Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Stone-Cold Hearts. Enjoy the 2500-word chapter. I don't own My Hero Academia. Shonen Jump, Kohei Horikoshi and a few others do.
Obsidian was quite interested in his surroundings. He was trapped within a cube no bigger than a tank. He looked forward as the sound of footsteps trudged up towards him. Obsidian made no effort to escape his bonds. He simply looked ahead at the man meeting with him.
"I suppose I don't have to make the usual threats?" Obsidian heard which caused him to shake his head back and forth. "Ok then, the guards should have explained." Obsidian heard to which he chuckled.
"They didn't, with all due respect," Obsidian stated, slowly pushing himself to his feet. "But I doubt they can be blamed, sir. They're not exactly fond of me or anyone else." Obsidian added as he shook his head, unsure of what to do.
"You're not exactly someone who people trust yet." He heard to which he chuckled as the cell slowly opened. "And if I see any signs of you posing a threat to anyone? You will…" He heard, causing him to turn.
"I thought you asked if you needed to use threats," Obsidian said before he sighed. "They betrayed me; I did not betray them. I was told the police had the camera footage that showed the truth. I have no intention of being a backstabber AFTER I got backstabbed. If you think being a thief was so evil? Then please, put me back in. If they knew I was alive? I'd be dead anyway." Obsidian said before he hummed.
He was glad he had never met the League's former leader. If the man stopped thinking of Obsidian as anything but a nobody? Then he'd have been dead for good, without a quirk as well.
"You know I only have the police file on your quirk." He heard which caused him to hum.
"If you'd like to talk about it?" Obsidian said as they walked. "Then let me talk somewhere else. There's nobody who won't hesitate to kill me here." Obsidian stated as he shook his head.
"And what makes you think there's no hero who doesn't want you dead?" Obsidian heard as they walked.
"What's stopping them from doing it here?" Obsidian questioned in response. "If I was that irredeemable? Why offer me a chance?" Obsidian questioned; eyebrow raised as he did so.
"I believe the least evil criminals should have another chance." He heard as they stepped onto a lift. "I know someone like you. They like to pretend they're a monster so people don't know they're scared down inside." Obsidian heard as he hummed.
"You a mind reader?" Obsidian questioned, looking around at the massive walls around them. "You seem pretty confident to someone who trusts me without any precautions. Then again? I'm not stupid enough to think you don't have something figured out." Obsidian said as he hummed.
"Then you are smarter than most people currently." Obsidian heard as he turned to the hero. "And no, I'm not. I'm just smart enough to understand how a thief thinks. You've made it clear you're either too arrogant to use his quirk to its full potential… Or too clever to know what would happen if they ever knew." Obsidian said.
He nodded at this, gazing around the room. This hero was smart. He was clever enough for Obsidian to respect him. Power was one thing, but it didn't equal cunning.
"I'll let you figure out which. It makes the effort worth the reward." Obsidian snarked before he rubbed at his nose. "You brought a student here? I watched someone who doesn't look pro yet come here before." Obsidian stated as he shook his head, ready to leave.
He knew there was a plan, something was going to happen. There wasn't much to do besides think about how this happened when it came down to it. Obsidian was quite curious about what happened next. He was aware for a fact that there was going to be tested, the league would know he lived.
"Yes," Obsidian heard to which he nodded, hanging his head as he did so. "Now be quiet, I'm sure you have a lot of questions for later." Obsidian heard while he cleared his throat.
'Whatever the catch is? I don't care…. If this is a second chance? Then I'm taking it. The league can try their 'destroy society and build it back better plan. I don't care at the moment, they stabbed me in the back? I'll tear them all down in return.' Obsidian thought to himself while he prepared for the next phase of this plan.
He closed his eyes while he started to clear his throat. He didn't feel much of his power returning to him at the moment and he knew they'd be keeping a close eye on him so he didn't hurt someone. It was only natural considering his quirk and what he was capable of at the moment. It was simply something that was part of who they were as heroes and it was something he'd have to adapt to.
Still? It was an annoyance that rather amused him the more it dragged. If one was locked up and was being escorted around the town?
"Hmm," Obsidian said while he leaned on the walls and slowly shook his head. "This is going to be fun if they find out. I wonder who their send to try and kill me when this is done and over. They want me dead which means that they're entirely set on sending someone who won't leave a body behind." Obsidian stated to himself while he rolled his eyes.
Obsidian closed his eyes while he started to think before he started to think of what they'd do when they stopped. They'd question him to find answers about the league which made him annoyed.
Still? It was better than jail in his mind. Obsidian did want to know what happened if they decided to try and silence him. Obsidian was by no means a bad fighter, but he'd also be probably breaking whatever rule they put on him.
Obsidian wanted to think of what the students would possibly think of him. If he did end up going to the place where the man had said? He'd be surrounded by students which also meant a pro hero would HAVE to be looking after him.
'This isn't going to be easy, but it was that simple? It probably wouldn't be as satisfying to me. How long until the league realizes I'm not dead? They didn't seem to consider me worth a damn alive. Why their creepy-ass boss didn't just burn away my body or something is beyond me. They find out sooner or later even if people try to hide the truth.' Obsidian thought to himself while he put a hand to his head.
He was loaded into police van a few minutes later, a quartet of police all surrounded him at the moment. The stone-based superpowered being said nothing while this occurred, the security was expected for two reasons which he understood. They wanted to make sure he didn't escape, and they didn't want someone to hurt him.
The ride slowly moved through the city. He could hear sirens that echoed like bullets in his ears. This was possibly a new start for him which he wanted. Obsidian had been many things, all of which people were allowed to blame him for.
"Keep still." Obsidian heard as he raised an eyebrow and turned towards the other end of the van.
"I'm not moving," Obsidian responded while setting his hands next to him. "Trust me, that's not how my quirk works. I can't throw stones I can't see." Obsidian added to which the other police was silent.
Obsidian tried to be just as silent. He was a thief, a powerful thief, but still a thief. He didn't want to hurt someone if he didn't have to. There was also the fact that the villains hated the disrespect for their plans and the hesitation for parts of it.
One of the officers towards him. It was an older officer, one who seemed to think little of him considering the look.
"Do you want to shoot me, officer?" Obsidian asked himself more than the man in front of him. "I'm not saying anything that might get me shot," Obsidian stated while he waited for this ride to be over.
"If you're a thief?" The officer asked, gaining a raised eyebrow. "Why did you join them? Their monsters." Obsidian heard to which he nodded towards the officer.
"Because I didn't think they'd be like that," Obsidian stated while he frowned to himself as he shook his head. "There's not anything to do at the end of the day," Obsidian added while he frowned to himself and started to lean his head into his head.
He was at least interested in what best to do with these sorts of soldiers at the end of the day. He was not going to scream if it came down to it. There was nothing for him to do at the end of the day and he was rather annoyed at the lack of things as he sighed to himself.
He was well aware of what to do next. He simply waited for a moment before he frowned at the other soldiers. Obsidian didn't want to bother these soldiers with their menial lives and their problems at the moment. There were plenty of issues when it came down to it. The more he bothered them? The less time he had to focus on his problems which took root in his brain. He was on the path to being a hero and all it seemed to take? One small misstep made him wonder if it was worth it. He had burned himself a large way when he walked this path and he'd be damned if he didn't take it to the end.
He slumped in his seat while he slowly started to drift to sleep. They'd probably rudely wake him when it came down to it. He didn't mind it when it came down to it. He was once more as he frowned to himself.
He shook his head before he frowned to himself closed his eyes and started to think to himself. He slowly started to slip into sleep as he frowned to himself.
"Wait, is he sleeping?" He stated to himself before he frowned to himself. "He is sleeping. Why?" One of the soldiers stated before he rolled his eyes towards her.
"He's sleeping." He said before he frowned to herself. "Because when we get there? He's supposed to be handed off to someone and that will be the end of it. All we're doing is bringing him there and letting them handle the rest. Don't worry. He won't be a problem to anyone else." He heard with a frown as he pondered what they meant.
Who was he being handed off to? They had probably arranged for a hero to speak to him when he showed up. He expected some disdain, some part of him was still annoyed he was treated as less than human… But in his mind? This had been the best option considering he had no reason to trust them and they equally had no reason to trust him.
'Still? There's got to be something I can do to change that at least a little when it comes down to it. If I'm going to be something new? I shouldn't act the same way I had been. It's best to let that die with the old me. They had their chances to try and kill me and they failed. I'm not going to screw up another chance.' Obsidian thought to himself before he slowly felt sleep take him.
He wanted to be a hero and wanted to break down these last walls between him and that goal. He might have still slightly been a thief, but he wasn't going to die a villain if he had anything else resembling a sense of honor.
He sighed as he realized he was still thinking to himself weirdly rather than simply speaking. He was bored and this allowed him to best think of a way to handle their problems. The second he stepped onto the stage once more? They'd all try and slice him to pieces and silence him from telling the truth of their operations. It bothered him a lot that he was treated as he was.
"Hmm," Obsidian said before he cleared his throat and let out a yawn as he did so. "Too much pain in this world which is sad," Obsidian said he cracked his fingers as he did so.
There was a pain that crossed his body in agony. He felt thrown off by his surroundings and he raised his eyebrow as he did so. This was going to take a longer time to fix what he had done and he needed more time to adjust his brain and deal with it all properly.
He cleared his throat for a moment and then gazed at one of the soldiers in front of him. They had stared at him with a glance that seemed to hold both endless disgust and yet interest in what to do next. He cleared his mind as well before he closed his eyes.
"What do we do next?" Obsidian asked the soldier in front of him. "They will come. I am wanted dead by my former friends if they can even be called that." Obsidian said before he lowered his gaze towards the ground with annoyance.
No, he wasn't able to call them that anymore. Not only were they nothing but enemies who had tried to end his life? They were also terrorists who had tried to end the city in a fire before anyone was able to do anything to stop them. They weren't to harm anyone else when it came to it and he'd be damned if he hadn't stopped him.
"This is going to be rather horrible," Obsidian stated while he crossed his arms as he sighed to himself. "There are many soldiers that are here. Yet I'm well aware of the fact that they can kill both of us." Obsidian stated while he rolled his eyes.
"And how many people did you kill?" Obsidian heard before he cleared his throat. "It's not going to be rather interested," Obsidian said while he rolled his throat before he started to think.
Obsidian started to ponder how best to deal with the rest of the monsters. He sighed before he leaned on the wall while the truck moved.
