Hey guys sorry it's been a while since the last update I've been kinda busy and all plus I kinda had writer's block so... My bad. I really hope you enjoy this chapter. I also wanted to mention I'm might be changing the characters a little bit to make them a bit more character accurate or make more sense to the story, so I hope you don't mind and I hope the characters/story still flows well.
"Oh come on princess can I please see? You've been practising for ages".
It had been about three weeks since they had started training and thankfully they hadn't been found, Yuri's vine barrier had done wonders. They had been training almost non-stop and during that time they had become really close, neither had really had friends growing up so both didn't really know how to act but now they acted like they had been friends all their lives. They enjoyed it, they weren't going to lie when they said they had only teamed up for personal gain but now they were just as important to each other.
They also enjoyed their witty banter and sarcasm, they got on each other's nerves to no end but it made their day so much more enjoyable and today was no different.
"So? I want to get my new magic perfect..." Serena grinned and turned to Yuri.
"Besides it's funny seeing you so annoyed...Lilly~" Yuri almost tripped at the...new name? What?
"Excuse me? What did you just call me?" He was so confused, Lilly?
Yuri was too confused to even notice Serena's insane laughter, that was until he heard her fall off the log she was sitting on still clenching her stomach as she laughed.
"Y..your f..face was hilarious..I.I can't even" yuri, no over his original...shock? Just stared at the girl who was now just laying on the ground, red-faced and struggling to breathe through her laughter.
"Are you ok?" Yuri walked closer and leaned over her inspecting her from above. She didn't exactly look...not ok.
"I'm..I'm fine just..just catching my breath" Serena jumped back into a sitting position and rubbed her eyes, she hadn't laughed like that in years. Yuri just huffed and sat back down next to Serena.
"Ok now that you're more composed tell me why in the hell you called me 'Lil-ly'" Yuri clapped out the syllables and waved his hand at the girl in front of him.
"Well? Please enlighten me" Serena laughed and tilted her head.
"Well, I told you if you wanted to continue calling me princess I would be allowed to call you any nickname I wanted to" ok she had a point...WAIT no she didn't why was she calling him a girly name? (No offence to Lillys out there, I am friends with many Lillys)
"Ok fine but why Lilly? Of all the names you could have called me you, chose, LILLY!?" Yuri couldn't say he was mad but he was definitely annoyed
.
.
.
Oh, this must be how Serena felt...Yuri cringed a little, ok he deserved this.
"I remember when I was young I was reading through some old books and I saw that your name in another language means Lilly, like the flower and considering your magic I thought it would be appropriate" Yuri nodded and sighed.
"I'm stuck with it now aren't I"
"Yep enjoy" she smiled far too sweetly
Oh boy
Serena's expression suddenly turned serious and she crossed her arms.
"Ok Yuri we've been practising for weeks and we need to decide now when we take action, I reckon we're ready, what about you?" She was right, they had been here for a while and they were much more experienced using their magic and enchantments, but he was kind of sad. He guessed he had become comfortable here spending time with her, but this was important...not just to her but to him as well.
"I agree, and my dreams have been becoming more and more frequent so that must mean something" Yuri looked up at the sun and judged the time.
"We'll rest for a couple more hours and then leave at sunset, that would lessen our chances of running into anyone" Serena nodded.
"Let's get ready then"
"Everyone, we have to pay attention we finally have news".
"Really? The only news we ever get is the regular guard patrols, it's not important".
"So? It's better than nothing"
"Are you sure of that? We are no closer than we were years ago"
The two teens were bickering like five-year-olds, completely ignoring everyone around them. This, unfortunately, wasn't a rare occurrence, not recently anyway and once the two started there was almost no stopping them. Almost.
"Shut the fuck up!" The two instantly freeze and stare at the young man in front of them, they might have fucked up.
"Fighting like two-year-olds? I understand that we don't get much information and most of it is the same but even then it is useful and fighting isn't going to magically change that, now if you can shut up and listen" the two sit down and stayed quiet.
"Ok thank you, from the information we got from Reiji and Tsukikage the king is planning something different, or at least taking more drastic measures" this got the attention of everyone in the room, what did he mean?
"Ok, we got word that the king has released his strongest soldiers and set them out in a hunt" the blue-haired boy raised his hand.
"How are they any different to the soldiers we've already faced? Surely they're not any different" the man just signed.
"Unfortunately Sora they are very different, but unfortunately we only know of one of them, the battle beast" the room was now dead silent. Everyone in the room knew how dangerous the battle beast could be, they heard he was an experiment done by one of the king's advisers, it had granted him unnatural strength and agility but he had lost his mind and humanity in exchange.
"And from what I've heard...he's not the worst of it"
"How is that possible?! How is anyone worse than the battle beast?" This time a blond and brown-haired teen spoke up and he couldn't blame him.
"From what I've heard it's a small squad of soldiers equipped with both exceptional combats skills, intelligence and...magic" the king was a damn hypocrite, hating all forms of magic until it benefits him.
"Ok so basically the king has even more power than we thought, yay that's just what we need" Sawatari always had time for sarcasm, didn't he?
"What exactly is the king looking for? You said he sent them out on a hunt but what for?" This time Dennis spoke up, he never sounded this serious. He should have known someone would ask who was being hunted.
"From what Reiji said he's looking for the Midnight venom and..." he was cut off.
"Why should we care if he's hunting down the venom? He's been nothing but a pain in our side for both the resistance and the Lancers"
"He's not just after the Midnight venom...he's after my sister" this got their attention.
"You mean miss Serena? Didn't she run away a few weeks ago? Why does the king want her?"
"Unfortunately I don't know but she left to save her sisters, I got confirmation that the king still has them hidden in his palace and from what Reiji said he needs all four girls for some sort of spell"
"Does that mean your sister is travelling with the venom" Shun clenched his fists.
"I don't know that either but I know if she is she isn't safe, I know this sounds personal but it's our job to protect the people of this kingdom and stop the king's reign once and for all and I can guarantee whatever the king has planned will not end well for us, for anyone"
Shun walk into the middle of the room and raised his sword
"It's our duty to set this kingdom free and we, the lancers and the resistance our their only hope, so are you with me!"
"Yeah"
"Woo"
"To the end of the king"
"To our freedom"
Shun raised his sword higher and shouted.
"To the lancers!"
"TO THE LANCERS!"
He was going to get his sister back, Kick the midnight venom's ass and free his home. He would make up to him, all of them.
Shun walked out of the Lancers hideout and started walking back to his house, he had already assigned all of the lancers their roles and sent word to the divisions of them and the resistance, but he had his own role. He was going to find Serena, she came first but he wasn't going to ask the rest of them to risk their lives because of him and Serena wouldn't want that either.
Shun, though he was lost in his own thoughts wasn't unaware of his surroundings... he was being followed and he had a suspicion of who it was.
"Dennis I know it's you just come out" as he said that the orange-haired man jumped in front of him.
"As observant as ever my friend"
"What are you doing following me? I gave you your orders" Dennis smiled and tilted his head.
"You should know I'm not one for following orders and anyway, I can tell you're worried and I want to help"
"This is none of your concern"
"So that's never stopped me before has it and if the king is after her for some sort of spell thing finding her should be our top priority and despite that, I still owe you" shun turned to his and sighed.
"No you don't all I did was catch you from falling out of a tree" Dennis countered.
"Into a fully armed squadron of armed guards, I don't care what you say I'm going to help in some way, I can be a lookout and report to you if I find her, besides it sounds fun and it would be an honour to meet the great Kurosaki's adopted little sister"
"You're not going to take no for an answer are you, you stupid clown" Dennis shook his head.
"Nope see ya Kuro I'll head to the west"
"Why? and don't call me Kuro" Shun said in a serious tone.
"If she's looking for her sisters and they're at the palace, she'll be heading there" he was right.
"Ok good luck...and thanks" Dennis bowed and ran off, hopefully now he could find her faster and make sure she was safe. Then Shun realised something crucial that he should have told Dennis but the stupid clown didn't give him time.

.
.
.
Did he know what she looked like?
"Dennis you Dumbass!"
"Father? Are you here?" Reiji waited for a response but heard nothing and peered around his father's office. Now was his chance to find more information, it was very rare for his father to not be in his office so he had to take any chance he could. He knew his father was up to something and he knew it couldn't be good, whether it be catastrophic for a few of his people or the entire kingdom he couldn't be sure but he has to stop him either way.
He knew his plan somehow involved the three girls he has in confinement and the one girl he was looking for. His plan also somehow involved the three knights that kept on watch on the girls. There was something wrong with his "devil" knights though, one minute they seemed perfectly fine and often polite on the extremely rare moments he saw them but then they would change into soulless shells of the people they were.
He suspected that had something to do with his father's sorcerer.
He called himself the Dokter, he was an old man and in Reiji's opinion, he had a twisted mind and even less emotion and humanity than his father.
That didn't matter at the moment anyway, he need to find anything that might tell him about the king's plans. Reiji rummaged through his fathers draws and searched through books he could find closest to his father's desk. He knew if it was important to the king he wouldn't have it far from arms reach, but he wouldn't take it out of his office to keep it hidden or safe.
Then his eye could sight of a folded piece of paper hidden within what he could only assume was his father's journal. It was a drawing of a young girl, perhaps only a year or so younger than him and had a striking resemblance to all three of the girls his father had hidden within the palace. Unlike them, she had long wine coloured hair, tied up with two ponytails and she appeared to be wearing regal clothing, unlike the clothing the girls had when they first appeared at the castle.
Was this the final girl? Or was she someone different? There was only one way to find out. As the prince was about to leave he heard the shuffling on feet coming towards the office door.
"Shit" he muttered as he rushed to find to put everything back in place and find somewhere to hide.
If he was found his father would have his head...or Reira, whether it be literal or not he didn't want to find out. He had a job to do and a responsibility to uphold, he was not being caught today or ever. Luckily Reiji found a place to hide but questioned his chances of not being found. The only place he found was the small space underneath his father's desk but it was too late now...his father was in the room.
He listened as he heard his father walk around the room, presumably looking for something...or someone. Reiji sat there silently praying for a distraction, anything to give him time to escape the room. He sat there internally kicking himself, he always thought through everything he did but he acted before his brain could keep up with him, now here he sat hoping he wouldn't be found.
Step
Step
Step
Come on, Reiji waited as he heard the king get closer. Reiji looked and could see the side of his father's cape and if his father turned around and looked down slightly he would be caught.
Three
Two
One...
"Your majesty we have an intruder heading towards the south tower" that's where one of the girls were? What?
"What! Get as many men towards the towers now!" Reiji stayed still as he watched his father storm out of the office and let out a small sigh. Whatever was happening in the towers definitely got his attention but not as much as it did to the king. He remembered that the girls were usually guarded by his devil nights but since he sent them out, there was less security.
"No wonder he panicked" Reiji whispered as he crept out of the office, thankfully undetected and made his way back towards his room. He quietly walked through the halls noticing how frantic the staff truly was, he made a mental note to go check on Reira amongst this panic. Once Reiji reached his room he noticed a small piece of parchment had been put on his dresser tied with a deep blue ribbon.
The lancers?
He reached over to the parchment, unrolled the paper and read what was inside.
Your majesty, I sincerely hope you found and managed to escape the king's office. I made sure to cause a distraction as well as getting out without being identified. I look forward to getting your next report
-moon
He knew that code name, Tsukikage.
He distracted the guard and his father, once again had he saved him and ensured the future of the lancers. The prince placed the newest papers in his coat and ripped up Tsukikage's note, ensuring it wouldn't be found. He would make sure to send the newest report as soon as could as well as is thanks to Tsukikage. The silence in his room was short-lived when he heard on knock on his door and the creaking of said door being opened.
"Sorry for the intrusion sir but I was asked to come check on you" it was one of the maids, his father must have sent her.
"If you haven't already heard we had an intruder in the castle and the king sent me to check on your safety" well, he was right.
"Yes, no need to worry I am fine but what has happened to my sister? Is she ok" he knew full well she was safe but had to look as if he didn't know that. He watched as the maid nodded her head.
"Rest assured Lady Reira is safe, I checked on her myself just before I checked on you"
"Thank you miss" the maid bowed and went to close the door.
"You are welcome your highness, if you will excuse me I will take my leave" the woman closed the door, clicking her heels as she walked down the hall, leaving the prince in his own company once more. A few minutes later he walked over to his dresser draws and grabbed a small silver whistle, walked over to the window and blew it but no sound could be heard, only the continued silence and murmuring breeze.
The prince only had to wait a few seconds until he saw the shadow of a bird circling in the sky. He blew the whistle again and watched as the bird flew into his room and onto his arm.
It was his messenger bird to the lancers, dusk. Almost every member of the lancers had been appointed a messenger bird courtesy of Kurosaki. He had trained all of them a bird before he quit the lancers years ago to keep in contact and make sure they could send messages long distances in a short time, lowering the risks of their messages being intercepted, but he still had Tsukikage receive reports from time to time to inform him of news and make sure his reports got through but given today's events he had most likely left the castle's premises.
The bird on his arm was a small black falcon with white speckles adorning its wings, as well as a small blue ribbon tied to its leg. Reiji wasted no time in tying his new report to the bird's leg as well as a copy of the drawing he found in his father's office. Thankfully for Reiji, he had a photographic memory and exceptional drawing skills, he still needed a copy of the drawing after all.
Once the message was secured to the bird he walked back over to the window and set it free making sure there were no guards paying mind to his window. His message would most likely reach the Lancers main team by nightfall with the current time being mid-afternoon. All he could do was wait and attend to his new agenda, but before anything, he had to go visit Reira.
His beloved little sister.
And I am finished with this chapter yayyyy. Sorry if this seems rushed or a bit disorganised I took a break in between writing the last chapter and this one (I still like this chapter more than the last) sorry for the long gap btw. I've been dealing with school and as you might know, school can suck...and I've had writers block at the same time so I had everything against me lol. I would like to thank my reviewer Guest01 for giving me the idea of Yuri's new nickname and for reviewing every chapter to date, you've really been encouraging me to post all my chapters and has been a great help so thank you.
As much as I hate that I took so long posting this chapter, there might be a longer gap due to me taking exams this/new week but Idk what will happen yet. I would like to say that my original views for this story had significantly changed but I am still enjoying writing this story so don't worry, though I might change the description at some point a well as the title but who knows? Thanks for reading and pls review and comment sorry for the long AN. See ya guys
