Irresistible
Chapter 6
"My lord, shall we move to the dining room?" Baki asked. "Kankuro will be joining us to greet our latest guests."
"Well then, you must all be hungry after such a long trip," Gaara said. "We can talk more there. I think you'll find Sasuke's team very interesting."
"Sasuke really has another team?"
"Well, Naruto, look at it this way," Kakashi said. "At least he didn't forget our teamwork lesson, right?"
Naruto smiled a little at that, remembering that Sasuke had been the first to feed him when Kakashi told them not to.
As they entered the large dining room, Naruto was happy to see Kankuro and Temari. Even though Temari's eyes were only on Shikamaru, her bright smile was for all of them. She seemed especially happy when Gaara told Shikamaru that he should sit beside her.
"Hey, guys." Naruto said to the Sand siblings. "Good to see ya!"
"Hello, Dobe." Cool, self assured and smooth- that was Sasuke's voice, alright...
Naruto turned and stared helplessly at Sasuke for a moment. He was sitting at the far end of the table, opposite from Gaara. It was strange but nice to see him without his Orochimaru-like garb instead he was wearing a black shirt and pants today. He looked good- like always. This bastard was just about perfect… at everything, after all. And also like always, he was smirking. "S-Sasuke…"
"Oh, he's a bright one," A pale guy with very sharp white teeth and violet eyes said dryly. "I take it he's the nine tails' host we're here to babysit?"
A girl with flaming red hair nodded. "Yeah. I sensed him coming from miles away. Unlike you, idiot. We're in the same room and I barely notice you're here until you say something stupid."
"Everyone please sit down," Gaara said, looking annoyed by those two.
Naruto nodded and quickly took a seat between Kakashi and a huge guy with orangish hair and red eyes who smiled at everyone happily.
"Everyone, this is Hatake Kakashi, Uzumaki Naruto, Nara Shikamaru and Hurano Sakura. Sasuke?" Gaara said, motioning to each of them in turn.
"Hozuki Suigetsu, Juugo and Uzumaki Karin," Sasuke said simply.
"Uzumaki?" Naruto stared at her in surprise. "That's my last name too!"
Karin tried not to laugh. "Yeah, I think Lord Gaara just said that."
"Sorry. It's just that, well, I don't really know anything about any of my family… I really thought they were all dead- a long time ago."
"I'm sorry too. I was orphaned at a young age. So I don't remember anything about where I came from before my mom died and I ended up with Lord Orochimaru…"
Naruto sighed. "I understand."
"So," Kankuro said, looking at Shikamaru. "How has the recovery been going since Pain's attack?"
"We're getting things put back together slowly," Shikamaru said carefully.
"Granny Tsunade is still in the hospital, but just-"
"Naruto, you can't say that!" Sakura said.
"Why? They're our friends."
Sasuke smirked. "Because we're here, Dobe."
Sakura blushed. "N-No. I meant because there are so many servants here. You never know who's listening just outside the door."
Sasuke rolled his eyes and snorted. "So, you're still as annoying as ever..."
"Well," Shikamaru sighed. "You are a rogue-"
"He isn't missing or rogue now. I told you, he surrendered without any conditions, to me as your ally. Officially, Sasuke's status here is that of sanctuary," Gaara said. "At least while the Hokage looks into what happened to his family."
"Lord Gaara's so cute whenever someone brings that up," Suigetsu said with a disturbingly shark-like grin. He nodded at Sasuke. "He just jumps right in there every time. You chose your boyfriend well."
Gaara blushed, avoiding looking at Sasuke but said nothing, choosing instead to shoot Suigetsu a rather dark look.
"Wait. Y-You mean it's true-" Naruto turned to the other end of the large table to look at Sasuke, who looked amused watching Gaara.
Naruto bristled when no one said anything, staring at their plates instead. "You're really together, Sasuke? I mean, with... Gaara?"
"Yes, Dobe." Sasuke snorted, finally looking at Naruto with disinterest. "Now, can we finish eating before you freak out?"
"You jerk. I'm not freaking out! I just don't understand you at all! Why him? Do you love him? Didn't you say you wanted to restore your clan? How is that going to happen now?"
"Well," Suigetsu grinned evilly. "You know, you seem pretty freaked out to me."
Naruto blushed. "I am not! I just…"
"Yeah, you are," Sasuke smirked. "Back then I meant I wanted to restore its name and reputation. But, that was before I learned my father was planning a coup."
"What?" everyone asked at the same time.
Sasuke nodded slowly. "Yes. Madara had been quietly driving a wedge between my clan and the village for generations from the shadows. And he did it because the rest of the clan refused to stand with him against Hashirama right after the village was founded. He wanted to be Hokage. For years, my clan made up most of the police force and yet during the nine tail's attack on the village they were not allowed to do anything to help. They found that deeply insulting and humiliating. The village knew that the nine tails had to be controlled by an Uchiha. They suspected someone within the village was responsible, because they didn't know that Madara was still alive."
"Did Madara tell you that?" Kakashi asked.
"Of course not. But Itachi and Madara's stories about each other were uncomplimentary at best and contradictory in some interesting places. So both lied when it suited them. Therefore the truth must lie somewhere in the middle."
"So then what happened?" Naruto asked.
"In the years that followed, tensions kept growing until my brother was promoted to Anbu. My father believed Itachi was working for him, spying on the village. But, Itachi was working for the village and the Third actually had a plan to stop the coup peacefully. But a bastard named Danzou wanted blood and the Sharingan. He struck Shisui, poisoning him and stealing one of his eyes because he was an Uchiha. Unfortunately he was the plan's key player and he barely escaped to warn Itachi of Danzou's treachery and then he committed suicide. Shisui's death awakened Itachi's Mangekyuo Sharingan. But, with Shisui gone, all hope of peace was lost. So, Itachi took Danzou's offer and then he took the Leaf's secrets to the grave. He didn't want me or anyone else to know what really happened or why. Madara on the other hand told me much of that cheerfully. His wounded pride was worth more to him than our clan that he claims he once wanted to protect."
"Why didn't you tell me any of this before?" Gaara asked.
"It wasn't easy to admit that neither my brother, nor my father were the people I thought they were. I didn't want to go through that story twice."
Gaara found himself unable to argue with that and blushed.
"Sasuke," Kakashi said. "Madara wasn't the only one manipulating things against your clan. I don't think they're working together but Danzou must have had a hand in this all along too. Because for decades he ran an underground organization called Root within Anbu. It was disbanded by Lady Tsunade as soon as she found out it existed. That was when Danzou had sent Sai to kill you and make his private deal with Orochimaru. But there's literally no limit to his ambition- Danzou actually tried to kill the Third Hokage. Obviously he failed. But to think that the Third would leave him alive much less in power after such a thing? Honestly it makes no sense to me."
"So my clan was fucked from both sides. At this point nothing surprises me…"
"Unfortunately," Gaara nodded reluctantly. "Everything that Madara told you about the village actually lines up very well with what Kakashi said when they arrived. All of this evidence can't be a coincidence. Nearly one hundred citizens died all in one night and they are all from the same clan… Honestly, no matter who took the blame, the leaders of the other clans should've laid awake at night for years after that, wondering when they will outlive their usefulness to Konoha." Gaara said. "But Danzou actually sounds just like some of the bloodthirsty "advisors" I inherited from my father's time in office. I know they are waiting to see how they can use Sasuke against me, but that doesn't change my mind, I don't have any regrets."
"So, now what do we do?" Kankuro asked.
"We? Does this mean you're done acting like a spoiled toddler?" Temari asked.
"Well," Kankuro blushed uncomfortably. "I don't want to turn into Naruto over it…"
"Me? What did I do?" Naruto snorted. "I just don't get it, that's all…"
Suigetsu grinned. "Well, neither do we, really. I'm just glad Sasuke's happy… or happier anyway. I haven't seen him this calm since he first sealed Orochimaru."
"Hey, how did you beat Orochimaru anyway?" Shikamaru asked.
"During his soul transfer jutsu he looked right into the Sharingan and his will wasn't strong enough to keep me out of his mind. I don't have his powers or the cursed seal any more though. Itachi sealed Orochimaru into the sword carried by his Susanoo right before he died. There might still be a way for him to come back though."
"Don't say that like it's a good thing, Sasuke," Kakashi warned.
"Now I have even more questions and only Orochimaru has the means to answer them. Well, one of his techniques can, anyway."
"Would you seriously risk reviving Orochimaru just so you could talk to a few dead people?"
"After we stop Madara I have no idea who or even what I am anymore."
"But that means you can be anything you want now!" Naruto said.
"As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about, Dobe."
"Kabuto might also know the technique," Gaara said.
"True, but I did mention that I ruined all of Kabuto's science projects before I left Sound Village, remember?"
"Well," Gaara sighed. "I guess we better hope that the Hokage's investigation answers your questions then."
"If they bother investigating," Sasuke growled.
"She will, Sasuke." Naruto promised.
"My Lord!" Someone called from outside the room and rapid footsteps in the hall led to the door opening.
"F-Forgive me, for my intrusion, Lord Kazekage!" Everyone was staring when a man ran into the dining room, panting. He was holding a sheet of paper and he bowed hastily as he handed it to Gaara. "But this just arrived from Konoha!"
"Have you read it yet?"
"No, Gaara-sama." The man handed him the letter and stepped back.
Naruto was just curious until Gaara's eyes widened and then narrowed as he read it.
"W-Well? What does it say?" Baki asked anxiously.
"I'm being warned to release Sasuke for trial. And this goes from bad to worse. Unfortunately, Lady Tsunade is dead, and her assassination was blamed on the Sand village."
"Danzou," Kakashi said. "Damn him."
"Yes," Gaara said calmly. "But it's still getting worse. The new Hokage, this Lord Danzou, has already left Konoha with guards to seize Sasuke."
"Man, this is such a drag…" Shikamaru sighed. "This guy has to know that the timing here is just too incriminating. But, man, why all this fuss over Sasuke? Sure he's strong but-"
"For men like Danzou every piece on the chessboard has to be his or they want it destroyed so no one can have it. But in this case, it's probably Sasuke's Sharingan that he really wants," Kakashi said. "Which means when we try to help Sasuke, he'll come after mine too. When will they arrive?"
Gaara shrugged. "I don't know. It doesn't say when Lady Tsunade died. But, I would think this letter probably left Konoha several hours after you did."
"Well, don't worry, Gaara. Because I'm not giving that bastard anything! Not Sasuke, not now. Not ever." Naruto growled.
"And you're really not freaking out or jealous or anything, huh?" Suigetsu giggled.
"Sasuke's my best friend! And that bastard Danzou isn't taking Kakashi-sensei's eye or anything else from us either! Because, I'm going to get revenge for Granny Tsunade too!" Naruto said.
"Indeed," Gaara nodded. "She has been a friend to this village too. We will stand against this impostor on her throne."
"So, what do we do now?" Naruto asked.
"Honestly, I'm not sure yet," Gaara said. "But we should probably get some rest while we can. So, unless something else happens during the night, I will see you tomorrow, my friends. In the meantime, Baki, please double the watch and put Anbu on high alert."
Gaara took a deep breath as he and Sasuke appeared in his room alone. "So, the man who made Itachi kill your family and sent assassins after you twice, has killed Lady Tsunade. And yet it seems that the other Kages have sided with him. So, basically, we have just started the Fourth Great Ninja War."
Sasuke smirked.
Gaara scowled at him. "This isn't funny."
"That's just a lot to take in all at once," Sasuke said. "But you said you agree that he killed my family?"
"Your father was planning a coup so there was reason for the village to fear your clan all those years ago. With that revealed the other pieces of the puzzle finally fit. Especially your brother's part in it. With his loyalties already torn, what chance could he have to think of something else with a man like Danzou breathing down his neck? Kakashi confirmed the man has literally been after you for years and now Lady Tsunade is dead while that bastard is suddenly in power? As Shikamaru said, it's absurd to try and draw any other conclusions."
Sasuke kissed him- lightly at first. But sensually, enjoying the way that Gaara nudged him toward the bed. And knelt across his lap once he sat down.
They stayed like that for a while. Just kissing and rubbing against each other, lost in the moment until Gaara refused to let Sasuke take his shirt off.
"Are you sure I'm the one you want?" Gaara asked suddenly.
"I'm right here, aren't I?"
"Naruto's room is-"
Sasuke growled and pinned Gaara to the bed with an angry glare. "I don't want to fight or argue. I'm trying to protect him not fuck him."
Gaara shrugged, "You could try both…"
"In case you hadn't noticed, the idiot thinks he's straight. Making a move on him now might send him running back to Konoha. You, on the other hand, haven't fucked me yet… Do you want to?" Sasuke purred.
Gaara blushed but rolled his eyes. "I'm serious."
"Do you think I'm not?" Sasuke nuzzled him. "I was hoping we got past this nonsense yesterday and again this morning."
"I'm just worried about you. Especially now that he's actually here. We're hurting him already."
"All I've ever done is hurt him, Gaara. Nothing I do can make that go away. Nothing I do with you will affect how I feel about that Dobe. And that goes the other way too. Especially when we are alone and you're being so adorably soft."
Gaara scowled at the word soft. "I just don't want you to regret this..."
"You do."
"I no longer enjoy hurting anyone. But you just want him to get jealous and admit he wants you."
"Wrong. Until that bastard Madara is dead I can't afford to lose focus on him. He's too strong. Too dangerous. Now then, you and I are supposed to be all about us, remember?" Sasuke purred, trailing lazy kisses down Gaara's neck and squirming all the way on top of him. "Not Naruto."
"You're relentless when you want something, you know that?" Gaara sighed, wrapping his arms around him.
"I prefer just irresistible, thank you. I fail to see how that could be considered a problem right now…" Sasuke purred, nibbling on Gaara's collarbone. "But, I'll be fine as long as one of us is getting fucked in the next ten minutes. Now, stop stalling and kiss me."
"Well, you didn't have to walk into my office late to greet them a little while ago," Gaara blushed. He still had some reservations about their arrangement. But then, as Sasuke said, he probably should have thought a little farther ahead when they first made this arrangement.
"I would've gone with you," Sasuke shrugged.
"I think it was best that they found out about us through Baki rather than letting you crawl out from under my desk or something."
Sasuke snorted. "Actually, I just added that to my to do list."
"You have a list?" Gaara rolled his eyes.
Sasuke sighed, tiredly. "At dinner you said you don't have any regrets. Were you lying then or now?"
"Neither. I don't regret this. I… just don't want to lose you," Gaara said softly, unable to look at him. Unfortunately, every time he looked forward from here, he saw only heartbreak in his future. He was getting too attached already- too used to Sasuke being there. Gaara knew he would lose Sasuke to Naruto eventually. Wouldn't it be better to stop things now- to pull away now while he still had the will to survive losing him?
Sasuke snorted, leaning in to kiss him lightly. "Then stop trying to push me away. I'm right here. Give me a reason to stay."
Sasuke was just seducing him- again, and yet this time Gaara couldn't refuse. He wanted this… needed it. And he needed to believe that Sasuke needed him too…
Gaara wrapped his arms around him and kissed him. The Uchiha always knew just what to say and where to touch him to leave him a puddle of goo or set every one of his nervendings on fire. And right now he was doing both…
He pulled Sasuke on top of him so that he was straddling his hips. They were both hard, and even with clothes on, the friction between them was heavenly. He wanted more.
Sasuke was sucking on a mark on his neck from their playtime that had been interrupted a few hours earlier. While his hands were sliding down Gaara's pants.
Sasuke purred, panting against his neck. "Touch me, Gaara."
Soft whispers and even softer fingertips ghosting over him were enough to seduce him again. Every time they were together it was like the first time again.
Gaara loved this, exploring him, tasting him. It didn't matter to him which one of them was leading because despite his misgivings about the future, he didn't want to miss out on the present. Everytime they were together, Sasuke made him feel needed and wanted in a way that he never thought was possible with anyone.
It amazed him even more tonight that the raven was not afraid of him. With his eyes closed, head tipped back and his beautiful neck exposed, Gaara could end all of this right now. But he couldn't hurt him- even if he wanted to.
Betrayal like that now would be too cruel, even if it would stop the coming war… Given his own family history, Gaara understood betrayal better than anyone except possibly Sasuke. Honestly, Gaara just wanted to take away that pain- even if it was only a little. Now that he knew how deep those scars were, he marveled again at the fact that Sasuke was here in Suna, much less in his bed.
Gaara helped him take off his clothes, but kept Sasuke sitting across his hips. The Uchiha watched him quietly, those midnight eyes curious. Gaara coated his fingers with the massage oil they liked and gave the vial to Sasuke.
"Do you still want me inside you tonight?" Gaara asked, his hands on Sasuke's lean hips.
"Yes," Sasuke nodded.
"I'm going to keep you hard while you prepare yourself for me. But you can't touch me or come until I'm inside you. Deal?"
"Fine," Sasuke shrugged, coating his fingers in the oil.
He was impressed by the way Sasuke kept his cool as he reached back and didn't hesitate to pleasure himself. Gaara knew before he suggested it that his bedmate wouldn't refuse or even question the idea. So, he wanted to see Sasuke maintain that control of his while he was being distracted.
"You look so good like this…" Gaara slid his oiled fingers down to the head of Sasuke's cock. He smirked as it throbbed in his hand. He stroked it lightly, teasing him slowly. "Don't stop."
Honestly, by the time Sasuke was using two fingers Gaara was already tempted to turn the Uchiha over onto his belly so he had a better angle to watch from.
But he didn't. He liked having Sasuke on top of him. Gaara took his time trailing kisses down the Uchiha's chest and biting one of his nipples before soothing the bite with his tongue. Sasuke moaned unexpectedly as Gaara continued to graze his cock with just his fingertips. He felt him harden even more when the Uchiha added a third finger.
"Do you like that?" Gaara asked, stroking Sasuke's cock with his whole hand this time. But only from base to the ridge around the head before starting over. Sasuke growled but didn't stop. "That's right, show me where you want me to fuck you."
Gaara was watching Sasuke's cock drip precum and wished that he could reach it to lick it off right now. So instead he stroked the slit with his thumb, drawing another moan from Sasuke.
"Stop teasing and fuck me," Sasuke growled finally, grinding his ass down onto Gaara's cock in frustration.
"Are you sure you're ready for me?" Gaara teased, still rubbing his length. Sasuke was so hard that he was dripping and he couldn't help feeling proud that he was able to turn him on that much.
"I've never done this before so, not really. But I do want you," Sasuke smirked. Gaara both loved and hated that silky purr. "I want to feel you inside me, Gaara."
Suddenly, Gaara didn't want to tease him anymore, he rolled Sasuke over. The Uchiha laid back, sprawling out all over the pillows and then dragged him into a passionate kiss.
But that was as far as they got before there was a knock at the antechamber door.
