Chapter 2

The next morning, none too surprised, Bakugo was issued room arrest for his antics of unauthorized use of his quirk and was instructed to clean the dorm common rooms and baths while the other students were in class. Fine by him honestly. It would give him ample time to clear his head after the dream he'd had.

"Katsuki, would you listen to me for one damn second?!"

He held the phone out away from his ringing ear. "Give me one reason why I should!" His mom had called him out of the blue while he was between classes and had slipped out into the hallway when Tenya had begun to lecture him on having the phone in his pocket rather than in the locker as per school policy. "I'm in the middle of school, can't this fucking wait?!"

"You don't understand, Katsuki, so listen to me when I'm talking to you!" A choke came through the line, as if she were fighting off tears; he'd never known his mother to show any sign of weakness, let alone shed any tears, despite the trouble he often landed himself in or the embarrassment that she claimed he caused her.

"Hurry and spit it out already!"

"It's about your friend."

"You're gonna have to be more damn specific!" Tension filled his chest when his gaze shifted to the nearby window where his reflection stared back with a pale face and wide eyes as a shadow approached the school, static filling his ears as a pair of black eyes pierced his being.

The source of the darkness unfurled a pair of large, sky devouring wings as it pressed its being against the window as if trying to reach him. Gashes and spiderweb patterns appeared in the glass as an earsplitting shriek filled the air. What he had thought were feathers turned out to the razor-sharp blades that attempted to pierce the window that separated them as it threw itself against it again and again.

He'd never seen anything like this creature before! Just what the hell was it?! A crack sounded as he twisted his being towards the classroom, the shout to call for them to come and help him out died on his lips when instead of the waiting room with students he found an empty void. Ice filled his veins as the glass behind him finally shattered. When he did force his body to move, he found his head held captive by a pair of pure black fingers as the shadow that was connected to his feet stretched upwards until those same eyes were inches from his own.

He shook himself while taking a brief stop outside of the baths. Stop it, you idiot, it was nothing more than a dream so get over it already! The footsteps he took after that were just as heavy as when he'd started earlier that morning despite his attempts to throw off the sense of unease he felt. Laundry, vacuuming, and the kitchen had all been accomplished by the time it was ten o'clock. If he were to get done sooner he could retire to his room, right?

An impact against the glass as he walked past the main commons with the mop in tow, a bandana wrapped around his head to collect the sweat and prevent it from blurring his vision. His brows furrowed when he spotted that a bird was responsible for the sound. "What the hell you think you're doing, feathers?"

It carefully balanced itself upon the window's sill, head tilting in every direction so long as one eye remained locked on him. The sun was high in the sky, deemed a "once in a blue moon occurrence being as their area was supposed to have thunderstorms all night to lead up into the late afternoon", causing its ebony colored feathers to shine indigo when it moved or shifted.

His foot rose and slammed against the glass. "Get lost!" It squawked in surprise of his action but after ruffling its feathers a bit seemed to calm down and resumed watching him with its beady eyes. "The hell is your problem?!" Mop forgotten, he swung open the window with unhindered anger only to fall back with a yelp as it darted through the new opening and raised his hands in preparation to fend off an attack when it settled within the mess that was his hair. "The fuck?! Get off me!"

No matter how much he tore at the bird with his fingers or shook his head, the black winged animal refused to budge from his blonde tresses. Even with faced with his threat to send them flying via an explosion it seemed to only settle farther as if his hair was nothing more than its nest. Animals had never really been his strong suit, being his personality would often cause them to avoid him or worse, so this was a strange occurrence that left him momentarily speechless as he simply stared at his reflection. To say the sight was bizarre may be the understatement but somehow it had situated itself to appear as though he was wearing his hero costume.

Weird but kinda cool, he guessed.

An black gloved hand landed on his shoulder. "Found you."

Bakugo stiffened then narrowed his gaze while shrugging off the limb. "What the hell are you doing here, Hawks?"

The flashy hero with his golden visor and brick red wings offered a smile. Ash blonde, slim build, gold-brown eyes that looked similar to that of a bird, the pro hero was known for his quirk that grants him a set of large wings with bright red feathers. "Well aren't you all bright and bushy tailed this morning." His other hand that had been in the pocket of his fur lined jacket emerged to remove the visor. "Heard you caused quite the stir."

"Fuck off. I'm busy."

"Not so fast." The hand that had been shrugged off reappeared on the young blonde's shoulder, preventing him from taking more than a step. "Isn't it time for you to take a short break?"

A twitch made itself at home in the young student's brow. "I said I'm fuckin' busy, Feather Brain, so get lost!" Once more, he freed himself from the hero and took up the mop to continue on his way.

"Aurora Yamashita."

He felt the very air itself freeze as the heart in his chest convulsed but the misstep had already given him away despite his attempts to appear unaffected. The shadow of his blonde hair fell to conceal his eyes for a moment as he took a deep breath through his nose. Flashes of rising flames, a deep crater, a blackened figure appeared within his vision that threatened to take the place of the hallway he was in. Sweat broke out across his body as he gave himself a mental shake, forcing his body to continue moving. The lump in his throat prevented him from speaking even as Hawks sped past to cut off his route to peer closely into his face.

"So you do know that name."

Footsteps approached, signaling that classes were breaking for lunch and that some of the students from the dorm would be returning, but the pair continued to stand face-to-face until… "Oh, hey Kaachan- Oh my gosh, you guys, it's Hawks!" Deku, who had come to check in on his friend, found himself rooted to the floor the moment he turned the corner that would reveal both but the grin that had raised his lips vanished when he too felt the tense air between the pair. "Is everything okay?"

"If it isn't Midoriya." Hawks pivoted so that instead of the successor to All Might seeing his classmate's darkened expression he would be distracted by the gold visor being raised to settle back over the pro hero's face. "What's on the menu for lunch today?"

"Well, there were plenty of leftovers to dinner last night so I thought I could come and have a bit of the spicy beef bowl that Kaachan made." He slowly leaned to the side as if trying to see around the hero in front of him but his view was blocked by the pair of wings which had reflexively unfurled in response to his subtle movement. With a nod of understanding, a silent sign that he had picked up that the two were having a private conversation, and turned towards the direction of the kitchen. "Everybody's worried about you, Kaachan, maybe we can play some cards later."

"S-shut up, nerd, don't go butting into things that don't concern you." The blonde growled lowly, surprising both classmate and pro hero at the near animalistic sound. "Get the fuck out of my face, Deku, and leave me the hell alone already." He blinked as a handful of feathers separated themselves from the wings to suspend him a few feet in the air. "What the hell?! Put me down!"

Hawks, with a bright smile in place, sent a wink over his shoulder to the freckled teen. "I'm just gonna borrow him for a while. Tell Aizawa that I'll bring him back when I'm done."

"But, sir, he's supposed-" Izuku raised his arms protectively as wind picked up courtesy of the window that had been opened and blinked furiously to clear the rush of moisture from his vision as he hurried to where the pair had been standing. All that was left was the mop and bucket. Whatever that was about, it was extremely private and they must not have felt comfortable speaking about it here in the dorms. His head tilted to the side as he peered through the glare in the glass as a dark figure faded into the distance. "Was that a bird on Kaachan's head or was he wearing that head piece of his costume?"

"Midoriya! What's taking so long?!"

He perked, spinning on his heel as a girl with brown hair appeared on the other side of the window with a pout. "Sorry, Uraraka, I'll be right out!"

"That was Bakugo and Hawks just now, wasn't it?"

"Y-yeah." The smile fell from his face as she too turned to gaze off to the spot where they had disappeared into the sky. "Something's going on with him."

"Was that a bird on his head just now?" She turned to him, hands rising to demonstrate what she saw by ruffling her hair a bit and earned a chuckle that grew into a laugh as the zero gravity hero-in-training attempted to move her fingers just right.

. . . .

"The hell you think you're doing?!" Bakugo struggled to remove his clothing from the feathers despite them being several stories in the air and the rushing wind that threatened to deafen him. "Where the fuck are you taking me, you crazy psychopath bird-man?!"

"Calm down already before you send yourself falling to your death." Hawks sent him a smirk when the youth bristled. "I'm taking you somewhere so we can talk freely."

"About what?! I've got nothin' to say to you!" The explosionist felt the blood in his veins run cold when the pro hero suddenly appeared in front of him, a gloved hand taking hold of his face and bringing it so that they were inches apart. "The hell you doing?! I don't swing that way, you crazy fuck!"

For a few seconds Hawks studied Bakugo's face, tilting it in various directions before releasing it with a wink. "You're right. Maybe I've got the wrong person. Guess I should take you back."

Red eyes widened as the feathers one-by-one began to return to their source, the hero's wings, and waved his arms wildly for a moment before his exterior became one of calm. "Go right ahead and drop me, Bird Brain! I'll just find my own way back!"

"You sure about that?" A gloved finger pressed against one of Bakugo's palms. "All that cleaning, scrubbing, and chemicals must have really dried out your skin. I doubt you'd be able to save yourself if I were to," the feathers lightened their hold, "suddenly let go."

The blonde teen found those words to be true. Snapping his fingers, capping his hands, rubbing them together vigorously…nothing! No matter how hard he tried not even a spark flittered across his skin. "Whatever, I can still take you!" He grunted as gloved fingers poked his forehead. "You're really asking for it, fucker!"

"Calm down, you'll have plenty of opportunity to run that mouth of yours in a second."

"Eh?!"

"Cause we're here." They fell at a near breakneck speed, earning a half shriek and half elated scream from the teen, both coming to a halt mere inches from connecting with the concrete building's rooftop. The feathers he'd used to capture the student kept a tight hold on him as they slipped inside and didn't release their grip until they had entered an enclosed room that had a wall of glass on one side that was facing a single chair. "Sit."

A grunt sounded as Bakugo was unceremoniously dropped into the chair. "The fuck is your problem?!" Chills passed down his spine as the pro hero suddenly grew serious, his expression darkening to the point where he was almost unrecognizable.

His gloved hand swiped outward, slamming the door with such force that the wall of glass shook dangerously. "You're going to sit there and answer my questions, Katsuki Bakugo. This is the only warning you're going to get to listen up good." A hand took hold of the wild blonde hair, earning a flinch from the teen as it was used to lean him backwards in the chair. "I want nothing more than the truth, you hear me you little problem child?"

"What the fuck is this even about?!"

"I'm talking about my niece."

Bakugo felt the ground rise to swallow him up, all light in the room darkened until all that was left was the pair of gold-amber eyes staring down at him that were full of anger and loathe. "There's no way…"

"I want to know what happened that day on the playground in the Shanghai District."

The room spun for the teen. "Tell me this is a fucking joke…"

Hawks took firm hold of his shoulders, shaking him slightly. "Tell me why you killed her!"

Tears flooded Bakugo's vision as a sob caught in his throat, causing the pro hero's eyes to widen. "My quirk…it just…I was just a snot nosed brat…I didn't…it was just…" His voice cracked. "It showed up out ofhe blue…I couldn't control it…I didn't mean to…she was my friend…how was I supposed to fucking know…"

"I see, so your quirk manifested and caused that crater and she was right in the middle of it." Hawks' lip that had been twitching fell still as his eyes rose upwards as a soft click sounded. The hostility within his gaze gave way to curiosity and confusion as he released his hold on the quaking teen. "Sorry, little guy, guess we might have accidentally brought you along from the ride. Let's get you back out in the open air where you-" Just as he reached for it, the black bird puffed itself up as if preparing for an attack then vanished in a puff of blue smoke that smelled of rotting flesh. He instantly turned towards the door with wide eyes and took a stance in front of the teen he'd kidnapped. "Shit! Hope you're ready to blow off some of that pent up energy ya got!"

"What are you-"

The door was blasted off its hinges as a figure in black surrounded by blue flames calmly walked into the room, his gaze instantly locking on Bakugo. "Sorry to interrupt, but I'm going to need to borrow this one." His trench coat billowed as the flames filled the room. Patches of his skin were dark red, almost the color of dried blood, that shone starkly against the white tee and pale skin that was rare to see on his face or hands.

"You've tried once before and failed, Dabi, what makes you think that you will succeed this time?" Hawks jumped backwards, elbow landing within Bakugo's diaphragm that caused the teen to slip into unconsciousness, and rose into the air with a flap of his wings to rise above the flames. "You can't brainwash this one!"

"I never said anything of the sort." The stitches that followed the lines of his lips and mouth made him appear to be smiling when the pair of dead eyes above remained glazed even when they reflected the dancing blue flames around the room. "We have different plans for him now."

A whirlwind of feathers caused the ceiling to form a hole, their means of escape, and they shot through like a bullet as the fire villain prepared to attack. Flames quickly pursued but it was the figure who was waiting for them that caused Hawks to screech to a halt that gave them the opening. They were sent to the roof in a crater courtesy of a sturdy kick that was delivered to the pro hero's back, the foot small enough to fit the space between his wings, but he managed to use a few feathers to toss the unconscious teen a short distance away so that Bakugo's impact wasn't near as bone breaking. "You never cease to amaze with your predictability, Hawks, you honestly should know better than to go for the obvious."

"Finally you got here." Dabi called, appearing from the hole in a pillar of flames. "Wondered when you were gonna show, Ebony Trident, but did you have to bring the kid with you? Bit reckless if you ask me."

"Well, I didn't ask you so shut up and grab the blonde boy before he wakes up." Ebony Trident, a silent rising villain that had taken the underworld by storm with his blacker than night skin, spiked tri colored hair that began as black at the roots that gave way to indigo then icy blue at the tips that made it appear as though his head was on fire. The obsidian trident he wielded was dual ended, forked on each, that were capable of slicing through concrete and steel if he chose to. "And I thought she was such a good girl that she deserved some fresh air."

Two pairs of eyes, one gold and the other crimson, became wider then ping pong balls between the places where they fell appeared a pair of small feet that was joined by a pair of boots.

"Come on, isn't there anything you want to say since it's been so long since you've seen them?"

Bakugo rose to stand on shaking legs, eyes following and trailing up the pair of slim legs that disappeared beneath a black dress coat decorated with metallic stitched patterns that looked like they'd been splashed with oil that came to a belt that was wrapped around a curved waist, a pair of mounds that looked to be straining against the tightness of the upper portion held together by a zipper, and choked when his gaze found one eye to be sapphire blue and the other chocolate brown with long lashes that looked to have moisture clinging to them. He stumbled while taking a step but the rooftop rose to meet him once more as she was swept away in a black cloak as the combined shouts of other heroes came from the background. Darkness engulfed him but not before their gazes met once more to reveal tear filled eyes and then all he knew was the sensation of falling.

See you next time!
