Chapter 21: Rocket Flight
RC sputtered and slowed to a gentle stop as his batteries finally died out. Woody, Buzz, Harry and the others looked on as the moving van drove out of view. "Great!" Woody said with sarcasm as Buzz dropped the controller. "Now what're we gonna do?" Ginny asked. Buzz remembered the rocket on his back. "Woody! The rocket!" He said. Woody caught on quick, remembering the match Sid put in his holster. "The match!" He said. "Yes! Thank you, Sid!" He took the match from his holster, made his way behind Buzz, lit the match off RC's tire and prepared to light the fuse. But then, a car zoomed right over them and doused the match. Woody looked at the match with distraught. "No! No, no!" He dropped to the ground. "No! No! No, no, no, no, no, no!" As he cried, Buzz bowed his head in sadness. "No!" Woody cried.
"Wait. Maxxor, can't you or Tangath light the fuse with a Flame Orb?" Tom asked. "We could. But the heat from our fire attacks is too strong. If we light the fuse, Buzz would take off without us." Maxxor said. "So, we're stuck here." Kaz said. "That's it then." Carmelita said. "No! We can't give up now! There must be something we can do." Harry said.
Just then, Woody felt his hand sizzle. He looked and saw a white light shining on it, like from Sid's magnifying glass. He looked up and saw Buzz's helmet was covered by the sun. Getting an idea, he grabbed Buzz and shined his helmet over the fuse. "Woody! What're you doing?" Buzz asked. "Hold still, Buzz!" Woody said. The fuse started to sizzle until finally, it lit. Woody laughed with success. "You did it!" Buzz said. "Great job, Woody!" Harry said. Everyone grabbed onto RC as Buzz aimed the rocket towards the truck. "Next stop: Andy!" Buzz said. "Wait a minute." Woody suddenly said. "What is it, Woody?" Hermione asked. "I just lit a rocket." Woody said. "And?" Sly asked. "Rockets EXPLODE!" Woody shouted. The rocket blasted off. RC sped along the dividing line, passing the passing cars towards the truck.
"I should've held on longer." Slinky said weakly as the toys gathered and comforted him. "Look! Look! It's Woody and Buzz, Harry and friends coming up fast!" Lenny called, seeing RC speeding towards them "Woody!" Rex cheered as they gathered to the back.
Suddenly, the rocket started to lift them off the ground. Woody held on to RC as best as he could, but he Buzz, Harry, Ron and Hermione let RC and the others go, sending them towards the truck. "Take cover!" Rex yelled as the toys scampered out of the way. But Potato Head stayed put, eyes widening as RC smashed into him, sending his pieces flying to the ground. Ginny and the others landed in the truck. "Not one my better landings." Sly said as he and the others recovered. "Everyone here and accounted for?" Dean asked. Ginny looked around. "Where's Harry, Ron and Hermione?" She asked.
Woody, Buzz, Harry, Ron and Hermione shot right up to the sky. "This is the part where we blow up!" Woody screamed. "It was nice knowing you guys!" Ron cried. "Not today!" Buzz said. He opened his wings, cutting the tape and freeing them from the rocket. They started falling as the rocket exploded. Woody, Harry, Ron and Hermione screamed and Woody shut his eyes as they neared the ground. But then, Buzz zipped upwards. Woody opened eyes to see what happened. Buzz was actually flying! "Hey Buzz, you're flying!" He said in surprise. "But how?" Harry asked. "This isn't flying. This is falling with style." Buzz said, repeating Woody's earlier statement. "To Infinity and Beyond!" Woody cried as they flew towards the truck. But they just glided right over it. "Uh Buzz, we missed the truck!" Woody said. "Yeah, what are we doing?" Hermione said. "We're not aiming for the truck." Buzz said. "Then what are we aiming at?" Ron asked.
They flew right over to Andy's mom's van. When they were right over it, Buzz closed up his wings and they dipped through the sunroof and into the box next to Andy. Harry, Ron and Hermione apparated to the back. Andy heard the thump and looked in the box. Woody and Buzz were on top of his cowboy hat and Buzz's spaceship box. "Hey wow!" He said, picking up Woody and Buzz. "What? What is it?" His mom asked. "Woody! Buzz!" Andy shouted happily. "Oh great, you found them. Where were they?" His mom asked. "Here in the car." Andy said. "See? Now, what did I tell you? Right where you left them." His mom said as Andy hugged Woody and Buzz tightly. Woody and Buzz winked to each other with success.
