Asuriel watched as a girl fell into a clump of bushes on the other side of the sealed grounds. Her mind buzzed with questions, mainly wondering how a human managed to get into the sky in the first place. That girl could definitely not be Hylia, she would have come with grace and beauty. Asuriel desperately wanted to go speak with the girl, but Impa had warned her to hide. Not to mention that other person of whom she spoke. Asuriel did not know of any other "he" besides a few of the kikwis. Impa said there was no time, so she must be planning to tell the girl later.

Curiosity battled with reason in Asuriel's head as she decided whether she should remain hidden or look for the girl. Reason won out for a while until she spotted the other girl slip out of the Sealed Temple and begin running towards the deep woods. Asuriel followed her, easily keeping pace through the familiar forest. It wasn't until they reached the Skyview Temple that Asuriel debated if she should reveal herself. Unfortunately, she hesitated too long, for the girl disappeared behind the heavy doors of the temple. Asuriel stared at the now empty clearing, wishing she had stepped out. She was turning around, about to leave when she felt a sudden presence of power, as if a strong force was gathering in front of the Temple.

She felt herself stepping into plain sight when she was suddenly pulled back into the thick tree line. The girl whipped around only to see Impa, not the elderly woman but a lithe figure, tall yet graceful. It was very strange for Asuriel to grow up around people who were the same individual, yet different ages. The elderly Impa had told her that, with time, she would come to understand the reason for both a younger and older embodiment of Impa to coexist, along with the explanation of how it came to happen. Despite her questioning, some things were to be hidden from Asuriel.

Impa glared down at the young girl, who she had caught sneaking around the woods against orders. Watching her face, Impa remembered the conversations she had had with the future version of herself regarding that child's safety. Even though she was an attendant and not Hylia herself, Asuriel was still important and worth protecting. Besides basic security for the girl, she was to be kept from Demise and his servants. Especially at such a young age, and being brought up in the safe utopia of the Faron woods, Asuriel was naive and susceptible to influence. All the more reason to keep him away from that person.

"I thought you were supposed to stay hidden."

"I know. I'm sorry, Impa. I saw a girl and I was so curious, I couldn't help but follow her."

The Sheika sighed. "Be careful, Asuriel. Your curiosity can get you into trouble. I will take you back to the Temple, it is too dangerous for you to be in the forest alone right now."

Asuriel nodded and began walking in the direction of the Sealed Temple. Impa followed closely, but not after stealing a glance at the demon lord who was inspecting the doors of the Skyview Temple. It had been a close call, but she had managed to keep Asuriel from seeing him. She only hoped that the girl could stay out of his sight while she herself was guarding Hylia.

At the side entrance to the Sealed Temple, Asuriel waved goodbye to Impa as she set out into the woods once more. The heavy door creaked as Asuriel slipped inside and approached was severely concerned elderly Impa.

"Child..."

She ran to Impa and embraced her. "I'm so sorry I didn't listen."

"It's alright, now, Asuriel, you are safe here."

"Will I be able to go outside again."

"Perhaps tomorrow, if you are careful. If you do enter the forest, be aware of your surroundings, the Faron Woods will no longer be as safe as it once was."

The girl nodded, but quickly remembered something. "The kikwis! They could be attacked!"

"Do not worry about them, they have the ability to blend into their surroundings. You can see them tomorrow. For now, you will eat and then continue strengthening your shield defense."

After a light lunch of some berries and nuts, Impa began to instruct Asuriel in creating a stronger defense by increasing the power of her barrier. She was cautious of how long she had Asuriel keep up the shield because it was more draining than a simpler spell.

"You are doing very well, Asuriel. We will take a break, and then test how well your shield can hold up against an attack."

The girl sat down and leaned her head back against one of the columns. A few minutes later, Impa called her and she rose to her feet.

"I will be using this short sword to test the durability of your defense. One day, I will teach you to wield this weapon, but that is not our main focus."

Asuriel prepared her shield and Impa, lifting one hand, caused the sword to float and turn towards the child. With a single wrist movement, the blade swung against the force field, as if wielded by an invisible man. Impa paused to check to see if any damage had been done to the shield before continuing to strike against it.

Asuriel held up as long as she could, but between maintaining her defense and keeping it from shattering at every blow, she became exhausted quickly. Upon the eleventh swing, the shield cracked. By the fourteenth, it had splintered into pieces, throwing Asuriel back. She was quite surprised by this, she had been able to remain strong when attacked by those red creatures, but these had been much stronger swings.

Across the room, Impa sighed. She was becoming increasingly worried for the girl. She would last against the bokoblins that we're invading the forest, but it was that demon lord she was worried about. Impa thought back to the time she had stood against him in front of the Gate of Time in Lanayru. His blows were strong and precise. She had done her best to imitate his power, even though her attempt was not as great.

If Asuriel were to be attacked by him, how long would she last? Five, maybe six blows to her shield before her life would be forfeit to that agent of darkness. She had to get stronger, she had to be able to help Hylia! Impa blamed herself her this, she had spend too much time being careful and making sure Asuriel didn't get hurt, telling herself that the goddess wasn't coming yet. Now, the girl could pay for it with her life because she wasn't prepared enough. They would just have to train harder, make sure Asuriel would at least have time to run away before her defenses would be broken down.

"Asuriel, get up, we have to try again."

The girl looked at Impa with uncertainty, but, nevertheless, got to her feet and reformed her shield.

After a few hours, Impa finally allowed Asuriel to return to her room. The girl was completely drained from the training, but she had grown stronger, both in magic and character. She sat on her bed, a plate of food, given to her by Impa, sat beside her. She had been instructed to eat slowly, even though she was starving from working so long. Still, she was hopeful that she would have the opportunity to visit the kikwis in the coming morning.

At dawn, a slightly sore Asuriel climbed out of bed and asked permission to go outside. After a short conversation, Impa told her she may go out, but only if she stayed out of the deep woods. The girl happily obliged and began looking for her friends, but found that to be difficult due to the red monsters roaming around. After an hour and a half of unsuccessful searching, she began making her way back to the temple. She had just exited the woods when she heard the sound of running coming from around a corner. Alarmed, she stumbled backwards and tripped, having just enough time to put up a shield before something came hurdling around the corner.

Her first thought was that it was a green monster (she didn't know they came in green), but it was replaced by the realization that that thing was a human. Not only that, but a boy. He skidded to a halt a few feet from her and stood frozen as they stared at each other. Asuriel looked over the boy with wide eyes, taking in his every feature. His light brown hair, tall stature, and strange clothing. Her eyes met his as she admired their beautiful, sapphire tone. The boy in turn, looked at her eyes, but gazed with confusion at them. After remaining silent for what felt like an eternity, he spoke.

"Your eyes..."

Asuriel stayed quiet, unsure how she should respond. The boy spoke again, "Fi, what's wrong with her eyes?"

The girl gasped as a spirit came out of the sword and spoke.

"There is nothing wrong with her eyes, master. It is a rare condition among humans called Heterochromia. I calculate a 97% probability that it is the cause of her eyes being different colors."

Asuriel considered this, she had never thought it such a rare thing. Even though one of her eyes was emerald green while the other was amber, she had never comsidered it to be anything wrong. At last, she spoke.

"I think your eyes are very pretty, even though they are the same color."

The boy's face flushed, making Asuriel wonder if she said something wrong.

"Thank you."

"What's your name?"

"Link."

The girl paused, repeating the name under her breath.

"What's your name?"

"Asuriel."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, Asuriel."

"Do you want to walk around."

"Sure."

It wasn't until Link offered to help her up that she realized she had let her shield down. They walked in silence before Link turned to her, looking as if he wanted to say something, but didn't. Another minute went by before he let out a nervous laugh.

"You're looking at me as if you have never seen another person before."

Asuriel smiled. "I haven't, well, at least, I have never seen a human boy before. Have you ever seen a human girl before?"

His expression changed to one of surprise before he answered.

"I have, in fact, I'm looking for her now."

"Really. That's quite a coincidence. Yesterday, a girl fell from the sky and ran to the Skyview Temple."

"What?! What did she look like. Where is the Skyview Temple. How did she fall?"

"Oh, well she had blonde hair, blue eyes, and was about my height, from what I could tell. The Skyview Temple is in the Deep Woods, and she fell because of a black tornado."

"That's her! Where are the Deep Woods, can you take me to the temple?"

Link felt so desperate, he hadn't noticed before that he was gripping the girl's hands, almost shouting in her face.

"No, I'm sorry. I was told not to go into the Deep Woods because it has become too dangerous."

"Don't worry, I can protect you. I am from the knight academy."

"I don't know..."

"Aren't you curious?"

"Well..."

"Please, I need to find her."

Asuriel bit her lip. The only reason she was told not to go to the Deep Woods was because it was dangerous, but now she would be protected.

"Alright, I'll take you there."
