Chapter 8: The Trap

AN: I was completely blown away by all the reviews the last chapter got. To those that review every chapter, I thank you as always, and those like kitsunelover300, I greatly appreciate all the feedback. We continue will our story following the events of the last chapter.

I know that both my stories have received a sudden slow down recently, and the only reason this happen is because my amount of free time has gone down significantly. I am still trying to write but between little time and lack of motivation in the small time that I do have, has made all chapters that much harder to finish faster. I thank you for your patience nevertheless.

A slightly annoyed Ryoko inspected each piece of the weapon that was used against his father. Remains, which were recovered by Bulma from the police department, of the device that almost brought upon the death of Gohan with its plasma-like beam. No piece was left unturned as he picked up the barrel of the gun for what seemed like the hundredth time for a closer inspection. With one eye closed, the blue eyed Ryoko painstakingly moved the weapon from side to side in order to get a better grasp at what he was looking at.

Finally with a sigh of defeat he slammed the barrel down with the other chunks, making a loud bang and partially cracking the metal weapon. He raised both hands through his hair and roughly scratched the back of his head in aggravated gesture of frustration. However that was not the end of his little outburst, when he placed both hands on the desk once again and swiped to the side, making every part airborne before crashing on the cement floor of the lab or imbeds itself into the nearby wall.

Ryoko pulled the nearby wheeled chair and just let himself collapse on its cushiony seat. Partially hunched over, the blue eyes traveler rested his head on his hands, one on each side. His gaze stared ahead, but his mind wandered elsewhere.

Bulma, having heard the crash from her personal lab a few doors down, decided to check upon the young man currently borrowing one of her labs. When she heard that he was in fact an inventor, Bulma decided to extend her facility for his use. Yet the blue haired genius can't say that it was completely for genuine reasons, as a little part of herself wished to learn from this future scientist. Secrets her time had yet to discover, but she figured a little peak at what the future had in store couldn't be all bad, was her reasoning.

With some caution she poked her head into the room where Ryoko sat. In the week since his arrival, he had lost the oversized poncho and remained in his dark blue Gi with a red sash holding his pants to his waist. From afar it was uncanny the resemblance Ryoko had to Gohan, and Bulma would be the first to admit that if she didn't know any better, she would have betted it was Gohan himself in that room.

Hoping to not catch the semi-Saiyan off-guard, Bulma chose wisely to clear her throat rather vocally and knocked on the open door as an extra measure to make sure the onyx-haired male knew she was there.

Ryoko turned to see the blue-haired genius standing by the exit of the lab. With what he hoped was the best smile he could muster at the moment, he acknowledged her presence and signaled her to come in. "Bulma, is everything alright?"

The Capsule Corp heiress gave a few amused snorts as her high heels tapped with each step she took. "I was just about to ask you the same thing. I heard something crash and I came here to see if you were alright. Not that anything here could physically hurt you, but you know I worry nevertheless." Bulma bent down and picked up a couple of the fallen pieces.

Ryoko chuckled as he scratched be back of his neck, a gesture very familiar with the Son men Bulma noted. "Sorry I guess my frustration got the best of me."

"Clearly," Bulma replied as she placed the parts she picked up back on the table. "Do you want to talk about it? I know that when I'm stuck, usually talking about my problem can sometimes shine a light on a solution, I alone, could not have thought of."

Ryoko shook his head and stated, "No offence but I doubt you could help me with this problem."

"I think you're doubting my intelligence. I'm not sure if I exist in your universe but in this one I'm quite smart, if I do say so myself. I'm sure if we put our heads together then we can solve how this machine used to operate," insisted Bulma while holding the barrel in her extended hand.

Ryoko took the barrel from her and smiled for a second before gripping the machine part tightly until it shattered into multiple pieces. "This…." He turned his hand to let the dust and small bits fall to the floor as well. "…means nothing to me. I know how the gun operates because I created them."

"Oh kami, what did you do?!" shouted Bulma while slightly pulling on her hair. "I have to return this to the police… wait… did you just say that you created them? Why on Earth would you create such a thing?" Bulma backpedaled a few steps away from the man from the future.

The blue eyed man blinked a couple times before passively responding with a question of his own, "Why not?"

"Well for one thing, that gun almost killed your father! And secondly, 'death rays' are usually created by bad guys or mad scientists!" she roared. It kind of shook her how calm he was as he took credit for the creation of such vile machinery. There was no guilt or even a trace of embarrassment across his feature as he settled back into his chair.

Ryoko dragged his rolling chair a few feet where some of the other pieces were situated; his feet pushing him forward. He bent down to pick up a few of the pieces and started putting them back on the table next to him. "I will admit that a gun of this capacity, in the wrong hand, could be disastrous as Dekaido has shown. That doesn't change the fact that it was created with only the best intentions, and I still believe that I did no wrong by making it in the first place. Answer me this Ms. Briefs from one scientist to another, who would you say is your strongest protector? Who do you place your trust on the safety of this planet to?"

"…well he is not alive now, but when he was, I would have said Goku," Bulma answered somewhat perplexed by the strange question.

Ryoko kept his serene expression as he acknowledged her response. "I never met the man, but I have heard great things about him. Well imagine one day, had he been alive of course, that he turned rogue… that he no longer fought for humanity, but rather chose to indulge in his own selfish desires and attempted to enslave the population. He is your strongest, as you claimed, so how do you stop someone like that? How do you stop the most powerful being?"

"Goku would never turn against us," Bulma promptly responded. "That is just simply not possible."

The onyx-haired male chuckled as he talked. "Ma'am, I traveled here from a completely different universe than this one. One that barely has any similarities to this reality, and I long ago abandoned my thoughts that anything was 'impossible.' After you see all the universes and possibilities that I have, you realize that anything could happen, and nothing is sacred or veritable. Now I understand you hold 'Goku' in high regard, so I will ask you, for argument sake, to imagine such a scenario where Goku is not the hero…what do you do then?"

Bulma once again contemplated the young man's words. To her, it seemed like nothing more than him changing the subject, but as a scientist, the question intrigued her as she imagined a scenario where the young man she grew up with was the enemy. It made her chuckle a couple times as she tried her best to envision Goku as a ruthless tyrant, but it just didn't fit with the Goku she knew. In the end she replied, "I guess, the others would band together and they would fight Goku until he was taken down. I'm sure Vegeta and Gohan could probably take him down, if they work together."

"A noble answer that works for this universe," conceded Ryoko. "However, not all universes are lucky enough to have strong enough fighters they can call, if their main protector turns against them. Take away my powers and open the channels to your mind, as people of science and engineering magnificent machinery, what would 'you' do, if Vegeta or my father didn't exist? Would you just sit back and let Goku take over, or would you try to defeat him yourself using the wonderful brains we got?"

Bulma began to see how this tied with their original conversation. In the end, she saw that Ryoko was trying to connect this example as a way to justify the creation of the gun. "I would try to reason with him. I wouldn't just create something like that," she said while pointing at the remains.

"There are times where reasoning will do you no good. Some people may be too far gone and nothing can save them. And then there are those that call themselves immortals. Beings that are thought to be impossible to kill, but while it is harder to actually do it, 'nothing is impossible.' That is the purpose of this gun," he countered. "No matter how strong a person is, this gun has the ability to look at a person's internal make-up, or their DNA, and tear them apart from the inside. It isolates the strands and rips them apart without letting them reform or regenerate.

"My final latest version, which Dekaido has, had the ability to scan an enemy and delete them in a matter of minutes, faster if the gun has your DNA in its database. Which leads me to my reason of frustration; this is nothing more than a simple prototype that barely works," Ryoko growly revealed as he pointed at the remains on the table.

"Wait I don't understand?" Bulma replied. "Isn't it a good thing that Dekaido wasn't using your current version?"

"It's great that he is not using it, but it just doesn't fit with Dekaido's actions." Upon seeing Bulma's confused expression, Ryoko decided to elaborate a little more on Dekaido. "You see, I have known Dekaido for a long time. I know that he is a very cautious person that likes to take his time and predict each and everyone's action, to better fit with his plans. By predicting possible scenarios and creating counters for these scenarios, he hopes to curb the rate of failure and increase his chances of success, but even he has his limits of patience. It's been too long and far too quiet from his side, and I know he has not left this timeline because my gauntlet has yet to react to any openings from his. And then we have the first encounter with his forces; nothing from that fight made sense."

Ryoko watched as Bulma tried to follow his words but didn't seem to understand what he was alluding to. "Sorry, I guess I'm not making any sense either."

"No, I understood that Dekaido is patient, but what is so confusing about the first fight with the green skinned aliens?" asked the blue-haired genius.

"For one second, let's imagine we are in his shoes making the decisions to kill my father; that is our primary goal. We have an army and weapons at our beck and call. We are also very cautions and like to be right the first time, and this in a new environment where we have no knowledge of. What might be your first action?" the Gi wearing fighter from the future sunk into his chair as he let Bulma mull over his words.

The Capsule Corp heiress pulled another chair and crossed her legs as she attempted to answer the question. "Well, I guess I would try to send a group for surveillance. If I'm trying to get it right the first time and I didn't know anything about Earth, then I would like to collect as many variables, from atmosphere composition to social norms, to make sure I get a good first shot…"

Ryoko waved his hand. "Putting aside the scientific variables, and focus on the mission. But you are right; a surveillance team would be an ideal first move. So, moving on with our analysis, the next move was to send a few with the prototype rather than the finished product…why?"

After a few minutes Bulma eye's shot open as she shouted, "To test Gohan's power and protection! He wasn't aiming to win; Dekaido was only probing Gohan to see his power!"

"That is what I came up with as well," Ryoko agreed with a small shrug. "But here is where it gets confusing and I begin to question Dekaido's decision making; while it is true that I would have sent a few men knowing they were probably going to fail, with a weapon that wasn't made to actually succeed, he sent an army of thousands of soldiers behind a defective weapon. For a person that actively is trying to make counters for all possible scenarios, that was very sloppy of him to actually lose so many soldiers in a mission he knew was going to be unsuccessful from the beginning. I've looked at this weapon over and over in the hopes that I would learn some new addition he could have done in the last six months that might have given me a valid reason for sending an army, but nothing has been added! It's the same gun just reproduced with the same defects. It just doesn't make sense and so out-of-character for him. Finally we have this extended silence. He got the title of destroyer back home because he would lay ruins any place he set his eyes on, but we haven't heard a single thing. I just don't know what he is waiting for, and honestly it is making even me a little paranoid," he admitted in the end.

Before Bulma got a chance to respond, both occupants of the room turned to the hyper active demi-Saiyan rushing inside while screaming for Bulma. "Mom! Mom!" shouted Trunks.

"Trunks!" Bulma acknowledged the screaming child. "What is it?"

"It's on the news," blurted the lilac-haired boy. "They stopped my show for a report about a city being destroyed as we speak. I think it might be related to the enemy."

Bulma opened a drawer close by and fumbled a little until she located a remote controller for the 'television' in the lab; mostly it was a projector that could display schematics and other programs to help her or one of her employees, but it also had the ability to tune into the local TV stations. After a few seconds of fretting with the remote, Bulma managed to locate a new stations that was delivering a report in front of a burning town and large explosions taking place in the background.

The nervous and shaken reporter continued her long-winded speech as she let the people at home know of the events taking place behind her. "—relentless! There is still no official word as to what is the cause, but eyewitnesses I have been able to speak with, state that there is a group of scaly humanoids setting of the explosions and terrorizing South City! We are just getting word that King Furry has deployed his royal army to suppress this threat, but will they get here in time save anything?!"

A few meters behind the reporter landed one of these scaly humanoids she spoke of. His skin was yellow and he wore baggy clothes resembling that of robe. He lifted one hand and a small ball of Ki began to form in the direction of the reporter, who was still oblivious to the danger behind her. The cameraman called out to her, but it was too late as the large Ki sphere incinerated everything in its path, including the news crew.

"RIKA!" yelled out one of the anchorman, when the image went from the blank transmission to the two in-studios. "Rika Tamiya! If you are still there please answer us!" The shocked newsman awaited for any sign of their field correspondent, but after a few minutes of silence he slowly sunk back into his chair. His female co-anchor was doing a better job of maintaining calm and did her best to address the current situation as professionally as she could. "We will continue trying to locate our Rika Tamiya and have high hopes that there is just probably an interference with our equipment."

Ryoko rolled over to another table, where he had left the earpiece Rize gave him, and placed it over his ear. While fidgeting with the small piece of machinery, he called out to the tall red head to inform him of the situation.

"Explain to me once again why I have to cut wood for the firewood of everyone," asked the annoyed tailed Saiyan. He was currently trying to balance the stack of cut wood in his hands as he took another step towards the camp.

Rize, who by now had taken off the oversized royal armor leaving him in only black pants, a long sleeved purple shirt with a chainmail vest over it, and a small red shoulder cape, chuckled at his smaller companion's complaint. "Because you managed to piss off our father, and this is your punishment. Honestly I feel like father was much too lenient in his chastisement of the both of you."

"Yeah, well I don't see that Ice-jin witch here, so why am I only being punished," retorted Cerevak.

"Quit your bellyaching, I'm also doing the work and you don't see me complaining," Rize amusingly snorted. "Plus, while you are gathering firewood with me, Fuyu is serving her time in a different location. I just don't understand why you two can't just get along, at least for father's sake. I mean she is family after all."

"She is NOT my sister!" Cerevak bitterly exclaimed. "Ice-jins are nothing but backstabbing bastards. Did you know that they were responsible for the destruction of Planet Vegeta. Half of the Saiyan populations in my universe died by the hand of one Ice-jin, and the other Ice-jins aren't that good either. I'm wary of her because I have a feeling that Fuyu is no different from her race. How do you know that she is not a spy from Dekaido?"

Without missing a beat, the tall red pony-tailed man responded, "Because when I see her, I see a familiar face. I see the traits that carried on from our father that tells me she is one of us. And in response to what you said about Ice-jins, they may be all that you said, but she is not the same as those from your universe. You heard what Ryoko said."

"You're one to lecture me on pulling my punches. If I recall correctly, it was you that attacked Vegeta without a justified reason other than what happened in your universe," the tailed Saiyan remarked. "I don't see how what I'm doing is any different."

Rize narrowed his eyes. "That was a mistake I made, fueled by my anger for King Vegeta of my world and my ignorance of my new surroundings. I have learned my lesson and have restrained myself from attacking him, but you can't use the ignorance card since you heard what Ryoko said and yet you two still keep trying to kill one another.

Before their conversation could progress, Rize heard an incoming call on his earpiece. "Rize can you hear me?" the voice asked.

"Ah Ryoko, it has been days since I've heard from you. Is something the matter?" the tall demi-Saiyan inquired.

"I think I have something here; it seems that Dekaido may be on the move once again. At this moment South City is falling under the attack of an unknown group. I only got a second to see one of the assailants, but it was enough for me to see he looks off-worldly. The attacker looked like a serpent-like creature. I want you to inform our father at once and send a small group to put out these assailants. And Rize… tell whoever goes that they should be careful as it might be a trap."

"Very well," Rize acknowledged while gesturing for Cerevak to put down the cut logs. Once Rize was sure that the older brother had left the conversation, he turned to the confused tailed-Saiyan. "Let's go, we can pick this up later. Right now we might have out first lead on Dekaido."

Both Saiyans flew back to the campsite at full speed but were intercepted by Zene and Chika, who were on patrol, as they noticed their fast approach. After briefly letting them know about what Ryoko had said, all four set out to call everyone in the camp.

Within seconds, everyone at the camp had assembled at the center. Rize was quick to relay the whole message and even the warning.

"If what you are saying is true, then there is not a moment to lose. We must go take them down," Gohan affirmed after Rize was done speaking.

"I agree father, but you are to stay here. Before you interrupt me with your protest, I will remind you that those fiends are looking for you. As much as you might hate it, you will be safer here," countered Rize.

Gohan, however, was not going to just let this one go. "Part of our deal was that I could fight; only I needed someone watching my back. Therefore I can still go."

Rize shook his head. "The deal was that you could fight if that was the only option, like if we were surrounded." After seeing that his father was still willing to fight, the maroon-haired young man took the initiative to end the conversation. "Look father, every minute we spend arguing here is another minute those villains are destroying the city. For the time being I want Rem, Vasco and …Kyra to go." The tall man looked around a couple times but eventually asked a question that had being weighing on his mind. "Where is Vanee?" he asked after not seeing the dark blond haired boy.

Videl, who was visiting Pan, spoke up, "He and Erasa went to South City. Apparently there was some fashion show in the city today, so Vanee and Erasa happily went to check it out." There was fear in her eyes for the safety of her oldest friend, but after her talk with Pan, she came to learn that the warriors around her had the power to protect them. It was a shock to say the least, but it gave her at least a bit of comfort that Erasa was with Vanee. Videl just knew that Vanee would not let anything happen to his mother.

"Good, at least he is already there," Rize acknowledged.

"I'm going as well," announced the resident demi-Icejin. "I just need someone to point me in the direction of this South City, and I will bring HIFL to those that dared think they could attack father."

"I don't remember Rize saying your name, Ice-jin!" Cerevak venomously spat. "If she is going then so am I."

Rize placed his larger hand on Cerevak's shoulder. "If she chooses to go, then she can go. As for you, I think we still need that wood, so we will be finishing up our task. I don't think we need you two making a battlefield of the torn city."

Chika sighed as she said, "I guess I should go as well, since I'm one of the few that knows where South City is." She immediately took up to the air, followed by the others previously mentioned.

Fuyu turned at the last moment to give the tailed boy a small smirk before jetting after the other.

Cerevak took the insult and immediately tried to go after her, but Rize still had his hand on his shoulder. "When she get back here…oh hoho … I'm gonna tear her to pieces," he muttered with a raised fist in direction the others left.

Anyone with Saiyan genes in their bloodstream only sighed as they could perfectly hear the tailed boy's mummers.

***Line break***

The five children arrived at the burning city in a matter of minutes. When they got there, those that could sense Ki, noticed two other familiar Ki, aside from their brother. The billowing of the Namek's cape alerted the group of his location.

He floated with his arms crossed as he gazed down. "It's about time you lot got here," he growled.

"Says the person floating, not doing anything to help, right," Rem casually remarked with a small shrug.

"There really isn't much to do anymore. Krillin and that blond-haired brother of yours have been taking care of the group. They have been knocking the aliens out and rounding them up. These pitiful soldiers are barely worth the effort." Piccolo continued to search for any movement.

The bronze-clad female spoke up, "In any case, it is better that we also disperse and finish up this task." With that said, the five split in different directions looking for any remaining soldiers of Dekaido's army.

The Ice-jin followed the sounds of fighting to find the small monk battling a being that looked part snake with a humanoid appearance. The taller yellow-scaly creature wore long brown robes. It hissed as he threw yet another fist only to be evaded by the small monk by the smallest of margins.

Krillin laughed as he used his opponent extended arm to give him some leverage in delivering a swift kick to its jaw. "I can't remember the last time I actually fought and had full control of the fight."

Fuyu, on the other hand, could careless of Krillin's euphoria. She raised an arm, and with two fingers extended, they began to glow purple at the tips. Before Krillin had a moment to react, Fuyu blasted two small beams at the snake-like creature's cranium. The scaly soldier fell dead at the monk's feet.

Any sign of joy disappeared from Krillin's face as he looked down at the fallen opponent. When his eyes rose, they were met with the cold eyes of the Ice-jin. Her fingers were still raised and a small trail of smoke still emitted from them. The former bald fighter gulped as his mind raced back to the time when Frieza held the same position. It took him a few second, but he was able to shake the image of the Ice-jin emperor and focus solely on the daughter of Gohan.

"Why did you do that?" chastised Krillin. "You could have knocked him out. You didn't need to kill him."

Fuyu snarled before turning away from the monk and started walking away. "His goal was to hurt my father. Any person that threatens his life… has already forfeited theirs. Instead of playing around you should focus on ending this terror." The Ice-jin hybrid continued her destructive path of killing any scaly warrior she encountered, whether they were walking or knocked out.

"Even if they are villain, they don't deserve to be killed," yelled the short fighter at the retreating figure.

It seemed that Fuyu was not the only one that felt this way. Out of all Gohan's children, only Chika and Vanee refused to put down their opponents permanently. Not that is made a difference as Fuyu would eventually find them and take them out herself.

It didn't take long before the children of Gohan regrouped in the center of the desolated town. Not a single soul from the city remained but the heroes who liberated South City of the Dekaido plague.

"So it is finally safe," asked the shaken and slightly dusty Erasa. She had taken shelter in a nearby building while Vanee stood outside protecting the building from any attack. He may not be that much of a fighter, but he still retained the basic training his father made him undergo and used it to protect his mother's younger version.

"For the time being," Krya responded. She continued to look in all directions, as if await an ambush that never came.

"So much for the fashion show," Vanee lamented. He had been very excited to see it ever since his mother had mentioned it, but thanks to the untimely attack it was probably postponed, possible indefinitely.

The auburn-haired Rem scratched his head. "Was it just me or were those guys incredibly easy to beat?"

Piccolo's ears momentarily twitched before he spoke up, "It appears that the human army is approaching." His cape flicked as he turned and began to walk away. "We will have to continue this conversation elsewhere. For now, disperse in all directions, in order for the humans to not follow our trail, and meet back at the campsite."

The others were quick to heed Piccolo's words and blasted in different directions.

Fuyu cleared the final buildings at edge of the city and took off above the forest. Since she had no way of sensing energy, she relied on her memory and sense of direction to fly towards the campsite. However because she could not sense energies, she failed to see a shadow zooming through the forest below, following her.

AN: It appears that Dekaido is once again moving, but what are his plans this time? And how does this tie in with the mysterious figure at the end of the chapter. I will try to write the next chapter as soon as I can so it's still fresh in people's minds.

Also I wanted to note that Videl was in this chapter, but she was not being her overbearing self. It's not that I completely forgot how I wrote her before, but there was a scene that was written out of the chapter 'Introductions' where she and Pan have a conversation. The next Origins chapter will be Pan's story but because we all know her story, I was thinking of using that chapter to mainly get Videl on-board and up-to-speed with everyone else.

Let me know how this chapter came out.

Dear nancy103,

I'm glad you liked the chapter. Fuyu will be an great asset, but she will also cause some problems unknowingly.

Dear Lawrence Helmbain,

Honestly most of the other children come from other stories that are being developed right now. The only reason why I don't also publish them is because I'm trying to finish these two stories before I try tackling another series. I love some of the stories that are in development, and I can't wait to share them when I get the opportunity, but I have to finish these first. The one thing I will say is that 'Origins' do give some skeleton-plot points of those stories. I think at the end of Prime Objective I might ask the readers, which child's world/story would you like to see as the next series I tackle. Still we are some way before we get to that point.

Dear Smithback,

Thank you so much for the compliment. I tried my hardest to make it a point to show how vastly different the children are from one another. Each were taught different goal and values and we are seeing the fruits of those upbringings in this colossal crossover. Most times their home values clash with one another like in the case of Cerevak and Fuyu, but we also see it in how Kyra speaks about Gohan's physique, to her it's normal but it weird-out Rem cause he lives in a different society. Thank you for the review.

Dear Engineering of Epicness,

Hahaha I hadn't thought their tension could be taken in that direction, though I do see where you see that. Honestly they are the way they are because of their familial upbringings. Cerevak was taught that Ice-jins were not to be trusted, and Fuyu was taught to never back down and has a great disdain for those that think they can mock her family. It a perfect example of, 'Fireworks, I want you to meet matches.'

Dear Kitsunelover300,

I must firstly that I was greatly pleased and impressed with your analysis and long review. Moving on to your review:

I have been an avid fan of Gohan since I was a little kid and I'm glad you approve of my story. I also feel that there is a lot of wasted potential in Gohan, so that is why I focus on writing most of my stories about him and expanding him.

I tried my best to make each child distinguishable, and it makes me happy to hear that I succeeded. Pan at the end of GT, I believe, was only 12. Pan in this story is 15, so three years have passed since the battle with Omega Shenron. I'm not sure if she will mention the dragon ball though. While I do see her warning everyone about their overuse behind-the-scenes, I don't see a point to make a scene where she is telling everyone unless she is telling her life story or they are using the dragon balls. Still I will see if I can include that scene.

You were right in almost all your guesses for the children's mother. There is one or two that you got wrong, but I was impressed with all the guesses nevertheless.

You don't have to worry, Chika is not the offspring of Gohan and Chichi, though it made me laugh as I was writing her character because I knew people would think that exact thought. I haven't gotten their yet but you were right, Chika's mother is Chico (or the little orphan girl from the initial filler episodes. Though the name makes me laugh because in English Chico translates to boy.)

Cerevak is from Gohan and another Saiyan, but she was not from Planet Vegeta. I will get into her origin when Cerevak tells his story. Still it was a pretty good thought about the Goku plotline, it certainly made me raise an eyebrow.

I will also admit that you got the twin's mother right. At first I was a little confused about how you got to 18, but I'm glad you changed your answer. Lime is their mother.

I have not written yet a scene where Goten meets up with his various nieces and nephews, but it certainly a good idea I will have to implement. Plus you know that Trunks and Goten will certainly want to train with them.

All the Gohans have achieved SSJ2 and some have even gone beyond. Though not all of them got it through the Cell Saga. I know Fuyu's Gohan achieved through a different fight, as well as Ryoko and Rize. Rize's Gohan achieved his SSJ2 during a fight with King Vegeta. I'm not sure if I will bringing all those Gohan, as it might make it confusing to see so many Gohan and referring to each individual one would be a nightmare. Plus Ryoko currently doesn't have to power to breach the space and time barrier.

That last point about Rize's Gohan was something I had not thought about. In my mind, Goku had just returned to Earth, but technically Goku was coming back with a virus and without Vegeta, Trunk was never born to return back in time to deliver the medicine. In a sense Gohan did doom Earth.

However let me see if I can fix the timeline without Trunks or Gohan. I guess it could be stated that upon Goku's return, Chichi tried to get the dragon to call back Gohan, but he refused. Goku could have seen Gohan's voyage as training, and since he clearly thinks about training above all else, he might have not gone after Gohan. Instead this only focuses him more on his own training for the fight he would have with Gohan or Vegeta, if they ever came back to Earth. The virus could have affected Goku, and he might have even died in one timeline, but a future person came in the form of Bulma. Instead of Trunks, Bulma hid in the underground chambers of CC to build the time machine to go back and save Goku. That could have brought back Cell like in canon, but instead of Gohan killing him, Goku and the others had to take charge. Goku would have primary trained himself the full time in the chamber in order to protect Earth, and he wouldn't have relied on someone else like canon Goku did with Gohan during the Cell Saga.

If that explanation didn't work, then probably what you were saying happened. Gohan's actions may have inadvertently caused Earth's destruction. At least it gave us Rize.
