Hello to whoever will read this. I don't own anything from the Httyd franchise. Hope you enjoy.
Astrid was patrolling the area thinking what George just said to her. Without realising she ended up at George's and Hiccup's tent. She went inside but couldn't find the auburn haired boy. She looked around the camp for him only to find him talking with Tuffnut and Fishlegs.
"So, you guys, are sure you didn't see him anywhere?" Hiccup asked.
"No. Nowhere, not even in the tent with Nightwing." Fishlegs answered. Hiccup looked puzzled. Astrid walked towards them and told them about her encounter with the white haired boy.
"Woah, Hiccup what did you fix for him?" Tuffnut asked. Hiccup thought for a second and then he looked at Astrid.
"Did he had something on his wrists?" Hiccup asked the blonde shield maiden.
"I didn't see clearly. It was dark. But he might have had something on his wrists." Astrid answered. Hiccup widened his eyes in shock and murmured something. He then sighed and went for his tent.
"Where are you going Hiccup? What about George." Fishlegs asked and the auburn haired boy turned and looked at him.
"There's nothing we can do now. I'm certain we will hear about him in the morning." With that Hiccup left the group.
Meanwhile, at the Outcasts' camp a figure was walking in the shadows eliminating any chance of being seen by anyone. The hooded figure stopped on top of a building and eavesdropped on two guards.
"Man, why did I have to be stuck here? I could be guarding the ballistas or even better, I could be firing them." One of the guards sighed. The other one simple snickered.
"After you little accident, where you freed those Deadly Nadders, you are lucky you are eve-" The other guard suddenly stopped talking.
"Hey, What happe-" A knife was launched into the guard's neck killing him. The hooded figure, moving away from the dead bodies, looked up to see three guards patroling the area around one of the ballistas.
"Three targets. Three shots." The hooded figure said and took off the hood in order to have a better view. The white haired boy raised his right hand up in the air and three knifes flew off his hand in an instant, killing all the guard simultaneously. George walked up to the ballista and cut off some the ropes making it useless.
"Hey, who are you?" A voice asked behind him. George swiftly activated the mechanism on his wrists and with a precise turn he stabbed the surprised guard on the stomach. The mechanism then retracted and the hidden blade disappeared back in.
As the night progressed, George managed to destroy two more ballistas and killed anyone who was in his way. Realising that he had done enough work with the ballistas, the white haired boy turned his attention towards the tower. He was going to rescue all the girls, especially Heather.
As he continued to move through the shadows, his mind was empty. His goal was clear and he would succeed. As he started climbing the Eastern wall to gain access to the fortress he heard footsteps above him. A single Viking was making his rounds close to the ledge. One moment the Viking was on top of the wall, the next his lifeless body had fallen down on the ground. The white haired boy, now inside the fortress made his way quickly towards the prison. One problem, he didn't know where it was, thankfully the guards knew.
"Tell me where you keep the girls you captured and I won't throw you off." George threatened a Dragon Hunter with his hidden blade pointing on the man's throat. The man was backing away with his hands in the air. In front of him he had a hooded figure, while behind him was the end of wall and a very big fall.
"The- The building left of the tower." The man said. George lowered his hand nd turned his back on him, making the man smile believing he was spared. Suddenly, the white haired boy turned around again and slid the man's throat with a quick motion. The Dragon Hunter grabbed his throat trying to stop the bleeding but he was becoming increasingly weak and disorienting. He was trying his hardest to remain standing but the inevitable happened and the man fell from the ledge.
The prison was next to the tower, but in order to get there, the assassin had to get across a massive open area. He could see groups of Outcasts and Dragon Hunters either talking or walking. If he wanted to succeed he had to be swift and deadly.
"Hey wh-" One Outcast down by a knife in the head.
"Wha-" Another dead by a knife on the throat. Two more were killed from behind with the hidden blades.
"ALARM!"
'Fuck'. The assassin thought. If he had to be honest he wasn't the stealthiest. Too many bodies in plain sight. As more and more men came outside to see what was happening, George rushed towards the prison killing everyone with his knives from Gobber or his blades. Finally he reached the prison.
He searched inside for the girls, he found them at the last cell.
"Who are you?" Camicazi asked holding her spoon up as a weapon. George took off his hood and the blonde girl immediately relaxed. They were going to be free.
"Where's Heather?" The white haired boy asked as he was picking the lock. Camicazi and Ruffnut looked at eachother and then bith gave him a confused look.
"Why would Heather be here?" That gave George the answer that the girls didn't know about Heather so she must be held somewhere else.
"There are close to 20 guards outside. When I open the door you run towards the east part of the wall. You will find a cart full of hay that they use for the dragons." The assassin said as he put his hood back on. The girls looked at him in confusion.
"You will jump and when you land on the hay you will run out of this camp." He finished and opened the door.
Immediately, an arrow flew past the door and landed on the wall. George closed the door and gave them a smile. He opened door slightly and threw something. Then he took the torch from the wall and threw it out the door and he closed it quickly. An explosion was heard and the two girls looked at him expecting answers.
"I might have taken a canister or two full of Zippleback gas from Hiccup. He will never know" He smirked. When the trio opened the door the smoke had cleared and they could see they had a clear path towards where the white haired boy said.
They all reached the edge but as the girls were reading themselves George simple pushed them. The assassin turned and started walking towards the tower.
Hiccup was anxious to say the least. He didn't get any sleep. He kept thinking about his most trusted friend. They have been through a lot so the auburn haired boy knew that his friend could take care of himself but again he hadn't used the assassin gear in years. He was ordered not to. Hiccup sighted and rubbed his eyes. This was going to be a long day. He started walking towards the command center where all the others were waiting for him.
"Where's George Hiccup? I could use him in the land assault." Dagur asked. Hiccup stared at him contemplating whether or not to tell them where he was. The Dragon Rider turned to Big-Bertha.
"He went on a stealth mission to free Camicazi, Ruffnut and Heather." He said, he hoped, that that's all he went to do. The chieftains were talking to themselves ignoring Hiccup. Like Berk did all those years ago. The auburn haired boy rubbed his wrist, they still hurt.
'Useless Useless Useless' He thought.
'I could have gone with him. I could have sent somebody. I could have saved Heather.' He continued thinking. His thoughts becoming more and more darker. He continued rubbing his wrists.
Astrid was observing him and she could see he was not in a good place. She walked towards him making him looking up at her.
'Those eyes. His eyes!' The voice inside her said.
'I know. He reverted back to the insecure and afraid kid he was.' Astrid answered.
'We need to help him.'
'How? I. I don't know how.' Astrid stated.
'Be there. Support him. No words. No gestures. Just exist next to him'. The voice answered.
'That won't work.'
'Try it.'
Astrid smiled at him and then looked at the other chieftains.
"We should get ready for the attack. Let's continue this in an hour." She said looking at Stoick, who understood that something was off.
Astrid stayed back with Hiccup in the tent. It was clear something has happened but he didn't want to open up about it. The blonde girl opened and closed her mouth several times, trying to think of what to say.
"I shouldn't be in this position. They are right, I'm a failure. I tried to fix my mistake but I failed. I dragged so many people into war because of my mistake." Hiccup said without making eye contact with her. Astrid raised her hand and rubbed his shoulder gently.
"Hiccup, you are not a failure. You need to understand that. You changed the Viking world. Who can say they did that?" She smiled.
"I can't lead these men. So many wounded, so many dead..." Hiccup trailed off he rubbed his wrists one more time.
"If you couldn't lead these men they wouldn't have followed you nor would the chieftains allowed you to do it." She reasoned not missing his gestures.
"But Heather..."
"Will be rescued." She cut him off. He looked at her not believing her.
"George went to rescue them. He will do it. We on the other hand need to fight. And we need a leader to lead." He continued to stare at her.
'His confidence is fragile.' The voice said to the blonde shield maiden.
"Don't worry. If you screw up I will help clean it up." She smiled. His stare didn't change he looked at her trying to find something false about her statement, something to show him that she was lying, he was alone and he would fail. He tried to look for those signs. His experience told him that there were always signs. Not in her eyes though...
Hiccup stayed like this for a moment or two more and then stood up. He turned to look at her and extended his hand.
'She's changed. Maybe I could trust her.' He thought.
Astrid took his hand and they left the tent so that they could give orders to the others.
"All right everyone. We continue our attack as it is. When the dragon riders find an opening they should take it." He began.
"Ehm. Hiccup? Nightwing was crucial to yesterday's attack. He and George managed to beat several enemy dragons." Fishlegs began.
"Plus having a Night Fury on our side and being above us, gave the men a sense of security and it intimidated the dragon hunters." Dagur continued. Hiccup heard them and a plan was quickly forming in his head. Astrid seeing the gears in his head spinning tighten her grip on his hand making him come back to reality.
"I have a plan."
"Night Fury!" A dragon hunter yelled right before an explosion. Without the ballistas, the advantage was clearly with Hiccup and the others. The dragon hunters were pushed so much back that they were close to their own camp. There, Dagur found Camicazi and Ruffnut defending for themselves. When asked where George was the girls told them what happened.
"He's probably going to save Heather on his own. That's insane! I like him!" Dagur declared and stormed off towards the enemy yelling and screaming. Word that the girls were saved traveled fast raising the moral of everyone.
Hiccup hearing this, started heading towards the tower in order to help his friend. He ordered everyone else to keep their line but Astrid and the rest of the group disobeyed and followed him. The auburn haired boy was the first to see George clearly.
The white haired boy was trying to make his way towards the tower but the resistance was too great. Hiccup could see Viggo and Alvin standing at the entrance of the building.
"Toothless let's help him." The dragon roared and started blasting the enemy Vikings. Vigor seeing this said something to Alvin and left the area.
With a clear path, George made his way towards Heather. He saw Alvin going inside so he went in too. A few minutes later Fishlegs and Snotlout landed and followed him. Astrid, Tuffnut and Hiccup stayed in the air to provide support.
Inside the building the two Berkians saw the trail that the Dragon Rider left behind.
"Snotlout, I think you were very lucky he didn't fight you seriously." Fishlegs said recalling the fight the two boys had.
"Yeah..." Snotlout gulped.
At the top of the tower there was a huge room. In the middle there was a big rectangular table with maps and sheets of paper on top of it. George was looking at those papers, not acknowledging the two dragon riders.
"Well. It seems that now I have no choice but to kill you." A voice from the far end of the room said. All of them looked at the source.
Alvin appeared holding Heather tightly. She seemed tired and beaten. Very beaten. George saw red. He immediately charged at him but when Alvin pressed his sword on her neck the white haired boy froze.
"No sudden moves or I might get scared and I tend to tremble when I'm scared." The black bearded man said smirking.
"What should we do?" Fishlegs said and walked towards the Dragon Rider.
"Surrender." Alvin answered. The two Berkians protested.
"Surrender and you can have the girl." George immediately threw down his sword surprising everyone.
"If it means you want hurt her... I surrender." Alvin looked at him wide eyed. He couldn't believe he fell for such a simple trap. The Outcast chief laughed and threw the girl down at his feet. He raised his sword.
"I don't see the others though..." He smirked. George raised his own hands.
"I'm enough." He said confusing Alvin. In that moment, the white haired assassin threw four knives, his last ones. Two hit Alvin on his hand forcing him to drop his sword. The other one hit him on his leg and the last one missed only millimetres from the Outcast chief's head. With a growl Alvin picked up his weapon and run towards the back of the room. George followed him. As he passed Heather their eyes meet. She smiled.
Seeing her alive, he felt relieved and smiled back.
"Fishlegs I'm going after Alvin. Take care of Heather, she needs you." George said closing his eyes when he reopened them... The assassin personality emerged. Cold and ruthless.
"Please be careful." Heather said weakly. The white haired assassin left the room following the Outcast chief. As he opened the door he was met with a blinding light and a shadow coming towards him fast. His reflexes saved him from certain death. His eyes adjusted to the sun light and he saw Alvin looking angrily at him.
Meanwhile, Hiccup was in the air making sure not only the army was safe but also that the tower didn't get any reinforcements. Suddenly, Toothless dodged a thundershot.
"Wha- Where did this come from?" Hiccup was surprised. The Night Fury kept his eyes on a specific dragon.
A jet black Skrill was staring back at Toothless. On top of it, Viggo was examining Hiccup.
"You are a worthy opponent Hiccup Haddock. It's a shame we won't have any more chances of meeting in the future." Viggo said calmly and with a motion of his feet the Skrill released another lighting bolt. Toothless returned the fire and when the two attacks meet a massive explosion pushed both of them back. They continued to fight, dodging and firing with a mastery.
Everyone on the battlefield could see the two dragons fighting. Dagur used this opportunity to rally the men to push further.
Astrid, who had stayed in the air watching the fight, heard someone calling her name. She looked in the direction of the tower and saw Fishlegs and Snotlout carrying Heather. She landed quickly and went to check up on them. When the boys told them what happened she looked up and saw the balcony where George and Alvin were fighting. Then she looked in the air where Hiccup and Viggo where having their own fight.
'Is there a way to help any of the two?' She asked her voice.
'I don't think so.' The voice sounded defeated.
"NOOOOOOO!" A yell from Heather made the blond shield maiden to come back to reality. She looked at the girl and followed her gaze.
George was held up from the throat by Alvin, who was walking towards the edge of the balcony with the ocean below. The white haired boy struggled to get free but the older Viking was stronger than him.
At that exact moment. Hiccup, who heard the yell, lost his focus and Viggo took the chance to finish the fight. He commanded his Skrill to gather all his stored power and to release it at the Rider.
As the lighting bolts from the Skrill were released, George found enough space to manoeuvre his hand in a way where the hidden blade could struck Alvin. As the blade extended, Hiccup was hit by the lighting bolts...
Both Dragon Riders were falling...
The world slow down. Both Hiccup and George thought the exact same thing.
'This is it. This is how it ends. I'm sorry.'
"NOOOOOOO!" Both Heather and Astrid yelled...
Done. Whoa. I apologize for not uploading for so long. I was in a very bad place mentally when I start writing this story. But now that I'm better I didn't want to return to that place. I did promise to myself though that I would finish this story and I will. Of you like the story or you think I can do something better please tell me. Thank you for reading.
