Long Live BRUCAS: I've been going back and forth with Sam's nightmares being visions or simply just being nightmares. I'm thinking just nightmares... And Dean better start figuring something out.

On with the show!
Dean struggled to focus in Ms. Alden's English class. It was his last class period for the day and, like many eighth-graders, he was done with the school day.
"Dean?" Ms. Alden called after the bell rang. "Can you hang back a bit?"
Several ooos and snickers rose from the students as they left the classroom. Dean didn't pay them any attention and gathered his items. He threw his backpack over his shoulder and walked over to her desk.
"What's up?"
"I wanted to talk to you about this." Ms. Alden held up a book report. Dean groaned and mentally kicked himself at the giant red D above his name. "What is this?"
Dean struggled to think of an answer. He hung his head and lightly kicked his foot in nervousness.
"Dean, I know things are rough right now, and I know school has never been your thing, but you can do better than this!" Ms. Alden said in an encouraging tone. Dean felt so embarrassed, and Ms. Alden's gentle, soothing tone was not helping him. "Did you read the book?"
"I did! I swear!" Dean screamed. "And I tried to write the report but it was the first weekend at Dad's and Sammy was having a hard time so Dad kept trying to get us to do things together to make him feel better and I just..."
Dean forced himself to stop talking to avoid getting more upset. Ms. Alden sighed.
"Dean, you know you can't participate in extracurriculars if you continue to get grades like this."
"I know," Dean said quietly. "I'm sorry."
Ms. Alden tucked her hair behind her ear.
"Tell you what... I will give you one week to redo this. It's a good start, it just needs a little bit more detail. Think you can do that?"
"Yes!" Dean said eagerly. "I promise I will get it done!"
Ms. Alden smiled sweetly and handed him the report. Dean took it quickly and shoved it in his backpack.
"And Dean... I'm here if you ever want to talk. About anything."
Dean nodded and thanked his teacher. He made his way to the office where his mom was printing out copies of Sam's birthday party invitations.
"Hey baby," she greeted. She noticed something didn't seem right with him. "What's wrong?"
Dean shrugged it off. Mary eyed her son for a second.
"Here. I can put you to work cutting these."
Dean took a handful of invitations and grabbed a pair of scissors. He jumped up on one of the counters and started cutting invitations in half. Mary walked out of the copy room to go finish more work in the office before they left for the day.
"Would you like to come help?" Mary asked, pulling up outside Sam's school. Dean shook his head. "Okay. Be back in a few."
She left the key in the ignition to run the air conditioner for him. Dean watched her walk away towards the direction of Sam's classroom. As soon as she was far enough away, he started fidgeting with the radio dials. He pulled out the essay for Ms. Alden and started reading her comments. And man, were there a lot of comments. Dean had a lot of rewriting to do.
Dean jumped at the sound of the car door behind him suddenly being thrown open.
"Hi Dean!" Sam shouted right in Dean's ear as he climbed into the car.
"Hey Sammy."
"Look!" Sam shoved an extra invite right in Dean's face.
"I saw. Very cool," Dean answered nonchalantly. He waved Sam's hand away.
"Do you think I should have chocolate cake or vanilla cake with rainbow sprinkles?"
Dean pretended to think about it. "What about pie?"
"I don't want pie!"
"Too late," Dean teased. "Mom already bought one."
Sam gasped dramatically. "Mom!" he screamed when Mary got into the car.
"Yes, Sammy?" Mary asked, debating if she even wanted to know why he was screaming.
"Dean said you bought a pie for my party!"
Mary looked over at her oldest, who was currently trying so hard to hide his smirk.
"I promise I didn't get you pie," she said to assure him. "We're having cake remember?"
Sam immediately relaxed in his seat. "Can we do cupcakes?" he asked, starting to get excited.
"If you want to bake them," Mary answered, starting the car and driving away from the school.
Sam cheered in the backseat. "Dean, wanna help me bake cupcakes?"
Dean snorted. "No."
"Pleeeease?"
Dean made the mistake of turning around in his seat. Of course, Sam was doing his stupid puppy dog eyes. "Ugh fine."
Sam cheered again.
"What's that?" Mary asked Dean, who still had his book report out.
"My Huck Finn report," Dean answered.
Curious, Sam peered his head around the seat to see. "YOU GOT A D!?" he gasped, spotting the bright red letter on the front.
Without hesitation, Dean whipped around and swung at Sam. But Sam was quicker than him and laid down on the seat to avoid his fist.
"Shut up and mind your own business stupid!" Dean yelled at Sam.
"Dean!" Mary scolded.
"You got a D but I'm stupid?" Sam yelled back.
"Sam!"
Dean all but jumped in the backseat and strangled the kid.
"Enough!" Mary said. She grabbed Dean's arm and turned him back around in his seat. "What got into you?"
Dean huffed and shoved his paper back in his backpack. Sam pissed him off so much sometimes, he hated it. Not to mention, in his mind, Sam is the reason he got a D on his paper anyway.
"Don't worry. Ms. Alden is letting me re-doing it."
"Damn right you're re-doing it. What were you thinking?"
"I tried to do it at Dad's but..."
"But what? Is it hard to study at Dad's? Do I need to talk to him?"
"No! Please don't!" Dean begged.
"Well Dean, if you're not getting your homework done-"
"I'll get it done! I promise! It was just one bad weekend!"
"Sammy?" Mary asked. Sam popped his head up from the backseat. "What about you?"
"What?" Sam asked, pretending like he totally wasn't eavesdropping.
"You get your homework done at Dad's?"
Sam nodded. "Uh huh! He even helped me!"
"He did not!" Dean said. School was not really John and Dean's thing, like it was for Mary and Sam. Dean knew that's why he was in the military and now a mechanic. He wouldn't help his kid with homework.
"Yes, he did! You just weren't there!"
Dean rolled his eyes and scoffed.
