Flashback
Soaring through the air my Charizard flew us towards Pewter City. I had decided flying there would get us there faster so I could have Nurse Joy check up on all my Pokemon especially Maximus to make sure he will heal correctly. It didn't take long for Draco to arrive at Pewter City around noon time and as usual once he landed people stared at him.
I walked through the doors of the Pokemon Center up to the counter where a Chansey stood.
"Hello Chansey could you please get Nurse Joy for me?"
"Chansey..Chansey," she replies with a nod walking to the back to retrieve Nurse Joy.
While I wait Draco comes up to me from behind nudging my back growling to get my attention. I look to him to see a Charmander standing beside home looking up at him with hearts in her eyes.
'Oh my, looks like Draco has an admirer.'
I giggle at his predicament and Draco growls at me in irritation, eyes narrowing saying 'help me get rid of this pest'. I shake my head and look around then Chansey comes back with Nurse Joy in tow.
She smiles at me, "Hello Ms. how may I help you?"
"If you could please take a look at my Pokemon mostly my Growlithe who had been injured badly and if you could help me with one more thing?"
"Oh and what would that be?" she asks with a tilt of her head.
I point down indicating for her to look where I'm pointing which she does. She first looks to my Charizard and gasps at her appearance then down lower and sees the little Charmander gazing at Draco with adoration. Nurse Joy looks back to me nodding in understanding she then walks over to the speaker phone.
"Attention, attention please whoever is missing a Charmander please come to the front desk. I repeat whoever is missing a Charmander please come to the front desk, thank you."
Smiling I say, "Thank you, I don't know how much more Draco could take of this little one following him around."
"It's no trouble, but pertaining don't blame the Charmander for being so in awe of him like myself I've never seen a Charizard like him. Not only is his coloring so unique, but he's so much bigger than any Charizard I've ever seen. It's obvious that you've raised your Charizard very well."
I can't help, but feel pride bloom in my chest at her praise and I know Draco is puffed up like a Glameow at her praise as well.
"I appreciate being praised by people such as you Nurse Joy. It tells me that I'm raising my Pokemon correctly and that's all that matters me because I want my Pokemon to be the best I know they can be."
"Of course dear, now how about I take a look at your Pokemon while you wait here. It won't take long for to get them back to full health."
I nod my head, "Alright," I turn to Draco taking out his Pokeball, "Okay big guy I need to put you back in here so she can get you back to your full strength."
He nods his head then presses his nose to the ball putting himself back in. I then hand over my other Pokeballs for her to take.
"Thank you, I'll be right back," she the walk off.
"Char,Char, Charmander!"
I jump in surprise forgetting about the little Charmander and look to down to see her looking rather upset at the disappearance of Draco.
I kneel down petting her on the head, "Don't worry little one he's just fine, but I think now is the time to find your trainer."
She shakes her head, crossing her arms then sits down on the floor with her head to up to the side away from me. I'll admit she's cute, but I've already felt with a difficult Charmander once there was no way I am going to do it again.
I sigh crossing my arms over my chest, "Okay obviously you're not going to listen to reason," she shakes her head again, "so I'll just find him once I get my Pokemon back from Nurse Joy."
As Nurse Joy had said it didn't take her long for her to return back with my Pokemon.
"All perfectly healthy and ready to go," she say while handing them over with a smile. She then sees the Charmander still there, "Oh dear her trainer still hasn't come back for her?"
I shake my head, "No, but it's fine I'll just look around town to find her trainer I'm sure they just got separated."
"Thank you I appreciate you doing that it really would help with me being busy taking care of the injured Pokemon here."
"Of course, have a good Nurse Joy," I say as I walk away with the small Charmander following behind me.
"You too dear and thank you again!"
I'm starting to think this Charmander is so much worse than Draco was when he was one, but then again he was pretty bad at this stage of his evolution. This Charmander just won't stop crying and I know she's crying because she wants Draco however I know if I give into her she'll only get worse. Not just for me, but do her trainer as well.
With her crying it feels like forever since she started following me while I search for her missing trainer, but it's only been 10 minutes. 'If this goes on any longer I'll take some cotton balls from my bad and stuff them in my ears to block her incessant whining.' I roll my eyes hoping to find her trainer soon.
Not too much longer I hear the shouting of someone calling a Charmander and I look around to pinpoint where the shouts are coming from, but it's crowded. I grab hold of Maximus' Pokeball tossing it into the air releasing him.
"Maximus I need your help," I call into the air as he comes out of the Pokeball.
"Growl, Groowwll!" He calls into the air land on the ground in a graceful bound. He then looks to me for his command.
"Maximus I need you to locate whoever that is who is shouting out for his Charmander."
He nods turns around listening for the voice. Once he does he starts to jog in the direction he hears the voice coming from. I bend down picking up the crying Charmander and jog behind Maximus following to where he is leading me. While he jogs Maximus makes sure that I'm still right behind him so I don't get lost in the ground.
Just beyond the ground I see a boy about maybe 14 years old with black hair and green eyes looking around franticly shouting out for his Charmander.
"Charmander! Charmander where are you?!"
He then looks towards me seeing his little Charmander in my arms and his face morphs into one of relief then anger. I have a feeling he's mad because he's seeing his Pokmon crying.
"HEY YOU!" He shouts at me pointing at me, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY CHARMANDER!"
I stop blinking at his tone a voice becoming very irritated, "I'm sorry why are you telling at the girl who found your Pokemon and went out of her way to find her irresponsible trainer who lost her in the first place."
"What," he balks back at my words, "I'm not irresponsible I can't help if we got separated and besides it's obvious that you somehow made her cry probably with you're rotten personality ," he says.
My eyes narrow and I hear Maximus growl beside me, "Me," I point towards myself holding the still crying Charmander with my left arm, "excuse me, but the only thing rotten here is this Charmanders trainer and I'm not the reason she's crying."
"Oh? Then why is she crying? I don't see why she would be other than being force to be with a bitch like you."
My eyebrow ticks, 'Okay that is it!'
"You know what," I say slowly trying to stay calm, "the reason why your Charmander is crying is due to the fact my Charizard, Draco, is no longer in her sights for it seems she is smitten with him."
He look at me like the mere idea is absolutely absurd, "Yeah right you're just trying to make an excuse for whatever you've done to my Charmander."
"Alright if you don't believe me I'll just prove it to you," I remove Draco's Pokeball then release him. "Come out, Draco you're needed."
He appears in a flash roaring with a breath of fire shooting towards the sky and the little Charmander immediately stops her crying at the sight of Draco. She jumps from my arm going straight to Draco rubbing up against his leg while a tick mark appears on his forehead ignoring her the best he could.
Putting my hands on my waist I say, "Now do you believe me or do I need to knock some sense into you."
He chuckles nervously rubbing the back of his head, "Ah no I don't think that will be necessary." He looks away from me for a moment his face now looking guilty, "Listen," he says looking back to me, "I'm sorry about what I said and the things I accused you of. It's just she looked so upset and I was so worried about her that I went straight to the assumption that you caused her harm. I'm so sorry," he bows with his low and I new he is sincere.
"Look, first stand up straight I understand," he looks up to me face shocked written on his face, "I would of probably done the same thing as you did. Sometimes the love for our Pokemon takes over all sense so I forgive you."
A bright smile spreads across his face," Thank you, thank you, thank you," he says while running over to me, hugging me.
I smile petting his back, "If you don't mind could you please release me."
He immediately jumps back, "Right, so sorry."
I chuckle then look back towards the Pokemon. Draco looks to annoyed while the little Charmander tries to grab his attention and Maximus snickers at the miserable look on my Charizard's face.
I look back to the Charmanders trainer, "I think you should get your Charmander… um what's you re name kid?"
"Oh right my name's Joey," he lifts his hand in greeting which I grab to shake.
"Nice to meet you I'm Ariel," I say shaking his hand still.
He then smiles releasing my hand then turns towards the Pokemon looking at his Charmander, "Man, she is obsessed with him and if you don't mind me asking why is he black and so big too."
I nod my head understanding his questions as to why Draco is so different from other Charizards'. "I don't mind you asking many do when they see him, but most of the time I just ignore them because it's so bothersome."
He nods, "Yeah I can see how that could become annoying."
"Anyway Draco is my very first Pokemon, my Dad had found him up in the mountains abandoned by his Mother and in very poor conditions to where his tail flame almost went out. My Dad rushed him back home as fast as possible," I look to Draco a far off look coming to my face as I thought back to that day. " I remember Daddy bursting through the front door shout out startling me from my sleep from my room upstairs. I could hear my eldest brother who had come in for a visit shouting as well and me being the curious kid I was and still am I leave my room to see what all the commotion was all about."
Flashback
Lightning flashed in the dark sky as the winds blew harshly against the house making the branches of the trees smash against it. A loud boom of thunder burst with a flash of lightning lighting of the sky once again. I walk quietly down the steps as not to alert my Daddy and brother that I am now awake.
Their shouts grew louder and more frantic making me worried that something was really wrong. I knew I shouldn't be up at this hour yet I just couldn't help, but wanna know what was going on. Peering around the corner to the living room I see Daddy hurriedly gather wood and putting it in the fire place while holding something wrapped in blankets. Though there was no fire lit there was the small glow of one however it was very dim so much so it looked to be going out.
My big brother Jacob rushes from outside looking out of breath with Infernape, Houndoom, Electabuzz, and Ampharos all in tow looking extremely distressed.
"The powers out," Jacob pants out, "Electabuzz and Ampharos tried to regenerate it, but it's no use especially with the tree that crashed on top of it."
"Shit!" Daddy shouts out, "with no power it'll be harder for us to safe this Charmander." He looks to the side a look of defeat on his face and I just couldn't stay quiet any longer.
I walk down the last step into the living room, "Daddy," he and Jacob along with the Pokemon look startled at the sound of my voice.
Daddy looks to me, "Princess what are you doing up so late it way past your bed time."
"I heard shouting so I came to see what was going on. Daddy what's wrong with the Charmander?" I ask as I move closer standing just before him looking at the small Pokemon.
"Sweetie he's very sick and if we can't get him feeling better soon he won't last the night," blunt as ever Daddy is.
I straighten up trying to make myself taller though it didn't work, "What can I do to help, Daddy," I couldn't let this Charmander die it felt as if he was calling to me.
Daddy takes one look at me is eyes serious, "If you're going to help I need you hold him, keep him warm in those blankets," he says handing the Charmander to me." He goes to stand while I sit next to the fire place now lit, "You keep him warm while your brother and I get supplies that we will need for him. If the fire starts to go out add more fire wood and make sure to call for one of the Pokemon if you need help. Once Blaziken returns with more wood he will help you to keep Charmander warm."
I nod my head at everything he says determined to save this Pokemon, "Don't worry Daddy I won't let you down."
He smiles softly, "I know you won't Princess."
He then leaves swiftly with Jacob and the Pokemon all following behind them. I look down to arms to look at the Charmander. His breathing is ragged, a cold sweat drips down his face and he looks so pale. The color of his skin is different than any other Charmander that I've ever seen. Instead of orange he is a golden yellow very unique compared to the rest of his kind.
Cuddling him closer to my body when I see him shivers and I look to see his tail fire burning so small. Grabbing a few logs next to me I throw them into the fire place, crackling at the touch of to the bark. I look around me to see if there is anything else that I could use to help keep Charmander warm and I see on the coat rack my snow hat. Yet I couldn't get my hat because I didn't want to move away from the fire that was helping keep Charmander warm.
Blaziken soon comes back with the fire wood depositing it on the pile beside me. He looks to me then kneels before us resting his hand on Charmanders' head. I look to Blaziken who's face looks troubled as he stares at the little one in my arms.
"Blaziken,"I say softly and he looks to my face, "could you to grab my snow hat in the coat rack it'll help keep Charmander warmer like it does me when I'm cold."
He nods his head, "Blaziken, Blaze." Blaziken stands going over to the coat rack taking my hat and handing it to me.
I reply with a quick thanks and put my hat on his head making sure it's not too tight on his head. Charmander whines in his sleep snuggling closer to the warmth of my body and I wrap the blankets a little tighter. I smile softly at how cute Charmander looked all cuddled up in my arms, but I was beginning to get sleepy myself.
My eyes were starting to fall due to how sleepy I felt and then Blaziken sits in front of me. He gently lifts me into his warm arms and looking up at Blaziken his eyes telling me to sleep. I do just that snuggling Charmander and me closer to the warmth of his body.
"Next morning I woke up still in Blazikens' arms with Draco looking much healthier and his tail fire burning brighter."
"Wow," Joey says totally enraptured by the story I just told him.
"He's was also a runt, very small compared to other Charmanders' and now he towers over every single one. He truly is the most unique Charizard I've ever seen and I wouldn't have Draco any other way cause he's simply amazing."
I look to Draco and he looks to me with so eyes love shining in them, "He really is something else I can understand why my Charmander is completely star struck by him.
I giggle nodding, "It's not the first time that this has happen and I'm sure it won't be the last, that's for sure."
Joey nods in agreement, "So, what's brings you to Pewter City?"
"I'm here to challenge the Pewter City Gym Leader," I reply looking to Joey, "What about you? What brings you here?"
Joey sighs, "I'm not so sure anymore," he looks down at his mines hands, "I thought I wanted to be a trainer, but after I lost against the Gym Leader…"
"You realized that it just wasn't for you," I finish for him.
He turns back quickly to me, "Exactly," he exclaims then jumps to his feet drawing the attention of Maximus and Draco. "During the battle I didn't feel the rush everyone tells me about, but you know what does!"
A dust cloud behind him as he rushes to stand right in my face, "No…" I say with a animated sweat drop on my forehead.
"POKEMON EVOLUTION!"
I flinched back at his raised voice so close to my face, "Um, Joey…"
"It's just so fascinating from how they change, grow and sometimes become completely different in not only attitude, but appearance as well. Take Shelldar for instant it -"
"Joey!"
He immediately stops is ranting looking at me sheepishly, "I was ranting again wasn't I."
"Yes you were," nodding my head," but it seem as though you already know what you love to do Joey."
His face goes from curious to understanding, "You're right I always knew I just.."
"Just what?"
"I just listened to what everyone was telling me what I should be instead of listening to myself and being what I wanted to be."
I smiled, "I think you should follow your dream then. You sounded so passionate about the evolution of Pokemon I really think you should do what you want; what makes you passionate."
A smile lights up his face then disappears, "I don't know though," he sighs looking away from me, "my family all talked about me becoming a trainer. You see so my life my family put these expectations on me becoming a great trainer. I just don't want to be a disappoint to them."
"Hey," I go to him putting my hands on his shoulders, "If they love you they'll understand and want you to do what makes you happy." I smile, "I understand where you're coming from believe me. All I've ever wanted is to travel and become an amazing Pokemon trainer. My Dad wouldn't let me due to… a condition I have, but finally he allowed me to do what I always wanted because I talked to him."
"What if they don't listen to me. They never do when I've tried before."
"Assert yourself," putting one hand on my him the other pointed to the sky. "Make them listen and don't let them talk over you. My Daddy would do it to me all the time until I couldn't take it anymore and finally I stood up for myself telling him what for!"
"You're right Ariel," he says clenching his fists before him. "Its been my dream to know all I could about the evolution of Pokemon. Now's the time to do what I want and no one should dictate how I live my life."
I open my mouth to reply when suddenly a roar interrupts me. Turning I see Draco flying I to the air and I look back down to see Charmander reaching up, crying towards him. 'Oh boy, Dracos' finally had enough of his little groupie.'
I laugh walking over to Charmander and Maximus who stood up to stand next to me. I look back up to the sky seeing Draco just above me, "Oh come on big guy don't be like that she just wants to love on you."
His eyes narrow at me 'I don't want it'. That's what his eyes tell me and then Joey comes to my left side, bending down to retrieve his Charmander. She however avoids his hands running from him to hide behind Maximus.
"Come on Charmander," he says exasperated, "it's time to give Ariel's Charizard some space you've been hovering around him all day."
"Charmander, Char, Char, Charmander," she shakes her head With tears in her eyes completely ignoring him.
"I don't get it she's never ignored me before."
"Oh she's just in love," I say shrugging my shoulders.
"In love!" He shouts looking at me not understanding.
"Yep," popping the 'p', "I've seen it all before no that I've ever been in love myself. Girls I've seen can go crazy when they fall for a guy and with Pokemon it can be just as bad when it comes to an alpha male such as my Draco."
"I see, I don't understand yet I can't just let her do what she wants so I'll just put her back into her Pokeball. At least to let Draco have a little break from her constant attention."
He grabs his Charmanders Pokeball and when she sees it she tries to run and hide. Luckily Joey is quick and catches her in the beam returning her into her Pokeball.
I sigh, "Thank you Joey I don't know how much more Draco could handle before he went crazy."
Draco lands before me nodding his done at in agreement to what I said. He leans towards me nuzzling my cheek. I giggle grabbing hold of his head, holding him close to me. Maximus then moves to stand on his hind legs putting his paws on my right shoulder nuzzling my other cheek as well. I can't help laughing and taking my right hand petting Maximus along with Draco.
"You have a really strong bond with your Pokemon Ariel, you're lucky having them."
"No I'm lucky to have them, but I think I should head over to the Pewter City Gym to have my battle before it gets too late."
"Hey do mind if I come to watch you battle?"
"I don't mind at all. Let's go so I can have my battle I've been waiting for."
It only took at few minutes to arrive at the Gym doors and I pushed them open with Joey and Maximus with me. Deciding to put Draco away in his Pokeball so he could have a break after having such a trying day. As we walk in we I immediately see the battle field that's made of boulder, gravel and dirt perfect for a rock gym.
"Welcome," a male voice echoes and I look up to see a young man with brown skin, black hair and eyes. "My name is Brock, Gym Leader of the Pewter City Gym. Which one of you comes to challenge me?"
"I do," I say walking forward Maximus following beside me.
Suddenly he jumps down from rafts up on the ground of the battle field, "We will each us two Pokemon. Whoever loses both shall with the match."
I nod, "Sounds good to me."
I walk to the rectangle indicated for me to stand in while Brock does the same. He reaches for a Pokeball throwing it into the air.
"Geodude, I choose you!"
'Okay since I have no water Pokemon I'll have to rely on smarts and working towards wearing them down.'
I reach for a Pokeball when suddenly Maximus runs onto the field putting himself in a battle stance; ready for battle.
"You wanna battle don't you Maxi."
He nods, "Grroowwll," he howls in reply.
"Very well, I choose Maximus for battle."
"Then let the battle begin!"
"Geodude start out with a Role Out attack!"
"Maximus jump into the air," he leaps avoiding the attack," use Leer to lower Geotudes defence."
He directs his gaze using Leer lowering Geodudes defence, "Now use Flamethrower! I say pointing to Geodude.
"I'm afraid that won't work. Geodude use Defense Curl."
I know I'm at a disadvantage and with Maximus still new to my team I still haven't trained with him so we could grow stronger together and flow as one.
Flamethrower stopped and Maximus leaped away from Geodude to land in front of me in a defensive stance.
"Geodude use Take Down!"
Geodude makes a direct hit, "Grroowwl!"
"Maximus," I cry out. I had to think of something then it hits me.
"Are you okay, Maximus!"
He nods his head staging on somewhat unsteady paws.
"That's my boy. Now's the time to show off your speed," I say. I point to Geodude, "Maximus use Agility circling around Geodude!"
He does just that going in circles around Geodude making it confused as it tries to follow Max with its eyes.
"Oh no, Geodude try to stay focused. Use Rock Throw to try and stop Growlithes agility."
Geodude shakes its head trying to stay focused and begins throwing rocks around the field following Maximus' path.
"Maxi keep using Agility to avoid the rocks then when you see openings use Swift!"
With his speed Maximus continues and every now and then he fires a Swift attack hitting Geodude directly from all angles.
"Geodude stop Rock Throw and use Sand Storm to hide from Growlithes Swift."
Suddenly the whole gym is covered in the storm of sand. I could barely see, blocking with my hand to keep the sand from my eyes and I could hear Maximus panicking inside the storm.
"Maximus," I call out, "Stay calm don't worry keep your eyes closed and focused on using your ears! Listen for Geodude then use Flamethrower one more time to finish it off."
I listen carefully for any sign and then a burst of fire shoots out in the air. A cry sounds through the Gym and the storm clears to show who is the last standing. Standing in the center is Maximus while Geodude is on the ground unable to battle.
"Geodude is unable to battle Growlithe wins." Brock calls back Geodude into its Pokeball telling it did a good job and to take a nice long rest.
Maximus runs over to me and I kneel down, "I'm so proud of you Maxi," I cuddle him close, "You deserve to have a long rest now." He licks my cheek and lays down on the ground next to me taking a well deserved brake from his battle.
"Good job, I'm impressed Ariel."
I smile, "Thank you, but if you should praise anyone it's my Maxi. He makes me very proud to have him on my team."
"Truer words couldn't have been said, but I'm not ready to give up yet."
"Great job Ariel!" Joey shouts and I smile giving him a thumbs up.
"Onix, I choose you."
I had a feeling he would have an Onix and I knew exactly who I was going to use. "Luca, it's time for battle," I call releasing him from his Pokeball.
Luca stands before me, arms crossed and eyes closed not looking worried by the large Pokemon that he is about to battle.
Brock's eyes widen in surprise, "I've never seen a Pokemon like him. What kind is he?"
"Luca is a Lucario a Fighting and Steel type Pokemon they are from the Sinnoh region. Even from his home land they are not a very common Pokemon."
"I see, it'll be interesting to see the different techniques you will use and to see what he is like in battle."
I smirk, "You won't be disappointed."
"Onix, use Dig to hide from Lucario."
I smile knowing that Luca won't have any trouble, "Luca, you know what to do."
He nods and just stands there eyes still closed, totally relaxed, just waiting. I too close my eyes just waiting and the whole gym is silent holding its breath.
My bond with Luca is strong we are always in sink with one another. A crash bombs through the Gym and my eyes snap open to see Luca jumping into the air just above Onix completely avoiding the attack.
"Great job, Luca now use Aura Sphere," he fires off his attack hitting Onix right in the face making it cry out in pain.
"Onix," Brock cries out, "use Bind to grab hold of Lucario."
Luca unable to avoid Onix tail, he gets trapped and cries out at how tight he's being held.
"Luca us Hyper Beam attack!"
Luca opens his mouth energy building in it and he quickly fires hitting Onix on its side making it fly and releasing Luca. Onix crashes into the wall making it cry once more before it falls to the ground knocked out from the blow.
Brock cries out and runs to his Onix making sure it's okay. I walk over to Luca giving him a big hug with a large smile on my face. Maximus follows behind me barking excitedly at our winning of the match.
I lean back, "I'm so proud, Luca you did great in our first official battle."
He barks happily, licking my cheek happy to have made me proud.
I look over to Brock and Onix then walk towards them, "How's Onix?"
Brock looks to me smiling, "He'll be just fine, thank you for your concern."
"Of course, even if it was a battle I would never want to cause real harm to a Pokemon," I grab some berries from my bag. "Here," I say handing the berries to him, "these berries will help recover your Pokemon it'll help to restore them some energy."
He looks surprised then smiles, "Thank you, I appreciate this." Brock feeds Onix the berries and it smiles happily at the treat. He stands turning to me, "I really enjoyed my match with you Ariel. You have raised two really great Pokemon and you deserve this," he reaches in his vest then open his hand showing a badge. "I'm honored to present you with this Boulder Badge proving your win at my gym."
I take the badge in my hand showing it to both Luca and Maximus, "I got this badge thanks you two so this win is ours not mine because this was a team effort." I look to Brock, "Thank you, Brock I really enjoyed our battle."
"I did too and I wish you the best of luck when you get to the Indigo League."
"Thank you, Brock."
Once I'm outside with both Luca and Maximus by my sides I see Joey running towards me with a giant smile on his face.
"Ariel that was incredible," he says as he stands before me, "I didn't know you had any other Pokemon besides your Charizard and Growlithe. I'd never seen a Pokemon like your Lucario, but he was amazing and really powerful."
Joey practically has stars in his eyes, "Thank you Joey your praise means a lot and I know Luca appreciates it."
Luca nods his thanks looking relaxed as always.
Joey looks at me now with nervous eyes, "Hey, Laura I was wondering," he says pushing his pointer fingers together, "I was wondering if it would be okay if I could join you on your journey?"
I blink in surprise then smile, "I would love for you to join me, Joey."
A smile lights up Joey's face, "Yes," he say jumping up in the air throwing up his arms."
I laugh happy at The sight before me, "Alright Joey, but first let's go to the Pokemon Center to heal up my Pokemon then I gotta calls some people."
"Okay, Ariel."
After arriving at the Pokemon Center Nurse Joy healed Maximus and Lucas. Once I got them both back I went to the phone video calls and called my brother Jacob.
As usual he answers on the first ring, "Is everything alright?!" He shouts into the phone so loud I had to lean away from the phone from my now ringing ear.
"Jeez, Jacob you want me to go deaf? There's no need to shout."
He sheepishly smiles, "Sorry Ari I've just been worried."
'How can you worry about me when I just talked to you this morning you mother hen.'
I can't help, but think yet can't help smiling, "There's no need to worry Jacob I'm just fine and I just won my first official gym battle." I show him my new Boulder Badge with a big smile.
"That's my little star for you," his voice filled with pride. "Who did you use? I know the Pewter City Gym is a Rock type gym so I know known of your Pokemon didn't really have any advantage type. Was it Draco and Luca?"
I shake my head, "Actually I have someone for you to meet," Maximus comes up to the screen barking in greeting. "This is Maximus I just got him the other day and had him battle which he won." I rub Maximus's ear making purr at the feeling.
"I'm not surprised you would use a new Pokemon to battle with. You were always so good working with the wild Pokemon." Jacob smiles wider, "I'm very proud Ari and would love to talk more however I have to go.
I nod, we say our love you and goodbyes. Hanging up I then call Professor Oak and while it rings Joey comes up to me after he too called home.
After the third ring Professor Oak appears on screen, "Hello my dear how are you doing?"
"I'm doing great Professor I just finished winning my Boulder Badge."
"Well congratulations Ariel I knew you would have no trouble winning your match."
"No way!" I jump hearing Joey shout behind me and then I'm suddenly moved to the side with him now in front of the screen.
"Oh," a surprised Professor Oak says, "Hello young man an who might you be?"
"My name's Joey Rider Professor Oak and it is such a honor to talk to you and I must say your article on the evolution of Eevee's different form or evolution was absolutely fascinating."
The Professor smiles even wider, "Why thank you Joey it's nice to find a young man such as you so passionate about my research."
"I've read all of your articles and books on the evolution of Pokemon they are all so informative and your theories are absolutely brilliant."
'Am I invisible now? Ugh scientists and their talks of all things boring.'
"I'd hate to break up this touching nerd moment," both look indignantly at me, "however me and Joey must get going and I also wanted to let you know Professor I caught me a Growlithe."
"That's wonderful my dear be sure to catch more Pokemon and keep winning those battles."
"Of course, Professor Oak goodbye for now."
"Goodbye, Ariel I can't wait for your next video call."
I hung up the phone and look to see Joey turned away from me.
"Oh come on Joey I didn't mean anything by what I said. I just needed to end that phone call soon so we could get on the road before dark."
He turns back to me with a smile, "Okay Ariel let's get going then so we can get moving towards Cerulean City where your next gym battle will be.
"Yea, let's get going," I say walking out of the Pokemon Center with Joey beside me with Maximus. Now on our way to continuing our journey.
