Chapter 8

Within the Weapon

The Zavoyevatel's assault was unrelenting, but Zander's shield was still holding. The volley of blood-red lasers had no signs of slowing down.

The two dragons were strafing the ship with blasts of fire and electricity respectively. While normal flames and lighting couldn't form in space, the dragons' attacks were derived from pure plasma that they generated within themselves.

"I'm not sure how much damage we're doing in the grand scheme of things, but Zander is behind his shield so he can maintain focus on guarding the planet's surface, while Alisa and I seem to have Damien's attention." Nathan messaged Z via telepathy.

"you're making a dent in the shields, keep up the pressure" Z responded

Damien gritted his teeth as the attacks shook the ship, his shields wouldn't hold up indefinitely, and the two dragons were certainly putting up a better fight than he had expected to face.

Just then an alarm went off, causing Damien to order "on-screen" where he saw a display of the Mason Twins, Nia, Weiss and Pyrrha running down the hall leading towards the reactor.

"They must have teleported onboard, scramble security bots and seal off the reactor room" Damien ordered before turning his attention back to the battle.

Just as the reactor room was in sight, heavy blast doors sealed in front of the team.

"Of course" Kelly groaned.

Charlie shook his head and said, "there's always a way to lock down a reactor in the doomsday ship.."

Weiss realized what their tone was implying and asked "this isn't your first doomsday ship situation?"

The Mason twins gave the two of them a piercing glare that caused the two huntresses to instantly change the subject with Pyrrah asking "can you try to get through it?"

Charlie nodded and pulled out the murasama, setting it to max power before stabbing it into the door. He then tried pulling it to the side to cut a hole but the blade was barely making progress.

"Reinforced titanium…smelted with carbon, even with the high-frequency blade at full power, it'll take a bit, find the bridge and hit Damien with as many ice attacks as you can" Charlie ordered.

Everyone nodded and turned around to leave, only to see four of the security droids arriving. They were seven feet tall, with bulky armor that made them resemble a cross between a knight and a helmeted shogun. They had glowing red eyes and were holding poles that had sparks of red electricity on both ends.

Pyrrha sent out a blast of fire, while Nia went for electricity, but the droids were completely unphased and began spinning their electro staffs, their metal hands turning a full 360 degrees, as they used the staffs to box their opponents in.

Pyrrha drew her weapons, deflecting the poles with her shield while Weiss used her glyphs to block the attacks. It took a stab directly in the neck and her maiden power enhanced her strength to pop their heads off.

"I'll stay here, get going" Nia reminded them as she drew her tonfas and cut down a bot. The shadow crescents plasma blades doing their job to the letter. Charlie's blade had made about half a foot of progress so far.

The trio headed off down another hall to the nearest elevator, but the door slammed shut in front of them, and a hologram of Damien appeared in front of them.

"Well well, if it isn't one of the Mason Twins" Damien stated smugly, completely disregarding Pyrrah and Weiss.

Kelly scowled and said "too scared to face us yourself?"

Damien gave an annoyed look and replied "as much as id enjoy crushing your skulls, I'm afraid I have other business to attend to, so you three will be contained where you are"

They were then boxed in on all sides by the same heavy blast doors that protected the reactor room. Damien was able to segment off every single room in the ship, something he had planned specifically for stopping intruders.

"Once I finish wiping Vale off the map and then return to our main headquarters, I will be more than happy to come down there and kill you myself, Wait patiently until then…" Damien requested before his hologram vanished.

Weiss and Pyrrah's weapons bounced off the doors, they were clearly trapped.

"What are we gonna do?" Pyrrha questioned. They were only in a twelve-foot by twelve-foot room so Pyrrha's fire was too risky.

Kelly paused for a few moments, running all the options through her head before shifting into her Raikou form and slashing open the floor, startling the two huntresses who were still not used to being around imposing creatures like Kelly's shited from.

Kelly tore up a panel revealing a few electrical wires, slicing them open and then changing back.

"I can dematerialize and go through here, get ready to run'' Kelly stated. Her firm voice was a stark contrast to how she usually carried herself.

Pyrrah and Weiss gave an even more confused look, causing Kelly to sigh and explain "this ship has to have a backup generator, or an energy converter where the reactor's energy is turned into usable electricity."

"So your gonna short out the system? Wouldn't that get rid of the breathable air?" Weiss questioned.

Kelly shook her head and replied "no, the hull is pressurized so you won't run out of air for a while. More importantly, Damien will probably get the systems of the ship back up as soon as the power is restored. Once I find the converter, I'll be able to join you in the elevator and power it on my own."

The two huntresses nodded, but Kelly added to their confusion by saying "i trust you two…so I need you to do one more thing"

Kelly reached towards her wrists and took one of her silver inhibitors off, saying "fully dematerializing isn't risky, but it means I can't take anything with me. The inhibitors won't let me do it."

Electricity surged over her body as she took a deep breath, carefully adjusting to her increased power output before even thinking about taking off the other inhibitor.

"How is this any different than how you and your brother teleport via lightning?" Weiss questioned.

"Becuase we have air to travel along, only need to partially dematerialize" Kelly explained before clicking off the other inhibitor and revealing her unconcealed from. Her right inhibitor ring had a glamor charm built-in, a crystal of psychic energy that allowed someone to conceal their appearance with a thought. It didn't create an illusion but rather a bubble of psychic energy that could fool someone's touch as well.

Unconcealed, Kelly looked barely past twelve, a side effect of her slowed aging, not only that but her green eyes looked much more bright and innocent, especially with her now oversized clothes hanging loose on her, especially with her jeans pooled around her legs. Kelly was almost three feet shorter.

Kelly handed her inhibitors and folded up scythe to the Weiss, then handed the duffle bag with the cryo-grenades to Pyrrahbefore saying " take my clothes as well, be ready"

Weiss nodded before Kelly vanished in flash of electricity, her purple shirt, arm and knee guards and yellow leather jacket landing on the floor.

Within ten seconds the lights went out, Pyrrah and Weiss began to float up for, nearly vomiting from the introduction to low gravity. Weiss tried to use a glyph, but a standard white glyph appeared rather than the black gravity glyph, sending her floating even farther away.

"Crap..dust doesn't work up here" Weiss realized, without dust, she only had access to her basic glyphs for propulsion and shields. While summoning didn't require dust, she didn't think she would be able to summon the Arma Gigas arm. Weiss had only managed to summon the knight once, when an innocent life was in danger at the battle of Beacon, and even then she had only done it on instinct.

Pyrrha used her semblance to stick to the floor and grab Kelly's outfit, she then tossed the items into the elevator and then guided herself into it.

"Hold on to the scythe" Pyrrha wanted as the lights began to flicker back on.

Weiss hung on to Raikiri, which resembled Crescent Rose's compact form, only slightly smaller, for dear life as Pyrrah pulled her in. the lights turned back on and the door slammed shut, trapping them in the elevator.

Kelly reappeared a few seconds later, and Weiss and Pyrrha instinctively turned away, she got dressed in a few seconds and then said "You can look"

Weiss and Pyrrha turned around and handed Kelly her inhibitor rings back, she returned to her usual looks and put her purple arm and wrist guards on. After she put her kneepads on, she held out her hand and zapped the console.

As the elevator began to move, Kelly explained "I couldn't have done this without going to the converter, now that I've got a taste of the electricity, I can open the doors for us. I don't have enough power to shut this thing down on my own, I would need way more power to short out the ship"

The trio arrived at the door to the bridge a few minutes later, and Kelly took a deep breath before warning "Damien is one of the shadow collective's generals for a reason…be ready for the hardest fight you've ever faced"
