Chapter 2

Exposed

Raven sat in her tent as Watts and Lupin came in. She was still stunned that Lupin could sense the Spring Maiden's energy.

"We are planning an attack on Haven, If you open the vault and give us the relic, we will leave your tribe alone" Watts offered.

Raven shook her head and said, "how do I know you're not going to kill us all once I give you what you want?"

Lupin chuckled and replied "I suppose you don't, but if you weigh the options, you and your tribe stand a much better chance of surviving if you cooperate"

Raven's hand reached for her sword only for Lupin to say "Consider your next actions very carefully, given what happened at Beacon you must know that the Maiden's are not at the top of the power chain in this world anymore"

The leader of the Branwen tribe grunted in anger but relaxed her grip and said "Fine, but my brother will be at Haven to claim the key to the vault's elevator. We will need to take care of him"

"I hope you don't expect us to assure his safety…" Lupin began.

Raven shook her head and replied "I want him dead, he's a traitor to the tribe and he'll likely put up a considerable fight"

"We can make that happen, we'll send a portal to pick you up, alone" Lupin explained.

"What kind of timeframe are we on? Don't we have to consider students and local huntsmen?" Raven questioned

Watts waved his head and said "you needn't worry about that, in two weeks' time the students will leave for summer break, that is when Qrow will claim Leo's pocket watch. That night the White Fang will lock down the school grounds and prepare to destroy the CCT Tower. With the field clear we can walk in and walk out with any resistance besides Qrow"

"Fine, we have a deal" Raven conceded.

Lupin and Watts nodded before a portal opened behind them, Watts gave a taunting smirk before leaving with Lupin, vanishing into thin air.

"This cannot get any worse" Raven muttered under her breath.

Just then, as if the universe wanted to prove her wrong, Vernal came in and said "Raven, someone else is here at the gate, she's on a yellow motorcycle, and says she's your daughter…."

Outside the stadium, dozens of people were pouring in to see the Schnee Dust company's charity concert. This was the largest and most expensive venue in Atlas, only the best for Jacques Schnee.

A few blocks away in an alley the Mason Twins were waiting impatiently with duffle bags slung over their shoulders. Right on time, a portal opened, revealing a Zoroark slightly larger than Nia, but with the same white highlights in his mane as her. This Zoroark was also named Connor, but for the sake of clarity around the watcher and his allies, he wished to simply be referred to as Z.

"Anything new we need to know?" Kelly asked as Z opened a large metal case, revealing four metal bracelets that were gleaming silver rings.

Z nodded and said "yea, your glamor charms are built-in now, these are sleeker and half the weight. They also calibrated to shifting better as well"

Charlie smiled and said, "that's an upgrade" before reaching for his wrists, but then he hesitated.

Kell gave a nervous look as well, the only time they had ever taken off the inhibitor rings around their wrist was in a safe pocket dimension Professor Malcolm had set up.

The Mason twins' power was far more than even what they demonstrated against the Wyvern. Something in the powers they inherited from their mother had a hereditary trait never seen before by Z or Professor Malcolm. A Raikou already had enough power to spawn a severe thunderstorm in seconds, but their mother had exceeded that. Her powers were above even that, genetically engineered to get stronger over time, and that made her children even stronger than her. Even with their inhibitor rings on, a single one of the mason twins had enough power to level a small city in a single blast of electricity. That was their maximum output and would render them unconscious though since the rings worked by bottlenecking the amount of power they could use at once.

After enough confident looks from Z, both Mason twins clicked the rings off their wrists which fell to the ground as they loosened slightly. The old ones looked like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle vaguely forming a ring, They then took off their glamor charms, revealing their unconcealed human forms. Both of them looked no older than 12, and their clothes were now comically oversized. The glamour charms basically formed a bubble of psychic energy, so their disguised human forms were able to be touched like real skin. Shifters tended to age slower already, but their legendary pokemon DNA slowed their aging to a near standstill. Both of them wouldn't look like actual teenagers for half a century more.

Sparks were already forming around them as they put on the new inhibitor rings and closed their eyes, soon enough they were back to their teenage appearance and their standard outfits fit again.

Z smiled and said "working like a charm, good luck at the party!"

As the Zoroark vanished into another portal, the Mason Twins reached into their duffle bags retrieving the formal outfits needed to blend in. Charlie and Kelly turned their backs to each other and quickly switched clothes. This wasn't awkward for the brother and sister, though and soon enough Charlie was wearing a black suit with a yellow tie while Kelly was wearing a long, purple sleeveless dress.

The two shifters put on their watches and shoes before walking out of the alley and towards the party, hiding their duffle bags within a hole in a wall. The duo slipped into the crowd effortlessly. They had to watch the concert so they fit in at the gala afterward. As they took their seats, Kelly almost tripped on her shoes.

"Deathtraps…" Kelly muttered under her breath. Despite all the training in both espionage from the MDIA and formal customs from their late parents, she still hated walking in heels...
