Meanwhile in Neverland, all was quiet and the sun slowly began to rise.
A rainbow shined over Mermaid Lagoon, where the merponies ruled under Queen Novo, the Northuldra people lit up their campfire and prepared for their day, the jungle blossomed with flowers and other beautiful, exotic plants, the Never Birds were singing and all was peaceful... expect for one place where it seemed cold, icy and gloomier than the rest.
Cannibal Cove was where the Jolly Roger rested, anchored and frozen with dark clouds surrounding her. This horrid ship belonged to the evil Captain Dick Dastardly.
He had stayed in Never Land for who knows how long, hoping to get revenge on Flynn Pan. Dastardly wanted Flynn dead more than anything in the world. Why you ask? Well...
In a fierce fight, the captain had lost his right hand while fighting Flynn. He blamed the boy for cutting off his hand, even though it wasn't his fault.
Worst of all, the water dragon, Sisudatu accidentally found the hand and started following him since then, land and sea. Why does she follow him and when will it end? No one knew.
The crew were restless, singing a sanity to keep their spirits up as they sit by a fire pit built for them. They longed for plunder and murder. It was their trademark, they'd mutiny Dastardly if they had their day.
"Shiver my timbers, shiver my soul
"Yo ho, heave ho
"There are men whose hearts are as black as coal
"Yo ho, heave ho"
Down below, two fish, Marlin and Dory, watched the crew nervously. Then they eyed each other before returning to the sea.
But three other fish, Bubbles, Gurgle and Bloat, couldn't help but sing along to the shanty, expressing their fear of the pirates.
"And they sailed their ship 'cross the ocean blue
"A bloodthirsty captain and a cutthroat crew"
Then, Sisu emerged from the ocean, scaring the fish away.
"It was dark a tale as was ever was told
"Of the lust for treasure
"And the love of gold!"
Back on the ship while most of the crew sang, several pirates led by Namaari were throwing swords at a crudely drawn picture labeled "Captain" that was drawn on the cabin door.
"Shiver my timbers, shiver my sides
"Yo ho, heave ho
"There are hungers as strong as the wind and tides
"Yo ho, heave ho
"And we buccaneers drown our sins in rum
"The devil himself would call us scum
"Every man aboard would have killed his mate
"For a bag of guineas or a piece of eight
"A piece of eight (2x)
At that moment, the cargo hold opened and it was Muttley, Captain Dastardly's loyal first mate and pet dog. He dodged at the incoming knives as they hit the cabin door, humming along.
"A-five, six, seven, eight!" he barked. "Rasm frasm, watch it."
"You watch where you're going, Mr. Muttley" glared Naraami.
The dog grumbled as if to say "and good morning to you too, grouch!", then waddled away with a tray in hand, only to start skating across the frozen deck.
The crew decided to make fun of the poor dog as they complained to him.
"Who does that mutt think he is?" Gaston glared. "Feeling giddy when he should be afraid!"
"Darn right!" agreed Lefou.
The crew grumbled in agreement and threw swords, knives and tried noosing a rope on Muttley, but the clever mutt dodged every single one.
"We're here, collecting barnacles on this miserable island 'till our bums get sore!" complained Stromboli.
"Fighting against wolves, changelings, the Northuldra people and the Druun" added Hans of the Southern Isles. "Not to mention the lions, and tigers and bears."
"Oh, my!" the crew shouted in chorus.
Ruber (Quest for Camelot) then swung his spiked club at Muttley, who dodged it.
"While the captain searches for Flynn Pan" said one of the Stabbington Brothers. "We ought to return to looting ships."
"Why, I've almost forgotten how to slit a throat" snarled Tong.
"You better move it, mutt!" Tin (from Tom & Jerry) called out, tossing empty glass bottles at Muttley, along with his brothers, Pan and Alley (also from Tom And Jerry)
"And tell the captain we definitely wants to put to sea" Pan giggled.
"Or we will quit!" Alley finished.
They all cackled as Muttley slipped on the ice, landing on his bum and nearly losing the tray.
Muttley blew a raspberry at them, flicked his tail up, then went inside the cabin, ignoring the still laughing crew.
"Rasm frasm stupid crew members."
Inside, Captain Dastardly paced around, twirling his mustache anxiously.
He hasn't slept at all. He was searching on a map of Neverland that laid on the table. Dastardly wanted to find Flynn's hideout, so he could trap him in his own lair, but it seemed impossible to find.
The pirates searched Mermaid Lagoon, they bombed Cannibal Cove, they barely escaped the Druun.
Heck! Dastardly wouldn't dare set foot on the Northuldra territory without Yelena, the leader, sending her people after them. And yet… they knew the island better than Dastardly with his own ship.
Muttley arrived, placing the tray on a table. He barked excitedly, only to receive a pat on the head.
"I tell you, Muttley" the captain finally said, checking off the places they've looked for Flynn's hideout.
"This is rubbish! Everywhere we go on the island, Pan seems to cover his footprints. And for some reason, I must hit my head or something. I felt pain earlier, aside from this."
He held up his right arm that had a scarred stump. Muttley winched, grossed out.
As the captain placed a shoulder harness on, Muttley carefully helped clip it on. Dastardly had the easiest, but painful part to straighten his arm.
"Drat!" groaned Dastardly as the harness displaced the weight of his arm.
It had to be done or it wouldn't help regulate the weight Dastardly felt while using the hook.
Muttley snickered a rather raspy laugh.
"One more snicker and it's the plank for you!" the captain growled.
Hearing this, Muttley stopped and grumbled under his breath.
"WHAT did you say?!" Dastardly demanded.
The pooch responded by kissing his master's only hand.
"That's better, and don't forget who is captain of this ship."
Muttley grinned, nodding.
Soon, a voice called out from outside.
"ONE MORE TIME NOW!"
It was the vultures (Buzzie, Flaps, Dizzy and Ziggy from the Jungle Book). They were singing the shanty in a barbershop style which didn't sound right at all!
"Shiver my timbers, shiver my bones
Yo ho, heave ho
There are secrets that sleep with old Davy Jones
Yo ho heave ho
When the mainsail's set and the anchor's weighed
There's no turning back from any course that's laid"
Dastardly and Muttley hated the off key singing more then they hated the birds who always flew around the ship, ticking them off.
"And when greed and villainy sail the sea
You can bet your boots, there'll be treachery!"
Annoyed, Dastardly pulled a pistol from his coat and aimed out an shattered hole in the window, though he focused on the maps.
"Shiver my timbers, shiver my sails
Dead men tell no tales!"
BANG!
The sound of the gunshot scared off the vultures off!
Dastardly slumped into a chair, depressed.
"None of this shouldn't have happened, Muttley" he sighed. "No thanks to Pan. And Namaari said it was supposed to be fate."
Muttley nodded in agreement.
But at that rate, he threw the table in a rage and growled at Muttley.
"FLEABAG! THE STATEMENT WAS RHETORICAL!" he shouted, raising his hook. "Was it my fate for Pan to did this to me?!"
As he turned away, Dastardly felt remorse. Not only his hand, but something else...
"Rasm frasm only a childish prank" Muttley protested.
"Childish, yes, but prank, no!" snarled Dastardly, throwing his coat to the ground.
The captain was panicking on the inside, remembering that dreadful day or at least how he remembered it.
Sure, the hook helped him with such homely uses such as combing his hair, but Dastardly could feel pain in his right arm and from the bottom of his cold heart.
He looked over the edge of the ship, his only hand on his forehead.
"But no! Oh-ho-ho-ho! Throwing my hand to the water dragon was the worst thing that happened!" lamented Dastardly. "That cursed beast liked the taste of me so well, she's hunting me down ever since... licking her lips for the rest of me."
Dastardly slid down to the floor, his head between his knees.
Muttley nudged his head against Dastardly's side. The human captain didn't want comfort, but Muttley was the only one in the crew that cares about him… most of the time.
"Luckily the beast shallowed a clock" Dastardly continued. "If it wasn't for the ticking, she would have had me by now."
Why could some kid ruin my master? Muttley thought to himself. What an idiot!
Suddenly, the ship began to move.
"Oh, that better not be that stupid water dragon again!" complained Dastardly. "I'll kill her!"
The ice surrounding the Jolly Roger was melting, the sun was out…
"He's back!" snarled Dastardly.
In the clouds, Flynn watched as the Darling children admired the view of Never Land.
"It's Mermaid Lagoon!" cried Rapunzel.
"My goodness" gasped Agnarr. "And the Northuldra camp."
Shaggy gulped and saw the pirate ship.
"Man, you might wanna see that" he said to Flynn.
Looking through a telescope, Flynn saw that the pirates were cleaning the ice off the ship. The snow has melted but it was still dark and cold.
"Let's take a closer look" Flynn smiled mischievously.
The children bounced from cloud to cloud, but as Twilight followed, a large changeling appeared.
She screamed and zapped the creature, letting it fall out of the sky.
Dastardly and Muttley peeked through their telescope, hoping to find Flynn.
Just then, the changeling landed in front of Namaarri.
"Captain?" she frowned.
Taking note of the now unconscious changeling, Dastardly saw Flynn approaching with the Darling children.
"Muttley, fetch Long Tom" Dastardly grinned evilly.
BOOM!
Cannons fired at the clouds and the kids screamed.
Flynn was furious, then he turned to Twilight.
"Twilight, bring Rapunzel and the boys to the island" he ordered.
The alicorn shook her head anxiously.
"I'll be fine, Twili, just leave the rest to me. I'll stay here and draw Dastardly's fire."
Shrugging, Twilight flew ahead, with Rapunzel struggling to follow.
But Agnarr and Shaggy were dangling over the clouds.
"Shaggy, are you shot?" asked Agnarr.
"I haven't checked yet!" Shaggy replied with panic in his voice. "But like there's something worse!"
"Oh, what could be worse?"
"My thoughts aren't very happy!"
The two boys fell off the cloud.
Rapunzel used her hair to help Shaggy but Agnarr missed and fell into the jungle.
"AGNARR!" the younger siblings screamed.
Below the ship, Sisu watched with concern. She had to do something to help, then she dove into the ocean.
Meanwhile, Flynn started to taunt the pirates.
"Oh, Captain Dastardly!" he called out.
Dastardly's eyes lit up with anger. "PAN! Stay with him!"
The pirates tried to aim the cannon at Flynn, but the teenager flew around, singing "you can't catch me, you can't catch me!" and confusing them.
"Over here! Dastardly! Dastardly, you old codfish! Here!" laughed Flynn.
Of course, Dastardly had enough of the foolishness.
"FIRE!"
BOOM!
The cannon was fired but it hit the mainsail, knocking the mast down and dust went flying everywhere!
Rapunzel and Shaggy tried to catch up with Twilight, but the alicorn was too fast for them.
"Twilight!" Rapunzel called out. "Not so fast! Please, Twilight! We can't keep up with you!"
But the jealous Twilight ignored the little girl and flew ahead. She had a plan to "get rid" of Rapunzel.
"Twilight, wait up!" Shaggy cried. "What about Agnarr?!"
The dust cleared and the ship was a mess, even Muttley was laying under the mast.
"Drat, drat and double drat!" growled Dastardly. "Reload the cannon! Quickly!"
"Reload the cannon?" repeated Lefou. "But Cap'n, he's gone."
Dastardly kicked the little man, shutting him up. Then he turned to the crew, furious.
"Any other contributions?"
The crew shook their heads quickly, nervously. "Uh-uh, uh-uh!"
But then ticking was heard.
The pirates gasped.
"Oh, no" Dastardly groaned. "Not now."
In a fog of ice and water, Sisu appeared and blew mist at the pirates, roaring.
Namaari and Tong backed off, not wanting to interfere.
The water dragon then approached Dastardly, snarling.
The captain was frightened, his back against the mast. He wasn't ready. He didn't want to be dinner to a dangerous monster.
"Now, now, just stay away" he pleaded. "No, no, no."
But Sisu softened and stared at Dastardly. Her gentle purple eyes reflected in his grey eyes.
Muttley growled and barked at Sisu, though still trapped under the mast.
The water dragon blinked, then dove back into the ocean. Dastardly was shocked, but he snapped out of it.
"Search the jungle! Bring me those children!" he bellowed.
To be continued…
