Hey Y'all!

So new chapter, YAY! things are definitely getting more interesting, but I'm glad y'all are here for the ride.

this is sorta a filler chapter, just to gloss over the part of the book, (you'll recognize it don't worry) and there is a direct scene from the movie so that's not mine.

More notes at the end of the chapter, Enjoy!

"The what?" Harry, Hermione, and Ron all said at the same time. "But sir, you didn't make us do anything, it was my idea!" Hermione finished.

"No my dear, that was just what I made you believe. I put the idea in your heads, then made you forget my involvement." he stated calmly as if this wasn't a declaration of treason.

"So you have been plotting against me Albus!" Fudge yelled. The minister seemed a bit flustered at this turn of events since his greatest conspiracy theory was just proven true. "You and Potter!" He rounded back onto the teen. "Oh don't think I have forgotten about you, boy. I don't know how you got off of that fake Dementor charge, but your unrest has gone unchecked for far too long. Azkabahn is sure to straighten the both of you out!" two of the aurors broke away from the minister and began to wrestle Harry into custody, and ended up causing a lot of fighting among the two officials and the trio.

"Cornelius!" Albus interrupted. "They did nothing wrong. I imperioused them." Everyone stopped their struggles at the announcement.

"You- you used an unforgivable curse on three students?" Umbridge asked in disbelief.

"Oh no Delores. I used an unforgivable curse on every single student who participated in this rebel group. you'll find all of their names on this parchment, everyone who I put the spell on." With a wave of his wand the sign up sheet for Dumbledore's Army appeared and floated infront of the Minister.

"Dumbledore's Army?" Fudge whispered beneath his breath as he studied the list. On the parchment, everyone's names glowed a faint green from the snitch spell that Hermione cast, except for the name 'Marietta Edgecombe'. "Is there a reason that Miss Edgecombe's name is smeared red?"

"I had Miss Granger enchant the list for those who spoke the secret, and I believe Miss Edgecombe is currently suffering the effects." Marietta hid her face further behind her hands, leaning into Cho for support as her sobs grew louder. "But none of this was under any of these children's own doing. I am the only one responsible."

"Yes, well given the evidence, I suppose you are." Fudge agreed and turned to the aurors holding Harry. "Take him in. Dumbledore, you will be kept in a ministry cell until your trial. After which you will be sent to Azkabahn for treason against the Ministry." The aurors moved towards the headmaster with wands raised.

"I thought we might hit this little snag." he stepped back towards his desk calmly. "You seem to be laboring under the delusion that I'm going to… what was the phrase, come quietly? Well I can tell you this, I have no intention of going to Azkabahn." With those parting words and one last wink towards the trio, Dumbledore raised his arms and grabbed Fawkes' tail, the both of them disappearing in sparks.

As everyone gathered their bearings, Harry heard Shacklebolt mutter to fudge, "You may not like him, Minister. But you can't deny, Dumbledore's got style."

After a moment to gather his thoughts, Fudge turned to Umbridge, "You now hold the power of Headmaster, as well as the title of High Inquisitor. If we hurry, we can get the announcement out of Dumbledore's betrayal to the Daily Prophet. Excuse us."

"What about the children, they participated in treason as well!" the pink toad screeched.

"You heard Dumbledore, he performed an unforgivable curse on them so they can't be punished by the law," He smirked as he turned away from the teens. "They are your students." With that the minister and all of the aurors left the room.

There was a sinking feeling inside Harry as the new Headmistress turned to face them, a wide smile on her face. "I see. Perhaps I have been a little too lenient with you children. Miss Edgecombe, you mentioned a secret room where the army would meet, didn't you?"

The crying girl merely nodded. Cho caught Harry's eye and mouthed 'i'm sorry' but he turned away, not willing to let her see how much hurt she caused. Sure the Army was destroyed, but the only person able to protect the students from Umbridge had been forced to leave the school and it was her friends fault. The friend who only joined because of Cho's insistence.

"Could you bring me to the room my dear? Miss Chang and Mister Potter will join us."

"But what about-"

"You two will have to wait until morning for your punishments, along with all the other members of Dumbledore's Army." she sneered the last words drawing them out with disgust. "Now off to your dormitories."

Hermione stood her ground, and Harry was glad that she was willing to stand up for him, but this wasn't a battle she could win, and he didn't want her to get hurt. "I'll be fine Hermione. Go with Ron." The red head was hesitant at the order as well but after an encouraging nod, he gently grabbed Hermione's arm and steered her out of the office and hopefully back to their house.

Umbridge smiled at the closed door before rounding on Harry. "I thought we had fixed you, all of those detentions gone to waste with this behavior." she tutted stepping closer to Harry. He stared her right in the eye, barely flinching when she slapped her hand across his face knocking his glasses askew. Both of the other girls gasped in shock at the rough treatment. "Now Miss Edgecombe, if you could lead the way." she stayed rooted where she stood, her eyes peaking through her fingers at the growing red skin on Harry's cheek. Should have been more concerned before you turned us in. "Miss Edgecombe!" Umbridge spoke sharply snapping the girl out of her stare. "The secret room please."

Marietta said nothing as she walked slowly on shaking legs out the door, heavily supported by Cho. "Your wand Mr. Potter." Umbridges pudgy hand waited patiently as he harshly pulled it from his pocket and roughly smacked it in her hand. Another slap to the face and a leather bracelet appeared around his right wrist, connected to a leash that umbridge must have conjured up.

"I can't have you wondering off now can I?" She pulled him along after Marietta and Cho who were waiting at the buttom of the stair well. Cho's eyes widened at the leash but made no comment as Marietta lead them towards the room of requirement. Harry felt like a kid in one of those backpack leashes, he wasn't able to go very far, the leash only gave him three feet of movement away from Umbridge, but the vial toad would tug it every once and a while, sometimes causing him to lose his balance and trip. He could hear the whispered conversation between Cho and Marietta. Probably trying to comfort each other.

As glad as he was that Ron and Hermione weren't there to face a punishment, he wished they could be there for comfort. The group had made it to the seventh floor corridor which housed the room of requirement.

"Miss Edgecombe? If you have been playing me for a fool, you will not like the consequences." Umbridge growled as she stared at the empty wall in front of her.

Harry looked at the two girls and it seemed as if they had finally grown a backbone and no longer wanted to help the professor with anything. However, he wasn't about to let them suffer through the consequences.

"It's a magic room professor." Harry spoke, regretting that it turned the older witches attention to him. "It's alright you can show her." He directed towards the two girls. Cho nodded and led Marietta to the side as she was still covering her face. After pacing the required amount, Cho turned towards the wall and the four of them watched the door appear. Umbridge motioned for Cho to open the door and she did so, leading the way into the practice room.

Since the room was normally created by him or Hermione, he knew what it was supposed to consist of. But Cho was never there for the making of the room so certain things were missing. The cushions that they kept in the corner were gone, as well as the book shelf. Where he stood generally to teach was a raised area instead of the usual level floor that he taught from. Overall the room looked the same. Umbridge dragged him around the room to inspect it, not caring that he would run into her with her sudden starts and stops.

"Well this is quite the find Mr. Potter." she chuckled as she led him back to the door. "Thank you Miss Chang for showing me this unique room. You and Miss Edgecombe are dismissed, and it would probably be wise to take her to the Medical Wing. Perhaps Madame Pomfrey could help relieve the curse's side effects?"

"But what about Harry?" Cho asked as she gathered Marietta from the wall. Harry almost felt touched by the concern, but was still too angered by the betrayal.

"Mr. Potter's punishment is of no concern to you. Now leave before I lose my temper." With one last look at Harry, Cho guided her friend down the hall.

"Now Mr. Potter, I believe this room could be of use to me. After all, I don't believe our current method is working out for us." Umbridge then proceeded to drag him as she walked the three paces, mumbling about a room for a lost thing. When the door materialized this time, it was older. Harry could almost see cobwebs on the oak. Umbridge opened the door with some caution, still not used to the rooms magic, but when she saw inside she lit up with delight.

On the other side of the door were unorganized rows upon rows of clutter. It was like a lost and found, only none of these things were ever found. Looking up, the ceiling was far away as well as wide, even larger than the Great hall. Cringing, he was forced to follow Umbridge as she maneuvered through the many piles. They took so many turns that Harry wasn't sure he could find a way out. Especially without his wand.

"Professor, where are we going?" he dared to ask. The abnormally pink witch didn't falter in her apparent search.

After many more twists and turns, Umbridge paused in her search. It was a pretty large open space about the size of the boys dormitories. Looking around, it seemed like the middle of the room, as the roof had the highest peak above them. For whatever reason, Umbridge decided that this was where they were stopping.

"Stay there Mister Potter." She spelled the end of his leash to connect to the floor, so Harry thought that the warning was pointless. Where am I supposed to go? Back the way we came? Harry snorted at the thought, earning a glare from the vile witch. However the thought was too true. He couldn't even identify which path they had taken to get there. Sighing he watched the woman walk around the space, tapping her wand and muttering as she circled. Finally she finished whatever she had been doing and pointed in the middle of the area.

Liquid metal began to pour out of the middle, pooling until there was a circle larger than he was laying down. Slowly small tendrils of metal raised from the edges of the circle, winding together to form some intricate design, connecting in a dome at the top.

"Professor, what is- what is that?" When the metal had stopped moving, it resembled a bird cage, except the bars weren't smooth. If Harry was being honest, the barbs and weaving of the bars reminded him of a thicket with thorns.

"That Mr. Potter, is your new home." Harry stared at the clearly delusional woman.

"My what?"

"I've thought long and hard about this Mr. Potter." She moved closer and ran a hand down his cheek in what would have been a caring manner if it wasn't her. "I have given you many chances to change your behavior, but just when I thought the message was sinking in, it turns out that you were leading an illegal organization to arm your fellow students against the ministry," the hand on his cheek gripped his chin harshly and pulled him closer to Umbridge's pudgy face. "Well, I noticed that you aren't really being persuaded to stop this unruly behavior." Releasing him, she turned around and faced the cage proudly. "And I had to think about what would be a true deterrent, and I realized that you rely heavily on your friends for support. So the best way to punish you would be to separate you from your peers." the toad's face gleamed as she spoke, like she had solved some overly complicated math problem and was showing the teacher her answer.

"You're locking me up?" Harry couldn't believe it. Hogwarts was supposed to be his safe place, were he didn't have to worry about the harsh restrictions from the Dursleys. Yet here he was, about to be locked in a cage, a cage, just because he refused to lie,

"Yes. You're much too unpredictable to be allowed free reign as you do. I think one or two years away from the world would do you good."

"Years?" he sputtered. This woman thought she could get away with hiding the wizarding world's Boy-Who-Lived for years? "What about Voldemort or death eaters or -"

"If those lies prove to be true, then I'll come back to release you." She waved her wand and suddenly Harry was in the cage instead of out. The leash around his wrist changed to an iron shackle which connected to the middle of the cage. "After the ministry has dealt with him." With one last confident smile, Umbridge waved her wand and a tarp fell over the cage, completely cutting Harry off from the world.

So if you're still speaking to me, thanks. Also... Do you hate Umbridge as much as I do yet?

One of the comments I recieved on AO3 gave me some inspiration about the next few chapters, which sadly means, Harry's predicament is going to last a little longer.

the next few chapters will also be over multiple pov's which I think y'all will enjoy, and if I do it right, will change your opinions about some of your favorite characters :)
