Chapter 24

Queen Genevieve

"There you go, papa," said Genevieve as she and Derek helped her father into his bed.

"Thank you, Genevieve, Derek," said Randolph.

"Your welcome, Randolph." Said Derek.

"We'll let you get some rest now, papa," said Genevieve.

"Thanks, Genevieve." As Derek and Genevieve were leaving the room, little Lacey came in; she got on top of their father's bed and started to have their conversation.

On some occasions, she would let Lacey be with her father, but only for a while since he had to rest.

When they entered the study room, they were surprised to find Fallon and Edaline there; they saw Edaline had a letter in her hand and looked frightened.

"Edaline, what is it?" asked Derek.

"Genevieve…... a letter from king Willard came today here; read the letter." Said Edaline as she handed them the letter.

"And I've been thinking about Levi; something doesn't add up here. I think he might be the one who planned Kathleen's kidnapping. Think about it who else would know how to sneak in Glidonia?" said Fallon as Genevieve nodded

"I, too, have thought about the same thing, but Derek suggests we find out more because it's a serious accusation" she looked over at her husband and began to read the letter.

Derek took the letter and started reading it as his eyes widened at what he had read.

"What is it, Derek?" she asked. Derek handed the letter to Genevieve; his eyes were still in shock after what he had just read, "I would never agree to that; it all made sense now, Fallon, and you are right. All this was a plan that Levi had planned, to get a hold of the kingdom." said Derek.

Genevieve read this and was in the same condition as Derek. The only difference was that she felt like she had lost her balance and felt a bit dizzy; she grabbed hold of the arm of the chair and tightened it as she was sitting down. She tried to hide the dizziness she was feeling, but Derek managed to catch that,

"Genevieve, are you all right?" said Derek.

"Yes, I'm fine." Said Genevieve.

She didn't want to make it so important, but on the other hand, Fallon and Edaline were also worried that her sister might have something serious.

"No, you're not. This isn't the first time that has happened." Said Derek with a worried look on his face.

"It isn't?" said Fallon.

"No, Fallon, could you please go bring a doctor." Said, Derek

"Of course, I'll be right back." Said Fallon.

"No, I'm fine, really." She said.

"It's better to be sure." Said Edaline as Fallon left to go find one.

When Fallon left, Derek and Edaline took Genevieve to the bedroom and helped her get to their bed, and Derek covered her with a blanket.

"Derek, I'm fine, really; I think I know what I have," she told him.

"Genevieve, you are starting to worry me. You're constantly feeling dizzy? And you threw up last time?" he told her.

"It's not the first time these things have happened," she told him.

"See?" said Derek.

"Derek, I might have a clue of what I have, but I'm not sure." She said.

"When the doctor gets here, you'll find out." Said Edaline as they waited for the doctor to get here.

After a while, they heard a knock and saw the door open to reveal Fallon and the doctor.

"We'll let the doctor examine you." Said Fallon.

"We will be outside if you need anything." Said Edaline as they both left the room.

"Your highness, I didn't expect to see you today? What's the matter?" he asked.

"I've been experiencing some dizziness and sick in the morning, but I think I know what I have; I'm just not sure?" she said.

"Well, let's look then, your highness." The doctor started to examine Genevieve; he took out his stethoscope, used it to listen to her heart, and gave her a quick routine checkup.

"Okay, everything seems to be in normal conditions; just one more question to confirm this." Genevieve nodded.

"When was the last time you had your menstrual cycle?" he asked her as Genevieve gasped at this; she had skipped her cycle twice, she was always on time like a clock, and she had no more doubts about what she suspected was correct.

"By its looks, you are correct, your highness." He said to her.

"What does he mean?" said Derek.

"I'll leave you to talk two to talk, your highness; I'll go check on your father and be back later to give you another exam." Said Doctor as Genevieve nodded and saw the doctor exit the room with Fallon behind him.

As the door closed, she turned around to look at Derek's beautiful blue eyes; she could see the worry in his eyes and his facial expression; she knew he always worried about her and cared; she took a deep breath before opening her mouth to talk.

"What's wrong, Genevieve? "Asked Derek.

"Nothing serious, Derek," she told him with a smile.

"What is it then?" Genevieve stared at Derek with a smile on her face,

"Derek… I… we're going to be parents," said Genevieve with a smile on her face; Derek's eyes widened as his mouth did too to what Genevieve said.

"What?" said Derek with a confused expression on his face; this took him by a big surprise.

"You're going to be a father," said Genevieve while laughing at Derek, who still couldn't believe it.

"I'm going to be a father! Genevieve, this is the most exciting and best news you ever gave me!" said Derek with tons of joy and happiness; he and Genevieve shared a hug, then he captured her lips and pressed them slightly against his.

Princess Fallon

After the doctor left Derek and Genevieve's room, he told them her sister would tell her the news later, and she nodded; he told her he wanted to examine her father and lead him to her father.

The doctor started to examine her father. As she and her sisters waited patiently, almost all the girls, little lacey, Janessa, Hadley, Isla, and Edaline, all wanted to be present with what the doctor had to say about their father.

"Well, I am happy to say that your highness is getting a bit better little by little; I now recommend that starting tomorrow, you should get out of bed and take a walk." Said Doctor.

"That's good news," said their father.

"However, that doesn't mean that you can overdo it." Said the doctor.

"Don't worry, doctor, I'll make sure he doesn't overstep." Said Edaline as the doctor smiled and started to put his stuff away; just then, Derek and Genevieve came in with a smile on their faces.

'What are they up to?' wondered Fallon.

"Genevieve, Derek come on in," said her father.

"Hey guys, what's going on?" said Fallon.

"Are you okay, Genevieve?" asked Edaline worried as Genevieve nodded.

"Were glad everyone is here. We have some important news to tell everyone." Said Genevieve as she turned and smiled at Derek.

"Well, what's the news?" said Fallon.

"Well…. Soon, you guys will hear and see small footsteps around the castle." Genevieve looked at Derek and smiled; everyone's eyes soon widened significantly her father's.

"Really, I will be having a little grandchild running around here?!" exclaimed Randolph.

"Yes, you are papa." Said Genevieve with a smile on her face.

"I'm so happy for you guys," said Fallon.

"Thanks." Said Derek.

"I'm going to be an aunt?" said little Lacey.

"Yes, you are, Lacey." Said Derek.

"I'm so happy for you two; how far along are you, Genevieve?" asked her father.

"Uh…. 9 weeks but were still a bit nervous." Said Genevieve with a smile on her face.

"you'll be fine, both of you will; I remember when your mother told me she was pregnant with our first child. I was in your same position, Derek. I was so nervous too, but in the end, I was fine, and so will you." Said Randolph.

"Thanks, Randolph." Said Derek.

Fallon watched as her sister and husband were happy, and they would be even more with their baby on their way.

She decided to let them enjoy their happiness for now since theirs never last long; she'll discuss with them what to do about Levi another day.
