Elsa wasn't sure how she ended up back in her ice castle on top of the North Mountain, she just wished to be away from everyone and ran away. She was pacing through the castle and condemning herself for what she did. She had hurt the one person she liked outside of her family.
"I can't believe I thought I could control it," Elsa whispered as she grabbed and held her hands close. "I'm such a fool."
Elsa marched around and heard a chuckle that was heard throughout the castle as Elsa started to look around. "Who's there?"
She didn't get any response and wondered if she heard that or if it was in her head. But now that she was at her lowest point, mentally and physically, the sand was doing its work on her.
There was no second figure in the castle, but the dust that Pitch left on her back in Drago's lair, the dust started to warp her mind. Due to her powers, she was able to hold it off, but she was giving into it while giving into guilt, fear, and anger.
Elsa looked around when she looked at her reflection and saw she was wearing a dark dress with her hair put upward in a dark manner.
"Look at you." Her reflection snarled at her, causing Elsa to jump back in shock. "Squandering the potential that we hold."
"What?" Elsa asked and began to deny this is happening. "No, no, this isn't happening. This is all in my head."
"Yes." Her reflection, who will be known as Evil Elsa going forward, confirmed as she approached the ice, almost like trying to approach Elsa but couldn't. You know, because she's a reflection. "But I've always been there, haven't I? I'm your doubt. Fear of your power. Afraid of the full potential of your powers."
"I hurt someone I love because of them! Twice!" Elsa cried as she marched to her reflection, angry at what it was saying.
"Good!" Evil Elsa replied with a smile. "They were holding us back! They would betray us soon enough." She then started to walk around the room, Elsa following behind her. "Tell me, do you think any of them would be friends with you if they didn't need you?"
Elsa was going to reply, knowing that she could be friends with them without this mission, but then realized she doesn't have the best skills in making friends. She's been alone for so long. Maybe it was better that way.
"They left us behind the first moment they got!" Evil Elsa declared and looked around. "Noticed how none of them came for you? You tried to help them, and this is the thanks you get?"
Elsa started to doubt herself even more and the dust started to swarm around her. Evil Elsa then used this dust storm to come out of the reflection and given a (sort of) physical form throughout the sand and started to circle Elsa.
"It's time you learned a lesson!" Evil Elsa declared as she started to sing. "It's time you learned to understand! Don't ever count on anybody else!"
Similar images of Evil Elsa appeared and showed images of Anna, Hiccup, Jack, Raya, Rapunzel, and everyone else that she has met along the way turning their backs to her in disappointment and anger.
"In this or any other land!" Evil Elsa sang to her as Elsa started to feel ashamed of herself when she started to realize what was happening.
"No, this is Pitch. He's the one doing this." Elsa whispered as she looked around the storm.
"Anna!" Elsa heard the familiar voice of herself call out as she looked and saw the memory of the day that she almost killed her sister with her powers.
Elsa remembered that day and realized that wasn't Pitch's fault but her own. That was her own fault. She did that. No one can be blamed but herself for that. Her powers always hurt the people close to her. Every time she gets close to someone, she hurts them.
"Do you really think they'll offer you friendship? Or even anything more? These are childish wishes of someone who is blind!" Evil Elsa sang as Elsa watched all of her friends turn away in disgust. She began to tear up and tried to fight it off, but the messages were getting through to her. "Open up your eyes! See the world for where we stand!"
Flashes of the memory of her impaling an unsuspecting Hiccup with an icicle showed and reminded her that she was responsible for this. She truly was nothing more than just a monster who does nothing but kill people.
"We could live among the mighty! You have me caged at your command!" Evil Elsa declared as she returned and stood back-to-back of her real counterpart before moving in to whisper in her ear. "Open up your eyes..."
"Give up your sweet fantasyland." Elsa turned to smack the monster, but only looked to see that she had vanished. "It's time to grow up and get wise! Come now, little one. Open up your eyes!"
Elsa started to try and fight back using her powers, but she didn't realize that was only empowering the darkness over her. "Conceal. Don't feel..."
"We all start out the same." Evil Elsa whispered as she circled over Elsa, becoming more realistic whilst the cold air and ice crystals started to give her more of a shape. "With simple naïve trust. Shielded from the many ways that life's not fair or just." Then she saw images of her parents shielding and protecting her by locking her away from the world, only for them to die and leave her defenseless from her power. "But then there comes a moment. A simple truth that you must face. If you hide from yourself, you'll never find your place."
Elsa starts to fall into the darkness and looked down to see her dress was starting to darken and her skin following close behind.
"And as you take that first step, upon a path that's all your own." Evil Elsa started to form into Elsa as if she was a second skin and walked to consume her. "You see it all so clearly. The best way to survive is all alone!"
Elsa started to consume herself in the darkness as the Evil Elsa starts to become the true Elsa. Her dress became darker, and her skin became less pale as Evil Elsa consumed her weaker self.
"Open up your eyes!" Evil Elsa said as a smile formed and she was gaining a real body, no longer just a nightmare. "And see the world from where I stand! Me among the mighty! You caged at my command!"
Elsa did start to give in. She saw herself as she always has been. Weak. Futile. Unworthy.
"Open up your eyes!" Evil Elsa sang as she finally started to control Elsa's body. "And behold the fading light." She was now in control. "It's time to grow up and get wise!"
Evil Elsa then started to absorb all of the ice that Elsa had unleashed and started to become even more powerful due to it. She then closed her eyes for a moment and allowed herself to get used to the energy she absorbed.
"Come now, little one. Open up your eyes!" Evil Elsa then opened her eyes and revealed even the snow-white of Elsa's eyes were now darkened and she had a giant grin to match. "Open up your eyes!"
Elsa had been corrupted by the darkness...
Jack watched as the box finally opened and there was nothing there. Shock filled his face as he didn't understand what happened.
"Confused?" Madame Web appeared once again, scaring Jack a second time.
"What the heck, is this a joke?" Jack asked as he showed her the box. "What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Did you truly think I would go through all the trouble to bring all of you together, just to give you a weapon to stop him when I could have done that myself?" Web asked him with a sarcastic tone.
Jack thought of it and realized that she was right. "Well, when you put it like that..."
"There is no secret weapon to stop him." Web stated as she saw she needed to help him understand and tapped his head to show him the truth.
"The reason why you were all brought here is because of this man. Pitch Black." That name seems to mean something to everyone in the room as they all have a shocking reaction to the name. "He has escaped from a place known simply as the Dark Dimension. And now he's causing terror all over reality."
"And you five are our best hope to stopping him from destroying the worlds." Madame Web continues.
"I was given the gift to always be able to see the future. But not just the one future. I see the outcome of every decision made anywhere, including in this room. If one of you were to get mad and try to escape, then I saw how it was going to end. That's why I chose this room, this place. It had the best outcome, but there are still a dozen ways this could turn out. And I saw that our best hope to save all of our worlds is all of you. And not to mention that with a team of brave and young people like yourselves, I'd believe you'd be glad to help out."
"I saw the many futures and we fail without all of you working together. If not, your worlds burn to the core, followed by a dozen thousand more realities." Madame Web began to show them what will happen to their worlds if Pitch Black succeeds, and they see darkness cover their homes and families and others screaming in pain. "All of the hundreds of people. The people you love. The people you care about. They will all die and burn. Their homes, their hopes, their dreams, they're all counting on you. You can refuse, but all I ask is that you consider the offer."
"Jack, there's something I need to give to you." She makes a golden box with small doors on the head of it.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" Jack asks in confusion as he took it.
"You'll understand when the time comes." Web assures him before following the others whilst Jack tried to open the box, but nothing happens.
Elsa groaned as she began to get up and looked to see they were sleeping in the middle of a forest.
"Good morning, Your Majesty," Jack said with a bow still holding his staff.
"I can't believe it!" Rapunzel cheered as they turned to see the giddy teenager jumping around. "We're actually out here, on an adventure!"
Elsa then looked down and saw a small rock with berries on it in front of her. "What's this?"
Hiccup was also already up and about, mapping out the area they were in with Toothless still resting nearby. "Breakfast." He shrugged as he looked and nodded towards Rapunzel. "Rapunzel was actually the one who put it together. I doubt she or I got a wink of sleep last night."
"Where...where are we?" Anna asks as she looked around.
"I don't know. Rapunzel woke me up, seems she was the only one conscious when we arrived." Hiccup admits as he gestured over to the over-jittery girl. "I have a feeling this is her first time outside in a while."
"We should be careful out here," Elsa informed them as she sat up.
"Sure, because when hasn't nature and fresh air killed anyone?" Hiccup asks her sarcastically, knowing what he's doing as he's been alone for a long time. "Don't worry about the berries, I've made sure they aren't poisonous or anything."
"How could you tell?" Elsa asks him.
"I've been on my own for years, you learn to tell the difference." Hiccup answered with a shrug.
Jack looked at his leaf and took a few berries and tossed one, causing it to bounce off of the middle of Anna's head.
"Bullseye!" Jack cheered with a laugh.
"Is everything a joke with you?" Elsa asks Jack.
"Only if it's funny." Jack shrugged as he sat down on a boulder.
"Why are we just wandering through the forest?" Jack asks as he swings his staff over his shoulders. "This is taking ages!"
"We can't all fly, you do realize that, right?" Elsa asked him.
"Well, maybe you do, and you just don't know it yet." Jack shrugged, recognizing how she had similar powers to him with the way she was dressed in ice and the snow-white hair. "You ever come into life with all your memories gone and a stick nearby?"
"What? No." Elsa stated in confusion before becoming curious about how he gained his powers. "What exactly happened to you that caused you to have powers like this?"
"Uh..." Jack stops and does his best to remember. "Honestly, it just feels like I was created this way."
"Created?" Rapunzel asked in confusion.
"I...the first thing I remember is darkness," Jack confessed with a look of sadness. "Darkness. It was dark, and it was cold. And I was scared. But then I saw the moon. Then it seemed to chase the darkness away. And then, I wasn't scared anymore." He told them, feeling how amazed it is to finally tell people this. "Why I was there and what I was meant to do, that I never found out. Maybe this is the reason."
"So, how'd you end up by yourself?" Jack asked curiously.
"After some time, I saw that I couldn't keep Toothless at Berk as someone was bound to find him eventually. So I decided it was best that we left." Hiccup explained to them. "It was the greatest decision I made."
"But don't you worry about your mom or dad?" Rapunzel asked. "I mean, I know my mother is going to be gone for a while, so she won't notice I'm gone to be worried."
Hiccup then looked down sadly at the reminder of his parents. "My...my mom was killed by dragons when I was a baby. And my dad, heh, he didn't care about me until I was becoming someone I wasn't. I couldn't keep lying to him or myself, one of the other reasons I left."
"I'm sorry to hear that." Elsa apologized. "Our parents also died when we were younger."
"I...I don't remember my folks." Jack said with a sad look on his face as he took a seat next to Hiccup.
Rapunzel then looked sorry for her teammates as even though she doesn't even know if she ever had a father, she would feel devastated if she lost her mother.
"So, what's your story?" Jack snapped everyone out of their sad faces and looked to Rapunzel.
Rapunzel became flushed, with no idea if she should tell them about her hair just yet, considering her mother told her nobody could know. "Well...I-I've been inside my tower for most of my life."
"How long?" Jack asked.
"Forever, I guess." Rapunzel shrugged. "I've never left my tower before, so when I was called here, I thought maybe I should jump at the opportunity." She looked up to the sky and smiled. "See the outside world, and maybe even learn a little about myself."
Madame Web continued to show Jack all the moments they've lived so he could see the truth.
"I have seen hundreds of timelines. You all have trodden down so many paths as it is, leaning towards winning and losing this battle. I send you down the path, it's the six of you who have been paving the road. And while you were taking the road, you were building relationships. I didn't force any of you to do that. That was your choice. The only way to weaken darkness is with light. Pure light. Pure hope."
"Look at you!" Pitch laughed as if this was all a joke to him. "You can't even work together, and you're supposed to defeat me? I don't think so."
"Is all of this just a game to you?" Hiccup asked as he gestured around the destruction. "All of this death and destruction and for what?!"
"To finally be FREE!" Pitch declared. "And that will be easier once you're dead." He then created a wave of dark energy and tossed it at them like a tidal wave.
"We need to go!" Jack cried as he raced off, followed by the others close behind him.
Rapunzel looked in shock before running off with them, but her hair seemed to have been caught to some wood and caused her to trip.
"Ahh!" Rapunzel cried out, causing Hiccup to stop and turn to face her.
"Rapunzel!" Hiccup cried and raced back over to her, quickly making it over to her, but saw the darkness was approaching.
Not knowing what else he can do, Hiccup grabbed onto Rapunzel and attempted to shield her from the wave as she wrapped her arms around him in fear. The two closed their eyes and waited for the approaching darkness to consume them.
But to everyone's shock, including Pitch's, once the wave hit them, the dark sand suddenly became a golden globe and suddenly the dust is sent flying back towards Pitch. Once it reaches him, it sends Pitch flying backward and caused him to scream in pain.
But Jack then got a closer look at what happened that moment and watched as the moment Hiccup shielded Rapunzel, she wrapped her arms around him. At that moment, that's when the dust was defeated.
"The only way to defeat darkness...is by countering it with light..."
Hiccup wasn't the one to save her.
Rapunzel was the one who saved him.
"Rapunzel..." Jack suddenly started to understand. She had the power to weaken Pitch.
He could consume everything dark and evil, but Rapunzel was able to weaken his will, if he had to guess so could Anna as they we're almost identical with how they see the world. Jack and Elsa were able to weaken his powers. Hiccup and Raya were skilled fighters to finish the job. Sisu and Toothless were just helping hands and were able to help weaken him if they needed. But it truly was up to the six of them to work together and defeat him.
"I need to get the team back."
He then opened his eyes and was right back in the pit and saw Pascal was the only person around as it seemed Madame Web has left him to finish the job.
And he would.
"Rapunzel. Pitch still has her." Jack said as he finally understood what he needed to do. He tossed the meaningless box to the side and reached down as he picked Pascal up before he placed him on his shoulder. "We have to get out of here."
Jack slid down, filled with new energy as he picked up the two pieces of his staff and tried to piece them together. He put them together and just thought it'd fix itself. Jack tried to think of it and started to focus on his powers to try and freeze it back together. It began to work, and his powers started to slowly return.
As soon as he had the power to, Jack took off into the air and began to fly to find and rescue Rapunzel. Once he had her, he could meet up with everyone else in Arendelle and she could heal Hiccup.
"Come on, Pascal! Time to get the team back together!" Jack cried as he was filled with new energy and was ready to finally stop Pitch once and for all. But then he wondered where he needed to go.
Then he looked down and noticed that his staff was freezing in a specific direction, causing him to turn and the ice to move to gesture him forward. His staff had become a sort of compass to locate Rapunzel?
Madame Web is full of surprises.
Jack decided to trust her and the staff as he flew off into the sunrise as it truly was a new dawn. The rise of the team, and eventually the fall of Pitch Black.
