One Night Stand

L wasn't a huge fan of relationships. The very idea of giving some sort of unresolved dedication for a certain someone rattles her to the bone, as she herself has commitment issues that she has yet to deal with. She could digest the idea of having platonic relationship with people (although almost all her relationships thus so far have been strictly professional), but the idea of being in a romantic one is giving her an icky feeling, one that she couldn't quite grasp why.

"Light...".

Never mind, she fully understands now.

L is standing idly as she watches the interaction between Japan's smartest student and Japan's number one model, Light Yagami and Misa Amane, whom she has (personally) convicted as the first and second Kira.

Although Misa Amane's undying devotions for her significant other has been rather apparent since the very beginning, L is yet to figure out when and where Light's part comes into play; the young man has shown obvious disinterest towards the model, and given their dynamic in their Kira's partnership, it's all the more reason to suspect them even further.

Misa Amane is the second Kira who has the certain ability that only needs a face to kill, and Light Yagami only kept her around, using the tittle 'girlfriend' for an alibi.

"Light...", L was snapped out of her thought by Misa's moaning, "Do you really have to go? I don't want you to spend anymore time with... that".

Well, even is she is an eyesore, don't make it sound like it's so much of an insult.

That hurt. Bad.

"You know I have to, Misa", Light sighed. He sounded more those who were tired than more those who wanted to comfort their sulking girlfriends, but given the situation, L couldn't really blame him. "Once I was able to prove our innocence, we'll be able to go on dates then".

'Don't go sounding too hopeful', L mentally rolled her eyes, 'Even if you are turned out to be innocent, Misa would still have to go to jail'.

"Promise...?", squeaked Misa, pulling the most adorable eyes she could muster. Light only grinned before patting her on the head, smiling, "Of course, Misa. I promise".

Misa smiled at the promise, before eyeing the detective, "Hah! See that? Light is very loyal to Misa!".

'I didn't realise that we were put on test', L promptly thought, confused if it was her or Light that Misa was testing just now, but decided to play along, "Of course, Misa-san. He's all yours".

Liking the defeat, Misa continues, "I don't see why you'd even try! I mean, putting us both side by side, I'm more of a perfect choice for Light!", she claims, rather proudly, "I'm prettier than you, and you're just some perverted hag! I don't understand why— ".

Before Misa could continue with her dishonouring accusation, L weaved a sigh.

"Misa Amane, if there's even one more word come out from your mouth, I'll be forced to kick you".

That effectively shuts her up.

The night has eventually come an end, the curtain has to be dropped; the Task Force bid their goodbye after the long and peculiar day, hoping to see Light at service as the young man is finally recruited into the team (although because of a totally different circumstance).

Both L and Light dropped Misa to her designated floor. It still shocked Light that L was kind enough to give the model her own private space, but realised that it wasn't an act of kindness. The detective insisted on keeping her under surveillance, but allows her to continue with her usual life as it will undoubtedly arouse suspicion if the model who's usually active suddenly went into hiatus without any information prior.

She's also too lazy to deal with the paparazzi (if it does come down to that), something that Light couldn't blame her...

This building is a legitimate skyscraper, after all. They have many rooms to spare. A private floor is nothing.

L has to hold back a gag when the two exchange affections (due to Misa's insertion); they hug, kiss, make out— it was as if the two were destined to never meet each other ever again. In fact, L almost believed that, had she not interfered, the two would've banged instead.

It was a mental image the detective wishes to never had to see, ever.

"That was an unusual amount of time to say goodbye to someone...", L suddenly chirped in, as the two waited in the elevator up to their floor, "I hope Light-kun is aware that there's someone here who doesn't wish to see you to 'get to it', as the young says these days. It is rather distasteful on my part".

Light only smirked, leaning closer, "What? Are you jealous?".

Cocking an eyebrow, L sneered, "Why would I be? The both of you were an item, one that has been established long before. Why would I be jealous?".

Light only snickered, shrugging his shoulder, "I don't know. Maybe you have something for me that even you're not aware of", he stole a glance towards her, "Many ladies tend to do that, actually. They were so bold and calculative at every aspect of their lives that when it comes to their own feelings, they become a mess. Sometimes, all the need is to let go and let their man takes care of them".

He inched closer, whispering into her ear, "Just let go, and feel instead".

L almost slapped him, but held it off. Instead, she looked at him dead in the eyes, glaring, "Do you take me as one of those 'ladies', Light-kun?", that came out as a sneer, almost sounding like a threat, "Because I assure you, I don't get my job mixed up with personal feelings. I like my work better when it's strictly professional, and I don't go catching feelings for criminals I'm profiling on my leisure".

"Do you take me as a criminal, Ryuzaki?", he asked, smirking, "Because, ouch, that hurt. You should try becoming more lady-like. Maybe then people would like you".

"I don't care what people thought of me", she claims, "I remained anonymous in my field of job, remember? The public feedback are mere faceless comments, one that I never bothered to read", sighing, she said, "I think Light-kun cares too much about the audience viewing him. He should— ".

"What if that's not the case?".

L jumped, shocked.

"Pardon?".

"What if that's not the case?", Light repeated, "What if, hypothetically speaking, you are not to remain anonymous? What if, hypothetically speaking, someone stripped you from your shield against the world, and people get to see you as the person who's working behind the screen as L?".

He inched closer, eerily close to her, before asking.

"What if that happened?".

L glares at him, feeling a bit intimidated, but overall pissed by his boldness.

"Is that a threat, Light-kun?".

Smiling, Light resumes back to his former position, grinning like those of a child as the elevator stopped, opening the door to their floor. He walked out first, dragging L behind him as he goes, not bothering to answer her question.

L shook.

What had she got herself into?

"Is this your space, Ryuzaki?", asked Light, examining his surrounding. He doesn't understand why the fact that L is a clean-freak came off as a surprise for him, but it just does; upon entering the door leading to L's 'personal office', he was greeted with a sight of a comfortable lifestyle.

The bed is placed at the middle of the room, white bedsheets remained untainted (he got to do something about that later). There were two lamp post on each side, a single picture frame hanging on the wall occupying the empty space. There were a few tables completing the area, each served with different purpose; one for laptops, one for computers and monitors, one even had a simple coffee-maker with mugs and pots. There were also a few shelves containing books and, undoubtedly, case files. A few papers stacked messily on one of the tables, but Light figures he could let that one slide.

It doesn't end there. If dive in a but deeper, there was a complete set of kitchens, a full bathroom and laundry room; each were placed strategically on different sets of rooms, so the idea isn't an open space. It was rather closed and, dare he said, confined.

Light decided to hold that information dear.

"As you can see, I don't live here very often", L suddenly spoke, "You are free to use the kitchen, but don't expect it to be stocked with ingredients. Watari put stuff in there every once in a while".

Light simply chuckle on the last part. Figures. The woman before him seems to never consume anything but sweets and, occasionally, coffee. Light has to fix that.

"Sure, whatever you say, Ryuzaki", he laughs, feeling L's eyes on him. He tugged on the collar of his shirt, suddenly feeling the change in temperature, "It's kinda hot in here, isn't it? Do you mind if I take a quick shower?".

"If I do that, then your Kira percentage might rise up".

"What?! Are you serious?!", Light shouted, "Is it so Kira of me to take care of my personal hygiene? You're a neat person yourself, Ryuzaki, you must understand how bothersome it is to be sweaty and overall dirty. I hadn't had a decent shower in months!".

And that was true— throughout his confinement, Light wasn't able to properly take care of the state of himself since both of his hands were out of commission. Watari had to come down and hand-feed him himself since he wasn't able to. It does get to the crucial point where he had to brush Light's teeth, which were sternly protested since that is one last sense of control Light absolutely refused to let go.

For L to refused him a shower is absolutely infuriating! Who does she think she is—.

Light paused.

"Ryuzaki, do you want to take a shower together with me?", asked Light, grinning.

L chocked on her saliva; a bit taken back by Light's boldness. Has the two Kira somehow communicate with each other outside of her knowledge? What is it with them ganging up on her and accusing her with a bunch of bold and suggestive statements?

"Why... why would you say that?", L asked, confused. Light simply shrug.

"That's the only explanation as of why you wouldn't let me shower alone, Ryuzaki", Light smirked, "You wouldn't let me shower alone— maybe because you want to ogle me, or shower with me, I really couldn't tell", closing the gap between them, he whispered huskily into her ears, "You could always just ask. I really wouldn't mind, you know, assisting you...".

L almost screamed, "Stop it!".

Light backed away in defeat, as if enjoying the reaction from L. Instead, he asked, "What's the matter?".

"What's the— ", she was speechless, but regains her composure, "Why on Earth would you suggest something like that?".

"What? That's not true?".

"Not remotely close!".

Light laugh, before weaving a sigh, "All jokes aside, I really want to take a shower. I'm sweaty, and by the looks of it, there's no way you're comfortable in your clothes at all", he latches onto the excess of L's sleeves, which were immediately slapped right off the instant. Chuckling, he continues, "So either the both of us put some sorts of strip-off show for each other and wasted so much of valuable time, or we get naked and shower together, like right now".

There was a short pause between them, before Light continues, "And no, not doing either is not a choice. If you don't make the choice now, I'll make it for you. Tick tock, Ryuzaki~".

L close her eyes, utterly defeated. She then sighed.

"First off, I don't like how you phrase things. Second of all, please tell Misa Amane that she is allowed to hate me, but not for too long".

Light smirked, as if had already known of L's decision.

"Roger that".

Light stood naked at the middle of the bathroom, his boxers being the only solace he had from being in utter nudity. The chains that were so persistent hanging by his wrist hung loosely, as there were no one on the other end; the two did have a short argument regarding of them, since there is no way for them to discard their clothes other than physically taking them off (or cut open their clothes, which is a sacrifice Light is not willing to make).

In the end, they agreed to take off the cuffs temporarily for comfort measures before being put on right off the instance.

Which means Light had the cuffs slapped on his wrists the moment his shirt was taken off.

So now there he is, turning his attention on a dull marble wall, giving Ryuzaki 'privacy' (something he hadn't given the privilege of for a good month, but oh well). He stood as the chain's dangles, indicating that the other end is being moved by a certain force. He waited and listened to the very much familiar 'clink', before was given the permission to turn around.

He chokes.

There, standing before him, was a naked L; her arms hugged her cleavage close as means of closure from him (well, at least she has some decency) and she's wearing nothing but a simple cotton silk undergarment. There was a tint of red blushing on her cheeks, though it was barely visible. Although there was a hint of shyness showed, her eyes are still sharp and calculative as ever.

In any case, she looks unimpressed rather than anything.

"What is it?", she asked, raising a brow, "Is Light-kun perhaps surprise that I do, indeed, possessed a woman body parts? That I am not a male casually stating that he is a female?", she sighed, "Then I apologise. Sorry to break it to you, but I am a woman".

"No, it's not that. It's just...", he laughs, before peeking over, "You really do have a nice body".

L paused. Seemingly confused by the statement. She looks at him as if he has grown a second head, eyes squinting. "Are you... are you joking?".

"No", claimed Light, holding both of his hands up defensively, "You do have a pretty figure. Broad shoulder, smooth skin, lithe...", he trails off, smiling, "Exactly my type".

L wanted to argue. Damn, how she wanted to tell Light that it's inappropriate for him to be making those remarks for another women, all in while being involved with one. She wants to yell at him so bad for making her feel things, a certain emotion she hasn't felt for long (that isn't annoyance), and how she wanted to hold him accountable. It was unfair; why does he kept acting like this?

It hasn't even been their first night!

Instead, she let it all in and let out a sigh. "I appreciate your comments, Light-kun, but must I remind him that it is not me that should be receiving them? You're with Misa... I can't just—", grumbling, she pinched the bridge of her nose, as if warding off a headache, "You can't just be in a relationship, then go ahead and ruin it just because you can't keep your manhood mature in your pants. Misa-san must be so upset had she known about this".

'And for God's sake, please stop', L mentally begged, 'I don't even know if I'm able to hold myself too...'.

Light smiles in defeat, rubbing the crook of his neck apologetically, "I guess you're right, I really shouldn't be too comfortable", he then looks at her, "Could you make a promise to me and never mention anything to Misa, though? I'd hate to be in a drama".

"Certainly. Light-kun".

"Thank you, L".

"...including this".

And with that, Light captures L's lips with his own.
