On with the show!
A/N Taylor released Fearless, yall knew I had to do it
Jess dumped a pile of clean laundry on the bed. Between Jack now being a thing and the boys nonstop searching for Cas and Mary, things had gotten a little crazy at the bunker. And Jess specifically happened to notice how gross and dirty things seemed to be getting. So Jess decided that while Sam and Dean remained holed up in the library again that she would help out a little.
Jess plugged her earbuds into the jack on the phone and hit play on a new album she figured out how to download. Jess had heard a couple of the songs on the radio weeks ago and liked them so she bought it.
There's something about the way the street looks when it's just rained...
Jess bopped around her bed folding her laundry. By the time Fifteen, Love Story, and Hey Stephen finished, she was done and began putting all her clean clothes away.
Say you're sorry that face of an angel comes out just when you need it to...
"Damn," Jess whispered to herself. She moved on from laundry and into her personal bathroom and started tidying up in there. She had gone a little crazy with the makeup and hair products lately and they were starting to clutter on her sink. Jess threw her makeup into its rightful bag and all her hair ties and threw them in a drawer. She wrapped up the cord of her curling iron and placed it gently towards the side.
When You Belong With Me came on, Jess sang along into her hairbrush, dancing ridiculously in the mirror. If the boys walked in, she would have been so embarrassed.
I see your face in my mind as I drive away... Cause none of us thought it was gonna end that way...
Jess couldn't help but stop and listen carefully to the words of this one.
Music starts playing like the end of a sad movie
It's the kind of ending you don't really wanna see
Cause it's tragedy and it'll only bring you down
Now I don't know what to be without you around
Her mind played images of Sam and all the memories they had together at Stanford. She could only picture the things Sam must have done after that night. She wondered if this song would relate to him in the way she imagined it might.
Tell Me Why began to play and Jess snapped out of her daydream and wiped down her bathroom mirror and the counter before rearranging some of the items she had begun to collect, like candles.
God Jess loved her candles.
She swayed to You're Not Sorry as she went around her room gathering trash and collecting random items to put away in the proper places on shelves and in drawers.
The Way I Loved You was next and Jess reminisced about the time in high school she had two guys chasing her at the same time. Looking back, it was a dumb love triangle with seventeen year olds but back then you best believe it was a BIG deal. This one seemed to be more nostalgic than Fifteen that she had heard earlier. Probably because Jess didn't start officially dating until college.
Forever and Always came on and Jess lost her shit.
Oh man, that one just hit her differently.
That one was her favorite on the whole album.
The Best Day almost made her cry. The song made her miss her own mom and start to wonder what she was doing. If she still mourned for Jess or if she had moved on. Her mind wandered to her dad and how he might be reacting. And then of course to her little sister, who was Jess' best friend in the whole world.
And then Change came on, once again snapping Jess out of her thoughts. Jess gathered some of the empty cups accumulating in her room and carried everything out downstairs to be put away there. She threw the dishes in the sink and started washing them while dancing as the instrumental of the song played out. When the song ended, Jess hit replay and started the whole album over again.
A tap on the shoulder startled her.
"Whoa!" Sam said when Jess whipped out. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
Jess obviously couldn't hear him over the music so she took one of the earbuds out.
"What?" she asked him.
"Whatcha listening to?"
"I don't know. Everywhere I looked online was talking about this girl so I got her album. She's really good!"
"Who is it?"
"Uhhhh... Taylor something?" Jess said, fumbling with her phone to pull up.
"Taylor Swift?"
"Yeah!"
"Oh my g-"
Sam couldn't even finish what he was saying, he was laughing so hard.
"What?" Jess asked laughing along with him.
"Oh man don't say that around Dean," Sam answered, beginning to collect himself.
"Why?"
"Well... He claims he hates pop music. Whole 'all music after 83 sucks ass' sorta thing, right? But we did a hunt where a witch turned him back into a teenager and ever since then, I've caught him once or twice humming along."
"That's hilarious," Jess said, not ignoring that Sam just casually mentioned Dean turning back into a teenager because of a witch. But more on that later... "Her music is so... girly though!"
"I mean, yeah, duh but it's not all bad."
"Wait a second, do you like her music?"
Sam was caught off guard by her question.
"W-w-well I-I mean if it c-c-comes on the radio, I won't... change it?"
"SAM!" Jess squealed before busting out laughing. Sam smiled and his face turned red. Jess didn't notice.
"Laugh all you want. You started this."
"I did not!"
"Yes you did!"
"Did not!"
"Did too!"
"Nuh uh!"
"Yuh huh!"
They began to chase each other around the kitchen as they continued to tease each other. At one point, Jess' phone flew out of her pocket and slide under the counter near Sam's feet. He bent down and picked it up for her.
There they stood. In the middle of the kitchen. Catching their breaths. Staring into each other's eyes.
And guess which Taylor song happened to conveniently play at this moment?
"What the hell are you two screaming about in here?" Dean asked, walking in from the library.
Sam quickly handed Jess the phone, which Jess quickly took back.
"I discovered Taylor Swift," she said, wrapping her earbuds around the phone.
"Sammy this girl gotta go!"
"What you got against Taylor man?" Sam joked.
"What?"
"Yeah Dean, what did Taylor ever do to you?" Jess asked, joining in on the fun.
Dean was at a loss for words. He wanted so badly to say something but had absolutely no idea what.
"W-w-what type of game are you two trying to play?"
"Just spit it out Dean!" Sam continued to tease. "What's your favorite album of hers?"
Dean looked down at his feet.
Sam continued to stare at him waiting for a response.
Jess threw her hand over her mouth to help stifle her laughter.
"Red," Dean mumbled before scurrying out of the room.
Sam and Jess both screamed.
"Okay, I'm listening to that one next!" Jess said.
