The moment she stepped into the library she had an odd feeling, she couldn't quite put her finger on. It was normally quiet, but the silence hung thick in the air like tension between former lovers meeting for the first time since their breakup. This wasn't the usual quiet when everyone was studying and getting ready for an exam. The silence was deafening, as if something horrible and unpredictable was going to happen.

She studied the other wizards and witches, who hardly paid her any attention when she walked pass their table. They kept their head down and now that she was close, realized that they weren't moving at all. Everyone was perfectly still, as if they had been bewitched or a charm was cast. There was only one wizard she knew was capable of something powerful, and would do this for his own enjoyment.

"Riddle," Hermione fumed. Being the Head Girl became an infuriating title when she had to keep fixing his pranks and antics almost on a weekly basis. When she could be reading or studying, she had to undo all the things he caused.

She quickly spun on her heels. Just a few meters away by the entrance was Tom Riddle Jr. smirking and grinning at her.

"Taking away ten points from Slytherin. It really should be ten per person in here. Fix this," she said, as she stomped towards him. She was like a bull ready to attack her prey.

He spun his wand with his fingers and snickered. "No."

"Riddle," she placed her hand on her hips with the toe of her shoes pointed at him, ready to kick his shin.

"Prove to me, that you're better with spells and magic. Isn't that what you said earlier today?"

"I'm better in duels, is what I said, and I was. I beat you three out of five times. What exactly crawled up your arse that you immobilized everyone in here?"

He stepped closer and towered over her. She didn't move a single centimeter and stared up at him. He didn't like that she was able to beat him when most of the time, he was the one everyone tried to defeat. His pride and ego were bruised.

"You, Miss Know-it-all," he snarled.

"I beat you today out of how many? Undo this now," she jabbed his chest with her pointer finger.

"Or what?" he stared her down.

"I guess I'll just have to keep kicking your arse in D.A.D.A."

"It will never happen again."

She grinned. He hated that grin. She turned her back to him and moved her wand in the air. "Omnis mobilis," she cast a spell underneath her breath as her wand moved in zigzag patterns, lifting his charm.

The room was quickly filled with sounds of pages turning, quills against parchment, and whispers as if nothing ever happened. Her peers continued to go on about their tasks.

Her robe fluttered as she walked away from him and pass the tables to the rows of shelves she came for. She inhaled the scent of books and old paper, that always made her smile.

Tom clenched his fists in rage and stomped out of the room after being defeated again. He didn't care that his House lost points and that he was the sole reason they could never get pass the one hundred mark.

Professor Slughorn had a surprise for his Sixth and Seventh Year classes. He brought a vial of Amortentia, for the upcoming holiday. Each student took a whiff of the Potion and wrote what they smelled.

"Fried chicken, grass, broomstick," Seamus answered.

"Quidditch!" one replied.

"Musk, yew, aftershave," Bellatrix volunteered.

"Tom Riddle!" most of the class shouted.

He groaned and shook his head.

"Mr. Riddle, I believe it's your turn."

He kept his head low. His eyes didn't move from his paper. "Dragon heartstrings, ephemera, hyacinth."

"I've got dragon heartstrings core in my wand," Bellatrix smiled.

Harry leaned to his right and began sniffing around Hermione. "You've also got Dragon heartstrings core and smell of flowers."

"Hush it," she sneered.

"Miss Granger, you're up next."

Harry smirked beside her as he took a glance at her paper.

"Phoenix feather, broomstick, Butterbeer."

"Harry Potter," everyone cheered.

"Liar," Harry whispered. "You crossed out the last word," he kept making the 's' sound while trying to read the word she crossed out multiple times. "Snake. Slytherin. Smoke. There's only one student in all of Hogwarts, who enjoys a smoke."

Tom was staring at the both of them and how close they were leaning towards each other. Harry put his arm around her shoulder to tease his rival Seeker. Slytherin and Gryffindor were always head to head when it came to matches and they were the best Seekers in the past decade.

"He's watching us," he whispered close in her ear. "Want to get Butterbeer with me?" he chuckled.

Hermione elbowed his stomach, causing him to topple over on his desk. She didn't mean to hit him hard, only to push him away. Either way, Tom was grinning as he saw his rival in pain.

"Sorry, Harry."

"Hermione also has," his words were cut off when she placed her palm over his mouth. The bell rang and class was dismissed before he could retaliate.
