Haggar's Fortune part 4

Haggar, Allura and Katie continued through the customs house, killing a few pirates until they reached a bridge that went over a huge opening in the customs house.

Allura was surprised to see that this huge hole was responsible for flooding the entire colony. "How does something like this happen?" She asked while filming with her camera.

"Do you see those scorch marks?" Haggar asked while pointing to the scorch marks across the hole below them.

Allura nodded. "Uh-huh?"

"Looks like somebody packed this place with enough gunpowder to blow it wide open."

Suddenly, they felt the bridge start to creak, making Katie a bit worried. "O-okay... looks safe enough."

Haggar nodded while warning them both as they began crossing the bridge. "Watch where you step. Some of these boards are really falling apart-"

But suddenly, Allura fell through some boards. "Aaaah!"

Haggar and Katie quickly spinned around and grabbed hold of Allura's hand! "ALLURA!"

While both held Allura's hand, the Altean reporter couldn't give them the other one as she held her camera, making Haggar call to her. "Allura, we can't hold on! You gotta give us your other hand! You've got to let it go."

Seeing no other option, Allura let go of the video camera and gave her other hand to them. "Damn it!" And as the video camera fell down into the water while Haggar and Katie helped Allura back up the bridge, the Altean reporter looked sad, as she now didn't have anything to prove their expedition now. "Oh, shit."

Haggar patted her shoulder. "It's okay. C'mon... we've got to keep going."

Allura sighed while following Katie and Haggar. "All right, I'm coming."

They then headed up stairs and jumped out the window before going into the tunnel on the right before Haggar saw a pirate with his back turned and quickly got close enough to snap his neck before seeing another pirate on the nearby staircase that Katie quickly shot in the head before they all went up the stairs and got outside before engaging more pirates, which Haggar and Katie easily killed before they reloaded their ammo and saw some jet skis.

"This river should take us right up to the monastery." Haggar told her friends before they got on the jet skis and headed up river, going against the current and fighting their way up some rapids, constantly trying not to get poured back down. Haggar then saw some flammable barrels floating down but Allura shot them all with her gun, along with Katie before they saw some pirates and quickly killed them all while being very careful not to let the currents take them backwards until they finally got to the docks of the monetary.

As they stepped off the jet skies, Haggar asked Allura while helping her off the boat "Hey. You alright?"

The Altean reporter nodded. "Yep. Better than before."

While checking their ammo, Haggar told her friends. "Okay, let's head up to the monastery and see what's going on."

They then made their way towards the monastery, killing a few more pirates until they reached stone steps. Haggar and Katie walk slowly up the steps, but Allura ran on ahead of her treasure hunter friends.

Haggar walked a bit faster to catch up to Allura while calling out to her. "Would you slow down? One of Eddy's goons could be up ahead."

Katie agreed with her, trying to catch up to the both of them. "Yeah. You never know who might just jump out of the bushes."

Allura ensured her treasure hunter friends while still moving. "Come on, we left those clowns in the dust ages agoooooOHMYGOD!" Before she suddenly was startled when she saw a pirate's corpse impaled on several spikes. "That's disgusting! Oh, I wish I had my camera."

Katie checked the trap to examine it. "Huh. The Spanish must have booby-trapped the island to protect their gold."

Haggar checked the trap too and shook her head. "This wasn't made by the Spanish. Take a closer look at the spikes."

Both Katie and Allura looked closely at the spikes and saw that several were made from... parts of their plane! "You have got to be kidding me." Allura said.

Katie was confused also. "This... this is from our plane. But that doesn't make any sense."

Allura shared the same feeling as Katie. "Yeah. Why would someone set traps like this when their own men are crawling all over the island?"

"They wouldn't." Haggar said while checking the mud, seeing claw-like footprints. "Something's been here since the trap was sprung."

"Something or someone?" Allura asked worriedly.

This whole thing didn't make any sense to Katie. "Then... who the hell would-"

"Shh sh sh!" Haggar suddenly hushed the others, while she looked around. "Do you guys hear that?"

"Hear what?" Allura asked.

Katie tried to listen and said. "I don't hear anything, Haggar."

Haggar nodded and took out her gun while she kept looking around. "That's just it. Absolutely nothing. We're being watched."

Allura was now really getting scared and stood closer to Haggar while Katie looked around before she said. "Or... maybe it's just nothing?"

After seeing nothing at all, Haggar nodded. "Yeah, it's probably nothing. Um... Let's just get out of here before we run into whatever's been chewing on this guy." She said while walking away with the others. Allura and Katie nodded, not wanting to stay with this pirate corpse.

As they came up some stairs, Haggar saw a guard standing on top and she quickly shot him before seeing another guard with a laser sight gun, obviously a military weapon before quickly shooting him as well. "Allura. Katie, be careful. These guys are better trained than those fucking pirates and they have laser sight guns!"

"And they look like Galra, so they must be Lotor's and Sendak's guys. Great. Just much bigger trained and smarter scumbags to worry about." Katie said with sarcasm as she took cover and began shooting some of the Galra soldiers, along with Allura.

Once the more trained Galra scumbags were dead, Haggar and Katie took some of their ammo. "Lotor and Sendak can't be far off, if they've left their attack dogs at the gate."

When they reached the monastery, Katie spotted two mercenaries patrolling by the entrance below them and called out to her friends. "Guards! Hide!" She whispered before all three of them hid behind a wall.

One of the mercenaries then took out his walkie-talkie and said. "Go ahead."

The person who answered was none other than their leader Lotor, telling his employees. "I want the library secure. Don't let them get to Ezor."

The Galra mercenary answered. "Yes sir." Before he hung up the walkie-talkie and said to his partner. "They've got that woman working on the east side of the complex. I don't even know why they brought her along. That bitch can't be trusted."

Haggar and Katie then quickly shot both of them in the head before jumping down before taking care of the other 2. Once they were all dead, they walked with Allura to the main part of the monastery.

"Haggar. Katie, I've got a bad feeling about this place." The Altean reporter said with worry.

"I know. We do too, Allura. Just stay close and be careful. These guys are better trained than those fucking pirates." Katie advised her friend.

"Let's just get Ezor and get the hell outta here." Haggar told them, knowing that this had all gone far enough.

They then went around the area, killing all the guards that were there, with Haggar using her skills and guns while Katie stayed close to Allura. Once the guards were all dead, Haggar went to a doorway and killed 1 more guard before climbing up on the pillars to get to a broken wooden floor. "Katie, stay with Allura, and I'll try to find a way past that door for you 2." She said before kicking down a broken gate and getting to the other side of the wall and shooting the powder barrels to blow up the door Allura and Katie were behind.

"Nice job, Haggar." Katie said with a smile.

Haggar nodded before going to a nearby crank and operated it to open the big door before it closed up again. "Damn."

"Hey, Haggar, let me hold that while you and Allura brace the gate open." Katie said before holding the crank as Haggar and Allura held the door open, briefly looking at each other before bracing the gate open and holding it up as Katie got through and held it open from the other side and allowing the 2 Alteans to get through before she let go.

Once they got through the gate, they found themselves in an almost open area before a sniper shot at them! They took cover and Haggar used a nearby Dragon sniper gun to kill the snipers and the ones with the laser sight guns while carefully making every sniper bullet count before Katie and Allura killed the others while staying close to each other.

Once the guards were all dead, Allura saw a nearby building and said. "That must be the library right there."

"Yeah. But we're not just gonna go through the front door. Let's find another way in and scope things out." Haggar told them, knowing that Lotor and Sendak would be expecting them to come through the front door.

When they enter the library through a hole in the wall, Haggar stopped Allura and Katie when she heard Ezor's voice. All three crouched down and looked down into the bottom level of the library below, seeing Ezor having a talk with two Galra guards, with one of them sitting in a chair and a second mercenary standing beside the table.

"She worked in this little bar in the Philippines... Oh man, she had a smile that'd melt your heart. But oh, I swear by the Gods, she'd just as soon kill you as kiss you, if she caught you steppin' out. Just a wee bit of a thing. She couldn't have been much more than four-eleven. They called her "the spinner" because she-"

"Will you shut up, woman? You told us that story several times already." The Galra mercenary in the chair said, being annoyed by hearing that tale again.

Ezor shrugged. "Pfff! Fine. It's just a... good memory, that's all. I've shared two great weeks with her, not to mention in the bedroom too."

The Galra mercenary rolled his eyes and asked impatiently. "What the hell's taking you so long, anyway?"

Ezor took a book and explained. "Well, maybe you hadn't noticed, but most of these books are half-rotten. And written in 16th century Spanish."

"Yeah well, hurry it up. The boss is waiting on you."

As the second mercenary was about to smoke a cigarette, before getting it swapped out his hand by Ezor, he growled and asked. "The fuck did you do that for?!"

"Cause I despise those disgusting things, that's why! You wanna do that, go do it outside!" Ezor said with a serious face.

He then growled before he suddenly spotted Haggar, Allura and Katie on the balcony above. "Hey! Up there!"

"Oh fuck me!" Haggar said while quickly shooting at the Galras.

A few of the guards were then shot before Haggar used her martial arts skills to kill a few more before spotting one of them pointing his gun at Allura. "Oh fuck no you don't!" Haggar said with rage before going to him fast and bringing her hand to his chest where his heart was, driving the bone into his vital organ!

Allura was so grateful for that that she planted a kiss on Haggar's cheek, making her blush before she saw that Katie had killed the last guard while placing her hand on the place where Allura had kissed it before she snapped herself out of the surprise.

Ezor then showed herself after hiding behind the table, feeling relieved to see her friends again. "Ah, man. It's about time you showed up."

Haggar frowned at her. "Well, you're looking awfully good for a corpse."

"So you brought the Altean reporter after all, huh?" Ezor asked while pointing with her thumb to Allura.

"Excuse me?" Allura asked while raising an eyebrow.

Haggar became angry at Ezor. "Hey, if it wasn't for her you wouldn't be getting rescued right now."

"If this is a rescue." Katie said while crossing her arms, narrowing her eyes at Ezor.

Ezor looked surprised. "Whoa, slow down there cowgirl. What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

"You gotta admit Ezor." Haggar stepped in. "This all looks a little shady."

Katie nodded. "We got a word for that. It's called: Suspicious."

"Yeah. You tipping those guys off."

"And miraculously showing up alive." Allura added.

Ezor waved with her hands, trying to explain. "Now wait just a minute. Lotor had a contract out on me. I needed to buy some time." Then she shrugged. "All right, stupid mistake. I didn't realize they'd try and track us."

Haggar sighed heavily. "Ezor, we would have all been heading home with the treasure by now if you had just for once kept your mouth shut!"

Ezor frowned at Haggar. "And you might've thought of checking for a pulse before running off with Katie and leaving me for dead!"

Haggar turned her back at Ezor, even though she was right.

Ezor then tried to shake it off. "Look, none of that matters now."

However, it still didn't explain to Allura why Ezor was still alive. So she asked. "All right, so how is it you're standing here breathing and all, huh?"

Ezor chuckled and took Francis Drake's journal from her pocket, showing it to Haggar and Kaite. "You are not gonna believe this."

As Haggar and Katie looked at the journal, both saw that it had a bullet-hole in the middle of it. Both now got why Ezor was still alive: Drake's journal took the bullet.

Haggar took the journal, not believing that Ezor had survived that while smiling. "No way! Ol' Francis took a bullet for you?"

"Yeah."

Katie took the journal too and looked at it. "Unbelievable! I thought those things only happened in the movies."

Ezor nodded. "Yeah, well, it still hurt like hell, I'll tell you that."

Allura laughed while seeing the journal while Katie then hugged Ezor, which she returned. When they broke the hug, Ezor stated. "Anyway, once they realised I wasn't dead, I convinced Lotor that they'd never find the treasure without me. So I've been trying to mislead them ever since, waiting for you to show up."

"Well, where are they now?" Haggar asked.

Ezor chuckled. "I sent those Galra with no brains to a false lead at the other side of the monastery, to get rid of them." She answered before she took back the diary and opened it, showing the rest what she'd discovered. "Look, Drake had it all figured out." She then pointed to a symbol with crossed keys on the diary. "See that's the symbol the Spanish used to mark their secret vaults. The treasure is hidden right here in this monastery. Find the symbol...

"And we find the vault." Haggar, Katie and Ezor said simultaneously.

Ezor then gave the diary back to Haggar. "We have everything we need right here. All the clues to take us right to the treasure. We can do this, sister. We cool now?" She asked.

Haggar smiled at Ezor and gave her a hug. "Always."

Then Allura stepped in between Haggar and Ezor and put an arm around them. "All right, you treasure hunters aren't gonna get all chummy and leave the Altean reporter behind again, are you?"

Ezor looked at Haggar, who said with a wink. "Don't even think about it, Ezor. She's got a mean right hook."

"I'll keep that in mind." Ezor said with a smirk.

"You better, Ezor. And besides, we still owe her since her camera didn't make it. Maybe when this is all over, we could all have a party to celebrate." Katie said with a smile.

"That'd be great, Katie. And maybe Haggar could give Ms Fisher here a little… private party after our fancy club dancing is over. And trust me, Allura. You're gonna have the night of your life when that happens." Ezor said with a wink and a smile, making Allura blush.
