Lincoln held Ms. Smiles hand as they entered the courtroom. He slowly walked to his spot next to his lawyer as he watched his sisters take their seats, along with his parents.

Mrs. Xiuying sat in her spot, scanning the room with a mildly nervous expression on her face. The case was not going in her or her clients' favor, and she needed to think fast if they were going to win the case. A difficult task, considering who she was up against. Mr. Jutzi was a dramatic man, but he was efficient at his job.

"All rise!" The judges yelled, and everyone in the courtroom obeyed. "We are here today to resume the case of Mr. and Mrs. Loud, charged for child neglect. The time is now 10:23 AM, you may now begin your defense."

Everyone sat back down.

"I would like to call Leni Loud to the stand." Mrs. Xiuying said, gesturing the seventeen year old to the stand. They have gone over what the lawyer wanted her to say, and she hoped that she could help win the case.

"Objection!" Mr. Jutzi objected.

"On what grounds?" Mrs. Field questioned.

"Leni isn't fit to be before the court. She doesn't have the mental capacity to understand what's going on."

Rita was about to yell at the man for c talking about her daughter like that, but her lawyer stopped her.

"What do you mean? I can totally be in front of the court!" Leni said.

All of her family members glared at her. Mr. Jutzi and Mrs. Fields gave each other a look.

Leni was lead to the stand, while she was playing with her fingers nervously. A bible was placed on the stand.

"Please confirm that you are Leni Loud." Mrs. Xiuying said.

"I'm Leni Loud!" She confirmed enthusiastically.

"Do you swear on this bible, before the American flag and before God himself, that you will tell the truth and nothing but the truth?"

"Of course I will! Why wouldn't I?" Leni said.

The Bible was taken away.

"So Leni, you are a smart girl. How is your work with your fashion going?" Mrs. Xiuying asked.

"It's going great! I have made lots and lots of clothes!" Leni responded.

"And how is your work at school going?" Mrs. Xiuying questioned.

"It's also going great! Some of the classes are hard, but I think I'm doing great at the work!" Leni replied cheerfully.

Mrs. Xiuying nodded, satisfied at Leni's responses.

"Your honor, despite how Leni usually acts, I can assure you she is an intelligent girl who receives great education from school." Mrs. Xiuying told the judge.

...Now, it was Mr. Jutzi's turn.

"Your honor, I will do the same thing I did with Lana Loud. I will take into account Ms. Loud's problems." Mr. Jutzi said to the judge. He then walked over to Leni.

"We will start with a few simple questions. Firstly, what is your name?" Mr. Jutzi asked.

"Leni!" She replied.

"Good. Now how old are you?"

Leni gave him a blank stare, before counting on her fingers. Everyone waited patiently.

"I don't know!" Leni admitted, stressed out. Mr. Jutzi noticed.

"It's okay if you don't know right now. Thank you for being honest." Mr. Jutzi assured her. "These questions might get a bit harder. If you need a break from these questions, please tell us. First question. How are your grades at the moment?"

"Mom and Dad say I'm doing great! I got the same thing for everything! Though I don't know what that F that's always on my report cards mean." Leni said honestly.

"You get Fs?" Mr. Jutzi asked.

"Yep. Mom and dad say that they mean that I'm doing fantastic!" Leni replied.

The jury looked at her worriedly, some of them glaring at her parents. At her age, she should definitely know about how the grading system worked.

Mr. Jutzi nodded, his suspicions proven correct. "How hard is the school work? If it's hard, do your parents help out or get a tutor for you?" Mr. Jutzi asked.

"The work is really hard, but I try my best! My parents don't help me with school work. They say that I can do it by myself, or get Lisa to help me! But I don't like asking her for help, it's too hard and she gets mad when I can't do something right." Leni rambled a bit.

"Alright, last few questions. You're doing great. Have your parents ever taken you to a psychologist or gotten you tested for any conditions?" Mr. Jutzi asked.

"What does psycho-logist and condi-tons mean?" Leni asked.

The jurys' eyes widened. Those should be simple words that she should know at her age!

"Sorry. Have your parents ever taken you to a special kind of doctor that helps with brains to see if you have something that is making schoolwork hard for you?" Mr. Jutzi simplified.

"Nope! They said I don't need one."

"May I ask why they think that?" Mr. Jutzi asked.

"They said that there is nothing wrong with me and that I'm perfect the way I am!" Leni exclaimed cheerfully. "Why would I need a doctor anyway? I'm not sick!"

Mr. Jutzi frowned. This poor kid has never gotten the help she needed because of her parents. Sure, some parents don't want to get their kids diagnosed for learning or developmental disorders because they don't want that label on them, or some other reason, like simply not being able to afford it. But there's a difference between that and blatantly ignoring that their kid needs help and failing to give them the help they need.

"Alright Leni. I got what I needed, so you can head back to your seat. Thank you for your help." Mr. Jutzi said finally, gesturing to the empty seat.

Leni did just that, but she couldn't help but get an awful feeling in her gut.

Like she just doomed her parents.
