"Victor had won his final Gym Badge. But before he has a chance to celebrate, Chairman Rose puts his plan into motion, triggering a second Darkest Day. With Pokémon Dynamaxing and running wild around Galar, Leon and Hop go to confront the Chairman, as Victor and Gloria join Sonia to Slumbering Weald…"
"Legendary Kings"
Corviknight is carrying the taxi cab holding Victor, Gloria, and Sonia high over the Wild Area.
Gloria looks outside the cab's window, before turning to Sonia, "Why are we going to Slumbering Weald, Sonia?"
"My research implied that the Pokémon of the legendary kings went to sleep in the Slumbering Weald," Sonia explains.
"The Pokémon of the legendary kings," Victor whispers.
"I'm hoping that by going there, it could bring us answers on how to stop the Darkest Day," Sonia continues.
"And you brought us along because we saw the Pokémon," Gloria realizes.
Sonia nods her head, "That's right."
Victor looks out the cab's window, "We are nearing the entrance to Slumbering Weald." He turns to his friends. "But the treetop is too thick, there's no way Corviknight could land inside."
"That's okay, we could walk the rest of the way," Sonia says. "But we must hurry."
Corviknight lands the cab outside the Slumbering Weald, with Victor, Gloria, and Sonia exiting.
Victor turns and holds out a Poké Ball, "Good job, Corviknight. Thanks a lot."
"Knigh!" Corviknight calls out, before turning into red energy and flies into the Poké Ball.
"Let's go," Sonia says, before the three turn and run into Slumbering Weald.
"I just remember, when we were here, we got lost and fainted," Gloria says, midrun.
"We have no choice but to risk it," Sonia says, as she leads her friends deep into Slumbering Weald.
The door to the Energy Plant is blasted off its hinges, before Charizard flies in.
"Char!"
Leon and Hop enter next to Charizard.
"Good job, Charizard," Leon says, before looking ahead to see Oleana standing in front of the reactor.
"I hope you're planning on paying for that door," Oleana says.
"Oleana, where's Rose?" Leon asks.
"The Chairman is busy and can't be disturbed," Oleana says. "You have to leave."
"We aren't going anywhere," Leon says. "Whatever Rose is doing, he must stop it."
"Like I said, the Chairman is busy," Oleana says, holding up a Poké Ball.
"She's a Trainer?" Hop says.
"Of course I am," Oleana says, before throwing the Poké Ball. "Go, Garbodor!"
"Garb! Garb!"
"Listen Oleana, what Rose's doing is endangering all of Galar," Leon says. "He has to stop."
"Chairman Rose is a genius, he will save Galar," Oleana says, with a smile, before looking ahead, with a determined expression. "And I won't let anyone get in his way."
"Then I'm left with no choice," Leon says, before holding a hand. "Charizard…"
"Char!"
"Hold on, I will handle this," Hop says, with Leon and Charizard looking at him, surprised.
Hop throws a Poké Ball, "Me and my partner, Rillaboom!"
"Rilla! Boom!" Rillaboom takes its drum from its back and slams it in front of them, before taking the drumsticks from its cuffs and drums with them. "Rilla! Boom!"
"Hop?" Leon looks at his brother.
"Besides I was itching to battle with Rillaboom after it had evolved," Hop says, before holding out an arm. "So, go ahead, big bro, we got this."
"Right, I'll leave this to you," Leon nods his head.
"Tch," Oleana crosses her arms. "Garbodor, Rock Blast!"
"Garb!" Garbodor holds up large rocks, before throwing two rocks. "Garb!"
"Rillaboom, dodge them!" Hop instructs.
"Rilla!" Rillaboom picks up its drum and places it on its back, before runs to the side, dodging a rock, then runs to the other side, dodging the other. "Boom!"
"Now, Stomping Tantrum!" Oleana calls out.
"Garb! Garb!" Grabodor charges ahead and swings with its arm, striking Rillaboom hard, before striking it with its other arm, knocking Rillaboom back.
"Rilla! Boom!"
Leon looks over to the side to see an elevator door, "The only place Rose could be is on the roof. Let's go, Charizard."
"Char!"
Leon and Charizard hurry toward the elevator door.
"You need to make an appointment to see the Chairman!" Oleana holds out an arm. "Garbodor, Gunk Shot!"
"Garb!" Garbodor swings its arm, launching a glob of acid.
"Rillaboom, block with Double Hit!" Hop calls out.
"Rilla!" Rillaboom stands out in between Leon and Charizard and the glob of acid. "Boom!" Rillaboom swings its drumsticks twice to knock away the glob of acid.
"Tch," Oleana says.
Leon and Charizard stand in the elevator, as the door closes, "Good job, Hop."
Hop nods his head and looks back to Oleana.
"Your interference will not stand," Oleana says, as she places a Dynamax Band on her wrist, before holding out a Poké Ball.
Garbodor turns into red energy and flies into Oleana's Poké Ball, with a giant red Poké Ball forms around it, before she turns away and throws it, "Garbodor, Gigantamax!"
The Poké Ball opens and shoots out Garbodor, who grows in size, with several objects popping out of its body and its right arm growing even bigger, "Garb!"
"You want to go big, we can go big," Hop says, before holding out a Poké Ball. "Rillaboom!"
Rillaboom turns into red energy and flies into the Poké Ball, with a giant red Poké Ball forms around it, before Hop turns away and throws it, "Dynamax!"
The Poké Ball opens and shoots out Rillaboom, who grows in size and turns giant, as it sets its drum onto the ground, "Rilla! Boom!"
"Enough of this, Garbodor, G-Max Malodor!" Oleana calls out.
"Garb!" Garbodor yells, as a puddle of dirty water surrounds it, before geysers of dirty water shoot out, blasting Rillaboom.
"Rilla!"
"Rillaboom!" Hop calls out, as his Pokémon looks down at it. "Are you okay?"
"Rilla," Rillaboom nods its head.
"Awesome, then let's go all out," Hop punches the air.
Rilla! Boom!"
Victor, Gloria, and Sonia are walking through Slumbering Weald, looking around.
"Hold on," Sonia says, as the group stops. "I-I think we are going in circles."
Victor and Gloria look around, before quick blue and red glows surround them for a second.
"Victor…?" Gloria looks at her friend.
"Yeah, I sense it too," Victor nods his head.
"Sense what?" Sonia asks.
Victor and Gloria nod their heads and look at Sonia.
"We think we know the way," Gloria says.
"Okay…" Sonia says.
After a few seconds, Victor, Gloria, and Sonia run through the thick forest, before coming across a large altar, with a rusted sword and a rusted shield lying on top.
"Incredible," Sonia says. "Is this the final resting place of Legendary King Pokémon?"
"No it's not!"
Victor, Gloria, and Sonia turn to see Sordward and Shielbert catching their breaths.
"The Legendary King is our ancestor…" Sordward says.
"Not some Pokémon that no one heard about before your lies," Shielbert says.
"I didn't lie!" Sonia yells.
"How did you two even find this place?" Gloria asks.
"We got lost dozens of times, no fault to us," Shielbert says, crossing his arms.
"Until we heard your pointless chatter," Sordward says, crossing his arms.
Gloria sighs, "We don't have time for this."
"You have plenty of time to lose," Sordward throws a Poké Ball.
Bis! Shar!" Bisharp calls out.
"Although you will still lose fast," Shielbert throws a Poké Ball.
Klin-Klan!" Klinklang calls out.
"We have no choice," Victor says, holding up a Poké Ball.
"Right," Gloria says, holding up a Poké Ball.
"Go, Silicobra!"
"Go, Sirfetch'd!"
"Sili."
"Sir! Fetch!"
"Bisharp, Night Slash!" Sordward calls out.
"Klinklang, Wild Charge!" Shielbert calls out.
"Silicobra, Brutal Swing!" Victor calls out.
"Sirfetch'd, Iron Defense!" Gloria calls out.
"Bis! Shar!" Bisharp charges ahead, with its claw covered in dark energy.
"Sili!" Silicobra swings its tail.
Bisharp's claw and Silicobra's tail collide.
"Klin-Klan!" Klinklang flies ahead, surrounded by electricity.
"Sir! Fetch!" Sirfetch'd holds up its leaf shield, as it turns silver.
Klinklang collides against Sirfetch'd's shield.
Unknown to anyone, ghostly images of the legendary Pokémon appear behind the altar, watching them.
On the roof of the Energy Plant, the tower summit, the roof access opens, with Leon and Charizard coming out. They see Rose looking out at the distance.
"Rose!" Leon calls out.
"The time has come," Rose says. "I will save Galar from its energy crisis. The energy's generating is already immense and it continues to grow with each passing second. I don't even have to add any more Wishing Stars."
"The Darkness Day…" Leon starts.
"Is just a minor issue," Rose interrupts.
"You are wrong, Rose," Leon says. "You are endangering everyone in Galar!"
Rose spins around, "No! You're the one in the wrong. And you won't stand in my way!" Rose throws a Poké Ball. "Go, Copperajah!"
"Rajah!"
"Heavy Slam!" Rose calls out.
"Rajah!" Copperajah rushes ahead, swinging its trunk.
"Charizard, Fire Blast!" Leon calls out.
"Char!" Charizard fires a large blast of fire, which turns into a flaming kanji.
"Rajah!" Copperajah collides with the flaming kanji, before blowing through it, with some scorch marks on its trunk. "Rajah!"
"Char!" Charizard flies up, dodging Copperajah's charge.
"Now, Air Slash!" Leon shouts.
"Char!" Charizard flaps its wing, launching a slice of air, which collides with Copperajah.
"Rajah!"
"Zen Headbutt!" Rose calls out.
"Rajah!" Copperajah jumps up, as the top of its head glows pink, before headbutting Charizard.
"Char!" Charizard lands hard on the ground, as Copperajah lands several feet away.
"I never knew you were so strong, Rose, this might even be fun if…" Leon starts.
"That's all you care about," Rose interrupts. "Battling and having fun… all the while Galar is facing an energy crisis."
"Which might not become a real problem for a thousand years," Leon says. "We've been through this already, Rose. We can't worry about some distant future that might never come to be. We have to focus on the present."
"You just don't understand, but I will make you understand!" Rose pulls down his sleeve, revealing a Dynamax Band, before holding out a Poké Ball. "Copperajah!"
Copperajah turns into red energy and flies into Rose's Poké Ball, with a giant red Poké Ball forms around it, before turning and throwing the Poké Ball, "Gigantamaxes!"
The Poké Ball opens, shooting out Copperajah, who stands on its hind legs, as its trunk grows larger and its body becomes block-like, "Rajah!"
"I'm gonna defeat the unbeatable Champion!" Rose calls out. "And save all of Galar!"
"Iron Head!" Sordward calls out.
"Bis! Shar!" Bisharp charges ahead, as its head turns silver.
"Silicobra, Dig!" Victor calls out.
"Sili!" Silicobra dives into the ground, as Bisharp charges over it.
"Bis!" Bisharp turns, when suddenly, Silicobra bursts out of the ground, slamming against Bisharp. "Shar!"
"Now, Brutal Swing!" Victor instructs.
"Sili!" Silicobra spins and swings its tail, knocking Bisharp to the side.
"Bisharp!" Sordward yells.
"Enough, Klinklang, use Gear Grind!" Shielbert instructs.
"Klin-Klan!" Klinklang calls out, as it shoots out two gears.
"Sirfetch'd, knock them away with Rock Smash!" Gloria instructs.
"Sir! Fetch!" Sirfetch'd runs ahead, swings its leek to smash one of the flying gears, before swinging it again to smash the other gear. "Sir! Fetch!" Sirfetch'd continues to run toward Klinklang.
"Now, Fury Cutter!" Gloria calls out.
"Sir! Fetch!" Sirfetch'd swings its leek back and forth, striking Klinklang repeatedly, before knocking it back.
Klinklang falls down next to Bisharp, both of their eyes glowing.
"Klinklang!" Shielbert calls out.
"This was just a setback!" Sordward yells.
"Yeah, we shall reveal the truth, as the descendants of the true legendary king!" Shielbert yells.
"Enough!" Gloria yells, stunning Sordward and Shielbert. "What kind of a king, or kings, would neglect others, who're in need, to settle their own petty issues!"
"I…" Sordward stutters.
"Well…" Shielbert stutters.
"Look at the sky recently?" Gloria asks. "All of Galar could be falling apart, and all you care about are yourselves. Some king descendants."
Sordward and Shielbert look at each other, nervous.
Victor looks to the side to see Sonia is studying the altar.
"Sonia, have you found anything?" Victor asks, as he approaches.
"Not sure," Sonia says, before running her fingers across some text. "But I think I can decipher the text. This reads 'Zacian' and this is 'Zamazenta… They're the names of the Pokémon."
"Zacian…" Victor says.
"Zamazenta…" Gloria says, as she stands next to Victor.
"There's also this," Sonia says, looking at the top of the atlar. "An old sword and an old shield."
Victor picks up the rusted sword, and Gloria picks up the rusted shield.
"I wonder if these are the sword and shield of the legendary king?" Gloria asks.
"Maybe," Victor says.
Sonia backs away from the altar, sighing, "I don't think there is anything left here." She looks to her friends. "We should get back to Hammerlocke."
"Right," Victor says, as Gloria looks away.
"Hey, Sordward and Shielbert are gone!" Gloria realizes.
"We don't have time to worry about them," Sonia says.
Victor and Gloria recall Silicobra and Sirfetch'd to their Poké Balls, as they and Sonia rush back into the thick forest.
At the same time, ghostly images of Zacian and Zamazenta watch them from beyond the altar.
"Max Quake!" Oleana calls out.
"Garb!" Garbodor calls out, as it slams its left arm down, shaking the ground, as it cracks up.
"Rilla!" Rillaboom has trouble keeping its footing as it starts to fall and uses its drum to hold itself up.
"Now, Max Rockfall!" Oleana continues.
"Garb!" Garbodor slams its left arm down again, as a giant rock slab rises up.
"That brings back some memories," Hop smiles. "And it's our chance. Rillaboom, stop that Max Rockfall!"
"Rilla! Boom!" Rillaboom charges, leaving its drum behind, as it slams its hands against the rock slab, preventing it from falling.
"What?!" Oleana calls out.
"Now, Max Overgrowth!" Hop calls out.
"Rilla!" Rillaboom pulls one of its drumsticks out of its cuff and turns slightly to hit it against its drum. "Boom!"
The drum glows and shoots out three seeds, which flies over the rock slab and lands around Garbodor before exploding.
"Alright!" Hop snaps his fingers. "I came up with this idea after my gym battle with Milo, remembering an incident with Max Rockfall in the Wild Area."
"I don't care," Oleana says. "This isn't some game!"
"I know, but if it was a game, then this is game over," Hop says. "Rillaboom, push with all of your might!"
"What?!" Oleana responds.
"Rilla! Boom!" Rillaboom, with both of its hands, pushes the rock slab, which falls backward and onto Garbodor, as a large explosion goes off.
Oleana holds up her hands, before she is knocked back by the explosion.
Rillaboom finishes glowing as it returns to normal, "Rilla! Boom!"
"Good job, Rillaboom," Hop says. "Now let's join my big brother."
"Rilla," Rillaboom nods its head, before placing its drum on its back and runs with Hop toward the elevator.
"Garb…" Garbodor's eyes are whirling.
Oleana watches them running, with a hand to her shoulder, "Chairman…"
"Char!" Charizard, in midair, shoots a blast of fire, which turns into a giant kanji and slams against Copperajah.
"Rajah!"
"Are you gonna Gigantamax?" Rose asks. "Or do you know I'm in the right, and you're not giving your all."
"Not at all," Leon says, shaking his head. "But I've been battling long enough to know there's a time and moment for Dynamaxing. And it's not necessary, just yet."
"Very well, it just makes my victory easier, G-Max Steelsurge!" Rose holds out an arm.
"Rajah!" Cooperajah calls out, lifting its tusk, as a row of giant spikes burst out of the ground and toward Charizard.
"Charizard, fly back and use Solar Beam!" Leon instructs.
"Char!" Charizard starts flying backward, as energy gathers in its mouth and the giant spikes burst toward it. "Char!" Charizard fires a massive blast from its mouth, blowing through the giant spikes and right at Copperajah.
"Rajah!"
"You can't win without your full strength!" Rose calls out.
"If you pay more attention to the Gym Battles that have been going on in this League season, then you know," Leon starts. "A Pokémon doesn't have to be Dynamaxed to show off its full strength."
"What?!" Rose yells.
"Charizard, use Fire Blast, at close range!" Leon calls out, as Charizard flies ahead.
"Char!" Right in front of Copperajah, Charizard fires a large blast of fire, which forms a giant kanji and explodes against Copperajah.
"Rajah!" Copperajah yells, as Charizard lands several feet in front of it.
The elevator door opens, with Hop and Rillaboom rushing out.
"Leon!" Hop calls out.
"Hop?" Leon turns to see his brother.
Suddenly the entire tower summit glows, before shooting out of the ground from glowing energy is Eternatus, who bashes back Copperajah.
"Rajah!" Copperajah falls onto its side, as it glows and shrinks back to its normal size and appearance.
Copperajah turns into red energy and flies into Rose's Poké Ball, as Rose, Leon, Hop, Charizard, and Rillaboom look up at Eternatus, who turns to look at them.
"What is that?!" Hop calls out.
"It's what I've been searching for," Rose says. "The key to save Galar."
"Eterna!" Eternatus calls out, before firing a large blast of fire.
"Char!" Charizard calls out, before flying in front of Leon, Hop, and Rillaboom, while getting blasted by the blast of fire. "Char!"
"Charizard!" Leon yells.
Corviknight, carrying the taxi cab, is flying toward the tower summit.
"Is that a Pokémon?!" Gloria calls out.
"Eterna!" Eternatus' core gives a bright glow, before firing a massive blast.
The blast hits Charizard and Rillaboom, blasting them far back with the wind from the attack also knocks Leon and Hop back, with them slamming against the roof access.
The cab lands, with Victor, Gloria, and Sonia coming out, as Victor recalls Corviknight to its Poké Ball, before they rush to the others.
"Leon!" Sonia calls out.
"Hop!" Gloria calls out.
"Are you all okay?" Victor asks.
"A-okay," Leon holds up a thumb, as he seats up. "But I've never seen a Pokémon like this before."
"It's Eternatus," Rose says, as he stands off to the side. "Its power is eternal. There's no name more proper than that."
"Its power is eternal? Where did it even come from?" Sonia asks.
"It emerged from beneath the Energy Plant," Leon says.
"The Energy Plant?" Sonia asks, before a beep distracts her and she pulls out her energy detector. "No way. That thing, Eternatus, is generating unbelievable levels of Dynamax energy." She looks ahead. "Could Eternatus be the source of Dynamaxing?"
"Eterna!" Eternatus roars loudly.
"It looks like Eternatus is still prime for a battle," Hop says.
"Char…"
"Rilla…"
"Unfortunately, Charizard and Rillaboom seemed spent, not surprising since they just fought Garbodor and Copperajah…" Leon says, as he tries to get up. "In fact, I think I'm spent too."
Victor and Gloria look at each other and nod their heads. They then stand in front of Leon, Hop, Charizard and Rillaboom.
"We will handle this now," Gloria says.
"Right," Victor adds.
Victor throws a Poké Ball, "Go, Cinderace!"
Gloria throws a Poké Ball, "Go, Inteleon!"
"Cinder, Ace!"
"Intel!"
"Eterna!" Eternatus starts shooting a large blast of fire.
"Inteleon, counter Flamethrower with Water Pulse!" Gloria calls out.
"Intel!" Inteleon waves around its hands, before launching a pulsing blast of water.
The blast of fire and pulsing blast of water collide, creating an explosion of steam.
"Cinder! Ace!" Cinderace jumps through the steam.
"Cinderace, Double Kick!" Victor calls out.
"Cinder! Ace!" Cinderace launches a kick.
"Eterna!" Eternatus' claws glow a sickly purple, before strikes with one claw, colliding with Cinderace's kick.
"Cinder! Ace!" Cinderace spins around and delivers another kick, which collides with another of Eternatus' claws, forcing Cinderace to jump back.
"Eterna!" Eternatus calls out, before it fires a beam of pulsing energy from its mouth.
"Watch out!" Gloria calls out.
"Dodge!" Victor calls out.
Cinderace and Inteleon jump up, as the beam of pulsing energy hits the ground.
"It knows Flamethrower, Cross Poison, and Dragon Pulse," Sonia says. "And there's that attack it used when we arrived."
Cinderace and Inteleon land next to their Trainers.
"Are you two okay?" Gloria asks.
"Intel," Inteleon nodded its head.
"Cinder, Ace," Cinderace agrees.
"Great," Victor says, before looking ahead. "Wait, what's it doing?"
"Eterna!" Eternatus calls out, as energy gathers onto its core, before its entire body glowing.
Sonia looks at her Energy Detector, "What? It's absorbing Dynamax energy into itself?"
Suddenly the Energy Detector sparks, with the screen blowing out, before Sonia drops it.
"Eterna!" Eternatus, as it glows, starts to grow, with the top of its head increasing in size and becoming more circular.
"It's Dynamaxing, or Gigantamaxing?!" Gloria calls out.
Eternatus's body starts to stretch down, as it takes shape.
"No, this is more powerful," Sonia realizes. "Its power is eternal, its… it's Eternamaxing!"
"Eterna!" Eternatus calls out, as its glowing stops.
Everyone looks up at Eternatus, terrified, except for Rose, who appears to be in a state of awe.
"Eterna!" Energy starts to gather onto Eternatus' core.
"Watch out! It's still collecting Dynamax energy!" Sonia calls out. "It's getting ready to fire its Dynamax Cannon!"
"Eterna!" Eternatus fires a massive blast from its core.
The massive blast starts to fly toward Victor and Gloria, with Cinderace and Inteleon standing in front of them.
The altar in Slumbering Weald gives a bright glow, before blue and red beams shoot up from the altar.
The blue and red beams fly through the darkened skies.
The blue and red beams fly down at Victor and Gloria, as the massive blast collides, creating a large explosion.
"Victor! Gloria!" Sonia calls out, as she, Leon, Hop, Charizard, and Rillaboom watch, worried.
As the smoke clears, standing before Victor, Gloria, Cinderace, and Inteleon are Zacian and Zamazenta.
"Zacian…" Victor says.
"And Zamazenta…" Gloria says.
"Eterna!" Eternatus calls out.
"Zaci-an!"
"Zenta!"
Zacian and Zamazenta, with Victor, Gloria, Cinderace, and Inteleon behind them, stare off against Eternatus.
"Our heroes, on the verge of danger, had been saved by Zacian and Zamazenta, the legendary king Pokémon. But even with their immense power, will our heroes be able to stop Eternatus and end the second Darkest Day?"
