Chapter 5
Deceit
Yang sat down as Vernal offered her a cup of tea; she didn't even look at it as the bandit took up a place in the corner of the tent.
"So why did you leave me?" Yang asked again.
Raven shook her head and replied, "to answer that, there are some things you need to know first. How much do you know about Ozpin?"
"He was a prodigy, the youngest headmaster to ever be appointed at Beacon," Yang mentioned offhandedly.
Raven scowled and said, "because he orchestrated it that way, have you ever wondered why so many people trust him? That's because old man Oz is much older than he looks, and every time he dies, he finds a new host."
"Are you kidding me? Why should I believe that? It sounds like a bad fairy tale," Yang scoffed.
"Like the fairytale about Silver eyed warriors striking Grimm down with a gaze? What do you think that burst of light your sister used on that grim attack a few weeks back was?" Raven countered.
Yang looked away, but Raven had a point; Ruby's power was very mysterious, or at least how Tai and Qrow had described it to her.
"Ok, let's say I believe that? Why does Oz reincarnate? Why do the other headmasters crowd around him?" Yang inquired.
"And there it is! Once you start asking questions, you realize how much you don't know, and more questions arise. Oz reincarnates because he has been failing for centuries, trying to stop one entity. The mistress of the Grimm, Salem," Raven revealed.
Yang gave a confused look and said, "Mistress of the Grimm? Reincarnation? Science and aura can't explain those things! How can you? Because if you can't explain it, why should I believe it?"
Raven sighed and said, "fair enough, seeing in believing, so why don't you come out back, and I'll show you what Ozpin did to my brother and me so we could be more effective spies."
"Go see for yourself," Vernal suggested, causing Yang to glare at her and follow her mother.
As she exited the tent, her mother was nowhere to be found, but then she heard a bird caw. Looking up, Yang saw a black raven.
"I've... seen that bird before," Yang muttered.
The raven dove down from the dusk-colored sky, flying and weaving between the trees, before shapeshifting into Raven herself in a burst of black feathers. Raven landed back on the ground on her feet.
Yang's jaw dropped as she asked, "How... did you do that?"
Raven smirked and replied, "the same way Ozpin reincarnates, magic."
Yang's face was blank; her mother was telling the truth after all.
"Stay with me; I'll answer all your questions and more; we can have a fresh start," Raven offered before pulling out Omen and slashing the air, causing a portal to appear.
Yang looked at the portal in surprise and said, "what, where does that go?"
"Back to your uncle, you can go and join your uncle and sister in Ozpin's impossible war against Salem and meet the same fate Summer did," Raven revealed.
Yang's eyes flashed red, not at her mother but at the realization of Summer's fate.
"I'm gonna get some answers from those two, then decide," Yang admitted as she walked off and rode her motorcycle up to the portal.
"Don't throw away your life Yang, even if you don't come back to me, ask yourself, can you really trust someone who hid so much from you?" Raven argued.
Yang looked at her mother with a nod and left….
Blake, her parents, and Sun were sitting at the table for dinner when Blake heard a shuffling outside.
"I think we have a…." Blake had no time to finish as the wall exploded, knocking everyone to the floor.
Within seconds Blake felt something wrap around her, and when the smoke cleared, she and her family were bound by spider silk. Several white fang soldiers and a blue-haired spider Faunus were holding them all hostage.
The Albain brothers arrived, and behind them was a Faunus girl wearing a black jumpsuit and a white fang mask. On her exposed arms and legs were dotted spots almost resembling scales.
"Illia…" Blake scoffed.
Illia took off her mask and said, "take her to Adam!"
Blake watched in horror as a firing squad arrived, but then every White Fang member present began to look around wildly and proceeded to shoot each other in the legs.
"Get AWAY!" Illia shouted as she used her whip on the Albain brothers, who had already slashed their soldiers in the back. The burst of electricity shattering their aura's and knocked them out.
Within a single minute, the squad of soldiers and their leaders had turned on each other and taken themselves out.
Out of thin air, a teen in a black trenchcoat and armored grey pants appeared; Blake recognized her face and said, "wait, Luna Onyx! You're a Faunus? What are you doing here?"
Nia shook her head and replied, "that was an alias, my name is Nia, and I was here to bring you back to Vale."
The disguised Zoroark pulled out her tonfas and cut the Belladonna family and Sun loose; just then, the Menagerie guard arrived, cuffing the white fang soldiers and taking them away.
"But you're not?" Sun questioned.
"No, I've been tapping White Fang communications for weeks; Adam is planning an attack on the Haven Academy CCT. Local huntsmen are already mostly gone for summer. More importantly, Corsac and Fennec sabotaged the local tower, so we can't make any calls," Nia finished.
"What do we do then?" Blake asked.
Nia held out her hand, causing a portal to open, and replied, "You and Sun can come with me; we'll need all the help you can get"
Blake looked at her father, who gave a smile and said, "you're needed elsewhere; we'll be fine!"
Blake nodded and followed Nia into the portal, with Sun trailing behind.
All three appeared in Beacon's courtyard, where Ruby, Team JNPR, Qrow, and now Weiss were waiting.
"Blake!" Ruby exclaimed.
The cat Faunus hung her head, only for Weiss and Ruby to run up and hug her, saying, "I know that you ran away because you were scared of the White Fang, but we're stronger together!"
Weiss nodded, she and Ruby had talked about this beforehand, and now only one member of Team RWBY was missing.
On cue, a red portal opened with the hum of a motorcycle, and out came Yang in her new outfit. A tan jacket with orange lining and gold edging, unzipped halfway to show an orange crop top. The coat had darker brown short sleeves, a thick collar that completely encircled her neck, and two long gold-trimmed rectangular tails. She also wore tight fitted black pants,
Ruby smiled and said, "Yang! It's so good to see you."
Yang's eyes were burning red, to the point where she didn't even acknowledge Blake or Weiss as she pointed at Qrow and said, "WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US THE TRUTH!"
Qrow took a defensive stance as he questioned, "what do you mean? What did Raven tell you?"
Yang's hair started to burn as she fumed more and more, finally saying, "She told me that Ozpin sent Summer, my second mother, to her DEATH!"
Author's note- an intense cliffhanger, to be sure:)
1. Raven convincing Yang was more interesting to me, and since she knows about Summer given what she said at Haven, she knows what happened. You want to turn Yang against Oz and Qrow, that's how you do it
2. Yup Blake and the rest of Team RWBY are back together, but it'll be far from Yang's concern.
3. Illia is going to jail, as much as I like the scene of Blake convincing her, that doesn't change her past actions, more importantly, if one good talk was enough to change her mind on bloody revenge then her belief in the cause wasn't very strong, to begin with
