Back in London, it was nighttime and the children managed to return home.
They took in many familiar faces sleeping in their room.
"Mother" Agnarr smiled, touching Mrs. Darling's hand.
Shaggy crawled under the chair and found…
"Scooby-Doo."
The three children gasped in shock when they saw Mr. Darling still in the doghouse.
"Father!" Rapunzel shouted.
"Surely, he does not go around in a doghouse" Shaggy frowned.
The parents started to stir awake.
"Let's break it to them gently" Agnarr insisted.
The children immediately climbed into bed.
Mrs. Darling awoke with a startle, scaring Scooby.
"Oh, Scooby" she cooed. "I dreamt my little ones had come back. I dreamed they were asleep... in their beds. But they will never come back."
She turned away and stared out the window.
The children did not understand how she could not see them. But, you see, she saw them in their beds so often in her dreams... that she thought this was just the dream hanging around her still.
Scooby then sniffed Shaggy and gasped in realization.
"Raggy!" he cried.
"Scooby!" Shaggy cried back.
The two hugged, laughing.
Mrs. Darling finally turned around to see Agnarr and Rapunzel standing before her.
"Hello, Mother. It really is us" Rapunzel said softly.
"We're back" Agnarr added.
Mrs. Darling tearfully smiled and embraced her children. Even Scooby tried to join the hug.
She was so happy that she called out to her husband.
"Frederic, wake up! Come quickly!"
Mr. Darling woke up, banging his head on the doghouse roof.
"Ouch! What is it?" panicked Mr. Darling. "Have they returned?"
He bolted past his family, thinking they were out the window, but he stopped… and saw his children with his wife.
"We're back, Father. Did you miss us?" Agnarr asked.
Mr. Darling straightened himself, trying to be a proper man.
"You're back." he said. "Good. Excellent. Well then."
He approached his family and held out his hand to Agnarr for a handshake.
Agnarr shook, but then tearfully buried himself into his father's chest.
Touched, Mr. Darling broke down in tears and embraced Agnarr and Shaggy.
"Oh, my boy." sobbed their father. "Of course I missed you."
Then, the sobbing father stared at his beloved daughter. Remorseful for what he said and making her run away all because he wanted his baby girl to grow up quickly.
Mr. Darling pulled Rapunzel into the hug and kissed her forehead.
"Oh, Mother, Father, we had the most wonderful time." smiled Agnarr.
"It was amazing!" Shaggy exclaimed.
"Gosh! Like we saw everything. Twilight Sparkle, the Lost Boys, the mermaids and Flynn Pan!"
"Oh, he was the most wonderful of all" Rapunzel giggled.
As the children continued to explain their journey, Scooby noticed a figure by the doorway. It was Iduna.
"Ruh-oh!" yelped Scooby.
The family turned to Scooby's direction.
Agnarr was embarrassed to say anything of his arranged marriage to Iduna, let alone that she was a Northuldra girl.
Mr. Darling was surprised.
He and his wife stared at each other as if to say "This strange girl is in love with our Agnarr?"
Shaggy flinched nervously, holding Rapunzel close.
"Uh-oh" he whimpered. "Not good."
And then… Mrs. Darling outstretched her hand to Iduna, who took it and was pulled in to the group. She was welcomed to the family.
There could not have been a lovelier sight, but there was none to see it except a strange boy who was staring in at the window.
Flynn Pan had countless joys that other children can never know, but he was looking at the one joy from which he must be forever barred.
"To life will be an awfully big adventure" he said to himself.
With everyone greeting Iduna, Rapunzel peeked out the window to see the ship sailing through the clouds.
Just then, Flynn appeared.
"You sure you don't wanna come, Blondie?" he said with a smile.
"I'm sorry I must grow up" Rapunzel replied. "But this belongs to you and always will."
She placed a gentle kiss on Flynn's cheek, causing him to glow pink with excitement and bolt into the air.
"Flynn!" Rapunzel called out. "You won't forget me, will you?"
"Me? Forget? Never" smirked the young boy.
"Will you come back?"
"Only to hear stories... about me."
And then, he flew back to the ship and it resumed sailing through the clouds.
"Beautiful, huh?" Shaggy said.
Mr. Darling was the most surprised of the ship.
"See how well he runs the ship?" smiled Rapunzel.
"You know, Rapunzel" her father began. "I have the strangest feeling that I've seen that ship before... a long time ago when I was very young."
The familt smiled as they, Scooby and Iduna watched the ship slowly sail across the full moon.
From that night forward, Rapunzel, Agnarr and Shaggy believed in Flynn Pan all their lives, Iduna became Agnarr's future wife and Mr. Darling was less pratical than he was before.
And so it will go on. For all children grow up... except one.
THE EN-
"Oh, no you don't" growled Dastardly, glaring at the reader.
"It's not over yet! I will get Pan if it's the last thing I do!"
Muttley cheered in agreement.
"I've spent the entire story, being chased by a brand new Disney character, acting like a certain British actor from Harry Potter who also did this character!"
Oh, boy! I thought he was not suppose to break character.
But then, Sisu placed a gentle claw on Dastardly's head and fell back to sleep.
Angry, Muttley was about to attack when Tong and Namaari snatched him away from Sisu, who carried the captain back to her cave/lagoon.
Flynn then popped up from behind a tree and smiled at the reader.
"They'll be back" he said with a wink before he flew away.
Oh, well, okay now it's THE END… for now at least.
To be continued…
