As coping mechanisms go, Nymphadora adopting a dog is pretty low on things to be concerned about. He's more worried about the look in Andromeda's eyes, which is quite a lot like it was when they were children and she still called him mudblood when she forgot to be nice – and he isn't very concerned about that. He knows who he married. Danger was always part of the appeal.
The dog – however badly named (runs in the family, does it Dorrie?) – is an easy addition to the rare afternoon they get to spend with their daughter. He matches Andromeda, with thick dark fur and bright grey eyes, and more often than not, he matches Nymphadora too.
He teases his daughter over the name Snuffles, but hell, he's glad a name was chosen before he was introduced to them. It isn't much of a stretch to work out what Andromeda would have called him.
Nymphadora has a habit of turning up when they have guests over – Ted suspects some sort of cake-sensor – joined with never telling them her schedule; although that might have more to do with her mentor. Alastor Moody is not the type to let his students have a predictable routine.
If it isn't bad enough that they've just barged in – not that their parents have a problem with that, always very willing to suggest that they move back in – their thoughts are clearly back on Sirius. Their hair is black and their eyes are sleek mercury. As usual they've made an effort not to look too much like their mother, and as usual Ted has to bite his tongue not to mention that it just makes them look like their aunt Bellatrix instead.
Honestly Ted hadn't even known Molly Weasley knew what Bellatrix looked like. Or that her brother-in-law had died after seeing a grim. Just a lot of bad coincidences, really.
