Chapter 5: Training Days
[6:00 A.M. at the Owl House, after the talk with Shatter Squad yesterday, also known as the other humans that somehow magically appeared on the Boiling Isles. Luz couldn't stop thinking about how everything will go from here. This power she received, the enemies she will face, and the thought of her friends getting hurt in the process. It was just a mix of ideas bottled up in her head. But right now she and the occupants of the Owl House were soundly asleep, like nothing could go wrong]
[Until a loud military horn starts playing from the outside of her house waking everyone up]
Luz: WHOA!
[Alarmed by the noise Luz falls off her bed, well not fall just was very startled, and shocked, you get the idea, as for everyone else]
Eda: (angry and annoyed) Titan damnit what is that?! I will literally do anything to make it stop.
King: (in pain) It hurts my ears!
Luz: (tired and annoyed) Ugh, What time is it?
Lilith: (tired) Is it an enemy attack?
Eda: No, it's too early for one of those.
Luz: I think it's coming from outside.
[Everyone looks out the door and sees Arthur in his combat outfit. A suit of white body armor wearing a red hoodie underneath, along with a pair of jeans, with leg armor, with brown gloves. And as they saw him with an excited grin on his face, Arthur began yelling in an eager tone.]
Arthur: Sorry, that was meant for Luz, I didn't know you guys would wake up.
[everyone but Luz give him looks of rage]
Arthur: I'll turn off the horn.
[King furiously runs up to him and grab him by the hood]
King: DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS?!
Arthur: It's six in the morning.
King: YES, AND THE KING OF DEMONS NEEDS HIS SLEEP! SO WHY THE HELL WOULD PLAY THAT HIDEOUS MUSIC SO EARLY IN THE MORNING?!
Arthur: It's a life strategy, the earlier you wake up, the better chance you have at a successful life.
[Turns to Luz]
Arthur: What do ya say Luz, you ready for the first day of training?
[Luz taps her face with both hands twice, and looks up at him with a smile on her face, looking ready for training]
Luz: Let's do this!
[the training montage begins at their ship first part of training was strength training with West]
West: Now when it comes to strength training, it will help you keep up your stamina, and the higher the stamina, the longer your Spirit power can stay active.
[As he goes on explaining, Luz goes on doing squats, pushups, and situps]
[West stands in front of Luz with a clipboard in his hand]
West: But it's not good to overdo it or your body will be exhausted so you will have to do this workout routine I will give you. Has everything you will need in order in order to keep your strength and stamina going.
[Hands over the clipboard with the workout routine]
[Luz tries to do at least on pull up but is too struggles and falls down]
[Eda, King, Lilith and Kotoha watch in the background, and as they are watching Kotoha laughs silently]
[Moving onto A.X.E.L.'s training, hand to hand combat, both are in fighting poses as A.X.E.L explains his part of the training]
A.X.E.L.: It's not all the time you can rely on your spirit to help you in combat, I heard from your mentor you can do magic, but you mostly rely on that, but when you're out of glyphs..
[A.X.E.L. and Luz begin to fight as Luz throws the first punch, but her teacher dodges, and grabs her by the hand and puts her down]
A.X.E.L.: ...you gotta make up for it in fighting ability. Let's go again.
[Eda gets mad but watches Luz get up, preparing to go another round]
[Moving onto Coco's part of training, she teaches Luz about weapon maintenance, with a board in front of her. Luz listens as she takes down notes.]
Coco: Alright sweetie when it comes to weaponry, you always have to know what the limits of your weapon are, how to use it, and always have a backup when needed.
Luz: What kind of weapon do you have?
Coco: Sweetie if you must know,
[she opens her closet revealing many types of firearms]
Coco: I have an assortment of firearms because my Spirit power lacks in combat. I have guns ranging from pistols, rifles, shotguns, and much more. I wouldn't recommend giving a firearm to a child because that means more people getting hurt. But if giving them to your witch friends means them accidentally getting hurt. It would give me an accidental opportunity to study them personally.
Luz: (nervous) *chuckles* you don't really mean that do you?
[Coco grins evilly and looks at the occupants of the Owl House outside listening in the lesson, especially at Lilith and King]
Coco: Maybe.
[Lilith and King feel chills down their spine as she glares at them evilly]
King: Uh?
[Arthur's training includes Spirit Power and explains it to her]
Arthur: Training in Spirit Power means learning to fight alongside each other as partners. So in order to bond, I'll need you to practice using your power for an hour without powering down, against me and my Crimson Dragon.
[Arthur proceed to bring out the red dragon, and it charges at Luz, but the young witch brings out Azura, the both begin to clash head to head, Luz draws glyphs and fires multiple elements at the flying reptile, but the dragon dodges each coming attack and breathes out fire which Luz attempts to block but is blown away by the impact causing her spirit to disappear]
[Eda and the gang keep watching her get up, but West walks up to them]
West: Worried about your kid?
[Eda notices he is behind her]
Eda: What do you want?
West: I know how you feel about this.
Eda: Really, cause you guys are training Luz like crazy and looking at her it looks like she can't go another minute over there.
West: Yeah, she really is trying hard. Honestly when Arthur first mentioned her I thought he was bluffing about her. A spirit power I can believe, but taking on a huge opponent and almost not surviving sounded crazy.
[Eda grunts and yells at him]
Eda: Hey that's my kid down there!
West: And lemme guess, you would kill anyone who tried to harm her?
Eda: Yeah.
[West sighs and points to the bottom bench]
West: This spot taken?
[Eda gestures him to sit with her, and so proceeds in doing so]
West: Listen, I know you're worried about your kid, I know the feeling. But if Arthur promises to keep her safe, I know he can do it.
Eda: And what if he can't?
West: Hmm?
Eda: If something happens to her if they encounter those bozos again, I'm worried she might not come back. I promised her things, to keep her safe, to teach her magic. But right now me and Lily are still trying to find her a way home, but that's not going well. We lost our powers due to my curse and now we can't do anything. If something bad were to happen to her it would be my fault.
[Lilith listens and begins to think back to the incident at the Emperor's castle. Eda looks down in depression, knowing she can't use her powers, she can't protect Luz like she used to, with everyone coming after her. Luz getting hurt was the last thing Eda wanted right now]
Eda: Luz means everything to me, if it wasn't for her being in my life, I would have still been..well myself, but when she came into my life. It felt like I had a family again.
West: Well I lost someone in my life too ya know. My daughter.
[Eda looks up at him shocked after hearing that piece of information]
West: Her name was Connie. She was Luz's age when she died. When she was young she awakened to her Spirit Power which caused an unknown disease in her system. She was dying. No matter how much care the doctors could give her, it still wasn't enough. But Galaxy Labs told me they had a solution to help her. So I did what any father would do to help their child.
[Eda thinked to herself and wondered what exactly he did and it hit her]
Eda: You gave her up?
West: *angered* Unfortunately yes. They managed to help her, but what I didn't know was their plan afterwards. They turned her into a weapon. They gave her to Project Roundtable. And she became one of their best soldiers. Until one day she never came back from a mission. I was told she was killed in action. It was the worst thing to ever happen to me.
Eda: Why are you telling me this?
West: Because I want you to know, ever since that incident. I vowed to protect my children. And I promise you I can protect Luz, we can make sure nothing bad happens to her. But that's now why I came here.
Eda: Oh, then why did you come here?
West: I came here. To give the three of you the chance to help her.
[Eda's ears twitch after hearing those exact words]
Eda: How exactly?
West: You may not have magic within you, but I sensed deep down, there may be a spirit dwelling inside you and your sister. And that dog thing. If we can find out what can trigger it, then maybe you all might be able to fight.
Eda: How do I know you're not lying to me?
[West puts his hand on Eda's shoulder and puts his head closer to hers, Eda blushes a bit tempting to push him away, but is stopped by the yellow aura that pours out of her and the tan aura pouring out of him.]
West: This Aura you see around you, is proof you have power within you. Everyone in the universe possesses one. For some it takes time to unleash it. But yours feels like it is waiting for the right moment to come out.
[West removes his head]
West: Believe me now.
[Eda looks at her body watching the aura radiate from her but it soons begins to fade and disappear]
Eda: Is there a way we can draw whatever inside me out?
West: It's possible, but if you want to keep it up, it will take a bit of training until it can appear. Well at least that's how I drew mine out. So I'm offering you the chance, if you want to help your kid, I'll help you, Lilith and your pet bring them out.
Eda: If it's for Luz you can count me in.
West: We start as soon as Luz leaves for that magic school you kept talking about. Deal.
[West points his fist at Eda]
Eda: Uh, what am i supposed to be doing here?
[West raises an eyebrow and realizes they might not have fist bumps on the isles]
West: you tap it with your fist.
Eda: Oh, uh alright.
[Eda taps her fist against his gesturing the fist bump]
Eda: Heheh.
[During their discussion almost an hour has passed, and Luz felt weak after fighting Arthur's Crimson Dragon. The more she got up the more times her Spirit power would fade away quickly. But as she got up hopefully for the last time, Arthur puts his hand up]
Arthur: *cheery* Alright I think that's enough. An hour has passed. I gotta say not bad for the first time.
Luz: *sigh* whoo
[Luz proceeds to fall to the ground glad that it's finally over, covered in sweat from everything she has been through today Arthur stand next to her lying body looking down on her with a warm smile on his face]
Arthur: If I were to suggest something though, don't stress yourself too much because too much strain on the body can damage your aura.
Luz: *chuckles weakly* now you tell me.
[Arthur offers his hand, and Luz accepts it and gets pulled up]
Arthur: I'd say that wraps up training for today, I think it's about time you head to school. Hexside was it.
Luz: *happy* Yup, Hexside School of Witches and Demonics.
Arthur: So there is such a thing as magic school, usually the magic users on earth are natural born talent.
[Luz and Arthur walk to the locker rooms]
Luz: There are magic users on Earth.
Arthur: Oh yeah, there are a lot, like you they also have Spirit Power. But have stronger magic power than the stuff I've seen here. But from what I've read, you can only possess one type of magic, but you take up all of them right. What's it like?
Luz: Oh man getting to do all of them was hard, you see I was attending Hexside for the first day and then...
[As they both walk out of the training area, Kotoha watches them as they leave. As she observes them, she clenches her fist]
Kotoha: *tch* This is such bullshit!
[Kotoha walks out of the observation bay with her hair waving around]
