Chapter 26: Fire and Lightning
[The events after the so called skirmish between Kotoha and Boscha, Edric and Emira were caught in the crossfire, and were sent home to recover from being struck by lightning and waves of aura.]
[The next morning Edric eyes slowly slide open]
Edric: *in pain* Ugh! What happened?
[Edric rubs his head and takes a look at his body below. And notices that there were no signs of injuries]
Edric: Hey Em? Do you remember what happe-
[he turns to his sister and is immediately stunned at Emira side of the room]
Edric: HOLY TITAN! EM!
[First thing he sees in the morning was Emira's side of the room, covered in flames]
[Emira slowly opens her eyes after hearing Edric loud voice]
Emira: EDRIC! DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS?!
[She widens her eyes and sees the fire around her bed]
Emira: What the heck?! FIRE! ED DO SOMETHING!
[Edric trembles at the fire and creates a spell circle to douse the flames]
Edric: Don't worry sis I got you!
[A rain cloud is created and cool earth rain pours]
Edric: Huh, not what I was going for.
[thunder begins to boom]
Emira: *worried* That can't be good.
[Lightning strikes down electrocuting Emira]
Emira: AAAAAAHHHHHH!
[Edric screams as his sister is being struck by lightning]
Edric: Wait what?! Oh crap Em!
[Edric runs to his sister, and shakes her]
Edric: I swear that's not what I wanted to do!
[he blinks twice and turns back]
Edric: How did I get here so fast?
[He shakes his head knowing his mind is playing tricks on him]
Emira: *silently* Edric!
Edric: Yes?
Emira: *silently* Next time you want to use a lightning spell!
[She slaps him in the face]
Emira: DON'T USE IT ON ME!
Edric: *PAIN* AGH! I'M SO SORRY!
[Amity bursts into their room]
Amity: Do you two have any idea what time it...is?
[she sees the mess that Ed and Em made]
Amity: I'm not even going to ask what happened. Also I'm not cleaning that up.
[She walks away confused]
[The Blight Family have their breakfast. Odalia watching the crystal ball, Alador on the side working on the latest Product for Blight industries, and Amity and Emira chewing their food. Edric however finishes his fifth plate of food]
Edric: Can I have more please?
[Everyone in the room is baffled by Edric's gluttonous will. Well everyone except for Alador, he is just too tired to notice]
Odalia: Edric! What is wrong with you?!
Edric: Ugh, I'm just hungry?
Odalia: Hungry?! This is your sixth serving, and you call that hungry?!
Edric: *scared* I'm sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me.
Odalia: Well you better get your act together, because if you don't I'll be sure you'll go the rest of the day without a meal.
[Emira and Amity don't say anything for the fact that they are too scared of their mom]
Edric: *defeated* Yes mom.
Odalia: Good. Now all of you get ready for school. And if you get in trouble, well you know what happens.
[The Blight kids walk out of the kitchen]
Am, Ed, and Em: Yes mom.
[There is no training today due to a meeting between Shatter Squad only, so they spend the rest of their day at school]
[Ed and Em share a class for Boiling Isles history, both bored out of their minds, Emira yawn and places her hand on the table]
Emira: (Ugh this is so boring, wish I could be with those guys.)
[referring to Shatter Squad]
[She quickly taps her fingers]
Emira: (Why can't something fun happen today?)
[Emira takes a deep breath]
[The taps of her fingers go on too fast that it becomes a flint and generates a line of smoke]
Emira: (Ugh)
[Emira breathes through her nose again, then notices the smell of smoke]
Emira: (Wait, is something burning?)
[She tries to track the scent, and ends up looking at her finger]
Emira: (Agh no no no! Not again)
[She smacks the smoke, and her hand is suddenly set ablaze]
Emira: OH SHIT! AGH!
[She attempts to shake the fire off but it doesn't go away]
Edric: Oh my Titan Not again!
[The teacher is annoyed by the usual noises the twins cause, the student notice the fire, and they begin to panic]
Teacher: Edric and Emira! Will you keep it down?!
[he sees the fire]
Teacher: Oh my goodness!
Emira: I am so sorry!
[She keeps waving her hand around]
Edric: Don't swing it around!
[Emira stops her hand and points it to the ceiling, suddenly a flamethrower is shot up into the wall]
Emira: *terrified* AGH! No!
Teacher: *terrified* What are you doing?!
Emira: *terrified* I don't know! Edric, do something!
[Edric begins to panic until a light is lit in his head]
Edric: Don't worry I'll get help!
[Edric runs to the door, but after the first step, his body moves a hundred times faster, breaking through the door and slamming into the wall]
Edric: *Pain* *grunts* What just happened?
Emira: EDRIC!
Edric: *grunts* Don't worry Em, I'm on it!
[Edric begins to jolt thought the school causing a shockwave, pushing anything in his way]
[he slams into the wall again]
Edric: *pain* AW! What is happening?!
[He looks down and notices his clothes are in shreds]
Edric: *screams like a little girl*
[He covers himself]
Edric: Screw decency Ed, Emira needs you!
[Edric runs once more to Principal Bumps office and runs into the nearest wall]
Edric: AGH! Not again! Okay Ed, just fast paced walking from now on!
[He performs fast paced walking to Bumps office]
Edric: Damnit! What is going on!
[He makes it to principal Bump's office and knocks on his door]
Edric: PRINCIPAL BUMP! THERE'S A PROBLEM!
[Bump groans]
Bump: I swear Mister Blight if this is another...prank?
[he cringes at Edric's almost nude body, he covers his eyes]
Bump: What happened to your clothes?
Edric: Just forget it and come with me!
[Both make their way to their history classroom, with Emira unable to control the flames]
Bump: Oh my. Well there is only one way for something like this to end.
[Bump creates a spell circle getting rid of fire with a water spell, even putting out the fire on Emira, also burning some of her clothes off in the process]
Emira: Oh thank Titan.
Edric: Emira, you're okay!
Teacher: And in so much trouble! Both of you!
[The twins turn to the teacher]
Edric: Wait, teach it was an accident, I mean can't we just forget all this happened]
[He pat the History teacher's shoulder and blasted away by a Bolt of lightning]
Teacher: Aoijfufioubfiopuasdbnfousadnbvuasbcvoubsa!
[he falls to the ground]
[Bump groans and glares at the twins]
Edric: *nervous* heheh, whoops?
Emira: We have got to find out what is wrong with us.
[The next morning, Shatter Squad begins their training again, along with Kotoha and Raymond]
A.X.E.L.: Alright guys, It's been a couple of days since our last class. So West told us that he wanted to focus on helping Luz for today's training.
[the group mutters to each other]
Luz: Uhm, A.X.E.L. Why me specifically?
A.X.E.L.: Uh, West didn't say a specific reason, he just thought you might need help in training your mind share ability.
Luz: Oh.
Kotoha: Why exactly?
Coco: consider it as a bonding exercise, if Luz can use her ability to share what everyone is thinking. We might happen to learn something about one another. Maybe even share some knowledge and secrets that no one else knows about.
Willow: I'm not sure if I want to go through that again.
Coco: *surprised* Again?
[She jolts to Willow with their noses touching]
Coco: Are you saying there was a situation as similar as this one?
Willow: *creeped out* Uh? (Too close). It's a long story.
King: Meh. I got nothing to hide. It's you guys who should be hiding from me.
Gus: Is this really necessary?
Raymond: Oh relax little guy. I'm pretty sure something like this can help us. I mean, if you go into Luz's head, you might learn something about the human realm.
[Gus's ears twitch]
Gus: NOW I'M INTERESTED!
[Amity looks at Luz]
Amity: (Mind Share huh, maybe I can finally learn something from Luz's past. Use it to get closer to her) I'm in.
A.X.E.L.: Alright then, everyone but Coco and I, form a circle.
[Everyone takes their place]
A.X.E.L.: Now Luz, activate your Spirit Power.
Luz: Alright, Spirit Power. Azura.
[Azura appears behind her]
A.X.E.L.: Close your eyes and sync your energies into Luz's.
[Everyone begins to sync their aura with one another. And enter each other's minds]
[everyone in the room enter Luz's memories]
Willow: huh, so this is Luz's head. Honestly I thought it would look more, fantasy like.
Kotoha: I guess this is what it's like when we enter her memories this way.
[Amity sees a certain memory, that being her as a little kid]
Amity: Aw. How cute.
[Memories begin to fly by as they learn more about Luz, but they hit a roadblock]
King: Hey, what's this? It's got a lock on it.
[King touches it and and a wave of energy flows through Luz's head]
Raymond: King, what did you do?
King: I have no idea.
[King taps it again and another wave of energy is formed]
Luz: GAH!
[Suddenly memories begin to flash in her mind, one's to when she was five. But they weren't pleasant ones. These memories were that of being experimented on. And being tortured by three individuals. Two men and a familiar female figure who goes by the name of Merlin.]
Luz: No! Not again!
[Luz's memories play back to the extraction room of Watts]
King: Uh. What's happening?!
Amity: Maybe tapping that memory did something to Luz.
[The certain memories play through everyone's heads]
[On the outside world, everyone sweats and struggles]
A.X.E.L.: What's happening?
Coco: I think they must have triggered something.
[in Luz's mind the same scenario is shown once more, her friends carcasses lying scattered on the ground]
Willow: What is this?!
[Willow sees everything Luz sees, and notices the white light as well]
Willow: Luz! Wake up!
[She runs to Luz and shakes her]
[The white light reaches out for her]
[Everyone is suddenly shook awake by being flung to the floor of the arena]
Coco: Oh my God! Is everyone okay?!
Willow: Ugh. Barely.
Gus: King what did you do?
[Everyone pushes themselves up]
King: I have no idea what that was, or what I did. But I think I'm sure that I will never touch anything again.
Kotoha: *grunts* Yeah I went through her memories but never felt anything like that.
Raymond: That was way beyond anything I've ever seen.
[Luz gets up next]
King and Amity: LUZ!
[They both rush to her side]
King: Luz I am so sorry. I didn't know that would happen.
Luz: *pant* It's alright, not the only time I've been in this scenario.
Amity: You mean this has happened before.
Luz: When I got my Spirit Power. After fighting Kotoha, and then being rescued from Watts.
[Amity locks her lips together, and reminds herself of what Ronin has said]
Ronin: That man, Arthur, is keeping things from you and your friends. Secrets about this mission, the powers you possess, maybe something about Luz you may not even know. Arthur is a man of secrets. Do you ever question why the armour was here in the first place?
[Then is reminded of Warlord]
Warlord: Do you honestly have any idea what you and your friends have come across? Arthur and West know more about this than any of you.
[Remembering the words of Ronin and Warlord, and the prophecy of the Council of Death, it all boils down to a multitude of questions in her head]
Amity: (Luz, you think no one is noticing, but I can know when something is wrong.)
[Arthur and Eda then enters the room]
Eda: Luz, are you okay?!
Luz: Oh Eda.
[Arthur kneels down at Luz's side]
Luz: It's nothing, just a little head trauma is all.
Eda: *worried* Well that still counts as something.
[both of them grab Luz's hands]
Eda: *worried* Don't go scaring me like that okay. For now just have Coco patch you up. Then tell me about it later.
Luz: Alright.
[Arthur picks up Luz]
Eda: just don't scare me like that.
[Eda pats Luz's head]
[Amity lost in her thoughts, begins to wonder where Arthur was, what exactly is his connection to Luz, and what kind of secret he was hiding from everyone]
Amity: (*angry**growls* What are you hiding?!)
[Just then an alert is heard from the front]
West: hey Amity, you know those twin siblings of yours I think you might want to check this out. You too Coco.
[Amity and Coco enter the room where her siblings are in, the war room to be exact]
Amity: Edric, Emira what did you do this time?
[Baffled by her siblings appearance, Edric wears nothing but a loin cloth while Emira covers her hands with rubber gloves]
Amity: *confused* And what's with the get up?
Edric: For the record I did not want to dress up like this. It's the only thing that would stay intact after I run.
Amity: Uh huh.
[Amity shots up an eyebrow and turns to West]
Amity: Is this the part where you tell me what's going on?
West: Well there was this accident at school, and your siblings claim that they have abilities that caused it.
Amity: Abilities?
West: Apparently.
[Coco moves towards them and uses her finger to open Ed's eye.]
Coco: Hmmm.
[She grabs her otoscope and takes a peak in Emira's ear]
Coco: They're bodies seem to function properly. Uhm these powers of yours, do you mind if you demonstrate them to me?
Emira: Uhm can we do it in a place where there isn't much. Objects.
Edric: Yeah what she said.
[Coco gives a look of confusion]
[Edric and Emira enter an object free arena]
[Coco begins to speak through the speakers]
Coco: Okay just to see what we are dealing with, I'll need you two to reenact or retrace how exactly this happened. While you do that, Raymond will be taking down notes.
[Emira and Edric gives worried expressions to each other]
Coco: Come on, don't be shy. I'm pretty sure it's not that bad.
[Emira proceeds to remove her gloves and large amounts of fire begin to spew from her hands]
Emira: not again!
[Everyone behind the windows are shocked by the quantity of flames being emitted]
Eda: Okay? This is new.
Lilith: And a little strange.
Coco: Alright Edric, can you show us what you can do?
[Edric begins to run around like silly]
Coco: *surprised* Oh my.
[Coco turns to Raymond]
Coco: Are you taking this down Raymond?
Raymond: Well judging by what we can see, she can basically use fire. And the brother can run as fast a lightning bolt strikes.
[Coco pushes the button activating the sprinklers that put out Emira's flames]
[Emira quickly slips her gloves back on]
[Edric stops running, but his loincloth burns off.]
everyone: Agh!
[Edric immediately covers himself with his hands]
Raymond: Should we do a whole body scan on them?
Coco: Maybe that would be the best option for right now.
[The twins have their body scanned by a machine]
[Raymond taps away at his the ship's computer to figure out what is going on, some results pop up and it surprised Raymond]
[Luz, Amity, and the twins wait in the recovery unit until Coco and Raymond enter with a screen]
Amity: Did you find out what's wrong with them?
Coco: Well yes and no, some parts are still confusing. But on the contrary we happen to get the gist of it.
Raymond: Yeah~
Emira: Well what's wrong with us?
Raymond: Allow us to explain.
[Raymond turns on the Holo Screen]
Raymond: During the events of yesterday's fight between Boscha and Kotoha. You two were struck by lightning, yes?
Emira: Go on?
Raymond: Usually after you get shocked by lightning your brain short circuits and your body wouldn't function.
Coco: But then you two got blown back by what appears to be an Energy wave.
Raymond: A wave specifically made of aura with Spiritual components.
Edric: I'm not getting any of this.
Coco: Let's just get to the point. So basically after you both got hit by the Lightning and Wave of energy. It may have triggered your Aura to activate without it knowing. And when that happened you gained elemental powers in the process. Emira is able to emit flames from her hands, while Edric on the other hand gains the ability to run faster than a lightning bolt.
Luz: *confused* Uh? I'm lost.
Amity: I think you guys might want to speak more clearly about this.
Emira: Yeah, some of us don't speak nerd.
Raymond: Basically what she is saying is that the clash might have triggered your Powers to awaken early, while your spirits lay dormant within your bodies.
Edric: *confused* Uh?
Raymond: *groans* You two have Spirit Power, but it hasn't woken up yet.
Everyone: Oh~.
Edric: Why didn't you just say that?
[Luz puts her hand on her chin remembering something]
Luz: Wait from what I've learned, Aura clashes only happen when two Spirit users fight. How could Kotoha alone pull it off?
Raymond: yeah that's the part that confused us the most. Turns out it wasn't only Kotoha who was using her Spirit Power around that time.
Amity: Are you saying what I think you're saying?
Raymond: It's not clear, but the blizzard from yesterday had a source. And that source came from Boscha.
Coco: We managed to trace a Spirit Signature from her.
[Luz and Amity are amazed and confused about how Boscha pulled off a huge Blizzard like that.]
Amity: This means Boscha has Spirit Power too?
Raymond: Yeah, and if she could pull off something that powerful on her first try. Imagine what she could do if trained.
Luz: *gulp* Should we be worried?
Coco: Don't worry, I have dealt with things like this before. I'm planning on helping her the moment she wakes up.
[Emira interrupts]
Emira: Hold on a second! How exactly are Ed and I supposed to live like this?
Edric: Yeah, I don't want to risk running around naked all the time.
[West enters the room]
West: By training of course.
[Ed and Em watch as the big man enters]
Amity: Pops, are you sure you want to train them?
West: Well if they want to go about their daily lives, it's better this way.
Emira: *arrogant* You'd be willing to help us with this? Yeah I don't think so?
West: And why is that? Didn't you two say you wanted to train with us?
Emira: Well I don't think some old man can keep us with us.
Edric: Yeah, we prank old dudes like you all the time. I'd rather train with the animal guy.
[A vein pops on his head]
West: Oh I'm old now aren't I? Well how about a little lesson before we begin.
[West walks closer to the twins and cracks his knuckles]
West: And we'll start with you two trying to fight back against me with everything you got.
[The twins quake with fear]
Emira: *nervous* Heheh? Are you serious?
Edric: *gulp* Yeah now seems like a bad time.
West: Nonsense, I'm pretty sure it's fine with Amity.
Amity: Eh do what you want?
Ed and Em: HEY!
[Raymond pushes them off their seats and whispers in the ears]
Raymond: *calm* I think this is the part where you start running.
[West's Energy begins to burst]
[his shadow covers the both of them as they slowly turn around]
West: Let's begin, hell I'll give you a 2 second head start. Which starts now!
[Ed and Em teeth chitter as they begin to run, Edric faster than both of them]
Emira: Hey don't leave me here!
West: Raymond, begin prepping suits for the both of them. And Coco, get ready for daily check ups for these two, and try to understand the extent of their powers. If you'll need me, I'm going to whip some discipline into those two.
[Raymond begins to sweat and swallows his fear]
Raymond: *nervous* Yes sir!
Coco: *enthusiastic* You got it.
Amity: Uh West, can you try not to kill them on their first day. My parents may be horrible but I think they would prefer to see their children alive.
West: Can't guarantee they'll live, but look at Willow she's strong as always.
[West walks out of the room and chases the twin down]
Luz: *worried* Are they going to be okay?
Coco: Oh they'll be fine. I mean look at Willow, she went through his training and she turned out alright.
Raymond: *shivers* I almost feel bad for them.
[Everyone begins to do their own thing]
[Meanwhile Edric and Emira begin to scream in terror knowing that a Crazy and Buff old man is chasing them]
[West manages to corner Emira]
Emira: *terrified* Stay back, I know how to use this!
[Emira removes her glove and shoots large amounts of fire from her hand]
[West grins and blows the fire away in an instant]
Emira: Oh shit!
West: Time to knock some sense into you!
[Emira protects herself as West is about to land a punch, but feels nothing after the swing]
West: Hmm?
[Emira opens her eyes and notices that she wasn't hurt, the moment she saw what was going on she screamed again]
Emira: AAAAAHHHH!
[West punched a hole in her stomach]
West: Hmm this is interesting.
Emira: Interesting, your arm is in my stomach!
[West takes his arm out and the fire puts her back together]
West: Looks like your body is made of fire. Meaning no one can touch you.
[Emira grins]
Emira: Is that so?
[She points her arm at West again and fires another flame at him]
West: Agh!
[West swings his fist again, but Emira jumps through it after coming in contact with his fist]
Emira: See ya!
[Emira runs as fast as she can away from West]
[But to her surprise her arm is gripped onto tightly]
Emira: Huh?
West: You don't think I've dealt with stuff like this? Don't make me laugh.
Emira: *gulp*
[A Lightning strikes West's back]
[To him it feels like a simple tap]
Edric: Get away from my sister!
[He begins to scream like Tarzan as he zooms at his hunter]
[The moments he gets close, West punches him in face causing him to flip and fly to the other side]
West: *annoyed* Really?
Edric: *groans in pain*
[Edric becomes dizzy and walks around silly]
Emira: *annoyed* Really Ed?!
Edric: *dizzy* In my defense...I thought I would be too fast for him.
[Edric shakes out of it and falls on his butt]
West: Great, this saves me the trouble of catching your two separately.
Ed and Em: Huh?
[West's menacing smile scares the daylight of of them]
Ed and Em: *SCARED* AGH~~~
[West continues his assault on them for at least twenty more minutes.]
West: That concludes today's lesson.
[West walks away from the beaten up bodies]
West: For you two training starts at five. Don't be late.
[Emira lifts her head]
Emira: *in pain* Ugh Ed.
Edric: *in pain* yes?
Emira: Remember when I said that learning from these guys was a good idea. I take it back.
Edric: Maybe we shouldn't come back tomorrow.
Emira: But if we don't these things will keep on happening. Let's just give it a few days.
Edric: Alright.
[And so their training began.]
