On with the show!
Jess wandered around the bunker. The past week had been insane. Sam had told her about hunting. Jess hated him for keeping that from her and took off for a couple days. While she was away, she started to slowly begin to understand. When she came back, everyone was gone and the bunker was trashed.
"Sam! Dean!" she called out walking up and down the hallways. "Hello? Anyone?"
The silence was deafening.
Jess jumped ten feet in the air when her phone finally rang.
"Oh my god Sam!" she said answering.
"Hey! Where are you right now?" he asked.
"Um I'm back at the bunker. Look Sam I'm-"
"Yeah, um, we can talk about that later. Just promise me you'll stay at the bunker."
"Of course. Sam, what's going on?"
"Um… We're uh…"
"We're on our way to have a baby," Dean jumped in.
Jess gasped. While having the hunting conversation, Sam also very briefly mentioned demons and angels. Jess actually ran out right after learning Lucifer, yes the Lucifer, had impregnated some random girl. Jess went to bible camp as a child. It didn't go well the first time, it wasn't going to go well the second time.
"It's time already?"
"Yes," Dean continued, "and we don't know what's going to happen so right now the bunker is the safest place for you, okay Jess?"
"Yeah. I'll hang out here. By myself."
"Beautiful. We'll call to check in when we know something okay?" Dean asked.
The boys said their goodbyes and hung up the phone. They were on their way to look into the house being rented by 'James Novak' hoping to find Kelly and Cas.
"Sounds like she's taking it well," Dean said.
"Yeah."
"Look Sammy, I don't know what you told her-"
"I told her everything."
"Well yeah but her leaving is-"
"Not my fault, yeah I know."
"Right and Jess isn't the first person-"
"To run out of the house and disappear for a couple of days without any contact?"
"Okay are you done interrupting me?" Dean snapped. Sam took a deep breath and exhaled quickly.
Sam was pissed that she ran out on them like that. Ran out on him. He worked so hard all those years ago to keep Jess out of his shit to protect her and it went all up in flames. Literally. And he hated nothing more than knowing that he literally had no choice in the matter. Jess had to know.
"Are you listening to me?" Dean asked.
"What? Yeah. Sure."
"Fucking hate chick flick moments and then I go telling you what to do about your girlfriend and you're not even fucking listening."
"I'm sorry. I'm too busy thinking about Lucifer's son here."
"Bullshit."
"And she's not my girlfriend."
The rest of the drive was silent.
Jess locked herself in her room and watched Netflix. All the shows she watched back during college were uploaded so of course she was watching them.
She didn't even notice how long it had been since she last heard from the guys until the bunker door slammed shut. That thing shook the whole bunker.
"Hey guys!" Jess sang as she ran out to greet them. She could sense right away something wasn't right.
Dean rushed right past her towards the bedrooms without even looking at her. Jess thought it was weird because he usually always greeted her.
"What happened?" she asked.
"A lot," Sam said, trying to force a laugh. Jess could tell he was really upset about something too.
"Hi," said a boy standing behind Sam.
"Jess, this is Jack. He's going to be staying here for a little bit. Jack, this is Jessica."
"Hi! Are you a friend of the guys?"
"Friend?" Jack asked, sounding confused at the word.
Sam cleared this throat.
"Remember that thing I told you about we were going to go find?"
Then it all clicked.
"Anyway, we're going to go clean up."
"Um I guess I'll make dinner for all of us. Are Mary and Cas on their way?"
Sam cringed hearing their names. Jess pretended she didn't see it. Sam led Jack towards the bedrooms and Jess ran into the kitchen. She dug out all of the ingredients for spaghetti. She didn't really feel like making something extreme but the guys looked like they needed something.
"Smells good," Sam said walking into the kitchen. He had showered and changed his clothes.
"Help yourself. I already ate."
Sam got down a bowl down and poured some in it. He took it back down the hall towards Dean's room. Of course the door was closed but Sam let himself in anyway. Dean was lying on his back with his headphones in, tapping his foot along to the music. Sam tapped him on the knee.
"Get out."
Sam grabbed one of the headphones and took it out of his ear.
"Jess made dinner."
"Not hungry."
"Not caring."
Dean put the headphone back in his ear. Sam took it out again.
"Dude can we talk about what happened earlier?"
Dean shot up and threw his ipod on the bed.
"You wanna talk? Sure. Let's talk about how Cas is most likely dead somewhere. Let's talk about how Mom is trapped in some alternate universe with Lucifer and we may never get her back again. Or shall we talk about how we have the actual spawn of Satan chilling in our home now?"
"Stranger things have happened," Sam said, trying to make a joke.
"Get out."
"Dean-"
"No! Get out!" Dean screamed, fumbling with his headphones trying to put them back in. Sam set the bowl on his desk before leaving.
Jess sat at the table in the kitchen watching Sam leave for Dean's room. One minute later she turned around and saw Jack coming in. He had changed too. Jess recognized his shirt as one of Sam's old ones from Stanford.
"Hey! You hungry?"
"Yes please."
"Sit down. I'll get you some."
Jack sat in the chair next to her as Jess got another bowl down for him.
"What is this?"
"It's spaghetti. It's literally just pasta and tomato sauce."
"I've never had spaghetti before. I've also never had nougat before but I liked that."
"What?" Jess asked, trying not to laugh.
"At the police station. The nice officer's son gave it to me."
"Why were you at the police station?"
"Because I was naked and they thought I was crazy."
Jess had more questions but stopped herself from asking them. Jack was, what, two days old now? Give or take?
"Dean wasn't hungry but he says thanks," Sam said as he came back into the kitchen.
"So what happened?"
Sam wanted to tell her but hesitated due to Jack.
"I'll tell you later. Promise."
"I'll hold you accountable to that."
Sam got himself a bowl and sat at the table across from Jack and Jess. The evening was spent laughing as Jack started to learn about new things, like how to use a fork and not get spaghetti on his clothes.
