The war has ended and the world is safe. Shinji and Asuka, now a couple, invite their friends over to play the same tabletop game that helped them tear down their emotional barriers. (Pseudo-sequel to "Lucky Rolls". Rated T for safety. Contains Asushin, because of course it does)

Shinji is fatal injured in the battle against the eighth Angel. As a result, his soul is salvaged and placed in a Rei clone, sans memories. Asuka and Misato grapple with both Shinji's death and his unexplained replacement. Rei struggles to adapt to the existence of someone else like her. And the new Fourth Child gradually begins to remember being someone else...

(Rewritten Rebuild) - Shinji Ikari, a boy who was born thinking he could do no good for the world, but fate showed that this was wrong, he would apprehend in the worst possible way.

The Hedgehog's Dilemma dictates that despite the intention of a reciprocal relationship, it may not occur for reasons that two individuals cannot avoid. Despite good will, human intimacy cannot occur without substantial mutual harm, and what results is cautious behavior and weak relationships. (Warning: VERY slow fic. AU fanfic. Shinji Ikari travels the universe from the universe with the goal of uniting or helping the Shinji's and Asuka's of that universe. During a break in the place where the Tree of life (Tree of Shinji's) the branches that hold a universe have started breaking one from one, Shinji now must face this anomaly and destroy it before it changes all the universes of Shinji's.

Post-Rebuild 3.33, Shinji is recovered from the red earth by Asuka, having been condemned and wronged, he will do anything to prove his innocence and take revenge on those who abandoned him and betrayed him, being unable to count and trust anyone, only him same.

After an argument leads to Shinji hurting Asuka by shoving her…she finds out that she actually likes it…
