"This. This isn't good, Remus," Dora said as she paced in front of the fireplace.

They had just returned from an Order meeting where the main subject had been to do with the Muggleborn Registration. Or, rather, the results of it. The act of not registering on it, to be precise. And it wasn't looking good at all.

Between Arthur and Kingsley's listening in at the Ministry and reports from skulking around Knockturn Alley, it was becoming apparent that the Death Eaters were not just going to let people not be registered on it and remain uninterrogated. Was that a word? Remus felt like that should be a word.

And there was no point in pretending that the consequences of being picked up by the Death Eaters for not showing up would not be severe. Because they would, especially since how horrible those trials were rumoured to be. No one had been able to figure out what happened, just that Demnetors were involved somehow - something that those Muggleborns who had managed to escape the Ministey had informed them of. Remus found himself hoping that that meant Azkaban rather than anything... else. Oh, what a world they were living in when Azkaban was the better option.

"How can they be moving so fast?" She asked.

"They're the ones in power. They have all the resources."

More resources than they, the Order, would ever have. The Ministry could do whatever they liked.

"We need to tell dad," she said and then she sat down and sighed heavily. "Or, maybe not? I don't know. Not with all this talk about him leaving. Would that push him towards it? Or would it make him stay?"

"We can't not tell him," Remus said.

They couldn't. Not when it affected him personally. It just wouldn't be right and it would put him at risk. Well, more of a risk.

Another sigh from Dora as she covered her face with her hands and then uncovered it again.

"I know."

Remus suspected that this would spur on Ted's decision about going on the run. It was going to happen, the two of them knew it but Dora had been firmly in denial about it. Not saying a word about it.

"Come on," he urged. "Let's do it now."

And not give Dora a chance to overthink it.

"Can't we wait? Get some more information?"

"You know we can't. He has to know what he's going up against."

"He shoukd6nt be going up against anything," she grumbled but got to her feet.

They apparated over to Andromeda's and Ted's. As soon as they arrived they knew that something had changed. The atmosphere in the house was tense. Almost fearful.

Remus was first to see why. Ted was in the living room, which wasn't an odd occurrence (obviously), but what he was doing was. He was packing. Packing a bag to be exact. Which meant only one thing.

"You're leaving," Dora said flatly, coming to to same conclusion as him.

"Dora!" Ted exclaimed, jumping back from the bag and coming over to her. He gave her a hug and shook Remus' hand. "What are you doing here?"

"Came to tell you something."

Ted gave his daughter a knowing look. "It doesn't happen to be more about the Muggleborn Registration and what is going to happen to those who didn't show up?"

"Yes," Dora said quietly.

"You already know?" Rekus asked, stepping forward.

Ted shrugged. "I know something is bound to happen. I just don't intend to be around for them to show me."

That was fair. Whatever they thought would happen, the Death Eaters would probably exceed.

"But dad-"

"No, Dora. This has to happen."

"The Order could put you in a safe house," Remus offered.

They didn't really have a lot of those anymore but maybe they could put him in with the Durselys? No, there was no room in that house. There was barely enough space for the Durselys never mind someone else. And Ted was shaking his head.

"That's not a guarantee."

"Neither is going on the run." Remus countered.

"It's slightly better. They know who they're looking for with me. I couldn't live with myself putting anyone at risk like that."

"There's the Fidelius Charm." Remus said quietly.

That was always an option. A drastic one but an option.

"Can anyone here cast it?" Ted countered.

Remus shook his head along with everyone else. They couldnt. Not in its current form anyway. Research had indicated that there was possibly a modification that could be made but it wasn't clear. It was a complicated charm and the risks were too high if you got it wrong.

"Were you at least going to say goodbye?" Dora asked.

Ted's guilty look said everything and Dora made an angry noise at the back of her throat.

"It's easier if I just go."

"And I've told you that you don't have to." Andromeda said angrily, pushing her hair back from her face.

"I do," Ted said gently. "You know that."

"We can put up more security measures," Andromeda said weakly like she'd said all this before and knew she was going to be rebuffed. "Go into hiding properly."

And now Ted was shaking his head. "No, that puts you in the crossfire when they just want me. If I leave they'll go looking for me and leave you alone."

"What if I don't want to be left alone?" Andromeda demanded. What if I want to be with you? Stay with you?"

Her voice broke on the last word and immediately Ted was by her side and wrapping her in a hug.

"Oh, Annie."

Remus found himself wanting to look away from the scene in front of him. Even though there was no crying or any obvious emotional outburst. It was just uncomfortable to witness something so... intimate. The shuffling of Dora's feet next to him indicated that she was thinking of the same thing.

"You know this has to happen," he heard Ted say softly to her.

Andromeda mumbled something that even Remus couldn't pick up as her face was firmly buried in Ted's chest. Ted stroked the back of head, gently running his hands through her curls. Dora moved closer to him and Remus wrapped an arm around her.

Andromeda and Ted soon parted, both with a look of longing on their faces. But also of resolution. Everything seemed so much more settled now. Like a decision had firmly been made. And Remus supposed it had, in a way.

"Have you got all you need?" Andormeda asked, turning to practicality for refuge.

"Yes."

"Money?"

"Yes."

"Food?"

"I can buy what I need."

"You're taking food with you."

Andromeda went into the kitchen and came back with biscuits, crackers, a packet of bacon and a whole bag of apples. She proceeded to grab his bag off him and shove them in the top.

Remus felt his lips twitching at this even if it was inappropriate.

"Well, this is goodbye, then," Ted said awkwardly, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

Dora suddenly ran toward him and wrapped him in a hug.

"It's not going to be forever," she said in a wobbly voice as Ted tightened his arms around her.

"Definitely not," Andromeda said in an attempt to sound confident.

Ted pulled an arm free and brought her into the hug as well. Remus felt a pang at what was going to be lost.

"Get over here, Remus. It's a group hug." Ted directed.
