Volleyball at the Beach
Okinawa Beach, Okinawa Island, Japan
It is a beautiful day on the beach of Okinawa Island. Quite a day for not only our twelve heroes (plus Happy), but also the Fairy Tail and Karasuno members to play a fun game of volleyball per Karasuno's suggestion, and in a big area where everyone can play. They also created a smooth, metallic floor thanks to the metal-based magics of Gajeel and Evan for easier friction.
Right now, there are two teams playing on the court known as Teams Red and Blue.
Team Red consisted of Hinata and Tsukishima (middle blockers), Nishinoya (libero), Natsu and Luffy (outside hitters), Ruby (setter) and Daichi (opposite hitter).
Team Blue consisted of Ichigo and Cana (middle blockers), Romeo (libero), Asahi and Tanaka (outside hitters), Kageyama (setter) and Gray (opposite hitter).
Being the usual referee, Happy immediately blew the whistle.
"Play ball!" Happy hollered.
The whistle blew as Kageyama started to do a strong jump serve to kick things off.
The ball flew straight towards Daichi, who received it nicely. It flew straight to Ruby, who got into position and tossed the ball to Hinata. The tiny blocker attempted to spike, but missed on purpose as the ball was actually for Natsu, spiking through a double block of Ichigo and Asahi and scoring the first point for Team Red.
(Team Red: 1 | Team Blue: 0)
"First point for us!" Natsu hollered, followed by a cheer from Hinata, Ruby, Luffy and Nishinoya.
"Nice serve!" Hinata hollered.
Now, Natsu was up to serve and smacked the ball so hard Asahi barely managed to receive it in time.
"Man! His serves are as intense as his magic!" Asahi thought.
"Chance ball!" Tanaka hollered, bumping the ball to Ruby, who immediately received, making her unable to set.
Daichi bumped the ball to Luffy, who managed to spike over Ichigo, but Romeo did a rolling receive to catch the ball in time and send it back over to Kageyama.
"Gray-san!" Kageyama hollered.
Gray jumped and prepared to spike, but a triple block of Tsukishima, Natsu and Ruby blocked his path. However, the ice wizard smirked and did an unexpected feint over the trio and in the spot Nishinoya or Hinata couldn't dig in time, scoring a point for Team Blue.
(Team Red: 1 | Team Blue: 1)
"Nice you three fell for that one." Gray said, with a teasing remark, enjoying the growling looks on Natsu and Ruby's faces, but most enjoying the annoyed expression of Tsukishima.

"Gray-sama is so amazing!" Juvia cheered, siding on Team Blue.
"Fell for that fake big time!" Percy hollered, also siding with Team Blue.
"Can't believe Gray fooled Tsuki. Again." Yamaguchi muttered, siding on Team Red.
"He just loves doing that, doesn't he?" Lisanna asked, siding with Team Red as well.

Team Blue was now in the lead by one point after Tanaka did a cross shot that landed right in the court.
Cana was now up to spike as Ichigo and Romeo switched with Ichigo on the bench and Romeo on the field.
Cana did a stationary serve that made Natsu receive and Ruby to make a set.
"Center!" Hinata hollered.
Ruby tossed the ball to Hinata, who jumped to his peak as a double block of Cana and Tanaka came to intercept him. Hinata managed to aim for the tip of Tanaka's right hand (his right pinky and ring fingers), hit the ball at that spot and attempted to perform a blockout, which worked perfectly as Team Red tied up with Team Blue once again.
(Team Red: 9 | Team Blue: 9)
"Oh yeah!" Natsu, Hinata, Ruby, Luffy, Nishinoya and Daichi hollered in unison.

"Nice blockout, Shoyo!" Yachi hollered, acting as team manager for Team Red.
"He's getting better and better every time he plays." Lucy commented, standing from the sides as a cheerleader with Levy and some fangirls on the beach.
"Shoyo is amazing." Kuroko commented, on Team Red which spooked Yachi, Lucy and several of Team Red's reserve members on the bench.
"HOW DOES HE KEEP DOING THAT?!" Lucy and Yachi thought in unison.

By 13 points, both teams decided to switch players for others to have some fun. But only Hinata and Kageyama wanted to play the whole game and no one argued.
The new line-up for Team Red consisted of Hinata and Naruto (middle blockers), Kuroko (setter; wanted to see how his misdirection passes works in a different sport and got some lessons in), Rin and Elfman (outside hitters), Kouga (libero) and Goku (opposite hitter).
The new line-up for Team Blue consisted of Kageyama (setter), Juvia and Ennoshita (outside hitters), Percy and Izuku (middle blockers), Erik (opposite hitter) and Evan (libero).
Sugawara, siding with Team Blue, immediately stepped up as a pinch-server in place of Percy, who just left the court right after Izuku joined in.
Sugawara did a normal serve as the ball came flying towards Goku, but Naruto quickly received in time.
"Thanks!" Goku hollered.
Naruto grinned in reply.
The ball came flying where the setter usually is. But no one is there.
But that became apparent as the ball suddenly came to Team Blue's side and scored a point… for Team Red?!
(Team Red: 14 | Team Blue: 13)
"What the?!" Juvia, Ennoshita, Izuku and Erik exclaimed in unison.
"Of course it was you." Kageyama said, eyebrow twitching in annoyance.
The source came from none other than Hinata and Kuroko, known as the "Freak Sports Duo"; Hinata and Kuroko gave each other a hi-five.
Sugawara left the court as Percy came in. Elfman was up to serve and served very hard, getting a point after a failed receive on Percy.
(Team Red: 15 | Team Blue: 13)
"Nice shot, bro!" Lisanna hollered.
"MANLY~!" Elfman shouted, earning cheers from Hinata, Rin, Kouga and Goku.

(Team Red: 24 | Team Blue: 23)
Now it's match point for Team Red as both teams did one more team match-up with Hinata and Kageyama still on the court… again.
The third and final Team Red consisted of Hinata and Tsukishima (middle blockers), Natsu and Rin (outside hitters), Ruby (setter), Kouga (libero) and Goku (opposite hitter). Team Blue's final line-up consisted of Kageyama (setter), Juvia and Asahi (outside hitters), Percy and Ichigo (middle blockers), Evan (libero) and Gray (opposite hitter).
The person up for this final serve is Natsu, who did a powerful jump serve that came for Gray's direction.
Gray easily received much to his smirking and Natsu's annoyance.
"Nice receive!" Kageyama hollered, getting under to set.
"Left!" Asahi hollered.
Kageyama tossed the ball to Asahi as he got ready to spike.
"Triple block!" Percy hollered, seeing a triple block of Goku, Hinata and Rin getting in Asahi's way.
But Asahi did a delayed spike as he threw off the blocker's timing and spiked the ball over Rin's right hand.
"Nice, Asahi!" Percy hollered.
The ball was flying, but in the nick of time, Kouga dug the ball outside the area before it hit the ground, sending the ball back to his team.
"Last hit!" Kouga hollered.
"Left!" Natsu hollered.
Ruby tossed the ball to Natsu after it came to her direction, allowing the fire wizard to perform a strong cross shot again, but Ichigo saw it coming and received the ball.
"Come on!" Natsu hollered.
Kageyama quickly tossed the ball to Percy, who spiked over Rin as the Nephilim tried to block, but Hinata managed to receive cleanly in the nick of time.
"Nice, Hinata!" Ruby hollered.
"Leave this to me!" Hinata hollered, running towards the net.
Natsu, Rin and Goku followed behind for a team synchronized attack.
Team Blue kept their eyes on the ball, but Ruby was able to send it to Hinata in the nick of time as he slammed the ball down, scoring the last point for Team Red. Happy blew the whistle when the final play was made.
(Team Red: 25 | Team Blue: 23)
"Team Red wins!" Happy hollered.
"Oh… YEAH~!" Hinata shouted, along with Natsu, Ruby, Rin, Goku and Kouga and the rest of Team Red cheered in victory.
Team Blue lost, but smiled as they had a lot of fun. Even Kageyama of having to play for fun.
By far the longest chapter I've done in the Summer Chronicles! Surprised even Kuroko knows how to play volleyball! Next chapter coming up will be Kuroko's sport next!
