Chapter 9: Dinoco Gas Station
Later that night, the van drove into Dinoco Gas Station for a refuel on gas. "Can I help pump the gas?" Andy asked, taking off his seatbelt. "Sure. I'll even let you drive." Andy's mom said. "Yeah?" Andy asked. "Yeah, when you're 16." Andy's mom joked. "Funny Mom." Andy said sarcastically.
When they were gone, Harry and his team peaked up from the back seat. Woody was still upset from what his friends said about him being a murderer. "Oh great. How am I gonna convince those guys it was an accident?" Woody asked. "Who knows, Woody?" Harry answered. "If it makes you feel any better, you have us convinced." Hermione said. "Well, except for Kaz." Ron pointed out. "Not helping, Ronald!" Hermione grumbled. "No, he's right. All I need is one piece of proof that Buzz is alive." Kaz said.
As Woody continued to stare at the roof, a familiar figure appeared in the sunroof. "Buzz!" Woody said. Everyone looked up and saw Buzz dropping down through the sunroof and landing in front of Woody. "Buzz! You're alive!" Woody yelled with excitement. "No way!" Ron said. "Is that proof enough for you, Kaz?" Tom asked. "Absolutely!" Kaz admitted. Buzz, who had a fly splattered on his helmet, just glared at Woody. "Oh, this is great!" Woody said, getting up. "It's a miracle!" Hermione cried. "Oh! I'm saved! I'm saved! Andy will find you here! He'll take us back to the room and then you-" Woody peeled the fly off and cleaned what he could off Buzz's helmet. "Then you can tell everyone that this is all just a big mistake! Huh? Right? Buddy?" "I just want you to know that even though you tried to terminate me, revenge is not an idea we promote on my planet." Buzz said. "Oh. Well, that's good." Woody said. "But we're not on my planet, are we?" Buzz asked with a glower. "No?" Woody answered. "Oh no." Harry said. "Not good." Hermione said.
Buzz pounced Woody right out of the van. As they landed, Buzz bashed Woody's head into the pavement. Woody tried to roll Buzz off him, but they rolled further under the van. Buzz then kicked Woody into the tire. Everyone else got out of the van and observed the ensuing brawl. "Okay. Come on!" Woody growled as he got up and walked towards Buzz. "You want a piece of me?!" Buzz punched Woody's face, making his head spin. Woody stopped his head and leapt for Buzz, opening his helmet. As he punched Buzz's face, Buzz closed his helmet on Woody's hand. As Woody yelled in pain, he tried to punch Buzz's talk buttons to get free. 'Buzz-Buzz-Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!' Buzz then flipped over Woody and pulled his arms back behind him. "That's enough, Buzz!" Harry yelled, pointing his wand at Buzz. The others did the same with their weapons.
But before any more damage could be done, they heard Andy's mom's voice. "Next stop?" "Pizza Planet! Yeah!" Andy said, getting in the van. Woody and Buzz broke apart as the van started to drive away. "Andy!" Woody said. Everyone stood up as the van drove out of sight. Woody walked a few feet away from the station in concern. "Doesn't he realize that I'm not there?" He asked before he gasped with realization. "I'm lost! I'm a lost toy!" He dropped to his knees and started sobbing. The team watched as Woody sobbed. "Poor guy." Sly said. Hermione even shed a tear of her own.
Buzz, who obviously had no interest in their current situation, opened up his wrist comm. "Buzz Lightyear Mission Log: the local sheriff, the young team of heroes and I seem to be at a huge refueling station of some sort." He said. "YOU!" Woody growled, blaming Buzz for this. But before Woody could make his move, a horn blared. Everyone looked up and saw a big truck pulling in. Buzz, Harry and his team ducked out of the way, but Woody dropped to the ground and froze. The truck stopped before it could run over Woody's head. Woody blinked and squirmed out of the tire's way. The others ran towards him. "Are you alright?" Harry asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." Woody said, slowly backing away from the tire and into Buzz still talking into his wrist comm. "According to my navi-computer-" "Shut up! Just shut up, you idiot!" Woody whispered. "Sheriff, this is no time to panic." Buzz said, shutting his comm. "This is the perfect time to panic!" Woody said. "I'm lost, Andy is gone! They're going to move from their house in 2 days and it's all your fault!" "MY- My fault?! If you hadn't pushed me out of that window in the first place!" Buzz whispered. Woody just groaned. "Well, if you hadn't shown up in your stupid little cardboard spaceship and taken away everything that was important to me!" He said. "Don't talk to me about importance! Because of you, the security of the entire universe is in jeopardy!" Buzz said. "WHAT?! What are you talking about?" Woody asked. "Yeah, what do you mean?" Ron asked. "Somewhere, poised at the edge of the galaxy, Emperor Zurg has been secretly building a weapon with the destructive capacity to annihilate an entire planet! I alone have information that reveals his weapon's only weakness." Buzz explained. "And you, my friends, are responsible for delaying my rendezvous with Star Command!" Woody could not believe what he was hearing. "YOU! ARE! A! TOY!" Woody screamed, having completely lost his patience. "You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear, you're- You're an action figure! You are a child's plaything!" The heroes were surprised at Woody's outburst. Buzz just slowly shook his head. "You are a sad strange little man. And you have my pity. Farewell." He said, giving a Star Trek sign before walking away. "Oh yeah? Well, good riddance, you loony!" Woody yelled back before walking away himself. Harry and his team soon joined him.
"Rendezvous with Star Command." Woody grumbled. "Seriously, how hard is it to convince someone that they're a toy?" Seamus asked. "About that hard." Kaz answered. "Seriously. He almost reminds me of me when I was struggling with my feelings for Sly." Carmelita said. Just then, they saw a certain delivery truck pull into the station. Woody took a good look at what was written on the door. "Pizza Planet?" "Hey, isn't that where-?" Hermione asked. "Andy!" Woody said. "Come on, let's go." Ron said. They were about to run to the vehicle, but stopped. "Oh no. I can't show my face in that room without Buzz." Woody said. "You're right." Harry said. "Let's get him back." Hermione said.
They raced back to the truck. "Buzz! Buzz, come back!" Woody called. "Come back, Buzz!" Ron called. "We're sorry, Buzz!" Hermione called. "Come on, Buzz!" Ginny called. "Go away!" Buzz said, continuing to walk away. "No! Buzz, you gotta come back! I-" Woody stopped and looked at the spaceship on top of the delivery truck. "I found a spaceship!" He called. That made Buzz stop and turn around. "It's a spaceship, Buzz!" Woody called. Buzz now seemed interested.
As the driver was getting directions from the gas guy, Buzz stared at the vehicle. "Now you're sure this space freighter will return to its port of origin once it jettisons its food supply?" He asked. "Uh huh. And when we get there, we'll be able to find a way to transport you home." Woody assured while lying. "Cross our hearts." Harry said. "Well then, let's climb aboard." Buzz said, racing for the delivery truck. "No. No, no. Wait. Buzz. Buzz!" Woody whispered, running after him with Harry and the others following. "Let's get in the back. No one will see us there." He said. "Negative. There are no restraining harnesses in the cargo bay. We'll be much safer in the cockpit." Buzz said, starting to climb up the door. "Yeah, but- Buzz! Buzz!" Woody called. "Buzz, what're you doing?" Harry whispered.
Buzz peaked through the window and jumped into the passenger's seat as the driver thanked the gas guy for the directions. "Buzz!" Woody called. Just then, the motor was starting up. Woody, Harry and the others raced for the back and climbed in through the back window. They peaked through the window and saw Buzz putting on a seatbelt. "It'll be safer in the cockpit then in the cargo bay. What an idiot." Woody muttered. Just then, the driver slammed his foot on the gas pedal and drove off fast, sending everyone flying into the back. As the driver made a turn, they hit the side window. Then, as the driver went up a hill, the junk in the back started to descend. Everyone screamed as a toolbox was about to crash into them.
A while later, the vehicle pulled in at Pizza Planet itself. As the driver got out, Buzz looked and noticed the rocket. Intrigued, he took off his seatbelt and looked out the window. He then noticed 2 robots guarding the entrance. "You are cleared to enter. Welcome to Pizza Planet." The robots said, welcoming a family of customers.
Buzz then hopped to the back window and opened it. "Sheriff! Heroes!" He called, but couldn't find any sign of Woody or the others. "Sheriff?" Then the toolbox collapsed and revealed Woody and the heroes, completely dazed. "There you are." Buzz said as they completely collapsed into the other junk. "Now the entrance is heavily guarded. We need a way to get inside." Buzz said. Woody then coughed as he lifted his head, wearing a paper cup. "Great idea, Woody. I like your thinking." Buzz said. Woody, however, was completely confused. "Anybody get the license number on that brick wall?" Carmelita asked, still dazed.
