Chapter 5

Awakening

With a single slash of Raikiri, Kelly relived the Goliath of its head. While most huntsman weapons were ineffective, the Mason Twins's weapons were slicing through their hides with ease. This was partially due to Raikirk's plasma edge and Masamune's high-frequency capabilities, but more due to the Mason Twins' superhuman strength that was absurd even by Remnant's standards. They retained the muscle strength of a Raikou in human form, and this made them lethal combatants with their martial arts training.

Soon enough, every Goliath was dispatched, there was still a significant amount of lesser grimm, but in combination with air support and the local huntsman, the threat had nearly subsided.

Little did they know that the true focus of the battle was happening at Beacon…

"The queen...Salem?" Qrow questioned.

Tyrian nodded and replied, "yes...I think we've had enough talk, don't you?"

"Took the words right out of my.." Qrow had no time to finish as Tyrian rushed at him. The younger Branwen twin blocked both of Tyrian's arm blades with Harbinger's long handle.

After shoving him off, Qrow slashed at his opponent, but Tyrian jumped back and flicked his wrist, causing a clicking sound as hot lead erupted from the hidden machine guns on his wrist.

Qrow narrowly dodged the hail of bullets as he switched Harbinger to sword mode. Tyrian was simply too fast to effectively use his scythe.

The two clashed repeatedly, evenly matched for the most part, but Tyrian was clearly getting frustrated, screaming in anger as the fight went on. Tired of the stalemate, Tyrian decided to show the rest of his arsenal.

Tyrian threw off his brown jacket, earning a gasp from Qrow as he revealed his Faunus heritage, a massive black scorpion tail.

"SURPRISE!" Tyrian taunted as he stabbed his tail towards his opponent.

Qrow parried as best as he could, but Tyrian's lightning-fast punches and kicks combined with this new appendage were overwhelming his defenses.

Tyrian sucker-punched Qrow in the stomach before delivering a chop to his chest with a glowing purple hand. Tyrian's semblance sliced right through Qrow's aura, completely deactivating it in the process. With a boot to the head, the crazed scorpion Faunus finally knocked out his opponent.

Tyrian shook his head and headed towards the still unconscious Fall Maiden, but before he could lay a single finger on her, a high-caliber sniper bullet hit him in the back, causing his purple aura to flash for a moment.

The scorpion Faunus turned in rage to see Ruby Rose pointing her sniper at him, with an angry scowl on her face.

"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Tyrian screamed as he rushed at Ruby, dodging her sniper bullets and activating his semblance. Ruby had no idea what was about to happen; with Tyrian's semblance and stinger, he could fatally envenomate her in the blink of an eye.

Qrow managed to get up and saw what was about to happen; he acted without thinking, moving faster than the eye could see. He shoved Ruby down, knocking her away and taking the sting with no aura to protect him.

Ruby looked in horror at the poisonous purple liquid dripping from a slash in her Uncle's chest as he fell to the ground, twitching.

Tyrian smiled and turned to the young huntress laughing, but his voice died in his throat as soon as he saw what color her eyes were.

Ruby's silver eyes burned with hatred before they began to glow; just then, Zander and Nia arrived on the scene.

Tyrian backed up in fear as Ruby screamed, "UNCLE QROW!" causing a burst of white light to erupt from her eyes, blinding everyone within a mile radius and turning all nearby grimm to stone.

When it cleared, Tyrian was looking around in a daze as his vision came back; he managed to get his bearings and saw ruby unconscious on the ground.

"FOR OUR GODDESS!" Tyrian announced as he tried to sting Ruby with his tail. Luckily Nia had covered her eyes instinctually before the bright light and had already drawn one of her tonfas. The light from Ruby had somehow shattered her illusion, revealing a zoroark with her tonfa holsters attached to her legs.

In less than a second, Nia slashed at Tyrian, cutting his tail in half, causing him to scream in agony and fall to his knees as the disconnected half of his tail squirmed like a dying snake. There was no venom coming out as the Shadow Crescent's laser edge had cauterized it instantly.

"YOU BITCH!" Tyrian roared; just then, a multicolored portal appeared beneath him, removing him from the battle before anything else could be done.

Nia was still in combat mode, but as the adrenaline wore off, she looked down and quickly reapplied her illusion.

Ruby was unconscious, and Qrow's breaths were getting slower and slower; Zander had finally regained his sight and telepathically called the Mason Twins.

As the duo appeared in a flash of lightning, they saw Qrow and immediately ran up to him, kneeling next to him as Headmistress Goodwitch and the remainder of Team JNPR arrived.

The newly arrived Huntsman and Huntresses tried to move towards Qrow, only for Zander to yell, "STAY BACK!"

Everyone froze in place, the Mason Twins had no time to spare, and they were Qrow's only chance.

"You do aura, I'll do shocks," Charlie ordered as Kelly was feeling his heartbeat; it had just stopped.

Kelly's hands glowed blue before she ran it over the gash on Qrow's chest.

Charlie rubbed his hands together and said, "3...2..1 CLEAR!" causing Qrow's chest to rise and his arms to twitch. Kelly had briefly removed her hands to ensure the electricity didn't accidentally flow into her since they naturally attracted it like lighting rods.

Kelly deactivated the blue glow and felt Qrow again before saying, "HIT HIM AGAIN, MORE JUICE."

Charlie nodded rapidly and rubbed his hands together even more, causing sparks to fly from his hands as he exceeded the charge of a real defibrillator.

"3...2..1 CLEAR!" Charlie yelled as he hit Qrow again, this time; however, Qrow's eyes opened, and he gasped before passing out again; the Mason twins had restarted his heart in the nick of time.

Both twins pumped more of their blue aura into the wound, causing Qrow's chest to glow as they stitched up the nerve damage.

Both twins gave a smile as they stood up and said, "he's gonna be fine, but he'll need rest."

Everyone present sighed in relief but then turned their attention to Ruby, awestruck at what she had done…..

After dismissing Tyrian from the conference room of her castle, Salem turned to Lupin and said, "A silver-eyed warrior, the ancient enemy of the grimm…"

Lupin was looking at a cloud of smoke that formed an image of Beacons's courtyard. Salem's seer on the rooftops was already turned to stone, but it had managed to send a video of the blast before being killed.

Darkrai's subordinate was smirking under his hood as he said, "it boggles the mind...Your world doesn't just have a unique energy source in dust, that power...I have only seen it from one other being, and she has it!"

"There are silver-eyed warriors in your world?" Salem questioned.

Lapin shook his head and said, "No, but what that power did to the grimm, we call it white matter, and there is no greater energy source in the multiverse..an associate of my master will be most pleased with this discovery."

Salem's red eyes narrowed as she asked, "he could extract it? For what purpose?"

Lupin gave a dark chuckle and smugly replied, "the associate of my master has designed a way to capture energy similar to it….if I can be around when she used this power again, I could capture some of it!"

"And then?" Salem pressed

Lupin turned to her and said, "then, in combination with your dust crystals, a weapon with unimaginable power can finally be created!"

Author's notes- Silver eyes! the next chapter will be a 2-3 month time jump, a few things to note

1. Did you all like Qrow vs Tyrian? I know it was rather short, but there was very little I could do with it.

2. Silver eyes lore is obviously a little different, more on that later...

3. Lupin is referencing something for my next new story, and I'm excited to announce that it will start after volume 4 concludes, so another hiatus in a bit,
