I actually forgot to post this on the first, so I decided to wait until Friday. Then on Friday, I forgot again. So I'm uploading it now XD.

"RUN!" Crystal yelled.

They didn't need to be told twice. Crystal leaped over the cracks in the floor, barely making it over before flames erupted through them.

She glanced back at the way she came, where the faint shadows of the monsters chasing them disappeared altogether. She looked at the exit, seeing it go up in flames as well. She glanced at the others, who didn't seem to be faring well.

'Oh no.'

Crystal shook her head. Looking at the others, Pearl looked troubled, Gold looked like he was about to jump through the fire, Ruby just stared at the flames, Y was looking for any other escape route but wasn't too worried, and Moon was trying to feel if the fire wasn't too hot (it was).

"There must be some way out of this..." Crystal trailed off.

"I'm pretty sure Gold already has a plan." Y said nonchalantly.

"Hey! Don't steal my thunder," Gold pouted, "but I do have a plan."

"Well!" Pearl yelled, impatient as always.

"We can jump through the flames." Gold said, proudly. The small flicker of hope in Crystal quickly extinguished.

"Are you crazy!" Ruby yelled.

"We'll get burnt alive." Moon added.

"Haha," Gold laughed, "you reminded me of a funny joke. Cele-"

"HEY! No spoilers!" Y yelled.

"But it's a different fandom!" Gold whined.

"Even so..."

"I have no idea what you're talking about, but you're an idiot Gold." Crystal sighed.

"I can't believe you didn't notice. You're the idiot. There's a pattern to the flames." Gold pointed to the flames. Crystal glared at him before glancing at the flames again.

'1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.'

The flames parted for a moment, revealing the other side.

"I'm surprised, but, you are actually right for once." Crystal praised him, while also insulting him. Gold smirked before speaking.

"Well, rem-" Crystal cut him off.

"Shut up idiot, we're jumping." The others sighed, but their faces turned serious as the temperature increased a little.

"Did the temperature..." Moon trailed off

"Yeah, let's hurry." Crystal said. Crystal glanced at Gold. He didn't look like he was faring any better, but he still held his grin.

'I never realized how strong he could be.'

She thought before she shook her head. Suddenly, Gold jumped through the flames. Everyone was shocked

"You can jump through the flames, just pay attention to the pattern. Every six seconds, you can jump" He yelled to explain to those who didn't catch on.

"You're crazy!" Pearl yelled.

"It's our only hope." Crystal sighed. Pearl also sighed before he stepped up to the flames. You could see him count before he leaped over the burning floorboards. As he jumped, some of the floorboards fell. Pearl became unbalanced in the air, but he safely made it to the other side. The fire was widening, causing the distance required to jump to increase by the second.

"I'll go next." Y said. The floorboards in the middle of the fire were gone, so if she didn't jump far enough, she would fall to her death.

"Are you sure?" Moon asked.

"There is a drop to your death sandwiched between the burning flames."

"It's fine, I love the sky." Y said as she gracefully leaped to the other side.

"She's kinda crazy." Moon said, jumping, not so gracefully, to the other side. Crystal turned to Ruby.

"It's your turn."

"Really? I guess. It's not like it matters if I survive or not."

Crystal sighed at Ruby sadly.

'I guess he must be upset after the deaths.'

"Hey don't talk like that. Otherwise, Sapphire will kick your ass." Ruby showed a small smile at Crystal's words.

"Yeah, she probably will." He turned to the flames and jumped. He stumbled, barely getting to the other side.

"Ruby, you alright?" Moon asked.

"I think- oh crap!" Crystal jumped in worry. Luckily, her extensive leg training let her get across without any problems.

Ruby threw off his hat since the ends of it caught fire when he crossed. He stomped on it, trying to save his precious hat. Unfortunately, it was too far gone to be saved when the flame finally went out.

"That was a hat?!" Gold looked up at Ruby's black hair, gaping as he saw his forehead

"Agh!" Ruby threw his hand over his scarred flesh, covering it as he dug through his bag for a spare.

"That's why you're the only one who kept his bag with him." Moon said in realization. The others had left their bags in the entrance hall with Green, as carrying them slowed down their search.

"That was a hat?" Gold asked again.

"Now's not the time! Come on!" Crystal dragged Gold and the others followed her. The hallway was dark, besides the occasional flicker of light.

"So why is your hat green now? It was red before." Gold asked Ruby.

"I don't want to talk about it right now." Ruby sighed as he ran.

"What? You're acting as if I had asked about your forehead." Ruby flinched.

"Let's talk about my green hat."

Grrr

"Wow Gold, just cause he doesn't want to talk about his forehead? What a loser." Moon shook her head.

"Hey! And that wasn't me!" Gold was offended. A shadow flickered at the edge of Ruby's vision.

"Guys!" Ruby panicked. A shadow rose, taking the form of a small child. More and more of the shadows appeared while the group's panic increased.

"What the f-"

The things screeched, their jagged mouths gaping at them.

"RUN!" Crystal yelled for the second time in this chapter. They raced out of the hall, away from the things.

Everyone but Crystal was bent over, panting.

"Uh, shouldn't you be out of breath too?" Moon asked Crystal.

"I've done extensive leg training to earn my title of, 'The Catcher.'" Crystal replied proudly.

"Okay then." Moon sighed.

"Well, I think we should be safe now." Ruby finally caught his breath.

"I thin-" Crystal started. Before she could finish, Gold, who saw behind her shoulder, pushed her off to the side. They toppled over to be by the wall, with Gold covering Crystal.

"What the- Gold?!" The previously named boy swung his billiard cue where Crystal had been previously standing, dispersing some shadow monsters.

"Run Crys! Get out of here!" Gold yelled as he pushed her up.

"I can't lea-"

"Just run!" He smiled sadly.

"I don't want you being the damsel in distress again."

Ruby pulled Crystal's arm.

"C'mon Crystal! He's right! If we stay here-"

"We can't leave Gold to die!"

Y and Moon smiled sadly, knowing it's their only chance of escape.

"Let him be the hero this time. You've had your turn." Y told Crystal while Ruby dragged her.

"Yeah, she gets it. Now go! I'-"

A click sounded throughout the hall. The walls slammed shut, blocking Gold before he could finish speaking.

"GOLD! Are you okay!" Crystal yelled. She was already on the verge of tears. A chuckle was heard.

"I'm fine guys! I'll catch up with you as soon as I'm done with these bastards. Now go, goddamnit!"

"Okay," Crystal wiped her eyes, "but you better survive!"

"I will; now go meet up with the others!"

"You got it!" Ruby yelled back, before running with the other four in the group. Their footsteps echoed throughout the hall.

Gold faced the shadow mob, smirking as he looked at their enlarged numbers.

"I will NOT let you assholes hurt them!"

Chapter 6 is the last chapter is the last chapter Curious Calamity had originally written, so chapter 7 and beyond will be what I had come up with as an ending. I hope you guys like it.
