Flash in Avengers Chapter 2

Earth 616, New York
After sometimes with Steve and his friends, Barry gradually knows that this Earth is a lot different to his, there is no Star City, no Central City, and there's no Oliver Queen. There's no ARGUS, but there is a SHIELD, a similar facility to ARGUS.
But when Barry explains to them about the multiverse, they seem to take a great surprise. After they found a restaurant that was not destroyed, they sat down to eat.
"Wait a second, two Earth?" Bruce Banner, another personality of the Hulk asked in surprise. "How the hell is that possible." Clint Barton, another hero of this Earth asked.
"Okay, imagine this." Barry said, "There are infinite Earths exists, they all at the same place, but they're all vibrating at a differently frequency…"
"So they can't detect each other." Bruce realized. "Exactly." Barry said. "So how did you get here?" Tony asked. "Well…" Barry said, "While I'm on my Earth, me and my friends has just defend Earth from a large group of aliens called Dominators, and when we win, a Dominator did something to me, and sent me here to this Earth, I'm stuck here."
"How do you know so much about this, this inter-dimensional travel." Bruce asked. "Well, it is not the first time I did this." Barry said. "What?!" Everybody asked in shock.
"I haven't told you guys, right?" Barry said, "I have super speed; I can run really, really fast." Clint asked: "How fast?"
"Well, I once saved a train load of people in a matter of seconds." Barry said. "Damn." Clint said in admiration. "So if I run really, really fast, I could rip open a portal between two worlds, I have that accident before, and one of my friend, Cisco Ramon, has the ability to create portals between to worlds."
"Then why'd you say you stuck here." Tony asked, "Can't you just run back to your universe?" Barry said: "Well, there's a catch, last time I did that, I have a device called Tachyon Enhancer to help me, I don't suppose you have that here, don't you."
"Not that I know of." Tony said, "And I know nearly every high tech on this Earth." Barry said: "Okay, the alternative is find someone just as fast as me, and we run together, that could also do the job."
"I don't think there's another man like you on this Earth, kiddo." Clint said. Barry sighed, realize he need to face the truth, he's stuck here on this Earth for god knows how long.
Two Years later
During these two years, Barry has joined the Avengers, lived in Washington with Steve, and also continue his journey on fought crimes, though without his friends help, it could be a little tricky, but all on all, it's still pretty good for him.
Barry and Steve run together during morning, Steve loved Barry as a companion, probably because Barry is the only one that could catch up with him.
This morning, they're running across the park, they run by pass a man.
"On your left."
"On your right."
A few moments later they passed by him again.
"On your left."
"On your right."
"Yes, I know." The man said.
On the fourth or fifth time they passed by him.
"Don't you two say it, don't you two say it."
"On your left."
"On your right."
"Come on!" The man groaned, trying he's best to keep up with Steve and Barry, but he's not a super soldier or a speedster, so he failed.
When they finished, the man is breathing heavily, sitting under a tree. "Need a medic?" Steve walk towards him and said. "I need a new set of lungs." The man answered, "Dude, you two just run like 13 miles under half an hour."
"I guess we got a late start." Steve said. "Oh really, you should be ashamed of yourself." The man said, "Why don't you take another lap. Did you just did it, I'll assume you just took it."
"What unit are you in?" Steve asked. "58, Para-rescue." The man answered, "But now I'm working at the V. A., Sam Wilson." He introduced himself. "Steve Rogers." Steve answered, helped him get up.
"I kind of put that together." Sam answered, "And you are?" He asked Barry. "Barry Allen." Barry answered. Suddenly, they both received a message on their phone. "Alright, Sam, duty calls. Thanks for the run." Steve said. "Okay." Sam said, "Thank you for saving my neighbor's life in New York." He said to Barry.
"What?" Barry asked, pretending he doesn't know what Sam is talking about. "Oh, come on." Sam said, "You're with Captain America, you run like that without breaking a sweat, and there's a hero called himself the Flash in here, Washington. Didn't take a genius to connect the dots."
"Wow." Barry said, "I really need to work on this secret identity." Steve nodded his head in agree. A car parked near them, the car window rolls down, showed Natasha is sitting on the driver seat: "Hey fellas. Either one of you know where the Smithsonian is, I need to pick up a fossil."
"Funny." Steve said. Get on the car with Barry, said to Sam: "You can't run everywhere." Sam nodded his head, said: "No you can't." The car drive away.
Indian Ocean
On the place, the strike team's captain, Brock Rumlow is explaining the situation. "The target is a mobile satellite launch platform: The Lemurian Star. It was sending up their last payload when pirates took them, 93 minutes ago."
"And demands?" Steve asked. "A billion and a half." Rumlow answered. "Why so steep?" Barry asked. "It's a ship of SHIELD." Rumlow said. "So it's not off course, it's trespass." Barry said. "I'm sure they have a good reason." Natasha said. "You know, I'm a little tired from being Fury's janitor." Barry said. "Relax." Natasha answered, "It's not that complicated."
"How many pirates?" Steve asked. "Twenty-five." Rumlow replied, "Top mercs, led by this guy, George Batroc, Ex-DGSE, Action Division. He's at the top of Interpol's "Red Notice"". Before the French demobilized him, he had thirty-six kill missions. This guy's got a rep for maximum casualties."
"What about hostage?" Barry asked. "Most of them are techs." Rumlow said, "One SHIELD officer, Jasper Sitwell. They're in the galley."
"Alright, Barry and I are gonna sweep the deck and find Batroc, Nat you'll kill the engines and wait for instructions. Rumlow, you sweep aft, find the hostages. Get them to life pods, get them out." Steve instructed.
While they're preparing for battle, Natasha asked Barry: "You do anything fun Saturday night?" Barry said: "My ex-finance and most of the man I hang out with are on another Earth, so…no, not really."
"You know, if you ask Kristen out, from Statistics, she'll probably say yes." Natasha said, "It will be a good thing for you." Barry answered while checking his suit: "No good thing starts as Kristen from Statistics."
"You're still waiting for finance or you're just not interested in dating?" Natasha asked. "The last." Barry said. The plane door opens, he and Steve jumped out.
"Are they wearing a parachute?" A soldier asked Rumlow. "No." Rumlow replied.
They're near the ship, Steve aimed and dive into the water, Barry do the same, then used his super speed to abroad the ship while Steve abroad on the other side.
Barry is hiding behind a box, watching the three pirates stand near him, he sped out, knocked them out before they realized.
Barry runs along the corridor, knocked out every pirate he saw, two man spotted Barry from far away and aimed their guns at him, before they could fire, Barry sped forward, knocked them out.
Suddenly, a man aimed his gun to Barry head, whispered: "Don't move." Before Barry could do anything, someone shoot the man and he falls. Barry turned around, find out the Natasha and the Strike Team has landed. "Thanks." He said to Natasha.
"Yeah, you seemed pretty helpless without me." Natasha answered. When they're walking, she suddenly asked: "What about the nurse that lives across the hall from you, she seems pretty nice."
"Do the job that Captain gives you, then you can worry about my love life." Barry replied.
Ship's galley
One of the pirate is sick of waiting, he knocked the door, yelled: "Hey, get Batroc, if I don't get a reply in two minutes, I'm going to shoot somebody."
"Alright, I'll get him." The pirate on the other side answered. Before he could move, Rumlow knocked him out, another solider planted a bomb on the door. Rumlow whispered in comms: "Strike Team's in position."
Barry and Steve are watching Batroc from a long distance, Steve whispered: "Natasha, what's your status?"
"Hang on." Natasha replied, knocked out the final three pirates, said: "Engine room secure."
"On my mark…" Steve said, "Now!"
The Strike Team blow up the door, the sniper took out two pirates. Rumlow took out the last one, "I told you, SHIELD doesn't negotiate." Jasper Sitwell said to the pirate's dead body.
Control Room
The communicator can't get the team of pirate, he said to Batroc: "Something is wrong, the line is dead. I lost contact with them."
"Watch out." Someone said. Before they could do anything, Steve's shield flies through the window, knocked Batroc to the ground, Barry sped into the Control Room knocked the communicator out. Batroc stands up, and run away.
Steve and Barry run after Batroc, but they lost him. Rumlow said in comms: "Hostages are in route to extraction. Romanoff missed the rendezvous point, Captain, hostile are still in play."
"Natasha, Batroc's on the move." Steve said in comms, "Circle back to Rumlow and protect the hostages." Suddenly, someone attacked Steve, knocked him to the ground, it's Batroc. Barry yelled: "Captain, get to Rumlow, they need your help. I can take care of him." Steve nodded his head, then run towards Rumlow's location.
Barry use super speed charge towards Batroc, the great impact force slammed Batroc through a door, and knocked him out.
"Well this is awkward." Someone says. Barry turns around, found out it's Natasha, said: "Rumlow needs your help, why are you here?"
Barry walks to Natasha, trying to know what she's doing. He looked at the computer screen, "You're saving SHIELD intel." He realized. "Whatever I can get my hands on." Natasha said.
"Our mission is to rescue hostages." Barry said. "No, that's you and Steve's mission." Natasha said, grab the USB drives that contains SHIELD's information, "And you done it beautifully."
Barry stopped her, said: "You just jeopardized this whole operation." Natasha said: "I think that's overstating things." Suddenly, Batroc stands up, and throw a bomb at them and charged out. Barry blocked the bomb in the air, then carries Natasha and run into a little room near them. The bomb blows up, but they didn't wounded.
"Okay." Natasha said, "That one's on me." Barry said angrily: "You think?"
The Triskelion, SHIELD Headquarters.
After told Steve what happened, they walked into Fury's office, "You just can't stop yourself from lying, aren't you." Steve said angrily. "I didn't lie; Agent Romanoff had a different mission than yours." Fury replied.
"Which you didn't feel obliged to share." Steve said said. "I'm not obliged to do anything." Fury said. "Those hostages could've died, Fury, does that means nothing to you?" Barry said.
"I sent the greatest soldier in history and the fastest man alive to make sure that didn't happen." Fury replied. "Soldiers trust each other, that's what makes an army." Steve said, "Not a bunch of guys running around and shooting guns.
"The last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye." Fury said, "Look, I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff is comfortable with everything."
"I can't lead a mission when the people I'm leading have missions of their owns." Steve said. "It's called compartmentalization." Fury said, "Nobody spills the secrets because nobody knows them all."
"Except you." Barry said. "You're wrong about me, Mr. Allen, I do share, I'm nice like that."
Fury led them into the elevator, "Insight Bay." He said to the computer system. "Captain Rogers and Mr. Allen do not have the clearance for Project Insight."
"Director override, Fury, Nicholas J." Fury said.
"Confirmed."
The elevator begins to go down, "You know, they used to play music for this place." Steve broke the silence and said. "Yeah, my grandfather operated one of these things for forty years." Fury said, "My granddad worked in a nice building. He got good tips, he'd walked home every night, roll of one dollar bills stuffed in his lunch bag."
"He'd say hi, people would say hi back." Fury looks like got caught up in old memories, time went on, the neighborhood got rougher, he say "Hi", people says "Keep on stepping", Granddad got to gripping that lunch bag a little tighter."
"Did he ever get mugged?" Barry asked. "Well…" Fury said, "Every week some punk would say, "What's in the bag?"."
"Well, what did he do." Steve asked. "He'll show them." Fury said, "A bunch of crumpled one dollar bills and loaded 0.22 Magnum."
"Granddad loved people, but he didn't trust them very much." Fury added. Suddenly, Barry and Steve stares outside the elevator in shock, "Yeah, I know, they're a little bigger than Magnum." Fury said with smile.
Outside the elevator's glass wall, three heli-carriers have lined up, and prepared. "This is Project Insight." Fury introduced. "Three next generation heli-carriers, synced to a network of targeting satellites."
"Launched from the Lemurian Star." Barry realized. "Once we get them in the air they never need to come down." Fury said, "Continuous suborbital flight courtesy of out new repulse engines."
"Designed by Stark?" Steve asked. "Well, he had a few suggestions one he got an up close look at our old turbines." Fury said.
"These new long range precision guns can eliminate a thousand hostiles a minute." Fury said, "The satellites can read a terrorist's DNA before he steps outside his spider hole."
"We gonna neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen." Fury added. "I thought the punishment usually came after the crime." Barry said. "We can't afford to waiting that long." Fury said.
"Who's "We"?" Barry asked. "After Battle of New York, I've convinced the World Security Council that we needed a quantum surgeon threat analysis." Fury said, "For once we're way ahead of the curve."
"Holding a gun at everyone on Earth is terrorize, not protection." Steve said. "You know, I read those SSR files." Fury said to Steve, "Greatest generation? You guys did some nasty stuff."
"Yeah, we compromised." Steve said, "Sometimes in ways that made us not sleep so well, but we did it so the people could be free. This isn't freedom, this is fear."
"SHIELD takes the world as it is, not as we'd like it to be." Fury said, "It's getting damn near past time for you to understands that, Captain." Steve walks towards him, said: "Don't get your hopes up."
After Barry left, he is thinking about SHIELD, he thought this is a place that do the right things, not this, he begins to question about his decision about joining SHIELD.
Author's Note: Well, this chapter basically followed the movie, hope you enjoy this chapter. And by the way, I've created a poll of which one do you want Barry pair with, I was thinking about Wanda, but since there is over a dozen of fan-fictions about them, so I decide to give the idea a rest. Now I'm thinking about Natasha, I get it, this is a weird pairing, but after I've seem a fanfiction and a video about these two, I oddly got fond of this pairing, but considered Barry's attitude towards secrets and lies, I don't really think it will work between the two of them, so now I'm torn.
