Chapter 8
He rolled, allowing the momentum of the punch to carry him away from his attacker, then stood in time to block another punch that was aimed as his head.
Damnit, damnit, damnit!
They had come barreling through the concrete wall to land within the side patch of parking lot asphalt that cracked beneath their feet when they landed. The sun was now at its highest in the sky, catching off the sweat covering their beings as they became locked in a stalemate when the punch he aimed at their shoulder was caught within a hand. Their strengths were equal, only succeeding in proving Black Trident's earlier words true as Bakugo stared into the ruby eyes looking back at him with no spark or sign of conscious will. It was as if there was no one home! As if the person he was fighting was asleep!
How the hell am I supposed to fight a hyped up version of myself when I know it's her?!
The expression of indifference he found hovering near his own as they stumbled backwards thanks to a shift of their combined weight felt so wrong as those red eyes stared listlessly back at him. Asphalt was replaced by grass covered dirt as they wrestled as if in a ring surrounded by spectators; his arm finding its way to wrap around his opponent's neck while their leg maneuvered between his own as if to knock out his stance when they came to a halt as a crack sounded. His gaze found the left hand that had been attempting to reach for his hair dangling by a clearly dislocated wrist that limply wiggled when its owner moved.
What the heck had caused it though? His own hand was farther down, locked on the forearm to better prevent it from coming any closer. It wouldn't have done that.
A grunt sounded as a knee met his side but this blow was oddly much softer than the one that had sent him through the wall. Or was he just imagining things thanks to the concussion? The clenched fist he didn't see coming collided with the underside of his jaw, causing his head to snap backwards, but brought it back forward with a roar that was followed by the sound of a crack as their foreheads met.
The forehead that was hers caved beneath his force as her eyes rolled.
Fuck! Damnit, man, this isn't some villain that you can just unleash everything on!
His hands fell to rest on her shoulders in panic when her appearance flickering to normal for less than a second before it settled on his mirror image. A small trail of blood appeared from the large red mark on both their foreheads in unison as he lightly shook her. Duo colored eyes flashed for a moment before they were overtaken by ruby and narrowed as he quickly braced for the coming kick that was delivered to his stomach.
A figure dressed in a pink and white body suit accompanied by one in green and the other with spiked red hair appeared within the hole he had just come crashing through. "We're coming!"
His hand lashed out as the impact caused her to stumble backwards several steps. "Any closer and I'll blast you to Kingdom-Come! Get your asses back inside and deal with that jackass!"
"But-"
"Damnit, I said go!" He roared with flashing eyes that threatened to burn any of the classmates from 1-A that made to enter the battle. "All the training and shit that you guys had me help with was to fight that guy, not her, so butt out!"
Uraraka shared a glance with Deku, as if hesitating, but they both conceded when Kirishima directed them back towards the building's interior. This wasn't their fight and it was clear that their hot blooded friend wanted to deal with this on his own. With a nod turned their attention to the fight going on inside the building.
Thought they'd never listen.
He chuckled lowly while meeting the dull gaze of his reflection. "Figures they try to stick their noses in something like this. They're real attention seekers, ya know?" The blonde shifted to the balls of his feet then lunged as she did, bypassing her fist that aimed for his face to bury his own within her stomach that sent her reeling backwards several feet away.
Alarm filled him when she stood not a moment later, eyes widening when he spotted her left arm dangling as she sprinted then delivered a roundhouse kick that would have sent him flying if not for the tree that seemingly popped out of nowhere to break the impact. Reflex rose as she swung again at his head and sent her to the ground with a hefty slam of his elbow into her gut that earned a choke and gag from her as she fell to lay spreadeagled on the ground gasping for breath.
Shit! That was my full strength just now by instinct!
It had been strange to see a reflection of himself wearing such clothing but now that nearly everything had been torn away it made him almost wish he had something to cover her with while spotting several tears within the hospital gown; just a quick glance confirmed that it was far beyond what anyone else would deem repairable. It looked as though it was barely holding together. The heart in his chest clenched painfully as she stumbled to her feet, bringing to his attention of how the coat had been ripped off her form to reveal a black hospital gown with matching cuffs on both wrists and feet that were now visible thanks to the missing boots. They shone brightly when catching the sunlight, meaning that they weren't made of cloth but metal, and Bakugo felt his blood rise to a boil when spotting one around her neck just barely visible thanks to the high neckline of the flimsy gown.
Those weren't measly decorations or accessories judging from how the skin beneath was raw.
His hands rose defensively as she shot forward, aiming for his chest with her uninjured hand. The oxygen in his lungs turned to ice as the hand he blocked rose up so that his nose was brushing its palm and knocked it upwards just in time for the blast to go off above their heads instead. Bakugo's eyes narrowed as the resulting shockwave and flying sparks from it rained down on them, tightening his hold on her wrist when she made to withdraw and locking gazes. "I know my explosions and the force you just put behind that one means that you just tried to blow my fucking face off, you sick bastard."
It wasn't her he was spitting venom filled words to, though they fell on her ears, it was the villain that was surely watching and acting through her.
"I'll be sure to return both the broken bones and full face job when I get in there, so you just wait." His voice dropped so low that it came out growl-like. "Every single thing you've done to her up until now will be paid back a million fold."
A chill passed down his sine as her lips lifted into a sinister smirk. "Then you're going to have to do a lot better than that if you're going to defeat your double." Black Trident's voice came from the cuff around her neck, earning a glance from the blonde. "She's not only capable of copying your physical appearance now, boy, but you forget that her quirk is 'Maximize' and her mother's 'Minimize'."
Ruby eyes widened as the feeling of his insides compressing as they had before with Hawks crashed over him, the ground rising to meet his knees as he was forced to kneel.
"While she's been growing stronger, your quirk has become a shadow of its former capabilities! You're outmatched in every way possible, just as all the other heroes will be, and they will have no choice but to bow and beg for their lives when they see just how powerful she is!"
"In your fucking dreams!" He spat, forcing his legs to straighten to stand and putting all of his weight against her so that she was the one struggling not to buckle. "No one on this damn planet would ever submit to a scumbag coward like you! Your own strength wasn't enough so you had to exploit the people around you! You're nothing more than a greedy slimy leech siphoning off her power!" The wrist he still held shook as another explosion began to build but he directed it towards the left this time as the smirk raising her lips became maniacal.
A shout of pain rose up his throat as the arm that he had fighting off lashed downward in a motion almost too fast for him to see, its bent elbow digging into the soft spot between his neck and shoulder, causing agony to rise. "Fucking hell!" He bit his lip harshly as another exclamation threatened to rise when the same elbow made to repeat the motion but this time his temple was the target and increased his hold to stop it from impacting less than an inch away. "Damn, who woulda guessed that you'd get a quirk like that, huh? Thought mine was hot stuff but then I heard ya got 'Maximize'. How the fuck is that even fair?"
Idiot, now is not the time!
He internally berated himself as they became locked in another stalemate with their faces mere inches apart, their breaths mixing and wafting the other's face, when he saw it.
Deep within the right ruby eye that was glassy came a flash of chocolate that was filled with desperation. Had she heard him just now?!
Black Trident's voice erupted from the small speaker on the cuff around her neck. "You will fail where others have as well, boy, so give it-"
"Here's an idea, you fucking psycho, butt the fuck out of conversations that don't fucking concern you!" Bakugo's other hand lashed out to take hold of the cuff around her neck, fingers carefully slipped between the metal and her skin, and wrenched it away from her being while crushing it with sheer force. The small electronic fell to pieces as his fingers uncurled from around the metal, wires and parts falling to scatter at their feet. Silence fell, which he expected, but the sight that greeted his gaze next was not.
Now that the cuff was gone, the abused flesh of her neck was on display for him to see. The flesh was disfigured thanks to the tightness of the cuff but it was the signs of deep tissue bruising that would make even those in the medical field flinch at the sight. Olive undertone skin grew deep violet with patches of red and a few blue scattered like blooming flower buds. Just how long had it been on her? His gaze traveled down her being to those on her wrists and ankles. Was the same sight laying just beneath those too? Though the cuff was gone, he knew full well that Black Trident still had a fierce hold on her mentally; meaning that even if he himself couldn't hear the guy she could.
He tightened his hold when her body gave a collective jerk. What could he say that would get her to fight back the "Enslavement" quirk? An idea, though he was sure that the rest of his classmates would think it was a crazy one, popped up in his head that made his lips fall into a thin line. She's reacted to him calling her name but maybe it wasn't enough.
She twisted and threw herself against Bakugo's hold as his free hand rose but stilled when instead of reaching for her it instead slowly removed the black mask covering the upper half of his face to fall to the grass beneath their feet.
Let this work…
He was not the praying type by any means but he sent one up in that moment as the glassy sheen in the ruby eyes staring up at him wavered. The thin line of his lips twitched in the corners as the black shadow covering hers disappeared like smoke. "Know it's been a while but, damn, didn't think you'd forget me." His hand that had removed the mask rose to the top of her head, ruffling the hair that was not hers. "What trouble did you get into now that Katsuki's gotta bail you out of, Aura?"
It was as if his words and the reveal of his face set off a chain reaction the moment his tone had lightened as the nickname left his lips.
First her appearance morphed until long navy hair spilled down her back, sapphire and chocolate eyes staring up at him as she shrank a few inches when he lightened his weight against her, feminine features much softer than his own appearing as tears gathered in the corners of her wide eyes. Then it was the bone structure and muscle mass that receded until a thin almost scarecrow girl was standing across from him with the hospital gown that had been almost too small to contain his copied appearance now seemed too large. Her bare feet that had been visible thanks to the loss of boots and torn tights shifted until they were nearly four inches smaller than his, the thick fingers covered in sweat and scars of the hand he slowly released became slender as they rose to touch his face.
A lump rose to choke him as the glaze lingering within her eyes threatened to return full force but he forced the ball of emotions down with a swallow while lacing their fingers. "Guess that thing on my face kinda threw you off, huh?"
Her quivering lips rose into a shaky smile, head bobbing in the slightest of nods.
The victory that he felt was short lived as within her gaze rose agony in the form of flames that he swore he could physically feel as her body writhed with pupils smaller than the head of a sewing pin. Black Trident! His hold tightened once more as she crumbled, following and cushioning her fall as best he could despite her thrashing. What had happened with Ezekiel up on the rooftop of the dorms hit him like a brick wall as her being twisted then bent backward, the sound of bones cracking in the air filling his ears. No! He couldn't let that happen!
Before he could move, she straightened and felt the world freeze as something pierced his side.
Crimson blood seeped from between his lips as both their gazes met, hers spilling with tears and his wide with shock, then shifted downwards in unison to see the arm that had been broken using the bone that had been threatening to appear through her stretched skin to impale his being.
Pain erupted from the wound as a jerk of her shoulder caused it to withdraw but he was too slow to stop her from standing then staggering back a few steps. He could see it in her eyes when they met as her lips parted, she was screaming and fighting an internal war that he couldn't begin to imagine. The fire in his veins returned as her expression became one of horror. "You bastard, stop playing with her head! Don't you dare even think for a second that this is your fault, Aurora, he made you do it!" A bubble rose in his chest, causing more crimson to spill from between his own lips as he stood, but he didn't stop as she shook her head while retreating another step away from him.
"Finally tracked you down."
Ruby eyes widened as a familiar scarf wrapped itself tightly around her being as she lunged, preventing her from getting so much as an inch closer to him. Anger fueled his adrenaline as he stood and found the one responsible focusing solely on the girl who now writhed and twisted as if she were a feral animal. "What the hell are you doing?!"
Eraser kept his gaze focused upon the girl but directed his words towards the seething blonde. "You all went off on your own when you should have waited for us to formulate a new plan." His eyes flashed, the sign of his quirk activating as she began to shift towards Bakugo's appearance, and gave the scarf a tug that caused her to fall backwards. "You stay there and keep quiet, problem child of mine."
"What are you gonna-" The answer to his question came in the appearance of a fair haired young girl with a single horn who hurried forward and felt his jaw hit the ground when Eri's hand disappeared down his childhood friend's throat that caused the navy haired girl to gag loudly and body to convulse from the sudden invasion. "What the fuck are you doing?!" He rose on wobbly legs, hand pressing against the bleeding wound in his side as he made to intervene when a whip wrapped around his upper torso from behind. "Damnit, let me go, you kinky cougar!"
"Be a good boy and just watch." Midnight gave a yank on the whip, causing him to fall to the ground with a heavy impact then took hold of his chin to direct his attention to the pair.
Eri's face was twisted with concentration, as if she were rummaging around for something within the stomach of the girl being confined, and yanked her arm out to hold up an eyeball as if proclaiming silent victory. Saliva and stomach bile trailed across her arm as she retreated to stand beside Eraser while wiping the liquid and questionable substances with a handkerchief that he offered. "I got it!"
"Great job. Lucky for us your arm is tiny in size." He commended yet didn't release his quirk even when it was clear that the girl laying on the ground was unconscious. "Did you find the other one?"
"N-no, that one has long since become one with her being. I could only 'Rewind' the contents of her stomach for so long and since that villain had less than twelve hours it wasn't fully digested yet."
Bakugo's brow twitched when Midnight began to relinquish her hold on him with a disgruntled sigh. "Alright, fine, woohoo! Let her go already!"
Heavy impacts that shook the ground beneath them caused all eyes to shift to the building as large clouds of black smoke seeped from the multiple holes and shattered windows. The battle going on inside must be ferocious if all that noise was anything to go by but Midnight rushed to join the fray once Eraser gave the nod as several distinctive shouts of pain rose that belonged to pro heroes and classmates alike. One sound, as if a violin's string was being strained beyond its capabilities, pierced the air a moment before the ground itself and the scarf split cleanly in half courtesy of a black forked weapon.
"So this is where you've run off to." Black Trident cooed softly, bending down to brush the backs of his knuckles against her cheek with cold eyes tracing over her being after removing the scarf's remnants. The broken bones were passed over, as were the wounds, until his gaze settled upon her slack face and parted jaw. "I see that you've lost that new quirk of yours and removed the cuffs without my permission. Such a naughty girl." His hand buried itself into her navy hair, raising her head a few inches off the ground and earning a warning growl from Bakugo. "I'm afraid punishment is in order once you regain consciousness." He suddenly perked while locking his gaze on the blonde who looked ready to attack. The gloved hand rose, releasing its hold on the girl, its palm facing outwards towards the blonde haired teen, and grinned. "On second thought, I have a better idea."
"Look out!" Eraser recoiled as his quirk failed to shift to the villain in time due to the dryness that forced him to blink.
Icy eyes pierced through ruby as the colors of the scenery around them faded to grayscale, pressure unlike any he's ever experienced enclosed around his consciousness as if trying to drown it in a sea of black tar. "Drowning Abyss."
The lungs in Bakugo's chest burned with the need for oxygen but how could that be if he was breathing? Tremors wracked his body as no sound of blood pumping or the rush of air through his chest was heard. It was as if his body had forgotten its unconscious functions! Gasps and hoarse sounds rose up his throat as his knees buckled, sending him to the ground heavily, hands clawing at his clothing and being as if in attempts to swim or dig himself out of this paralysis. Faces sped past his mind's eye as a darkness began to grow along the edges of his vision that inched their way towards the center.
What sounded like a muffled cry came from somewhere to his right, turning to find a blurred figure flying backwards that had a trail of crimson staining the otherwise grayscale ground. Who was that just now? Did he just do that?
A shout sounded, this time from his left, and spotted a pair of gray goggles flying through the air that were also splattered with crimson. Where had he seen those before? Why were they covered in the same red liquid as the person earlier?
And then the darkness swallowed him whole.
"You belong to me now…" a voice whispered in his ear, pitch monotone and void of emotion but causing the pitch black nothingness that surrounded him to ripple like water. "…you live because I will it."
"Like hell I do!" He pivoted, attempting to find the source but found only empty air.
"I see your fear, boy, and I must say it is not uncommon for one such as yourself to experience."
Ruby eyes blindly searched the darkness. Where the fuck was the voice coming from?! Why couldn't he see anything?! He began lashing out wildly, no plan in mind but the hope that some motion or swing could impact the being causing this phenomenon."You don't know shit about me, you psychopath, so shut up and get out of my head-"
"Tell me, how does it feel knowing the world rejects all that you are?"
Bakugo's breath caught.
"Everyone treats you differently because they are afraid of you."
He shook his head, hands rising to clamp themselves over his ears but kept up the movement of his feet so as to not become rooted in a single place. "Shut up! Shut up!"
"Your power frightens them, even makes them envious of your strength, yet you hold back your full potential for fear that they will isolate you more." The voice continued, each syllable causing more ripples to appear within the water-like black. "I am your only friend, for I can see just how special you are."
"Damnit, I said shut the hell up!"
Ice slipped down his spine as a pair of eyes appeared that caused his being to freeze. "Your mind is strong, boy, but it is no match against my quirk." Rings of chilling blue rippled from around the eyes as they loomed over him. "None can resist for long and soon you too shall become a puppet of mine!"
The tingles that had seeped into his body became numbing as the voice chuckles darkly. Was this how her life had been this whole time?! While he'd been enjoying life, going to school, hanging out with friends and getting stronger…she'd been suffering through rings of hell just like this one?! The thought alone caused heat to build within his palms then slowly spread upwards to the rest of his body where it chased away the lingering chill that raised the fine hairs on the back of his neck. "I'm nobody's plaything and neither is Aurora, you sick bastard, so you can just go to fucking hell already!"
"Then tell me I'm wrong."
He froze.
"If I'm such a 'sick bastard', then how is it that I know how individuals such as yourself feel so isolated within today's society?" The voice lowly chuckles. "Your quirks are unlike any they've seen before, earning fear and the caution of complete strangers, because they can't gain an understanding of it or of the person you are."
"You're fucking mind games won't work on me." Bakugo bit his lower lip when his own voice came out cracked.
"Then tell me of who has reached out their hand to you without flinching? Has there been a single person besides Aurora Yamashita that has offered you their friendship?" The faces of Class 1-A rose to surround him but they appeared all wrong: their smiles seemed strained and their gazes weary when his gaze ever met theirs. "Can you say for that they all welcome your presence without fearing your quirk that could easily end their lives in the blink of an eye?"
His hands that had fallen to his sides clenched into fists as the teases and jabs he'd received way back before meeting Deku or any of the other's echoed within the darkness. What felt like invisible hands took gentle hold of his as he paused in mid pivot to the right but he shook them off violently. "I thought I told you to shut the fuck up!"
"I will find your weakness, boy, it's only a matter of time until you slip and then you're entire being will be mine to command!"
Something invisible collided with his chest, nearly sending him stumbling backwards, and the darkness gave way to reveal long navy hair that belonged to whoever was standing in front of him. Slim arms were wrapped tightly around his upper chest, clinging to his being as if he were an anchor, and felt the world tip as whoever was embracing him shifted their head upwards to find himself staring into duo colored eyes spilling with large crystalline tears.
They swam in and out of view, as if his vision was the lens of a camera attempting to find a central focus, as the ringing in his ears gave way to the sounds of shouting came from somewhere he couldn't see. His gaze remained upon the girl who clung to him desperately but no name came to his mind. Everything was blank. Just who was she?
"…Kat…" A light slowly bloomed from somewhere in the darkness that allowed their full face to be revealed as her hands rose to cup his face, bringing it down farther so that their foreheads met in the same spot where their bruises from earlier were visible. "Kat…su…ki…"
Color exploded from around her as the fog that had covered his mind vanished, his hands shaking as they rose to grasp the thin biceps of her arms as his ruby gaze that had been glazed became clear. "Aurora?" Ruby blinked then narrowed. "Black Trident! Where is that fucker?! I'm going to make him wish he'd never been born!"
"Relax. He's been detained." Eraser called from off to the side just before disappearing around the side of the building with Eri in tow. "You two stay right there for the medical team."
"Eh?! You mean I missed the whole fucking thing?!" His temper rose dangerously as tapping of a finger against his chest drew his attention downwards. "What the hell do you want?!"
Though he hated to admit it, even internally, but many flinched or recoiled at his display but the girl instead seemed amused as she stuck her tongue out at him that earned a twitch of his brow. A genuine smile lifted her lips as he blinked in disbelief when she flicked his nose lightly. "Kat…su…ki…"
"Ya got my attention already, now what the fuck do you-" Bakugo felt the universe itself stop as her fingers lightly massaged the flesh of his cheeks and felt his jaw threaten to hit the ground. "Holy shit! Did you just say my name?!" The smile raising her lips grew as he shifted from sitting on his butt to bent knees, hands rising to take gentle hold of her shoulders as ruby eyes widened when she nodded.
Duo colored eyes filled with concern. "Kat…su…ki…" Her fingers gently brushed the underside of his eyes then withdrew them to show that they were wet.
The explosionist instantly removed his hands, stuffing them within the pocket of his pants while averting his gaze, but didn't remove himself from her hold. "I ain't no crybaby or nothin', not like I'm stupid Deku. And I don't recall asking for your help, Aura, I had everything under control." He grumbled lowly as her hand rose to ruffle his blonde hair, the hard edge of his gaze and tone softening slightly when she smiled again, then stiffened with heat building in his face as she fell forward against his being so that their upper torsos met. "O-oi! Whatcha think you're doing?!"
Alarm filled him when finding her unconscious and shook her. Color was draining from her face right before his eyes as cold sweat broke out across her body. The broken bone that had been forced to stab him in the stomach was now visible for all to see, poking out from her stretched skin like a snapped twig that was red on the end from their mixed blood. Where had all of these new wounds come from though?! It looked as if someone had used her as a punching bag!
A gloved hand fell on his shoulder. "Kaachan, don't you remember anything?" Deku dropped to a knee beside the pair, instantly removing his hand when the blonde tightened his hold on the unconscious girl. Forest hued eyes met confused ruby.
Bakugo felt the blood in his veins chill as his gaze followed the freckled teens and found a similar scene to what he saw in the nightmares.
The classmates of 1-A that had come along for the mission were being helped from the ground, a few being placed upon stretchers while the rest helped to where nearby medical vehicles waited, each with injuries ranging from bruises or cuts to broken limbs and heavy bleeding from wounds that would definitely take some time in the hospital or bed to heal. Kirishima looked especially rough as four medical assistants had to work together to carry him towards one of the emergency treatment tents that had been setup nearby.
"W-what the hell happened to them?"
"Black Trident tried to take over you. You must have been fighting him on the inside but he had control over your physical body." The forest haired teen spared a glance towards where a Uraraka was being treated, earning a small smile as her torso was being tended to, then returned his gaze to Bakugo.
Realization hit the blonde like a train. He had done that to his classmates! Confusion returned full force though when he discovered that none had the trademark burns that corresponded with his quirk.
"It was her."
Ruby snapped downwards to the unconscious girl he held as Deku offered a small smile.
"We came through in time to see him reach out towards you, Kaachan. She woke up and was able to minimize your quirk so that you didn't hurt anyone extensively. Your built and tough though so a few of us were knocked around a bit but nothing serious." One of his gloved hands brushed a few strands of navy hair from her face. "She's something else, that's for sure."
The retort that rose up his throat became empty air as he noted how the forming bruises would correspond with his clenched fist across her upper shoulders now bare thanks to the torn neckline threatening to fall. He rose to stand, shrugging away Deku's silent offer of assistance, and began taking steps towards Recovery Girl who had finished tending to those who needed immediate attention.
Damn, she feels so light and small…
Bakugo glanced downwards as her being gave a slight twitch, her expression becoming pained. as her uninjured hand clung to the front of his costume above the "X" where the black triangles met. The shadow of his bangs fell to conceal his eyes as a cough wracked her being, a thin trail of blood seeping from between her trembling lips, drawing his attention to the horrendous sight that was her neck. He honestly thought that she was mute, incapable of speaking, yet there was no denying that she had attempted to call out his name though it came out broken. The dark lingering shadow dissipated as the hand against his chest rose higher to instead cling to his shoulder. "I gotcha," he whispered hoarsely while adjusting his hold so that her face met the side of his neck and his lips reached her ear, "you're safe now. He's a dead man if he ever comes near you again.
"My, my, what a busy this day has become." Recovery Girl greeted, her wrinkled lips rising into a smile at the display. "I see your friend has been retrieved, good for you."
"Her first." He simply said when coming to a stop in front of the elderly pro hero and bent down at the waist for the shrunken woman to reach. His lips parted as she began her examination but felt his center of balance tip and then he was falling backwards into that darkness that was unconsciousness.
"Sorry about this!"
A force caused his head to snap to the left.
His brow twitched while bolting upright, hand lashing out and catching hold of the still raised hand that had struck him. "Do you have a fucking death wish?!" Bakugo seethed, earning a shriek from Uraraka as she wrestled free and hid behind Deku who was seated on the blonde's right. Both were bandaged in several places but otherwise looked to be in one piece as he looked from one to the other then about the room. When had he been brought to the Infirmary? A glance to the other beds had his sour mood worsen instantly when he found them all empty. "Where is she?"
"Kaachan-"
"I asked you a question, nerd!" Ruby flashed in warning when Recovery Girl appeared from around the curtain surrounding his bed. "Where the fuck is she?!"
Uraraka emerged from behind the forest haired teen, her expression downcast. "Bakugo, they had to put her in a special ward."
He was instantly standing, the bedsheet that had been covering him fluttering to fall in a heap on the tiled floor, paying no mind to the flares of pain that prickled across his being when he moved. "What?!" The blonde growled as she took hold of his wrist as he made to slip past. "Let go!"
"They put her in the same place that Eri was but they won't let anyone see her!" She gave his wrist a squeeze. "I know about what happened on the rooftop, with her father that had the 'Animal Transformation' quirk, so I understand why they are taking the precaution of keeping her separated from people-"
"That is fucking bullshit!" He wrenched free with a roar. "She just got out of that horror show and they just decide to shove her into another box like some sort of stray that we picked up off the fucking street?!"
Deku rose, quickly moving to prevent the fuming explosionist from leaving the room by blocking the door. "Kaachan, stop! You're still too injured-"
"I'm nowhere near as injured as she was, you damn nerd, and you expect me to just sit back while complete fucking strangers surround her again?!" Ruby blazed brilliantly like twin infernos. "Her parents are dead, Hawks and her have never met, and she's now free of that ring of hell that sick psychopath had her trapped in! She should be outside taking in the sun or breathing fresh air, not holed away in some dusty ward! I've got so much to make up for so I'm going!"
The door slid open, earning four pairs of eyes to widen when a pair of figures nudged Deku to the side. All Mighty shook his head when the young teens made to intervene and directed their attention towards the pro hero who stepped up to stand before Bakugo whose large red wings were bandage free.
"The fuck you want, feathers?"
"Quite the speech you gave just now." Hawks's lips lifted in the right corner as if he were attempting to hold back a smile. "I'm curious, what would you do if they did turn you away?"
Bakugo's eyes narrowed. "I'd find and break her out of there myself."
The pro hero nodded. "None surprising, giving the type a guy you are."
"What the hell's that supposed to mean?!" A blonde brow twitched as Hawks turned his back and walked out of the room. "Oi! I'm talking to you!"
"Hurry up, slow poke, or I'll leave you behind."
All Might gave the stunned Bakugo a nudge when he didn't move. "Best not to keep a lady waiting."
Giving himself a physical shake, he hurried to fall into step beside the winged pro hero halfway down the hallway, his hands stuffing themselves in his pants pockets. "So what's the plan?"
Hawks chuckled. "Going in guns blazing and breaking her out. Plain and simple but effective." A smirk raised their lips in unison while sharing a glance.
As you can see, I wasn't kidding when I said I sucked at writing fight scenes!
Chao for now! See you next time!
