A/N this chapter will be a third person POV for Keiran! It's back tracking a little bit and then will go through and catch up with where our favorite duo are at now!

...

At just after one in the morning, Keiran Reed's phone pings softly and lights up his lavish bedroom. No one texts him this late unless they have a death wish. If there is one thing Keiran values it is his sleep. He rolls over to grab his phone and sees John Teller's name pop up as he opens the text that pulled him from sleep. The message is just an image of an unconscious Kit tied to a chair and a short message explaining that John caught her trying to break into his office. With a sigh, Keiran locks his phone and rolls back over. He will deal with this mess in the morning. He can't deny his disappointment that Kit ended up being a double agent, but he knows that John is more than capable of handling it for the time being.

The sun peaks through the curtains of Keiran's bedroom eight hours later when he finally decides to start his day. His very favorite part of being one of the big heads of the Hydra machine is that he is able to sleep in as late as he wants and no one can say a damned thing about it. Well, they could. But they would end up six feet under if they dared to complain to his face. Keiran unplugs his phone from its charger and shoots a quick text over to John.

Up now. Meet you at the shop in twenty minutes.

He locks his phone and then rushes through a quick shower so he can meet at the building referred to as The Shop. It's where Keiran and his lackeys take everyone that needs to be questioned... or disposed of. As Keiran is driving through the city he is contemplating which avenue he wants to take with Kit. On one hand, she has obviously double crossed him. There was absolutely no reason for her to be attempting to get into John's office if she was honestly working for him. So there's no question from that perspective; she has to be removed. On the other hand Keiran does hold genuine love for her. Or as close to love as someone like Keiran can get. It ranges somewhere between possessiveness and a weird misconstrued idea of what love feels like.

The roads begin to blur together as the landscape changes from skyscrapers and concrete to open spaces and dirt roads. His car glides silently down one such dirt road as the shop comes into view. At first he doesn't notice anything different about the building. It isn't large, there's no need for a lot of space here. People don't come here to be housed. They're in and out within just a few days at most. It isn't until he is out of the car and heading around the building to the entrance that he sees the mangled steel door lying in the gravel.

The sight of this sends Keiran racing through the building, down the main (and only) hallway and passed the doors leading to the bathroom and to the first interrogation room and into the main room.

The scene that greets him stops him in his tracks. Off to the left of the doorway lies one of our best scientists, Jonah. He developed the serums that are on the ground in vials next to a medical tray that has been knocked askew. Keiran steps gingerly over Jonah's body and uses the toe of his boot to push around the vials. There are three full vials and four empty ones next to used needles. Just from the color of the serums alone Keiran recognizes the fear inducing one, the one they use to inflict pain, and a dark muddy colored one that will bring death to anyone that is injected with it.

Death doesn't have much effect on Keiran, after all it comes with the territory. However, as he finally makes his way to the center of the room to the scene he was dreading the most, his stomach flips a little bit. John Teller is unrecognizable. The only thing that makes Keiran sure of his identity is his stringy blonde hair and the large ring on his right middle finger. That and the fact that his last message was sent to Keiran showing Kit in this very room. Keiran stands over the body of John Teller for a few moments, the only sound in the room is that of the ticking clock in the corner. Staring down at the body and trying to ignore the fact that he is standing in a pool of blood from one of his closest associates, Keiran pulls out his cell phone and makes a call to Bruno back at the office in the city.

"Bruno, we need a clean up crew immediately at The Shop. And I need you to go into John's office and empty out all of his filing cabinets. Burn everything and read nothing." Bruno mutters his assent and Keiran hears the questions just bubbling under the surface of his words of affirmation, but Bruno would never be brave enough to question Reed outright. Keiran hangs up the phone and casts one last look around the room and his eyes fall on the broken chair just inches away from where John lays. The ropes that bound Kit lay frayed on the ground around the remaining wood. "You're an idiot, John." He mutters as he pats the body down and pulls John's cell phone from his jacket pocket.

Before leaving the shop he also retrieves the phone from Jonah's lab coat as a precaution and without so much as a glance backwards, he leaves the crime scene just as he found it and with only one thought on his mind.

Killing Katherine Evans and everyone that works to protect her.

...

"You're telling me you can't find her? You can't find anything about her? No known contacts, nothing on that soldier she brought here... Nothing. You know nothing." Keiran's words are sharp and anger laces through them as he stares across his desk at the man that is all but cowering in front of him.

"We've tried, sir. We know that Barnes has been associated with the Avengers in the past, but... as far as we know they aren't exactly working together. It seems like they're not on the best terms."

Keiran leans forward and props his elbows on the dark mahogany desktop, rubbing his temples to attempt to relieve some of the mounting pressure in his head. "James Buchanan Barnes' best friend as a child was Steve fucking Rogers," he says through his teeth. Even after all these years in the states his accent is strong and when he is pissed his words run together and he can actually hear it himself. Now is one of those times. "His best friend is Captain America. Captain America is an Avenger, yes?" The small man nods. "So you're telling me that you have found nothing that suggests they're working together?"

"W-well, we don't have access to their compound, boss. We can't exactly look in on them, you know?" The man reaches up and scratches the back of his neck nervously.

"Have you tried asking around? We have plenty of business partners that moonlight as 'the good guys'."

"No, we haven't had the opportunity to-" The man doesn't finish his sentence because in his growing frustration and rage Keiran pulls a small gun from his drawer and shoots the man where he stands. He hits the ground in a heap and the door flings open to reveal Bruno in a mildly panicked state.

"You okay? Oh," he registers the man lying on the floor and nods at Keiran. "I'll have someone up to clean this right now."

"If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself," Keiran says to himself after Bruno leaves the room. Reed packs up his computer, his phone, and his gun and leaves his office to put in some actualy foot work himself for the first time in over ten years. He's going to find Kit and end this once and for all. If it's the last thing he does.
