Chapter 5: The Belly of the Beast

AN: So the next chapter is up. The reason it's so speedy is because it doesn't have to go through grammar checking except by me; the problem is that there is a higher chances of more mistakes. I do apologize for the size, as it is much smaller than usual, but I have been hearing that some people prefer shorter chapter, rather than my humongous 'A Daughter's Difference' usual size. Let me know if you guys prefer shorter chapter or longer ones, and I'll adjust for this story only. My other story has it's group that prefer the long format, but this is a different group so I'm willing to listen to you guys.

It was a dark room, aside for a small light source at the end of place. The sounds of water running echoed throughout the room. At the end of the enclosed space rested a figure against the wall of his makeshift bathtub. The water continued the replenish itself to give the effect of a lake with a cascade, never overfilling as the liquid was being drained at the same rate as the cascade added new water.

The small light above the tub produced an ambient atmosphere of serenity. The onyx-haired figure opened his eyes. He cupped his hands underwater and pulled them out with said fluid before splashing his face. His spiky shoulder-length hair floated on the water as he made his way to the other side of tub. He reached to press a small button on the wall beyond the tank. After small hiss, a portion of the wall shifted allowing a window to the outside.

The entire window displayed mostly a black void with small points in the distance. These small orbs had no specific order but shined through the darkness. The man rested his head on his forearms, both laying on the side of the tub, and looked out into the empty space with a small smile.

Behind him, well within the dark room, opened a panel from above and a small screen came down. It flickered for a bit before the image rested on a face. That is not to say that it was human or even living, but rather the face on display appeared electronic and mechanical.

Lord Dekaido, it is well past the time for your meeting with the other generals. They have been waiting and seem very agitated with your tardiness.

Dekaido remained in his same position, looking out his window. "Have I ever told you, Obai, why I love to stare out this window, into the endless space?" He was directing his question to the On-Board Artificial Intelligence, or Obai as he called it, in the background. This highly intelligent entity was the best Artificial Intelligence the Saiyan had ever come across, and the system was in control of all the operations of the ship, and acting personal assistant to Dekaido.

No sir.

"It's calm … and quiet. It appears as non-changing, yet every second millions of actions are taking place that further enhances or destroys systems as a whole. Tranquil at mere sight, but space is anything but that; it's complex and dangerous on the inside," he explained with the same smile on his tilted head.

Dekaido continued, "I could look out this window for days, and still be fascinated with what I see."

Sir, the time allowed to receive a acknowledgement for my earlier statement has expired; therefore, I'm forced to repeat my previous report: Lord Dekaido, it is—

"Duly noted, Obai," he interrupted. He reached to press the same button that would close his window.

Once closed, he made his way to the other side of the bath to exit while asking, "Tell me, how did our first-contact mission, go?"

A failure sir, as you expected.

"I see; any survivors?" The naked man picked up the red robe and gauntlet waiting for him on a chair next to the bath. His brown tail poked through the small opening in the back of the robe and wrapped itself around his waistline.

Yes sir, there were 3,478 survivors, most in varying degrees of injuries and all from Roosen's camp. His forces however lost 1,532; this number also includes those that have yet to report in so they are assumed as dead.

This made the Saiyan-hybrid stop and turn to Obai with a questioning look. "Five thousand and ten soldiers?! I only allocated ten soldiers with an optional five more! Who allowed the extras?!"

Obai stayed quiet on her monitor.

"Who Obai?!" The serene Dekaido from a few seconds ago had disappeared, and the working Dekaido was in full charge once again.

Her robotic voice came back after a few seconds, Processing sir. Please give me one minute more to download the order forms.

It appears General Roosen requested the deployment of the rest of the soldiers.

Dekaido paced back and forth grumbling about what he was going to do with green-skinned peacock of a general, Roosen. Finally he stopped and just took a couple breathes of air to calm himself.

Sir, I highly advice attending the meeting. Some members are requesting a leave on the basis of your tardiness. What shall I tell them?

"That they better stay in their seats because I'm coming,"he growled.

Very well sir. What outfit will you be wearing?

He took another deep breath of air to calm himself. "Give me casual three."

Lord Dekaido, it is very unprofessional to arrive at a meeting late AND underdressed. May I suggest something from your Leader line-up as an alternative?

"It's just a meeting to discuss the first operation. One that I can see will be a long conversation, and I'd rather be in comfortable clothing for long periods of time. However on second thought, this robe is quite comfortable. I think I'll wear this instead." Dekaido made his way to the exit of the room on the other side of the bath.

Lord Dekaido, a robe is not—

"Duly noted Obai!" he cut her off with a wave as he left his bathroom. It was highly intelligent, but that didn't mean she didn't grate on his nerves at times with her protocols.

As the Saiyan left his room, he walked the corridors he had grown to know over the last year since acquiring this ship. It was by no means a small or even fast ship, but he sacrificed speed for a much greater capacity. Enough to carry extreme amounts of different soldiers of all types and builds.

Every walkway had some creatures walking about, but all immediately jumped to stand by the closest wall and saluted as Dekaido passed by. They knew to always clear a path for their grand leader. Still it took a couple a few seconds to comply with the universally accepted law of staying clear, as they had never seen Lord Dekaido in his bath robe walking around.

Dekaido casually passed these soldiers, even saluted a couple on his way to the conference room. He took a small elevator where he exchanged small talk with a yellow-skinned fighter of the Fang Clan; mostly about some of the stuffy conditions he and his groups were experiencing in some of the lower levels of the ship. Dekaido promised to look into it as he exited the elevator.

He was about to open the door when he heard, "I'm gone. Dekaido isn't coming and I'm tired of waiting." The door slid open and in front of Dekaido stood an imposing brown furred humanoid with a lined black mane extending down to his mid-back.

"You were saying… Equistal," Dekaido quipped with his arms crossed. "Please indulge me in sitting once again. I promise I won't take long if you're in such a hurry."

"Lord Dekaido!" he exclaimed, shocked to see the owner of the ship finally arrive just after his recent outburst, yet he hadn't move from his current position.

"Well… are you going to let me in?" Dekaido asked with a raised eyebrow.

The large humanoid instantly moved to the side of the door to allow the Saiyan hybrid through.

Dekaido took one step into the room before turning to the man standing by the door. "Funny, I could've sworn I told you to find your seat, or is it that you need my hand to find it, Equistal?"

The brown-furred towering creature quickly made his way back to the table where the other eleven generals were still stationed. Upon Dekaido's entrance, the other eleven stood up to recognize the entrance of their leader.

"Please friends… have a seat," Dekaido added upon seeing his twelve generals all saluting him. He walked until he stood next to his designated chair at the oval table.

"It appears we have caught you at the wrong time my Lord," a stunning female relied. Her beauty intoxicated any male from a far, but her golden eyes told she was no one's plaything. Her skin predominantly appeared creamy and soft, but the large scar that marred the right side of her face ruined the perfection she once had. Still the battle damage showed that she was willing to get her hands dirty if need be, and why she was in command of her den.

The onyx-haired Saiyan only gave an amused snort before continuing, "It's funny you should mentioned that Felyer. I was, very much, relaxing as I awaited the results of the men I sent down to the planet. Imagine my shock when I get the results back."

His line of sight moved from the female to green-skinned creature with claws; a being that sported feathers rather than hair or fur, but only in certain areas of his body and finally an enlarged amass of red skin from his beak to the back of his head. "A failure, but I expected that. What I didn't expect is that the possible fifteen men I send down would turn out to multiply until they became over five thousand mobilized."

"Now Roosen, I know your forces can't multiply at will, so please explain why were my orders ignored? Or why do I have Obai informing me that you went behind my back to add more fighters into the fray, when I specifically stated ONLY FIFTEEN?!" Dekaido had begun with a calm voice, but by the end he was screaming at the red-jacket alien.

The Saiyan hybrid walked towards Roosen a few chairs away. "Tell me one good reason why I should not tear you to pieces right here, right now," he threaten in a low voice for Roosen to hear.

The green-skinned alien fretted under the gaze of the Saiyan, and only got worse as Dekaido go closer. "Eh— ah— you see, I was only trying to accomplish ou-our goal of eliminating Son Gohan. A-And I was almost successful sir, but then more and more people kept arriving, so my fighters couldn't finish him off, but I was close." he quickly added that last part in part to save face in front of the other.

"Poor Roosen, my clucking friend, you failed to see the big picture." He placed his hands on Roosen's feathered shoulder. "I always knew the fifteen were going to fail. If it was this easy to take down Son Gohan, then I wouldn't have put so much effort in recruiting all of you.

"This was a mere test to prove my theory; Gohan is always well protected. Yet in your impatience for results, you only managed to kill a greater number of MY soldiers. An action I don't take very lightly as it shows my enemies that I'm sloppy, am I sloppy Roosen?" the Saiyan inquired as put more pressure into his shoulders.

"No," he squawked.

The golden-eyed Felyer decided interject, not because she cared for what happened to Roosen as she could care less for anyone in the table, but because she wanted to move on, "Well, they were his army, and only he suffered losses in his numbers. Honestly I'm more interested in why all his little green chickens ran for the hills?"

"That's where you're wrong Felyer," Dekaido chimed in. "Every person on this ship is under my command, even all of you, so Roosen's actions affects MY soldiers, and if I find an incompetent general then I must fire him the only way I know how." He released his strong hold over Roosen and continued, "Still, you bring up a good point. With as many fighters returning back home, it begs the question of why did so many run."

The green-skinned alien looked around at the stares from all around before speaking up, "Fuyu was there."

"That's it, one person made you run with your tail between your legs?" Equistal laughed.

Roosen slammed his claws onto the table. "You don't know what kind of monster Fuyu is! She is creature I swear comes from the pits of HIFL if I didn't know any better! I'm pretty sure everyone in this table has heard or even knew who Frieza or Cooler or even King Cold were, right?" Aside from getting a few nods, most stayed silent as Roosen ranted. "These Ice-jins were ruthless and sadistic, and half of Fuyu's biology belongs to this family. She is the daughter of Glacel, the youngest daughter of the puppeteer King Cold."

"So what does a daughter of the Cold Empire care enough to protect a Saiyan like Son Gohan?" Felyer asked with some intrigue. "Unless she was there to kill him herself."

The beaked Roosen shook his head, "She wouldn't kill her father. As much of a heartless beast she appears to be, she protects her parents and their vision of the universe with her very own life."

"That's impossible! Everyone knows the Saiyans and the Ice-jins don't get along. The Ice-jins blame the death of the Cold Family on the rogue Saiyan Goku, and those from Planet Saiya distrust the Ice-jins as there are rumors that Frieza was responsible for the destruction Planet Vegeta. To imply that there is a child born from these races, which hate each other so much, is simply ludicrous." Felyer protested against Roosen's claims of Fuyu's parentage.

Roosen huffed as he bit back, "I'm tell you guys the truth! She is the daughter of Gohan and Glacel, the leaders of the neo-PTO in my universe, and Fuyu has the worst of the Ice-jin's and Saiyans' character traits."

"Still, one little girl should not be enough to push an entire army of over three thousand to flee at just her sight." Equistal just rolled his eyes at Roosen's over exaggeration of one being supposed power. The furred humanoid chalked it up to this Fuyu's power to be large, but Roosen's weak power must have magnified it in his head so that she appears like beast from myth.

"I dare any of you to fight her and prove to me that I'm just running my mouth!" the green-skinned individual spat at the other general's lack of interest.

Dekaido gripped Roosen's shoulder and pulled him back into his seat. "Thank you Roosen, but I think I'll be announcing who and when we will be fight next time. For now I forgive you for your rebellious actions, after all we are friends, but more so I'm forgiving you because of all the data we were able to comply from the soldiers that fought and returned."

As he made his way back to where his chair was located he added, "However, in the unfortunate event that you decide to go rogue again, I will not allow you to explain yourself as I will just end you on the spot. Am I clear?"

Dekaido fixed his robe that was slightly slipping when he looked up to see Roosen still nodding. "Good." He turned to Equistal who was smirking, "I don't see the humor in this Equistal. May I remind everyone in this table that the reason we aren't emperor of our domain is usually because of a small group that is always in our respective ways. For Roosen, that person is Fuyu and her parents, so I don't find it humorous, unless you see something I don't?"

"Didn't think so," Dekaido finished after seeing Equistal quickly shake his head, making the black hairs of his mane sway. "As I was saying, while Roosen's actions are questionable, there was one good thing that we got from it. Obai! Please dim the lights and show us the recovered videos from cameras on soldiers from today."

The lights dimmed and in the center of the oval table appeared a multitude of small boxes displaying footages from earlier in the day. All appeared to be showing different viewpoints and even different areas all together of the same forest and the battle it underwent.

"Get a good look at them, and tell me if you recognize any of them?" Dekaido for his part walked around the table as the others scrutinized the videos presented in front.

"There!" Roosen shouted. He pointed at one screen in front where Fuyu could be seen killing one of his men. "Obai! Please freeze that video."

Dekaido nodded at the center, as Obai was programmed to only listen to Dekaido, so he nodded to give permission to Obai to follow through. "So, is this Fuyu?" he asked looking at purple-skinned female with a blue-grey exoskeleton and white hair on the monitor.

"That barely looks like an Ice-jin," commented one of the previously silent members of the table.

Dekaido smiled, "I think that is what a hybrid means. She is technically part of three races; Ice-jins, Saiyans, and Earthling. Still I can see that both the Saiyan and Earthling genes did little to change her overall body type as an Ice-jin primarily. What intrigues me is that she appears to be in her second level evolution of the Ice-jin lineage, well without the horns, so I wonder just how far her power goes? Tell me Roosen, do you know if she can turn into a Super Saiyan or is her blood so diluted that she can't?"

"Honestly my Lord, I'm not sure, but I have heard rumors that she does evolve, and at least a few that swear that her hair turned gold, but I've never seen it," he replied.

Dekaido frowned with the information. "She will be someone we must lookout for if we plan to succeed. How about the others, have any of you seen them?"

For the next few moments all of them continued to study the limited footage, but in the end all just declared they didn't know anyone else on the tapes.

"That's exactly my thoughts. I don't recognize any of these guys, and with Roosen's admission of this Fuyu character, it further proves my theory that these people you see in front. Obai, please freeze the image of all the fighters on the field." All the screens disappeared and only several displays that showed the children of Gohan remained. "These people are not from this universe, like us, they have come from a different timeline."

The Saiyan developed a strong smile, "While he wasn't seen on the tapes, I can promise you this has the scent of Ry all over it. I got to give it to the guy though; he made use of his time to bring together a cohesive group to fight us. I'm impressed. Obai, turn on the lights."

The huge brown-furred Equistal spoke up, "So what if Ryoko pulled some faction to his side. I say we arm a full assault on Earth and finish Son Gohan today."

Dekaido chuckled before it exploded to pure laughter. "That has to be the dumbest move we could make. They are surely on their guard and expecting us if we attacked right now."

The Saiyan's walking came to an end again leaning on his chair. "No, instead we will wait and bide our time. I need to get more information on these people. I want to know their strengths, weakness, abilities, and even what they like to eat. Everything about them, and only then will we precede with the plan 'Falling Sky' and not a moment sooner."

The scarred female wondered, "So, we are just going to sit up here on this ship while you watch until you're good and ready? I hate to agree with black mane over there, but I think we need to act, at least somehow."

"Who said we were just going to only watch. I'll be sending teams down there to challenge and fight these protectors from time to time. I mean there is no better way to put them to the test and learn from them then through battle. Do not worry Felyer, you'll have a chance to stretch your limbs soon enough," he stated with a wink. "I think that concludes this meeting, unless someone else has something else to bring up.

"Oh, Serv before I forget I need you to do something for me." Dekaido addressed a yellow scaly humanoid. "Someone from your camp was telling me that they were having problems with their habitat and it was too humid. I need to you fix this, and contact the ones in charge of repairs if need be. I want my soldiers to have good living quarters.

Serv's thin tongue quickly slithered out before returning to the confines of his mouth. "Shall be done."

With that all of the generals stood up and began making their way out. In the end Dekaido was one of the only ones left when he felt a tug on his red robe. The Saiyan's black iris looked down at one of the smaller generals at his disposal. "Hemli, what can I do for you?"

The small rodent-like creature looked up to Dekaido. "Lord Dekaido, I want to put myself and my nest as your first fighters against these people. You stated that you would be sending limited groups in the beginning to test out their power, and we are ready to prove out place in this coalition."

Dekaido grinned at his words, "I appreciate your enthusiasm, however you know that most of these fights will result in the highest amounts of death rates as there won't be any back-up, are you sure this is what you want?"

The small grey-furred creature nodded, "Son Gohan and his children have destroyed our world, so even if we die then we know that at least the threat known as Son Gohan will soon be eradicated once and for all."

"And as I promise you in the beginning, Son Gohan and the other Saiyans in your universe will pay for their crimes of tearing your universe apart and enslaving a good part of it," Dekaido recalled. "I know you don't agree with all of my decision, and even with some of the actions the others have made, but trust me they have been necessary."

Hemli in his little armor began making his way to the exit. "I am no fool Lord Dekaido, so please don't insult my intelligence by saying that some of the despicable actions have reasoning. I know I sold my soul when I joined this group, but as long as you keep your side of the bargain then I'm okay with your decisions and what you all are."

AN: So we get our first look into Dekaido and his group. If I wasn't clear enough, they are orbiting the planet in Dekaido's ship until deployment. I know some people think that an all out attack would be the best, given how Ryoko's team isn't cooperating, but to Dekaido he believes they are all one united front from the clips he saw. He didn't get to see past Fuyu's entrance, as all of Roosen's forces ran after her entrance, so he doesn't know they are actually fighting amonst themselves.

Let me know if OBAI's speech pattern is distracting, and I can change from the bold letters.

Dear DalekDavros,

I'll explain what happened to this universe's Gohan eventually, but the answer is actually hidden in Ryoko's speech already. If you want to figure it out, you're welcome to try to spot the answer. If you really can't wait and just want to know, then just PM and I'll give you the answer.

Dear Guest,

Funny enough, I wasn't trying to make a reference to KR Decade, but as I read what I wrote and thought about what you stated, I saw many parallels that just made me laugh. It wasn't my intention, but apparently Dekaido is similar is some sense to Decade, but they are fundamentally very different as you will see as the story progresses.

Dear Smithback,

Well I want to thank you for reading my story even if English is not your native tongue. I'm glad you liked that line. It certainly brought a smile to my face as I wrote it jajaja.

Though I'm interested in what is your primary language?

Dear nancy103,

I'm glad you enjoyed that line :) The most important thing is for Gohan to return to Prime because if he dies outside then he and every Gohan in the multiverse and his kids disappear, but if he arrives back to Prime then his other versions and his children will be safe.
