Chapter 20: The Chase
Just then, the street light turned green, and Andy's mom and the moving van started driving again. "Get him!" Potato Head shouted. All the toys flipped their boxes over and fell out. Woody saw them and quickly activated the controller. RC picked up Buzz, Harry and the others and drove off from under the car. Scud chased after them. The toys charged towards Woody. "Ah! Ah! No! No!" Woody tried to say as they surrounded him.
Scud managed to catch up to RC. "He's right on top of us!" Ron called. Buzz and the others looked worried as Scud prepared to chomp on them. "No, no, no, no! Wait!" Woody cried. Then Rock picked him up and started spinning him. The spinning caused RC to swerve, avoiding Scud's jaws, and started doing donuts around Scud. Rock then tossed Woody to the floor. RC resumed the course. "What's going on up there?!" Ginny asked. "Is Woody trying to joke with us?! Cause I'm not laughing!" Kaz said. "Pig Pile!" Hamm shouted, leaping off the box and on top of Woody. That caused RC to jump, avoiding another chomp attempt by Scud. But it also caused Buzz to flip off and back on, facing backwards. "The other toys must be attacking Woody!" Hermione guessed. "So, that's the reason!" Sarah said. "Oh, wait until we catch up!" Tangath said with fury.
Just then, the traffic light ahead turned red again, causing the cross traffic to wall up the road. "Uh Buzz?" Harry said. Buzz turned and saw the cross-traffic wall. Everybody screamed as they drove into it. RC managed to drive them under a moving car. Scud, running blindly after them, saw a car swerving to stop. He yelped, skidding to a stop. The driver in the swerving car managed to stop, causing an incoming car to crash into him. RC managed to get Buzz, Harry and the others through as more cars circled around Scud, causing a pileup and trapping him. "Get out of that car!" "Move it!" The drivers shouted and honked as Scud tried to find a way out. Buzz looked back and sighed in relief. "Well, that's the last we'll see of that dumb dog." Seamus said. "Well done, RC." Luna said, patting RC's head.
Meanwhile, Rock and Robot held Woody up, preparing to toss him overboard. "No wait! You don't understand! Buzz is out there! We gotta help him!" Woody said. His struggling caused RC's remote to hit Potato Head, knocking off his hat, eyes, nose, mouth and left ear. "Toss him overboard!" The mouth called. "No, no, no! Wait!" Woody cried. But Rock and Robot tossed him into the street. "Hooray!" Rex cheered. "So long, Woody!" Potato Head called as the van drove away. Woody sighed. Then he turned and ducked down to avoid an incoming car. He swerved to get up.
"Oh! Woody!" Buzz called as RC came in and swept up Woody. "Whoa! Well, thanks for the ride." Woody said, steadying himself up front. "No problem." Harry said. "Look out!" Buzz called, pointing ahead. They were heading for the car's rear tires. Woody screamed and steered RC hard left, avoiding the tires by an inch and moving up under the car. "That was close!" Peyton said. "Now let's catch up to that truck!" Woody said. He flicked the switch to 'Turbo', causing RC to pick up speed to catch up to the moving van.
Meanwhile, the toys cheered and congratulated each other for getting rid of Woody. Just then, Lenny looked out and saw Woody, Buzz, RC, Harry and the others approaching. "Guys! Guys! Woody, Harry and his friends are riding RC! And Buzz is with them!" He called. Everyone gathered around as Bo picked up Lenny to look for herself. "It is Buzz! Woody was telling the truth!" She said. Everyone was shocked. "What have we done?!" Slinky asked. "Great! Now I have guilt!" Rex said in shame.
"We're almost there!" Woody said as they were nearing the truck. "Rock! The ramp!" Bo called. Rock hustled to the lever that control's the ramp. He pushed it down and the ramp started to lower down to the street. "Look out!" Buzz called. The group backed up before the ramp came down on top of them. The ramp started creating sparks as it dragged across the street. "Quick, hold on to my tail!" Slinky called. Potato Head and Rex held Slinky's tail as Slinky's front half hopped down to the ramp. Woody handed Buzz the controller as they got closer. Woody and Slinky reached out to each other, grabbing each other's outstretched arms. "Atta boy, Slink!" Potato Head called as everybody cheered.
But just then, RC started to slow down. "Uh Woody!" Slinky said as he was pulled off the ramp. The toys all grabbed Slinky's tail, causing his slinky to stretch out. "Woody, speed up!" Slinky said. "Speed up!" Woody repeated to Buzz. "Why are we slowing down?!" Sly asked. "The batteries! They're running out!" Buzz said. RC's eyes started to sag as he slowed down more and more. "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" Slinky shouted as he continued to stretch. Woody and Slinky grabbed each other's free arms. RC started to weave to the right as the moving van started to turn. Slinky screamed as the group winced from nearly getting scraped by the line of parked cars.

Molly looked and saw Woody, Buzz, Slinky, RC, Harry and the others in the rearview mirror, giggling at the sight.
As they reached the turn's end, RC weaved back into the middle. But Woody and Slinky were losing their grips. "I can't hold on much longer!" Slinky said. "Slink! Hang on!" Woody cried. Slinky slipped out of Woody's grip, sending him back towards the truck and into the toys.
