Remus couldn't help but pace the Tonks' kitchen. It was where he had been placed and told very sternly not to move, lest he see Nymphadora. She was here, upstairs, getting ready. For their wedding. Which was in a... he looked up at the clock, half an hour. Actually, twenty-seven minutes if you to be exact. Which he was. Only two minutes less from when he last looked.

That was both top far away and way, way too close. Should we go outside and pace? It would give him more room but would it better if he was contained?

"I don't think your soon-to-be in-laws are going to appreciate you wearing a hole in their tiles," Minerva told him.

"Oh, leave him be, Minerva. The boy is just nervous." Poppy scolded.

Remus had to smile at that. He was always going to be a child in Poppy's eyes.

"As he should be," Alastor grunted. "Constant Vigilance."

"Not for his wedding, Alastor."

"You should always have Constant Vigilance."

The two women gave him exasperated looks and shook their heads. They knew as well as Remus did that there was no arguing with the grizzled, old ex-Auror. Not when it came to safety. Trust him to make feeling nervous a good thing. Though, Remus was pretty sure he wouldn't recognise a threat even if it smacked him upside the head today. All his nerves and anxiety were focused on his wedding.

Why was he so nervous when he was marrying the literal light of his life? Someone who he loved, was friends with and got fondly exasperated with? They were perfect for each other, right? Then why all these nerves, it just didn't make sense. It wasn't like something was going to go wrong, right? The wedding was small. Simple. No mess, no fuss. Just how they both wanted it.

Something was going to go wrong, wasn't it?

"Nothing's going to go wrong," Kingsley told him, jerking him out of his thoughts.

He had forgotten he was also in the kitchen with him, Poppy, Alastor and Minerva. Charlie's Weasley was here as well.

"Except maybe Tonks tripping over her own feet down the aisle," Charlie sniggered.

That earned him three quite terrifying glares from Poppy, Minerva and Alastor. The three Dora had been fondly referring to as 'The Actual Adults' for some reason. Something about being the least likely people to be ridiculous to day. Or ever. Which was fair enough, he supposed.

"Aren't you here for Dora?" Remus asked the two younger men.

He was friendly enough with the pair of them but Dora was very close to them. Hence, their presence at the wedding.

"I am not going anywhere near Mrs Tonks on Tonks' wedding," Charlie stressed with a horrified look on his face. "She's been trying to neaten things up all day. She tried to iron Mr Tonks' suit on him."

"She tried to polish my head," Kingsley added solemnly.

That was something Remus wished he could have seen.

"I had been wondering why I could smell furniture polish in here," he told the younger man.

It wasn't something you usually smelled in a kitchen.

"Oh, leave her be," Minerva clucked. "Her only child is getting married today."

"Shocking," Charlie muttered which earned him a glare.

Remus couldn't help but smile. Married. He was getting married today. To Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks. The best person in the world.

"He's got that look on his face again," Charlie muttered only to almost immediately yelp. "All four of you didn't have to hit me!"

Frantic footsteps went across the ceiling and down the stairs. Remus couldn't help but tense. And then there was the sound of heels on the wooden floor in the hall. Ah, that would be Andromeda.

And he was right. His soon-to-be mother-in-law opened the door a crack and poked her head in.

"Oh, thank Merlin, you're still here."

"Yes?" Remus said in confusion as Charlie and Kingsley sniggered behind him.

"She's nearly ready," Andromeda informed him, stepping into the kitchen. "Go fix yourself up," she instructed, waving a hand vaguely up and down him.

Remus looked down at himself and frowned. What exactly was wrong with him? There were no stains on his suit (he hadn't even eaten anything today - too nervous) and everything was ironed and pressed to the crispness he liked. Well, except for the sleeves of his robes. Um. There were a lot of creases there. Apparently, he clenched on them when he paced. And he had been doing a lot of pacing. It was not a good look.

Suddenly all of the creases sorted themselves out and a faint tingling went across his body. Remus looked up in confusion to see Alastor with his wand out.

"Ironing charm," he grunted. "Always good in a pinch. Can't have you going out there looking dishevelled."

"Thank you," he said gratefully.

Knowing his luck, he would have probably ripped his clothes if he tried anything on them.

"Looking good, Remus," Kingsley said appreciatively.

Remus gave him a weak smile, nerves very much catching up to him. Andromeda paid no attention to this and gave him a critical look and then a sharp nod. He supposed he passed muster.

Then she turned her attention to the rest of the ragtag wedding party slash guests.

"Go and sit down. We should be starting soon," she chivvied.

They all did as they were told, Charlie in particular giving her a wide berth. Probably due to the slightly manic look in her eyes. Poor man. He couldn't get away with mothers of brides and grooms. Pretty quickly, Remus was the only one left.

"Thought you could do with a minute alone," Andromeda said lowly.

Actually, yes. He could. Just some time to gather his thoughts.

"Thank you," he said gratefully.

"You'll be fine."

He really hoped so. There were no longer butterflies in his chest but raging hippogriffs. James and Sirius knew how to calm him down when he got like this - they would make him laugh or get him exasperated. But they weren't here to do that.

No. He wasn't going to think like that. No tears on his wedding day. They were here in spirit. Andromeda gave him a knowing look but didn't say anything. She didn't need too. They were both missing the same people, after all.

"Go to the end of the garden," she hissed suddenly, giving him a sharp shove.

Remus blinked. Was it time already? He looked up at the kitchen clock. It was! And then he heard what Andromeda must have heard - footsteps from above. He all but bolted for the door.

It was a simple set up. A row of chairs split down the middle to form an aisle with an archway of flowers at the front. There was a small podium for Alastor to stand at as officiant.

He stood in his spot and tried very hard not to fidget with his sleeves. Alastor would not approve. Andromeda slipped into her seat, one seat out from the aisle.

Remus took a shuddering breath. It was basically time. Music played softly from somewhere- he didn't know where but that didn't matter. His wedding was starting. Was it normal to feel lightheaded?

Then he saw her and his breath was taken clear away.
