Chapter 6

From Beyond The Stars

Everyone staggered into Z's lab, as the Zoroark was double-checking his calculations.

"It's seven in the morning..what could possibly be so important?" Weiss questioned. Nia had roused them from their sleep, telling them nothing but to head to the lab.

Malcolm appeared in his signature green flash and said "the fact that this entire continent may be wiped off the map"

Everyone instantly focused up, the Mason twins letting off a few sparks as they jump-started their adrenaline and bodies.

Ironwood's hologram then appeared next to Z's console and said "I hope you have a good reason for suddenly ordering me to scramble every nearby jet to evacuation procedures"

The general's annoyance died in his throat as soon as he saw the image Z was displaying. A massive black orb flying through space, all over its surface were indentets that looked like missile silos, and the fire from a massive array of engines was visible behind it. Not only that, but it was clear parts of the shell were segmented to open up, likely revealing more weapons. Near the top was a glass window that likely served as the bridge, though said glass looked to be at least 10 feet thick given the curvature of the ship.

"This arrived in space about 5 hours ago, by my current estimation it will arrive in orbit in t-minus three hours," Z explained. He was so certain that this was an error in his scopes and readings that he had spent the last few hours double and triple-checking things before raising the alarm.

"Qrow, I need you and the local huntsman to get civilians rounded up to the landing zones"Ironwood ordered. Qrow nodded and turned to Yang, saying "Stay here with Z"

Yang gave a concerned and flapped onto a nearby table, Z gave Qrow a dead serious look and said "ill keep her safe, I promise"

As Malcolm then turned to team JNPR and said "I need the three of you to go help Qrow, Pyrrah, you will be needed here though"

Pyrrha gave a look to her team, who were waiting for her response, she took a deep breath and said "go, we need to do our parts"

Juane then motioned for Ren and Nora to follow as they raced out after Qrow.

"So, do we have any idea who's controlling that thing?" Weiss questioned.

Z nodded and pulled up an image of Damien.

"Damien Galashnikov is the shadow collective's most brutal enforcer and the newest general. He has the ability to turn into a Zygarde, a legendary pokemon with power over nature itself" Z explained as he pulled up an image of a Zyguard, a large green, snake-like pokemon.

Malcolm then looked to Pyrrah and Weiss saying "Weiss, Pyrrah, your ice attacks are extremely effective against Damien. I will be warping you two, Nia, and the Mason Twins aboard to stop him"

"And you cannot help us more than that because?" Weiss questioned.

Malcolm shook his head and replied "as i explained before, my powers are much weaker in Remnant. That weapon is nearly as large as your moon if it was a complete sphere and the collateral damage from destroying it will be catastrophic if not done precisely, but help will be coming"

Pyrrah tilted her head and asked "help?, and where is Zander"

"Zander is on earth 161, recruiting some help from a pair of powerful pokemon who have dealt with Damien before" Malcolm admitted.

Z then turned to his lab station and retrieved two items that resembled wristwatches.

The Mason twins took the watches as Z explained "Malcolm will get you up there…but best to have a break glass teleport back here. If you need to use them, make sure you grab on to Weiss and Pyrrha before you activate them.

The Zoroark then went back to his table and opened a drawer revealing a black duffle bag. He opened it up, causing a blue glow to appear on his face and sat it on a table.

Nia smiled as she realized what her father was giving them. Charlie was the programmer, but Z's specialty was gadgets, and this was one of his best inventions.

Charlie walked up to the bag, and within were a dozen devices the size of an apple. The objects were blue orbs made out of segmented octagons, and a red button on the top.

"Cryo grenades developed from studying the legendary Pokemon Articuno's freezing abilities…these are perfect for Damien" Nia explained.

Kelly zipped up the bag, and nodded, admitting "Damien is immune to electrical attacks, so these will come in handy"

Yang flapped her wings while making some noises, only for Malcolm to shake his head and reply "I'm sorry Yang, but you are far too vulnerable as you are now, even if you knew how to use your fire abilities, it's too dangerous." Malcolm's words earned a nod from around the room.

"You are going to have to rely on us this time" Weiss told her in the kindest voice she could muster.

The Talonflame's red eyes scowled at everyone present before turning away from them in anger. Yang had no choice but to sit this one out…

Damien sat in the chair at the helm of his ship, smiling as he continued towards's remnant. The helm was a massive spherical room with nothing but a chair and projectors in the ceiling for holographic displays. He was wearing a headpiece, consisting of three black bands and red lights over his forehead and ears. The ship was controlled by his thoughts, from the engines to all the weapons. While they may have seemed like a design flaw, it was quite the opposite.

After years of training, he had fully mastered a Zyguard's ability to divide and regenerate cells. His human form, despite looking completely normall aside from the eyes, was nothing but of millions of green cells, around the size of a fingernail that he controlled at once. His consciousness resided in a single red cell, that could transfer to any one of the green ones at will. Thus he could divide into multiple formed bodies that acted as extensions of himself. He simply preferred to look human and stay in one place at a time. He could also change the size and composition of his cells, his leather jacket and clothes were made of real fabrics, he had simply learned to precisely adjust their structure. Thanks to his unique physiology, he could process information thousands of times faster than an average human if he focused more of his cells to brainpower. The headpiece also granted a security failsafe, as the strain would fry the nervous system of any normal person in seconds.

He was interrupted from his controls by a dimensional hole opening, revealing none other than Darkrai.

Damien stood up and pressed a button on his black chair, allowing the ship's built-in artificial intelligence to take over as he took off the control helmet.

"You seem to have lost the element of surprise…I am impressed with this ship's potential, but I want a good display of its power" Darkrai requested.

Damien gave an annoyed look and said "Unfortunately the ship portal generation wasn't calibrated correctly, mostly due to lack of testing, but you will have a display of it's power for sure"

Darkrai nodded, but warned "Given what you've told me, this ship can likely slag a plant's surface with enough time…however, destroying a planet is a dangerous escalation we are not ready for…you will not do so without my explicit permission…Understood"

"Of course, once we are in range, I will only attack a portion of the continent as planned" Damien assured him before Darkrai vanished into the dimensional hole, instantly closing it. Darkrai was right, destroying a planet would undoubtedly provoke a direct attack from Professor Malcolm, the risk of collateral damage was protection they couldn't afford to lose, at least for now...
