Author's note
Hi guys! Chapter 2 also I would like to apologise in advance for my slow updates. I take a long time to wring anything and I want to take time writing this story and make it the best I can, so yeah...sorry. Also, I would like to make a special thanks to my best friends for beta reading my story for me and giving me the confidence to submit this story. Also, should I make an extra chapter describing what all the characters look like or add a description of what they look like at the end of the chapter they are introduced in? Enjoy this chapter
"What do I do now?" Serena couldn't hold it back anymore in broke into tears, she hadn't cried in years honestly she had almost forgotten how. In a way, it was strangely comforting being able to let her emotions out but at the same time, she had never felt so weak. She hated feeling like a small vulnerable little girl but she knew she needed this. Even if she only cried a little bit.
She was alone so she could relax for a little while. She decided to take off her scarf like mask and goggles enjoying the feeling of the night breeze on her face. She had stopped crying and was now feeling much better, she always felt calmer at night but she wasn't quite sure why, she smiled.
"If only it could always be this peaceful" her peace was short-lived when she heard a ruffling in the bush she now stood in a defensive position and waited for anything, to come face to face with a... fox? She relaxed. Was she really that jumpy? Serena signed as she crouched down at the fox's level and outstretched her hand towards it. The fox hesitated but walked closer and nuzzled into her hand, Serena's expression changed to more of a melancholy one.
"Ruri would have loved you, your cute aren't you little guy" her sister Ruri unlike her could actually understand animals and could appreciate them more than anyone. All her sisters including herself had a special power, and Ruri's was talking to animals.
The fox stepped away from Serena and sniffed the air and turned and ran away. Serena then felt another presence near her and turned to look behind her.
"too late princess," said a chilling voice. The unknown figure had grabbed her from behind clamping his hand over her mouth and completely stopping her from moving aside from her struggling attempt, she moved her head as much as she could to look at her capture. Her eyes dilated... it was them, obelisk force some of the king's top nights they found her. Her struggling increased and her adrenaline kicked into overdrive when she realised she was surrounded. She wasn't going down easy though.
"Well look who we got here boys it's the girl his majesty's looking for" no she panicked.
"Your right, it took a while but I guess it's our lucky day" one of the knights reached into his pocket and brought out a rag of some sort.
"Before we can do anything we need to knock her out and since we can harm her this will to fine" she realised the rag must have been covered in some sort of plant oil to knock her out this caused her to freak out even more as the man walked up to her and tried to scream.
This couldn't be it, it couldn't. She wouldn't be able to save her sisters if she needed saving herself, she couldn't even use her magic, she didn't know it would help anyway. This reminded her of that day she lost her family. She had to get away, she had to break free. She continued struggling and clenched her eyes shut and waited for anything to happen.

"Aarrggg" Serena opened her eyes when she heard the men behind her scream and then felt the grip on her waist and over her mouth loosen. She used this to get out of his grip and turn around only to see that the entire squad the soldiers and fallen to the ground bleeding from what looked like gashes in their shoulders. What happened? Serena quickly armed herself with one of the man's weapons and put herself in a defensive position.
"Who's there?" She waited until she saw an unknown figure wearing a cloak jump a few meters in front of her. Slightly startled she took a step back but maintained her confident composure.
"Who are you?" She raised her voice more. This action seemed to surprise the hooded figure but she heard him, at least she assumed they were male from their physique, hum in amusement.
"Brave one aren't you, I'm surprised you're not more disturbed by the situation" the figure raised his hand gesturing to the scene behind him.
Serena scoffed "what part the whole 'I almost got kidnapped' or 'oh a mysterious guy just knocked them all out'" she paused.
"They are only unconscious...right?" She heard the guy laugh.
"Sassy too, you really are interesting. Rest assured they are only unconscious I used a nerve agent to temporarily paralyse them".
She still felt weary of the mysterious strangler but for some reason felt like she could ...trust him. She must be going crazy she thought.
"Back to my question who are you?" She raised her weapon higher telling him what would happen if he didn't answer. She heard him sigh but saw him reach to remove his hood. She then came face to face with a boy who looked around the same age as her and began to analyse his features. The boy had violet and magenta coloured hair with sharp magenta eyes to match, she also noted he was wearing a smirk and a smug expression. He looked ...familiar? Why? She then noticed his expression change into a frustrated one.
"Don't you think it's rude to ask for someone's name while holding a sword towards them" technically he was right but she could say the same thing about him? He was armed too.
"That's rich coming from you your armed as well and need I mention you just knocked out six trained soldiers on your own" the smirk returned to his face and he removed his cloak showing exactly what was on him. He then raised his arms in a 'surrender like fashion suggesting he meant no harm. His main weapon seemed to be daggers or knives of some sort from what she could see but she didn't know what else he was hiding.
"Your right I'll disarm myself and answer your questions if you do the same, now does that sound fair" she contemplated his question. It did sound fair but she couldn't be sure he stay true to his part of the deal. Even though she felt her doubt wasn't needed. She was about to answer his request when he suddenly cut her off.
"Also I suggest we leave here as soon as possible or do you still want to be here when they wake up?" Crap he was right and she did owe him her life. She gestured her sword away from him and into the direction of the forest.
"Fine your right and I'll agree to your terms, we'll both disarm and ask each other questions but no funny business..deal?" he simply smirked, not in a malicious way though, and walked in the direction she pointed. What a night.
After a few minutes of walking, far enough from the obelisk force soldiers to ensure their safety... Well her safety they stopped and Serena started talking.
"Ok I think this is a far enough distance now disarm yourself, now," Serna said as she slowly put her sword down. The boy across from her did the same but with multiple blades and walked a good few meters away from them. He walked until he was about a meter away from her and smiled.
"Ok introductions are in order and if you don't mind I would like to ask some questions as well". Serena crossed her arms in annoyance.
"Fine I guess so, I don't have to talk if I feel not too" the boy nodded in agreement then excitedly point toward himself.
"Well first things first my name is Yuri but I'm usually known by another name, honestly your the first person in years to know my real name. Your turn what's your name?" he said with a cool and collected tone until he asked for her name. His tone then changed into a more curious and mischievous one.
"Serena, that's my name and what do you mean by the first person in years to know your name?" she saw Yuri's eye twitch. She didn't think he would respond but she was wrong.
"Well let's just say people knowing my real name is pointless and I'm not the most admired person in the kingdom, quite the opposite I'm probably one of the most feared members of society". He looked into her eyes and noticed a flash of realisation. He smirked maybe she found out but he was surprised because she saw no fear in her eyes.
"Correct me if I'm mistaken but you're the midnight venom...am I correct" so she did know. The midnight venom was a famed criminal that went around killing anyone who worked or supported the king and whoever would get in the way. He gained his name with his style of killing or harming his victims with his poisoned blades. Everyone feared him, until her. He clapped his hands in a congratulatory manner.
"So you figured it out but you don't seem scared of me" he paused "why?".
"I have more things to worry about out of fear in this world rather than you also if you wanted to harm me let alone kill me you could have done that earlier and in a way, I owe you my life" he heard her voice falter slightly, was she upset.
"Your right I could of to be honest I'm not the biggest fan of killing or harming civilians I only do that when they get in the way my real prey is the king and his henchmen by the way what makes you so special, I heard those men before the king is after you but why" he was cut off.
"FOR GOD's SAKE I DON'T KNOW" she looked at him with a fierce look.
"I don't know why he wants me, he's been after me for year's he already has my sisters and I assume I'm the final piece of his puzzle"
Yuri stopped for a moment. She mentioned her sisters. He could sympathise with her the king had taken his family long ago as well. But the doesn't matter he was alone now and he liked it that way. That's what he told himself anyway.
"Clearly he doesn't want you dead then if he's still hunting you down and that might mean your sisters are still alive too, you're lucky".
"Really you think they're alive" Yuri snapped his eyes towards her having had his shoulders grabbed and shaken by the girl. What happens to caution?
"I guess so it makes sense doesn't it" Serena let go and nodded. She realised something and had an idea.
"Yuri you're after the king right and I want my sisters back how about we team up" Yuri scoffed.
"Why would want to team up with you I've been doing fine on my own if anything you'll get in my way" this pissed Serna off but she kept calm and smirked reflecting Yuri's early expression.
"You're skilled I want to deny that but there is no way in hell you can get to the capital let alone the castle on your own, you will be outnumbered and outsmarted if you go alone into his home territory" she had a point but there's something she didn't know.
"Well unlike them I have... Special abilities" he was cut off again.
"Cool you have magic but here's an important piece of information so do they" what?
"How do you know"
"My broth...friend has dealt with the higher-ups of the king before"
Yuri raised a brow and contemplated what she was saying but what could she offer if she came along?
"Ok you have a point but if I let you accompany me what use are you" Serena jumped back and flipped her hair behind her back in a sassy fashion.
"Despite what you've seen I'm a good fighter and stronger than I look, I also have healing magic, nullifying magic and light magic. Though my healing magic is my strongest form of magic."
Yuri stared at her and contemplated her skills having her tag along would be useful, he did get injured sometimes and the chances of him getting hurt on this mission would only increase. With a bit of training perhaps of both their parts they could reach the king...and he could get his revenge and kill him. Yuri reached his hand out and smirked at her.
"You have yourself a deal princess".
Yay finished chapter 2. I hope you all like it but to be honest I feel like this is one of the weaker chapters. Well, we finally got introduced to Yuri and hope I did his character justice especially as he is my fav Yu Gi Oh character. Also, I would like to apologise for any spelling or grammar errors and feel free to point them out so I can try and fix them. Please feel free to comment on ideas and constructive criticism but please no flames. Also, tell me if there's anything about the story you want me to into more depth in like backstories and stuff like that thx.
