"So, does he want to kill me or not?" Remus asked, his voice muffled as he pulled his jumper over his head.

"He's not my keeper, Remus," she replied.

And even though he couldn't see her, he knew she was rolling her eyes.

'Pop', his head came free of the neck opening.

"I know that but he does care about you very much."

And that was downplaying it. Mad-Eye was like that crazy relative everyone seemed to have. Dora had dubbed him her crazy uncle and all, though Remus had yet to hear her call him that to his face.

"Well, yes," she agreed. "He's awesome like that. By the way, your jumpers on backwards."

Remus looked down at himself and frowned. So it was. A brief struggle later and it was the right way around.

"Do you have everything?" he checked with her, patting himself down.

Wallet? Check. Wand? Check. Watch? Check. Keys? Not check. Wait, he had wards - he didn't need keys.

"I only need to bring myself, my ring and you," Dora told him. "It's not like my parents will ever let me bring food."

"I don't blame them."

That earned him an admittedly well-deserved punch to the arm. But he was right, Dora really couldn't cook. However, she did know all the best takeaways which was a very valid skill. But she couldn't deny that she couldn't cook.

"You're awfully unconcerned about going to tell my parents," she said suspiciously, making him smile.

Maybe he should have pretended to be nervous for her? But she would have just seen right through it.

Her eyes were narrowed at him at his lack of response.

"Why are you not worried?"

"Do you want me to be worried?"

She made an impatient noise. "Oh, you know what I mean."

"I really don't."

"We're about to tell my parents that you asked me to marry them," she tried to explain. "You know the ones who weren't entirely impressed by your actions? Aren't you worried about what their reactions will be? You don't know how they're going to react?"

And now she was working herself up as she was trying to figure out why he wasn't worked up. This wasn't how it was supposed to go at all.

"I have full confidence that it will be fine, Dora," Remus tried to sooth her.

"But what if they disapprove? What if they don't want us to get married just yet? That it's too soon? That-"

"Dora."

"- we're crazy? Or we're rushing things or-"

"Dora."

"Maybe we should talk to them one at a time. Or would both together be better? Remus, I don't kn-"

"Dora!"

That finally got her to stop and look at him with wild eyes. This was definitely not how it was supposed to go. It was supposed to be exciting! Who would have thought that she would have been the worrier and he was the calm one in this situation? But then again, he did have a rather unfair advantage.

"It's going to be okay," he said confidently.

"But how can you be sure?" she fretted.

"Because they're your parents. The love you. They're going to be happy for you."

She didn't look to convinced at that. Okay. Right. Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

"And, well, maybe, because I asked them if I could marry you."

That sentence was said very fast and without looking at her. It was quite a normal, if maybe old-fashioned thing to do but admitting it still made Remus feel awkward.

But it looked like Dora didn't mind, if the strength at which she was hugging him was anything to go by. Which was starting to restrict his ability to breath.

"Oh, thank Merlin," she said, voice muffled by her head being firmly against his chest. "I was so worried about what they would think."

"Well, they gave me the third degree, your father in particular, but they were okay with it."

"Just okay?" she asked anxiously.

"More than," he corrected.

They did seem pleased with him, which was a nice feeling. Yes, they were adults and didn't necessarily need permission from anyone but he respected the Tonks' too much not to do it. And he did like some aspects of tradition.

"Wait, you asked my dad?"

"Actually, I asked both of your parents," Remus corrected.

He didn't think Dora's eyebrows could climb any higher on her forehead but here they were.

"Not that I think they own you or anything," he said quickly, realising where her thoughts were going. "I just wanted to make sure that, well, that they really were okay with me and you..."

His voice trailed off as Dora just stared at him. Why wasn't she saying anything? It was unnatural for her to say nothing.

And she didn't say anything. She did something. As in, she kissed him full on the lips. Which he, after a moment's shock, reciprocated fully.

"You are so sweet." She said, once she broke away.

That always made him gave her a goofy grin.

"Glad you think so."

Then he had an armful of her and bright pink hair up his nose. He was also being squeezed to death. Instinctively, he returned the hug.

"So, they're really okay with it?"

"Well, let's put it this way; you weren't the first Tonks to say yes to me."

There was a pause and, thankfully, that got her giggling.

Surprisingly, after all that they weren't running late. Not that it took long to apparate...

Remus had to hide his amusement at Andromeda coming out of her house to greet them as soon as they appeared, not even giving them a chance to knock in the door. Ted trailed along behind her, unable to contain a smile.

"Hi, mum, hi, dad," Dora greeted, careful not to wave with the hand with her ring on it.

Which did not amuse Andromeda, who was trying to subtly look at Dora's firmly out of sight hands. It did, however, amuse Dora.

She leaned into her mother's hug without exposing her and did the same with Ted. She dodged around Andromeda to do so, so she wouldn't go behind Dora and see the ring.

"Nymphadora!" Andromeda finally scolded in exasperation. "You know what we are looking for, so show us it!"

"Andy!" Ted tried to scolded but he was laughing too hard.

Still with her hands behind her back, Dora replied, "You know exactly what's happened so why do you need to see it?"

You know, if Andromeda Tonks nee Black was giving him that look, Remus would be doing anything she asked of him. But not Dora, of course not.

"That's not the point and you know it."

Dora drew out the moment a bit longer until Andromeda looked like she was going to forcibly yank her hand out.

"You want to see this, then?" she asked, holding her hand out with the glittering ring.

Andromeda did actually yank her hand forwards so she could get a good look at it, much to everyone's amusement.

"Congratulations," Ted said warmly, giving him a hug - which surprised Remus as he had been going in for a handshake.

"You are going to tell me everything," Andromeda was telling Dora.

"Mu-um!"
