"Victor and Gloria had started their journey through Glimwood Tangle, when they meet Impidimp, whose pranks hid a valuable heart, but with Gloria as its Trainer, Impidimp learns to open up more. And now, Victor's ready for his fifth Gym Badge, except…"

"Missed Opportunities and Lost Chances"

At the Ballonlea Stadium, Victor and Gloria are standing in front of a front counter, as a friendly gym trainer smiles, "Sorry but there won't be any Gym Challenges today."

"Th-There won't be?" Victor asks, surprised.

"Unfortunately, the Gym Leader is away from town," she continues. "She should be back tomorrow."

Victor sighs, "And after we came straight here from the Pokémon Center."

"It couldn't be helped," Gloria says, with a sweatdrop, before she suddenly digs into her backpack. "Oh, I almost forgot."

Gloria pulls out an old envelope.

Paula holds up an envelope to Gloria, "Can you deliver this letter to a boy I like, named Frank?"

Gloria holds up the envelope and looks over to Victor, "Since you can't challenge the Gym just yet, we could deliver the letter that girl gave me."

Victor looks over to her and nods his head, "Yeah, sure."

Victor and Gloria stand in front of a house.

"You're sure this is the place?" Victor asks.

"The Pokémon Center's nurse said there's only one Frank in town and he lives here," Gloria says, before she approaches the door and knocks.

After a couple seconds, the door opens with Victor and Gloria surprised to see an older man.

"May I help you with something?" the man asks.

"W-We looking for Frank," Victor says.

"You found him. I'm Frank."

Gloria holds up the envelope, "I have a letter, from a girl named Paula."

"Paula? I hadn't heard that name in years," Frank says. "Not since I was a kid."

"...When you were a kid?!" Victor and Gloria respond.

Shortly later, Victor and Gloria are seated inside the house, across from Frank.

"So Paula was a little girl I met in Motostoke not too long ago," Gloria explains.

"Perhaps she's a relative of the same Paula that Frank knew," Victor suggests, with Gloria looking at him.

"From your description, she would be an exact duplicate of the Paula I knew," Frank says, before he crosses his arms. "This makes no sense."

Looking in through a window is a wild Shiinotic, "Notic." Shiinotic lowers its head, as powder starts to float from the top of its head and through a crack beneath the window. "Notic."

The powder starts to reach Victor, Gloria, and Frank, with Victor yawning, followed by Gloria. Victor and Gloria start to fall asleep, leaning against each other's shoulder. Frank yawns, leans to the side, and falls off his chair. The three are quickly sleeping, with Shiinotic watching them.

"Notic."

Victor and Gloria slowly wake up from lying on the ground.

"Oh my head," Gloria says, as she looks up and looks around, realizing she is on a sidewalk. "Wait. Where are we?"

Victor stands up, "This is… Motostoke?"

Victor starts to help Gloria up, "Did a Pokémon used Teleport on us?"

"I-I don't think so," Victor says, before he looks around.

Suddenly a newspaper flies onto Victor's face, with him quickly pulling it off, as Gloria holds back her laughter.

"A paper newspaper that's old fashion," Gloria says, as Victor looks at the newspaper.

"What in the…?" Victor says.

"Victor, it's just a newspaper," Gloria walks over to him.

"No, look," Victor holds the newspaper up to her. "The year."

Gloria looks at the newspaper, before taking it into her hands, "What?! This newspaper was published years ago. Before we were even born."

Victor looks around, noticing the clean buildings and the old style clothes people are wearing, "Did we travel through time?"

"That makes no sense, we were just sitting in Frank's house…" Gloria starts, before holding down the newspaper. "Wait, where's Frank?"

"Frank! Frank!"

Victor and Gloria look over to see a young girl is calling out across the street, "Frank!"

"That's Paula," Gloria realizes, with Victor looking over to her.

"Paula."

Victor and Gloria then see a boy, the same as Paula's age, running over to her.

Paula places her hands on her hip, as the boy catches his breath, "'Bout time you show up, Frank."

"Frank?!" Victor and Gloria call out.

"I-I'm sorry for being late, Paula," Frank finishes catching his breath.

"Mhm, I knew you would come," Paula grins. "Of course, I would never be late."

Paula and Frank then start to laugh.

Victor smiles, "They seemed to be very good friends."

"Yeah, but I still don't get what's going on here," Gloria says. "Are we seeing the past somehow?"

"What?!"

Victor and Gloria are startled, when they realize Paula is yelling.

"Your family is moving to Ballonlea?!" Paula yells.

"Yeah, but we can still be friends," Frank says. "We could even exchange letters."

"That… That's not good enough!" Paula says, with tears in her eyes, before spins around and runs off.

"Paula…" Frank says, as he watches her run off.

Gloria watches as Paula runs away, before starting to run after her, with Victor following along.

"Gloria," Victor says, in midrun.

"Whatever is going on, it has something to do with Paula," Gloria says, as she continues to run. "We need to follow her."

Victor nods his head, "Right."

Paula continues to run nonstop, teary eyes, "Frank is so stupid… I hate him… I…"

Paula trips and falls down, crying.

Several feet behind, Victor and Gloria catch up.

Victor looks around, "Paula ran all the way to the Wild Area?"

"Excuse me, are you okay?" Gloria slowly approaches the crying Paula. "Paula?"

Paula doesn't respond, keeps on crying.

"If we are only seeing the past, then she might not be able to hear us," Victor realizes, before sighing. "I just wish there something we could do to help."

Gloria continues to watch Paula, and whispers, "Maybe there is…"

Gloria suddenly turns around and runs back to Motostoke, with Victor watching.

Frank is walking through Motostoke, with a sad expression, as he mumbles, "Paula…"

Gloria runs around a corner and sees Frank, before running over to him, "Frank. Listen, Frank, I can take you to Paula. The two of you could talk…"

Frank watches past Gloria, unresponsive.

Gloria watches Frank as he walks past her, with she sighs, "Great, now I feel like a ghost."

Gloria suddenly shakes at the thought, before she quickly shakes her head and hurries back to Frank.

"Frank, you need to hear me," Gloria says. "Frank."

Frank continues to walk, his eyes seem dull.

"Frank…" Gloria starts. "If you don't go now, then you might never see Paula again!"

Frank stops walking, with some life returning to his eyes, "Paula?" He turns to Gloria. "You can take me to Paula?"

Gloria is surprised, before she smiles, "You betcha. Come on."

Gloria starts to lead Frank away, through Motostoke, and out into the Wild Area, where Victor is standing next to the crying Paula.

Victor sees Gloria walking up to him, "How did you get Frank to come?"

"I'm not sure," Gloria says, as she watches Frank approach the crying Paula. "I think I just… reached his heart…"

"Paula…"

Paula turns to look at Frank, still crying, "Frank…"

"I'm sorry, but I don't have a choice about moving," Frank says, looking down, before he looks at her. "But I really want to remain your friend."

"I-I… I'm afraid… you will forget… about me…" Paula says.

Frank smiles, "I will never forget you. You're my friend."

Paula wipes away some of her tears, and smiles.

"Dreep."

The group look to the side to see a wild Dreepy floats over to the children.

"A… Dreepy?" Paula realizes.

"Dreep," Dreepy nods it head against Paula.

Paula and Frank smile, as Paula hugs the Dreepy.

Gloria's Rotom Phone flies up, yawns before continuing, "Dreepy, the Lingering Pokémon, After being reborn as a ghost Pokémon, Dreepy wanders the areas it used to inhabit back when it was alive in prehistoric seas."

Paula hugs Frank and Dreepy, both who return the hug.

Victor and Gloria smile at the scene, before a bright light covers the entire area.

Victor and Gloria start to wake up, next to each other, before noticing each other and blush.

Frank pushes himself off the ground.

"Hum, what just happened?" Victor asks.

"Was it all a dream?" Gloria wonders.

"I remembered telling Paula that I had to move and she ran away upset," Frank says, as he sits in his chair. "But that was the last I saw of her. I didn't even see her when my family got on the train. But…"

"But?" Gloria asks.

Frank looks over to them, "I actually feel like that we made up."

Gloria smiles, before realizing, "You never opened the letter."

Frank picks up the old envelope, opens it, pulls it out and starts reading.

Gloria watches as Frank gets sadden, "Frank?"

"Apparently, Paula was so upset with me moving, that she ran into the Wild Area and caught a terrible cold," Frank explains. "A wild Dreepy brought her back to town. Paula's too sick to say goodbye. She apologizes, and she hopes that I will receive her letter…"

"Then the reason Paula never sent her letter," Victor realizes, as he looks over to Gloria. "Because she never recovered from her cold."

Gloria looks down, saddened, before noticing Frank is crying.

"Dreep."

They all get up and turn to see a Dreepy floats through the wall, entering the house.

"A Dreepy?" Victor realizes.

"Wait a minute," Frank starts. "Are you the same Dreepy from the dream?"

Gloria takes the letter, looking at it for a moment, "And the same Dreepy Paula mentioned in her letter."

"Dreep…" Dreepy approaches them, with tears in its eyes.

Frank knees next to Dreepy, "You also were her friend, were you? And you missed her too?"

"Dreep, Dreep," Dreepy nods its head.

"I missed her too, more than I ever realized," Frank says. "But we can be there for each other."

"Dreep, Dreep," Dreepy happily says, before it and Frank hug.

Victor and Gloria watch as the two hug, unaware that outside a window, the wild Shiinotic is watching them.

"Notic."

Shiinotic turns away from the window and sees Paula. Paula smiles, before she fades away, with tears flying away.

"Friendship is a bond that transcends time and space, true friendship never fades. With these lessons in their hearts, what could be next for our heroes?"

"Find out, as the journey continues…"
