A/N: Now to continue! Prior warning, the opening mainly takes place in the past, specifically before the Enforcers split. We'll be getting into the main story (on Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's part) in the next chapter. Since Dragons' Souls does the Fortune Cup arc, this story will be heading into the Dark Signers arc (whereas in the past it was the opposite until revising).

Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's nor Pokémon. Both go to their respective owners. I only claim my OCs. Also, prepare the soap for Ren's potty mouth. Also, bit of a blood/violence warning due to Ren's injuries.

Chapter 1:

(Ren's POV)

I leaned against the cave wall, trying to catch my breath. The marks left over my eye were throbbing and still bleeding. Not to mention the rest of the injuries. Arceus knows if I'm going to even make it out in one piece at this rate. I can't believe I got suckered in by those bastards, especially...

"He went this way!" a voice shouted from outside. Shit! I cursed inwardly, pushing myself from the wall. I've gotta keep moving.

A light from the corner of my eye caught my attention. I looked, seeing a sparkling portal some feet further into the cave. At least, I thought it looked like one based on some of the old books I flipped through as a kid. What..? How did... I kept hearing shouts coming closer and gritted my teeth. Wherever this thing leads has gotta be better than my situation right now! With the last bit of my strength, I made a run for the light, shielding my eyes with my arms.

(Yusei's POV)

"We haven't checked up here, right?"

"Not yet," I replied to Kalin's question. We had gotten through most of the gang's hideout. The only one left (that we know of) was the leader. It was just finding him that was the issue.

"Stop right there, Enforcers!" someone shouted from behind. "You're not going one more step!"

"I'll handle this guy, Yusei. You go on ahead," Kalin said, readying his Duel Disk.

"Got it."

I kept heading upstairs while the Duel happened. They should be around here somewhere, I thought, keeping an eye out for any traps. As I was passing a cracked open door, I heard a groan coming from the room. "Who's there?" I asked.

Slowly opening the door, my eyes widened in shock at the sight. A guy about my age was laying on the floor and covered in injuries. His clothes were tattered with large gashes that had to have been caused by something bigger than a pocket knife. What the hell?! I knew these guys were tough on anyone living in their sector, but this is just sick, I thought still stunned and angered at the sight. He let out a loud cough, his arms moving to try to push his injured body off the ground. His face lifted enough to show off a gnarly set of scars on the right side of his face, bleeding with fresh blood.

"Hey, Yusei!" I heard Crow yell from down the hallway. "Jack found the leader and is—holy shit!" He stepped up next to me and yelled when he saw the sight in the room. "What the hell did these bastards do to him?"

"I don't know." A pair of hurried footsteps indicated another person coming close.

"There you Enforcers are! You won't be getting our turf anytime—" He yelped when Crow charged and pinned him against the wall.

"You sick assholes! What gives you the right to slice up some poor guy?!" he growled.

"Wh-what? The f*** you talkin' about?"

Crow moved a bit and pointed at the room. "That's what I'm talking about!"

He followed with a glance, eyes widening at the sight. "I-I never saw that guy before! He wasn't there last I checked!"

"Bullshit! People don't just pop out of nowhere!"

"I'm serious! We never-!"

(Ren's POV)

My head pounded like nothing I ever felt, even more so than the hits I took to the head while running. Even the marks scattered across my body seemed to have started to burn on a new level of pain. I was vaguely aware of voices in front of me, but because of the head pounding, I couldn't quite discern what was being said. Some of it sounded like there was arguing. Did...Did I get away from them? Where am I? I thought, trying to find the strength to push myself up.

"C...th...ough!" I managed to make out from one voice. "I'll..." No, can't stay here. Gotta get moving! My legs refused to respond, so I opted to just try to use my arms to crawl away or something.

A second later, I felt a hand on my shoulder. No no! I lashed out, trying to push the attacker away. "Hey hey, easy!" a voice said. With them being so close, I could hear a bit better but my vision was still fuzzy. My eyes darted up and I could make out spiky black hair and deep blue eyes. "Are you okay?" That was when everything spiraled away as I lost consciousness.

(Yusei's POV)

I barely managed to keep his head from hitting the ground again when he passed out. "Dammit," I cursed lowly. I immediately started to maneuver him from being face down to a sitting position. I noticed these strange spheres latched on his belt. Odd. I got my arm under his knees and lifted him up.

"No, really! We don't do that kind of shit! Sure, we rough some up a bit when they annoy us, but not-"

"Sure, he just happened to be covered in huge gashes and plopped into your turf," Crow growled.

"Crow, tell Kalin and Jack I'm heading for Martha's! This guy won't make it without a doctor!" I called back, standing up.

"Don't worry about us. We've got these chumps."

I nodded. I made sure I wasn't going to drop the guy before hurrying out of their base. If I took the right routes, I should get there in time.

(?, Ren's POV)

"Els? Ellis, hey! Big brother!" I called, walking down a dark street. The lights seemed to have gotten weaker around the area. Must have been a brownout or storm. "Where are you?" I kept walking, the only thing audible being my footsteps. "Hey, listen. I know you told me not to follow you out here, but I just wanted to...to..." I froze as I noticed a red stain on the concrete sidewalk.

My pace quickened as I followed the tail into a dark alley. The stains were getting closer together and larger in spots. There were also scales, tufts of fur, and crumpled leaves as I got closer to the sight. "Ellis...?" My voice cracked into a slight whimper as the shadows receded.

(Yusei's POV)

I got into a change of clothes after bringing the guy in. There was an incident when I had reached the door to Martha's that he had woken up and freaked out, yelling about an 'Ellis' before passing out again. That was when I realized another injury was on his side that wasn't shown through the torn shirt he had as I felt something wet on my front. Dr. Schmitt went to work immediately to patch him up. After I got changed, I decided to take a look to see if there was an ID in this guy's belongings.

I kept the strange spheres to the side for now. While I was curious what they were, something told me not to open them. It appeared he didn't keep much with him as there was just a bag of seeds, some bandages, an empty spray bottle, and a rectangle shaped device. Is this an ID? I never saw anything like it. Could he be from the city? But how did he get so ruffed up and in that building, then? I flipped it open, finding it was like a a computer of some sort. Interesting. I noticed an indention near the bottom, like on the old phones I would collect and take apart. A thumbprint ID? I rubbed my thumb on it, jumping when it lit up and a voice came on the speaker.

"Thumbprint not recognized," the voice said. Well, that answered that. Better put that on the list of things to ask him when he wakes up. I set it back down with the rest of the items.

The door slammed open behind me. I turned to see Kalin, Jack, and Crow coming in. "All right, mind explaining what Crow just told us?" Kalin asked.

(?)

"Did you get the target?"

"No, he slipped out of one of the holes in space-time. He could be anywhere."

"You idiots! You had one job, and that was to bring him here alive! And you couldn't do that?!"

"W-We're sorry, boss! Honest! We tried, but he was too slick for us! He couldn't have gotten too far with how banged up he got!"

"Through that portal, he could have ended up in the past, future, or even a whole new world! Have you not read those reports?!"

"W...We're sorry. We'll do better next time!"

"There's no next time for you lot."

(Normal POV)

A blue-green eye opened slowly as the dark brown haired teen boy awoke. He found he couldn't open his other eye, almost like it was covered up. His vision was hazy for a moment before clearing up to stare at the ceiling above him. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Wh...Where am I..? he wondered. When he shifted, he let out a low hiss of pain. Argh...why does everything hurt so much..?

He jerked a bit—which led to more of the injuries making themselves known—when the door creaked open. He managed to look to see a spiky haired teen his age coming in. What? Who is he?

"Oh, good, you're awake," the teen said.

"Wh...Who are..?" he croaked out. He tried sitting up only to cry out in pain and slide back to the bed.

"Whoa whoa, easy now." He stepped into the room and came to the bedside. "You were pretty hurt already. We don't need those stitches to reopen."

"St-Stitches?" Was I hurt? How did I get that bad?

"Yeah, you had a lot of deep gashes. Crow tried to get some info from that Duel gang, but they claim they have no clue who you were." Duel gang..? What's he talking about? "Anyway, I brought your stuff back." He set several things on the table next to the bed. "Oh, right. I'm Yusei, by the way."

"I...I..uh.."

Yusei gave him a perplexed look. "Are you okay? What's wrong?"

"I can't...I don't remember...anything."

(Present Day, Ren's POV)

"Hey, Ren. You okay there?" Jazz asked, waving a hand in front of my face and snapping me from my thoughts.

"Huh, what?" I replied, blinking.

"You kinda stared into space after getting that bracelet there. Everything fine up top?"

"Yeah yeah, just...thinking."

"Thinking about what, Ren?" Eric asked me.

"Lemme guess, all the not safe for work stuff you wanna do to-"

"Jazz, I swear to Arceus I will punch you in the mouth if you finish that sentence!" I growled, my cheeks heating up badly. Jazz cackled in response.

"Well, if we're going to be heading off, we might want to do it soon. Or we can wait a little bit before then," Eric suggested.

"No, I want to head out now. I put this off long enough. I...I gotta make sure they're all right," I replied.

"Well, get on with it then! We ain't getting any younger!" Jazz slapped my shoulder in emphasis.

"All right." I held up the bracelet, concentrating. Please...take me to near where Yusei is... The bracelet shook and then flew out of my hand. It shone brightly, extending to resembling the Hoopa ring portals in the Hoenn books. The blue and purple swirls were slightly transparent to show what was on the other side but not clearly enough to see if it was the destination. "On three."

"One..." Jazz got to my right.

"Two..." Eric came up on my left.

"Three!" we yelled as we jumped through the portal ring.

A/N: That's it for this chapter. Hope that portal doesn't land them elsewhere. :) We shall see in the next chapter. See ya!
