Chapter 8
The 100 – solstice
Now here we are, finally. Sorry it took me so long to post this chapter some real life stuff has really gotten in the way of my fan fic writing over the last few months. Things are beginning to get sorted though so hopefully I'm back for good now and will be able to seriously get down and finish this fic.
To begging with I thought I could do this in 12 chapters but as things move on and I write more that number is making less and less sense so I'm going to be increasing the chapter number now.
Bellamy
Sitting at one of his favourite tables in the college library Bellamy did his best to balance the different tasks he was juggling at the present moment. Being in his last year at college he had a lot of important exams he needed to prepare for but he also had stuff he needed to do for his job so Bellamy was doing his best to do both at the same time.
Bellamy loved his job he really did, cataloguing newly acquired books for the library part of the private museum complex the Lightbourns were creating really was his dream job. The Lightbourns really were well on their way to creating the ultimate private museum as far as he could see and he liked being a part of that however small, it was just it did add on to the stresses of his life at college. Instead of just having his college work to deal which consisted of exam prep and essay writing he also had cataloguing work to do as well which meant he was left with a lot of different things to juggle.
Bellamy tried to concentrate on all these things but as he wrote up the cataloguing work he had to do he found himself thinking more and more about Clarke. It had been a few weeks now since he and the princess had made up after their little spat and since then they had been chatting a lot more, not just on social media either they had actually hung around each other a few times now. Other people like Octavia or Harper had been there as well but still the two of them were talking more and more these days and as a result of that he was getting to know the princess more and more which had led to some interesting discovery's.
He had known he and Clarke had a few things in common but as it actually turned out the two of them shared a lot of likes and dislikes. They had similar tastes in music as it turned out and they both hated how a few TV shows had ended but more than those things there was there apparent shared love of books and the written word. As it turned out Clarke had a lot of books almost as much as he did in fact and recently they had talked quite a bit about books which was why doing his cataloguing work had him thinking of the princess at the present moment.
They had talked about things like the great Gatsby and the never answered question of which cast Gatsby was or the hand maid's tail and the gender dynamics of the book focusing on a female Alpha. Recently they had also chatted about the always controversial pride and prejudice which had been a conversation Bellamy had especially enjoyed, they idea of two Alphas falling in love always got people talking in his experience. As it turned out he and Clarke had many similar opinions when it came to these books as well as others but he still really enjoyed talking about them with her as well as debating the few aspects they didn't entirely agree on.
As the princess had said they were friends now so Bellamy guessed these were all things two friends did but it still felt like there was something more here to him. He didn't really understand why but the fact that the princess had chosen to describe them as friends when he had pushed her bothered Bellamy, well if he was being honest with himself he did actually know why. Clarke was a good looking girl and one he had seen was intelligent, fun to be around and simply put one who was interesting so what wasn't there to like plus she was an Omega so that also got a certain part of him to take notice.
He still thought about their kiss sometimes, to begin with he'd blamed the kiss on his rut and his condition but Bellamy didn't think he could do that anymore he couldn't even really say it was because of that stupid bet that was still floating around unresolved. He'd kissed Clarke because he wanted too not because his inner Alpha was telling him too take her and certainly not because Brie had challenged him with her bet, he had kissed Clarke because he wanted to. Things hadn't changed either if he was being honest with himself Bellamy knew deep down he only wanted her more now that he had gotten to know Clarke and he didn't just want to kiss her any more.
Destiny wants this to happen his inner Alpha whispered in his ear as Bellamy's mind wondered in regards to Clarke, there it was Bellamy thought upon feeling this whispered thought rattle around his head representing desires he knew he was feeling when it came to Clarke. 'No don't go there,' he whispered to himself the moment this thought popped into his head, looking up from his work he gave himself a slight shake as well in an attempt to purge that thought.
Bellamy did believe destiny had a path laid out for him and he would say the fact Clarke had a sub cast condition the way he did was probably a sign of something, at least as far as his and Clarkes destines connecting were considered. However the princess did not share his beliefs around destiny so whatever it might mean the two of them crossing paths when they had such a big thing in common Bellamy knew he needed to respect Clarke's beliefs and not get preachy with her.
Both Uncle Huxley and his grandmother had always said you can disagree with someone's choices or beliefs but you do need to accept them which was what he was trying to do as far as Clarke was concerned, excepting her beliefs around destiny wasn't the difficult part though. In spite of himself he still had difficulty with the fact Clarke was pretending to be a Beta though, well not really it was more how she was doing it he understood why some Omegas took a few pills every now and then really Bellamy did understand but what Clarke was doing was a step beyond that. The princess was practically drowning herself in all kinds of chemicals so she could convince people she was a beta and in his mind that crossed a line so it was difficult for Bellamy to accept that she was doing this to herself but he was trying.
Sometimes Bellamy could even forget about everything Clarke was doing to herself but the princess sent was hard to miss, there was always that lovely vanilla and fermented smell there when he was around Clarke but often it was overpowered by the scent of wood and lavender which Bellamy practically gagged on sometimes. Leaning back in his seat more or less giving up on his work at this point Bellamy thought about this and how when he had gotten a taste of Clarke's obviously fake too him at least Beta sent yesterday he had just for a moment thought he was actually going to throw up. It was just that fake and real sent mix, it really got to him for some reason and especially so recently, annoyingly that was probably a sign a Rut was coming up and that was bound to be a problem.
As of now Clarke had only seen him during a rut once and that certainly could have gone better, rut's weren't like an Omega's heat as in they didn't happen once a month, cycles were longer for Alphas like Bellamy but there was no getting around it a rut was coming up. When Bellamy was going through a rut it was just plain difficult to rain in his instincts, he'd be walking around with a practically permanent hard on until he found somewhere or someone for all that to go into but even if that happened things could still be a problem. During a rut he had this all-consuming desire to find a worthy Omega and claim her, mate her, impregnate her, the whole thing he wanted all that so bad during a rut so it was very difficult to rain in his inner Alpha.
It was why he had said yes to that stupid bet of Brie's when she had called him out after Clarke had blown him off at Solstice and Bellamy was concerned he would end up doing something equally as stupid this rut. He'd wanted Clarke last time simply because she was an Omega and that had been enough to set his inner Alpha off and push Bellamy over the edge a little but now he had gotten to know Clarke he knew in his gut it would be more intense this time. There were so many things Bellamy liked about Clarke now and they were the sort of things one would hope to find in a mate so he was sure his desire for Clarke would be really bad during his upcoming rut, he'd need to find some kind of outlet to help him deal.
Interestingly as if destiny was listening in on his internal monologue this was when Bellamy noticed Brie enter this part of the library and seeing him she immediately made a bee line for him. 'Well, well, well,' she began reaching him and sitting down without asking if she could join Bellamy or not 'haven't seen you in a while Bellamy, you been missing me?'
Bellamy hadn't been missing Brie but he couldn't exactly say that so he just gave a non-committal shrug as way of an answer. He wasn't the kind of guy who viewed girls as disposable conquests but Bellamy was always up front with girls about his lack of interest in any long term relationship and most of the people he had slept with were OK with that. Not Brie though, she had this way of inserting herself into things he was doing which was why he had enjoyed the lack of her presence recently, in short Brie represented a bad habit he was trying to break.
'O, really,' Brie said shooting him an unconvinced smile as she spoke 'has that girl Clarke been keeping you busy, I imagine there's a lot you can teach a girl like that.'
'Brie,' Bellamy hissed embarrassed by how freely she was talking about this 'this is not the place to talk about this.'
'O, come on,' Brie pouted theatrically 'give me something Bellamy, have you knot'ed her yet, bet she really liked that I still remember the first time you stretched me open.'
'Brie,' Bellamy gasped, this was getting really personal now and he didn't like it, he really wanted to tell her this stupid bet he had made with her was off but Bellamy had made a promise to Clarke so he couldn't. 'I'm not telling you anything to do with me and Clarke,' Bellamy whispered after a minutes silent thinking hoping Brie would except this and let the point drop, she wasn't going to do that though.
'Wait,' Brie said slowly her smile widening studying Bellamy closely 'you haven't managed to stamp her v card yet have you Bellamy, the bets still on isn't it.'
More or less growling from frustration a moment after hearing this Bellamy stood up and started quickly gathering his things he wasn't going to get any work done now so there was no point in continuing to try. He wanted to tell Brie the bet was off Bellamy really wanted to tell everyone that, he didn't like what people must be thinking about him as he and the princess got closer but he had made Clarke a promise when it came to the bet and he wasn't going to break that promise.
'Wow,' Brie laughed as Bellamy pulled his stuff together in front of her taking his reaction as confirmation 'you haven't managed to close the deal with that up tight Beta bitch.'
Bellamy's inner Alpha really pressed him to react to that one but he didn't, however much he might like to he couldn't go around defending Clarke's honour as if she was his own personal Omega. He just hissed to Brie to leave it and then moved away from her quickly to avoid her coming after him and antagonising him further, things between him and Clarke were complicated enough without Brie making things even more confusing.
Clarke
Staring at the canvas that was her current project in her painting class Clarke tried to think what else she could add to the canvas, the brief she and the rest of the class had been given was to paint something replicating the style of Van Gogh which was proving difficult for her. Clarke liked Van Gogh as an artist, especially since it was well known he had been an Omega but in spite of that he wasn't exactly in line with her style of painting so her efforts to paint a version of Bedroom and nest in Arles was proving difficult.
Giving a frustrated sigh Clarke looked away from her splodged mess of a painting to Harper and Octavia who were sitting at one of the small tables within the art room Clarke along with several others who weren't here at the moment had small painting areas set up. The rooms that were used by the painting classes were on the same corridor that the photography classes rooms where so Harper had coming in here to be close to Clarke while she sorted through her photos and Octavia for her part was just here.
'How are things going with your stuff Harper,' Clarke asked frowning as she did 'I can't seem to figure mine out.' Being since they were taking similar classes both artistic and medical related Clarke and Harper had gotten in to a habit of bouncing things off of each other when they needed to which Clarke definitely needed now.
'Your painting looks great Clarke,' Octavia cut in before Harper could respond speaking rather sweetly which was strange for her 'the nest you have on their looks very neat and tidy.'
'I think you set off someone's inner Alpha Clarke,' Harper mocked looking up from her stack of photos of practically naked Omegas looking from Octavia to Clarke and then to her painting which was a messy floor covered in blankets. 'I know it's not really your thing Clarke,' Harper said after a few minutes addressing Clarke now 'but try to make it messier, trust me here no nest looks quite that neat.'
'Thanks,' Clarke sighed looking back at her painting feeling a mix of disappointment and embarrassment, she had tried not to make it to ordered, she had tried to make her painting messy but she had really failed to do that. That wasn't what was embarrassing her though it was the fact Harper had just so casually insinuated that she had made a nest before while Clarke could barely even think about doing such a thing without feeling herself blush. Nesting had very much been something her mum had refused to talk about as a kid only ever saying good girls don't do such a thing so as a result Clarke had trouble managing such a concept in conversation or in her work.
Feeling all kinds of embarrassment and frustration now Clarke stole a glance at Harper who was back to sorting through her photos even though Harper didn't know it they were both part of the same cast but they were so different. Both of them had a similarly low body temperature so it didn't take a lot for either of them to stay warm or for that matter over heat, but while Clarke was wearing a pair of lose fitting genes and a baggy airy sweater Harper was wearing a lose fitting vest top and a skirt that finished above the knee. Here Clarke was working so hard to present as Beta but everything about Harper said Omega she had no interest in hiding her cast on any level, the dangers or draw backs of being an Omega clearly didn't affect Harper and that was hard for Clarke to understand.
Clarke knew now Harpers back ground was a stereotype with her having an Alpha dad and an Omega mum who had mated in their twenty's and had a dozen kids which Harper was the fifth of apparently so there was that. Still though Harper had to have seen all the things Clarke had been told about, she had probably experienced a lot of stuff she didn't talk about Clarke would guess based on the stories Clarke had always been told so the question remained, why was Harper so out and proud. Living as an Omega, not hiding what your cast was, was one thing but broadcasting was something else entirely, Clarke tried not to judge but that didn't stop it confusing Clarke that Harper was so opening about all this stuff.
'So,' Octavia began breaking the silence and drawing the girls attention 'you guys looking forward to my party.'
'Of course,' Clarke and Harper said almost in unison looking in Octavia's direction. 'Yeah,' Clarke added 'I'm sure we are all going to have loads of fun,' Octavia's birthday was a few days away now and a big party had been planned to celebrate it which would be taking place at the Blake family's ancestral home. Which was a building ever since she had been told about the stuff to do with Bellamy and Octavia's cousin Clarke had very much been curious about and wanted to see?
'Well hopefully,' Octavia nodded smiling at Clarke as she spoke 'a bunch of people you haven't met yet Clarke are going to be there and I think you will like a few of them.'
'Like who,' Clarke asked curious by this observation of Octavia's.
'Well like Madi for one,' Octavia smiled 'she's going to be there, her ass whole farther is going to have people drop her off, she's very artistic as well Clarke I think you will like her.' Octavia paused here breathing in as if considering something but then continued talking 'also there's Indra, Gaia's mum she's really something Clarke and I think he will like her as well, everyone always does.'
'Good,' Clarke smiled nodding as she spoke 'definitely something to look forward to then.' Based on the stories Clarke had been told she was curious more than anything to meet those two to see what they were actually like but that wasn't something she could just say so she kept her mouth shut.
'You thought about bringing Finn,' Harper suggested looking up from her photos again and joining in 'I'm sure we would all like to meet you're mysterious boyfriend.'
'Already suggested that Harper,' Octavia cut in rolling her eyes as she spoke before Clarke could say anything 'apparently there's some big exam he needs to practice for, I don't know why he couldn't take an evening out to come meet us all though.' Finishing Octavia pressed her lips in a clearly annoyed fashion at not getting her way here 'it could have been great, Raven is finally bringing Mr Right to something so we could have met him and Clarke's boy at the same time.'
'He was really sad he couldn't be there as well,' Clarke pleaded defensively trying to placate Octavia 'but this exam is really important and Finn needs to really cram for it,' this was really stretching the truth but Clarke wasn't especially bothered about lying about this. When she had called Finn and mentioned about her going to a friend's birthday party he had offered to blow off his exam prep to come but ever the dutiable girlfriend she had encouraged him to stay where he was and study.
Clarke did tell Finn things about her life at college and the friends she was making but she also left a lot out Bellamy being a great example but more than that she hadn't even shared names with him so she wasn't terribly eager for him to meet people and find out certain details about her new friends. Clarke wasn't embarrassed of anyone but the fact was the people she was around now were very different from her and Finn, they believed different things about the casts and all that stuff to them so if Finn met them he was sure to worry about her. She was fine, Clarke had figured out ways to work around her new friends and all their stuff but she just knew it would be difficult for Finn to understand that, as a boyfriend he worried a lot about her and she just didn't want him to worry unnecessarily.
'Whatever Clarke,' Octavia said shrugging drawing Clarke's attention away from thoughts of her boyfriend and back to Octavia 'but if I don't get to meet him on my birthday the very least you could do is let me help spice up what you go to my party wearing.'
'Yes, please yes Clarke,' Harper added piling on this point smiling brightly 'please let us take you shopping, just because you're not an Omega doesn't mean you can't show some skin.'
Clarke couldn't help but giggle upon hearing that, if Harper only knew how that sentence sounded to her 'sure,' Clarke grinned after a minutes giggling 'that sounds fun, but to be clear I'm not going to the lengths of some of the stuff I've seen you wear Harper.'
'Or lack thereof,' Octavia added smiling mocking Harper, not that Octavia was really in any position to judge on that front. Being an Alpha Octavia needed to wear layers when it was cold like the thick jacket she was wearing now but whenever the weather allowed it Octavia had no trouble with wearing clothes that showed off a fair amount of skin.
'O come on guys,' Harper said in a mock pleading tone smiling as she spoke 'you know how it works, I'm an Omega, I don't get cold the same way you guys do.' She paused here to let out a small giggle but then kept talking 'and besides I'm not as bad as some, I know this Omega Levitt who'd walk around naked if society would let him, also I'd point out neither of you know how easy it is to overheat as an Omega.'
'My mum was an Omega,' Octavia said rolling her eyes as she spoke 'I do know all that Harper I was just mocking.'
Clarke didn't say anything while Octavia and Harper started to chat about Omega stuff and revealing clothing, this talk of Omega's and them over heating had thrown her off a bit. Growing up before she presented the cold had never especially bothered Clarke so she hadn't been one to wear too many layers and back then her mum hadn't been too bothered how she dressed. Her mum had always been a believer in the Abrahamic traditions, such as the attitudes around what was appropriate for a girl or a woman to wear but before Clarke had presented there had been some room for negotiation.
Skirts without tights for example hadn't been out of the question also Clarke had been allowed to wear short sleeve t shirts, that had all changed when she had presented though. After Clarke had, had her one and only heat showing she was an Omega things had very much changed in terms of what she was allowed to wear. It had been explained quite politely to Clarke why it needed to be that way and she understood the reasons then and now but it didn't mean things hadn't been difficult for her in those first few years after she had presented.
The medication Clarke had been put on right away didn't stop aspects of her body developing as an Omega even her sub cast condition didn't stop that, so it had become steadily easier for her to overheat. These days she wore clothes that covered everything up but were also baggy meaning she could keep cool, that hadn't always been the case though there had been a few times she had actually past out from overheating when she was a kid. Her mum had gone a bit over board with the covering up back then but after passing out for the seventh time they had both looked into ways of her staying cool and remaining covered up which had resulted in what Clarke wore these days.
'So,' Octavia said drawing Clarke's attention away from her thoughts about the past 'I guess me and Harper are finally taking you shopping, were finally going to help you adapt your sense of style.'
'Yeah,' Harper grinned piling on to this concept 'it's a bit late to shop today but we will definitely find time to take you out before Octavia's birthday.'
'Sounds fun,' Clarke nodded returning Harper's smile looking from her to Octavia 'I'll be looking forward to it.'
'As so you should,' Octavia laughed her Alpha confidence coming off of her in spades in this moment 'don't tell your mum though Clarke, she thinks I'm enough of a bad influence already.'
'Don't worry about that Octavia,' Clarke said shaking her head 'I won't be telling her anything about us going shopping for her own good.' That was true her mum would be much happier not knowing anything about her going clothes shopping with Octavia and Harper. It would all be fine she wouldn't be buying anything that would put her in danger Clarke would only buy a dress or something that maybe showed her ankles but that wouldn't matter to her mum, she would worry so it was best she kept this secret.
Octavia
Touching up her make up while looking at herself in her dorm room mirror Octavia couldn't help but think about her party that was finally here and was going to be happening this evening at last. She had been planning everything out for what felt like months so now she was actually getting ready to head out to her birthday party Octavia was dizzy with anticipation.
As Octavia finished seeing to her face she couldn't help but look at the reflection of the dress Clarke was going to wear tonight which was hanging on the back of her wardrobe in the reflection of her mirror. She and Harper had tried to get Clarke to go with something that would show a bit more but this had been what Clarke had gotten which in fairness Octavia guessed was a big step for Clarke. As an Alpha Octavia appreciated the dresses pail blue colour but as a woman she didn't like how the dress ended below the knee, had sleeves that ended just above the elbows and had next to no neck line. Clarke was actually a rather pretty girl Octavia knew she had some good curves under all the clothes she wore so she just couldn't understand why she hid her self away.
Continuing to think all this over Octavia turned around and moved toward Clarke's dress to give it a better look, as she did this her inner Alpha whispered that she should take a pair of scissors to it and give Clarke a push. Clarke wasn't here right now and wouldn't be for a little bit thanks to a late class she had today so Octavia had more than enough time to leave Clarke with a much better dress to put on when she got back. Fingering one of the dresses silky sleeves Octavia smiled as her inner Alpha continued to whisper about this she wouldn't even have to deal with any fall out until the actual party and by that time Clarke would probably have other stuff on her mind.
Because of how late Clarke's class ended it had been decided everyone would go on ahead of Clarke and Bellamy would pick her up and bring her along later when she was finished and bring her to the house. Octavia still wasn't sure what was going on there but she was sure there was enough of a thing that if she did cut the sleeves of this dress Clarke would be too distracted by her brother to be too angry at her by the time they got to the house.
Letting go of the sleeve Octavia was about to get her hands on a pair of scissors and go through with this idea of her inner self's but then she stopped in her tracks frowning remembering that stupid bet Bellamy had made. If Bellamy's closeness to Clarke was to do with the bet she probably shouldn't do anything, none of them had known Clarke when that bet had been made but now they did. Clarke was part of the group now and because she thought of her as a friend now Octavia didn't feel right about the bet or maybe in some way getting involved in it.
She should probably talk to Bellamy about letting the bet go Octavia thought stepping away from Clarke's dress; this had probably gone far enough as it was. Personally from what she had heard about Clarke's boyfriend she didn't think much of him and in Octavia's mind like Raven Clarke could do better than the man she had right now. That didn't stop the bet being a bad idea though; it didn't stop the idea of playing around with Clarke in this way being the wrong choice which was why Octavia knew she should talk to her brother.
'Maybe there's something about guys named Finn,' Octavia pondered out loud as she started to search around in the piles of her stuff on her side of the room for her cute bag. Admittedly she hadn't met either of the Finn's that were in her two friends lives but anyone who avoided meeting her, her friends or her family was suspect in Octavia's mind.
Octavia had always had a very close nit group of people around her, growing up the way she had done one needed friends and as a result of this and probably because of the example her brother set she was rather protective of the people she cared about. Ergo why she was suspicious of the two Finn's she as Octavia was beginning to think of them, one Finn, Ravens Finn had been seeing Raven for years but this would be the first time she met him as for Clarke's Finn even though Clarke had been coming here for a few months now he had yet to come visit his girlfriend. To Octavia it felt like these two guys were avoiding her and her brother which to her suggested that both of them had something to hide, after all why would they be scared of two Alphas unless they thought they might be considered a danger to the pack.
'Well, I Guess we will see now,' Octavia whispered to herself as she laid hands on a small bag she felt went with her outfit and stood back up still pondering this over. Raven had asked her pacifically not to grill her Mr right boyfriend and Octavia planned to do that but Raven was one of her oldest friends so she wasn't about to let her Finn off the hook right away. She planned on being polite but Octavia was going to get to the bottom of who Mr right actually was and one day when she met Clarke's Finn she would do the same.
Clarke
Waiting outside her building in the cool evening air for Bellamy to arrive Clarke couldn't help but pick at the sleeves of her dress nervously. She had, had a late class and Bellamy had, had to stay late at college as well so it made sense that he was the one picking her up and taking her to Octavia's birthday party it was just this felt like something very different. It felt like she was outside her building waiting to be picked up by a date or something like that which was definitely a feeling her inner Omega was championing which was no help with Clarke's inner conflict about these feelings.
She even looked like she was waiting for an Alpha date to pick her up, her dressed covered more up than either Harper are Octavia had wanted but it was a light blue which was a colouring everyone knew appealed to Alphas. No one really understood why but in spite of the fact Alpha's were on average darkly featured and traditionally liked to wear darker colours they liked to see people wearing lighter colours so Clarke really looked like she was dressing up for an Alpha. Which she supposed she probably was on some level, none of this had been intentional on Clarke's part but there had been an instinct within her that had wanted to dress this way and there was no point in denying that.
There was something about Bellamy that brought things out of her Clarke mused she didn't really know what it was but there was something there. The fact she had told him about her sub cast condition was proof of that, Clarke had told Bellamy that she was an Apex Omega which was big, she hadn't even told Finn her actual boyfriend about that aspect of herself but she had told Bellamy. She could manage most aspects of her life at college now but whatever this thing with Bellamy was, was different, maybe it was just her Omega instincts getting the better of her but that was beside the point Clarke knew. She had a good boyfriend one who really loved her and understood why she lived the way she did and agreed with her choices so Clarke really needed to get all this under control before anything she would regret happened.
While she was at it she should probably start trusting Finn more Clarke thought as she continued to eye cars as they passed looking for Bellamy's car. All of the things she was keeping from him about just tonight were wrong, Clarke wouldn't want him to keep anything from her so it was probably time she stopped keeping things from Finn. If this was really going to be it for the two of them they were going to need to trust each other and that would include Finn trusting her that she could manage being around her new friends.
Finn already knew most things about her like the fact she was an Omega so they were already a big part of the way there to being completely honest with each other. Clarke loved Finn and she wanted things to be good, she wanted them to have a life together, the kind of life where the two of them could separate them self's from all the issues around the casts and live free. For that to happen though Clarke knew she was going to need to stop hiding things from Finn and trust that he would trust her when she said she had everything here under her control.
It was what Clarke and her mum had always wanted for her, they had always worried about how she might be treated out in the world so they had wanted her to one day have a life where she lived as a Beta and had a happy life with another Beta. It was true Clark's first time living away from her mum had gone better than she had expected and she had made friends with Alpha's and Omega's easily enough but that didn't change her life goal to one day be living as an excepted Beta. Bellamy proved that interestingly, he was an Alpha who in spite of everything she did was able to tell her true cast and by her own admission he brought things out of Clarke that weren't the real her. Bellamy was a gentleman thankfully so it wasn't a big problem but Clarke knew that there were Alphas out there that weren't like Bellamy and there was no telling what would have happened in that scenario so Clarke was sure she was making the right choices in her life.
Interestingly as if the universe was trying to make some kind of point to Clarke as she came to this decision she noticed Bellamy's car moving towards her and a moment later he was pulling up right in front of her. 'Hay,' Bellamy called pushing the passenger side door open from wear he was sitting while Clarke stood there still a little stuck in her own head 'you ready to go princess.'
Hearing this seemed to resolve something within Clarke and as her internal confusion turned into a sense of release she smiled and leaning down she got in the car getting a blast of Bellamy's sent as she did so but she didn't really mind. Buckling herself up and closing the passenger side door Clarke waited for Bellamy to set off but he didn't the car remained where it was. Looking over at Bellamy confused Clarke saw him openly staring at her, his eyes were blown wide and he was looking her up and down gritting his teeth slightly as he did so clearly thinking things he wasn't supposed to be thinking when it came to her.
Unsure what to do Clarke just stared back taking Bellamy in and the way he was looking at her as she sat here. He looked good Clarke freely granted that, the white shirt he had on looked smooth and it contrasted well with the dark denim jacket Bellamy was always wearing a variant of. Bellamy himself looked good as well as he so often did with his bronze skin and dark messy hair which thankfully he had kept natural, Clarke really liked how Bellamy's hair was messy and curled all over the place.
This small staring match continued for a few minutes but eventually Bellamy said in a rather strangled breathless sounding voice 'I like your dress,' and pulled the car away beginning the drive rather determinedly looking at the road as he spoke.
'Thank you,' Clarke whispered looking down at her lap trying her best not to smile, that comment had sent butterfly's fluttering in her stomach and made both her inner Omega and Alpha very happy. All Omega's wanted to be complemented by their Alpha it was an instinctive thing but it was a little confusing to her that her inner Alpha was glowing with pride as well in this moment, so Clarke was very pleased when Bellamy turned some music on providing a much needed distraction for both of them.
The music was by Imagine Dragons, both of theirs favourite band so Clarke pushed complicated thoughts of whatever it was between her and Bellamy to one side and let her self-move with the music in her seat. Closing her eyes Clarke moved her head up and down to the tones of the music whispering the words to the song as she did so, these songs had always spoken to Clarke, it just felt to her that these songs got some of the stuff she had to deal with.
The two of them listened to a few songs in silence after that but eventually Bellamy broke the silence as they began to move in to the outskirts of the city. 'You know I met them once,' he remarked turning the car down a road lined with trees 'it was only for like a moment but it was pretty cool.'
'Really,' Clarke asked opening her eyes now and looking over at Bellamy surprised 'how did that happen?'
'It was this charity thing the Lightbourns were doing,' Bellamy shrugged noncommittally 'they wanted to bulk up the guest list a bit so I managed to get myself put on it and when I got there I snuck into the front section.'
'That's sneaky,' Clarke laughed really enjoying this story now 'and you weren't caught?'
'O, I was caught,' Bellamy sniggered 'but the man himself, Russel, he just laughed when he found out, he said it made the evening more interesting.'
Clarke was a little shocked by how freely Bellamy had just dropped the name Russel Lightbourn after all he was the head of one of the richest most powerful clans in the whole country but that wasn't what drew Clarkes attention at the present moment. 'So have you done a lot of that sort of stuff Bellamy then,' she asked 'go to concerts and stuff I mean?'
'Yeah, sure,' Bellamy said frowning now a confused look on his face 'haven't you?'
'No actually,' Clarke sighed immediately wishing she hadn't gone this direction with their conversation 'I've always wanted to see Imagine dragons live but the dangers of going to a concert have always been a concern.' Bellamy didn't respond to this right away but judging from his pursed lips and hardened jaw she could guess the sort of things he would probably like to say in response to her statement. Part of Clarke, the Alpha part wanted to jump on that and argue her side to him and say that however small he thought the risks were there was still a risk but she didn't, there was no need to start an argument about this.
Thankfully Bellamy seemed to come to the same decision, 'well if you ever want to go to a concert you can come with me and that way there would be no danger,' he said smiling a smile that was clearly forced. Clarke was going to respond to that but before she could Bellamy pulled the car off the main road and stopped it in front of a set of large imposing rather old looking gates 'here we are,' Bellamy remarked 'the ancestral home of the Blake family.'
I know that's an annoying place to end things but this chapter was long enough already and it did make sense with what I want to have next chapter.
Again sorry for how long it took me to post this but I hope it was worth the wait and that you will all be looking forward to next chapter. As always please leave your thoughts I would be really interesting to hear what you guys think about some of the A, B, O culture stuff I came up with this chapter.
