Chapter 33: Detention Squad VS Sharkface
[After Viney was able to unlock her Spirit Power, the three Multi-Track students, spent the whole day honing their skills in combat! With their training with A.X.E.L. when Shatter Squad arrived at Hexside and improved their abilities and skills with their Spirit Powers, the three of them kept improving what they learned as A.X.E.L. and Emira watched all three of them.]
A.X.E.L.: Alright you three! Enough!
[The trio stops their actions and goes to A.X.E.L.]
A.X.E.L.: Ever since I arrived and began teaching combat tactics in Hexside, I got to say that out of everyone, you three have done the most excellent.
[The trio smile at each other as they feel proud of what they have accomplished]
A.X.E.L.: With that being said, I believe you three are ready for tonight's hunt. But I have to know if you all have what it takes to fight what's to come?
[Viney stands before A.X.E.L.]
Viney: After all that, I think I can speak for all of us and say, we're ready for this!
[Jerbo and Barcus nod in agreement]
A.X.E.L.: Good, I got permission from Bump to give you three the day off. So for now, you three get your rest. Trust me you'll need it. We'll head off at 20 hundred! Dismissed!
V, J, B: YES SIR!
[As the trio prepare for the coming conflict, a certain beast from the enemy base drools as he remembers the taste of the Gryphon he laid his teeth upon. The sweet and savoury flavor of raw flesh, gushing out the crimson blood of a struggling creature only makes him want more. The enticing taste of the screaming innocence only fueled his hunger, and with that in mind, he knew that it was time to hunt the beast and not leave a single drop of flesh and blood on the ground]
One: Sharkface.
[Sharkface bows to his master]
Sharkface: My liege! What brings you to my chambers?
[One walks past him]
One: Nothing in particular, I just noticed that you are in a hunting mood.
Sharkface: Is that a fact now?
One: Yes, I can tell from the drool dropping off your mouth. Whatever your teeth sank into, it must have tasted exquisite.
Sharkface: Indeed it was.
One: There has been a sign of an armor piece appearing in that same area you fought those Hexside children. I must say I'm disappointed you didn't bring any of them back.
Sharkface: It was not my fault, A.X.E.L. got in my way!
One: Ah yes, A.X.E.L., my old friend, I heard you too have quite the history together?
Sharkface: You can say that.
[Sharkface tells their story]
Sharkface: We don't know how it happened, but the moment we woke up we ended up in this strange chamber, both forced into experimentation, tortured by those who deemed us as monsters. As children we would be sentenced to hunt down certain people who wronged our abductors. I for one enjoyed killing the masses, but A.X.E.L. on the other hand, he was too soft and the more soft he became the more tortuous methods they would put him through until he became the perfect weapon. But one day those bastards from Roundtable came in and gave A.X.E.L. a fragment of the Alpha.
[One interrupts]
One: The Chi Fragment, the Alpha's senses.
[Sharkface continues his story]
Sharkface: And not only did they give power, but they took him into their home and treated him like family. I was disgusted! The man was always weak! Too gentle for his own good! I vowed that one day I would find his family and end their pathetic lives, so that way I can finally put him through that pain once again!
[Flashback ends]
One: I see.
Sharkface: And with that taste in my mouth, I can feel the rage of A.X.E.L. bursting through my head. And once I devour those witches, I'll not only go after A.X.E.L., but also his family, Shatter Squad, and everyone he ever loved until that beast bares his true fangs, and becomes what he was truly meant to be!
[One grins]
One: Interesting, I mentioned that the armor piece was in the same area you encountered A.X.E.L.
[Sharkface stands up and turns to face his master]
One: What if I told you A.X.E.L. and those students are on their way there?
[The amount of drool dripping from Sharkface becomes more intense, Sharkface widens his smile and begins to laugh like a maniac]
Sharkface: The hunt is on! A.X.E.L.!
[30 minutes before they left, Puddles insists on going with Viney, but Viney forbade her from coming along telling her it might be dangerous, just then Luz and Emira show up to check on their friend]
Luz: Hey Viney, just wanted to see if you and your team are ready for the so called "hunting trip".
Viney: Oh yeah I'm ready, but Puddles keeps insisting that I come with her.
Emira: So why don't you?
Viney: I can't. If I bring her along she'll be an easy target for Sharkface. If I just keep her here with Coco, she'll be fine.
Luz: But Coco isn't here.
Viney: What do you mean?
Emira: Actually just today, Coco had to leave the base for a while so she took Boscha with her to the knee.
Viney: Wait, isn't Boscha still unconscious?
Luz: She still is, but Coco said…
[Luz remembers what coco said to her]
Coco: I know Boscha is still asleep, but when in battle, a soldier always wakes up to the unexpected.
[Flashback end]
Luz: That's what she said.
Viney: Why the Knee specifically?
Emira: She didn't say. But she did say that if you want to hunt down Sharkface, there is one way to do it.
[45 minutes later, Sharkface begins to ferociously speed dash through the forest recognizing the scent of Puddles]
Sharkface: HAHAHAH! This scent, it's close!
[Sharkface laughs like a madman as the Forest begins to clear, he sees something flying in the sky. It had a similar scent to the beast]
Sharkface: There you are!
[Sharkface jumps high and opens his jaws wide, the moment his prey is in reach he snaps his jaw down]
[All of a sudden the objects quickly evades the attack, as it someone jumps from it's back and bashes his faces, forcing him to crash on the soil]
Sharkface: AGH! WHO DARES INTERRUPT MY MEAL!
[The attacker lands on the object and gently floats to the ground]
Viney: Hey Sharkface!
[Sharkface's eyes widened! Revealing that the attacker was none other than Viney, but more shocking to him was the object she was standing on.]
Sharkface: WHAT IS THIS?!
[Carrying Viney was indeed Puddles, but something was different about her. She did not look like the average Gryphon, but she was completely Gold, with cloud like feathers and a Dragon tail]
Viney: Good girl Puddles. Now get to safety.
[Puddles nods and begins to fly away]
Sharkface: NO!
[Sharkface attempts to chase the creature, but is stuck to the floor by some sticky substance]
Sharkface: DAMMIT! LET GO OF ME!
[Sharkface looks up to see three students standing before him, but with a new sense of style.]
[Barcus wearing one sided shoulder armor with an arm step on his left upper leg, two Oracle colored bands on his right upper leg, and the same colored armor on his lower legs]
[Jerbo with one red and yellow eye, Abomination colored disco pants, a two sided coat, one side looking like a lab coat and the other all ripped up with a Plant Track covered sleeve.]
[Viney wearing an Beast Coven colored Shirt with a Yin-Yang Symbol on her left shoulder, Healing Coven colored pants, Monk Beads on for a hair tie and Blue bandages wrapped around and covering her chest along with red shoes, and gloves]
Sharkface: It's you three?! Come back for a rematch I suppose?
[Barcus adjusts his glasses]
Jerbo: Yeah and this time, we've come prepared!
[Sharkface laughs]
Sharkface: Really?! What makes you think this won't end up like our previous encounter?!
[Viney walks to the front of her team]
Viney: You're about to find out!
[All three light up their auras]
V, J, B: SPIRIT POWER!
Jerbo: Psychiatric duo! Jekyll and Hyde!
[Jerbo's power appears on top of him]
Hyde: YOU ARE ABOUT TO HAVE A TRUE TASTE OF EVIL!
[Barcus begins to mutate into his Wolf Form. His fangs and body grow monstrously]
Barcus: FENRIR!
[Barcus howls to the moon as the Howl creates a shockwave covering a 2 mile distance]
[Viney's arms and legs begin to be covered in armor, her leg armor rising from her shoes and arm armor rising from her gloves, Golden iron, emerges from the knuckles and toe part of the shoe Viney then bashes her fists together and a staff appears and splits to form tonfa on her forearms]
[Viney's eyes are wide open as she awakens her Spirit Power]
Viney: Spirit Power! MONKEY KING! SUN WUKONG!
[Viney's Spirit Sun Wukong is revealed, a Monkey man with a crown on his head, and a red Cape with blue Gi like pants, holding his staff and standing atop on his flying Nimbus]
[Sharkface widens his grin as he knows how powerful his prey has become, deeming them as a worthy meal, Sharkface licks his teeth and continue to drool]
Sharkface: Now this! This is a meal that will certainly fill the stomach of an Apex Predator!
[Sharkface then summons his own Spirit to even the playing field]
Sharkface: Come to me my Spirit Power!
[A blackish blue Aura entraps Sharkface, as his Spirit Rises from the abyss and prepares for the hunt]
Sharkface: Prehistoric Predator! MEGALODON!
[The Ginormous Shark roars]
[In the distance A.X.E.L. watches his students, predicting how the battle will turn out, and if they need help, he'll come in no matter what.]
A.X.E.L.: (Viney, Jerbo, Barcus be careful.)
[Flashback]
A.X.E.L.: Are you sure you three won't need my assistance?
Viney: Don't worry Sensei! We got this! It's not everyday you get to hunt and fight something like this right?
A.X.E.L.: But you realize who and what you are up against?
Jerbo: We know his abilities, his motives, and his weaknesses, plus you know what they say, revenge is a dish best served cold.
[Barcus nods]
Hyde: And when the time is right! His heart will be right for the picking! MWAHAHAHAHA!
A.X.E.L.: Okay. But just know that I'll be watching, and if things get out of hand.
Viney: We know, you'll swoop in and save us! We got it.
[Flashback ends]
[A.X.E.L. grunts]
Emira: Are you just going to watch them?
A.X.E.L.: I didn't know you were coming.
Emira: *excited* You know me, if something fun comes up, I have to be there to see how it goes down!
[A.X.E.L. smiles]
A.X.E.L.: *grunts* do as you please. But if things were to go sideways, do not engage.
[Emira smiles and salutes]
Emira: Yes sir.
[Emira continues to watch]
A.X.E.L.: (I know you're not here for fun, you're worried about Viney aren't you?)
[Emira immediately feels the tension on both sides]
Emira: *concerned* (Viney, please be careful!)
[The battle begins, Barcus's Oracle Potion kicks in and foresees the first attack. It reveals that Sharkface summons his claws and attacks Jerbo by slashing him in the chest, the Fortune ends, and Sharkface does exactly what the potion told him, Barcus then alerts his group of what's to come, Jerbo notices Sharkface about to strike]
Viney: Oh no you don't!
[Viney belts him in the face and forces him to fly deeper into the forest]
Viney: Let's see how far he flies!
[Viney runs towards her foe, then shapeshifts into a harpy and follows him, Sharkface crashes hard, and rubs his head]
Viney: SHARKFACE!
[Viney detransforms and tries to punch him once more]
Sharkface: *grunt*
[Sharkface blocks with his claws]
Sharkface: Not fast enough!
[Sharkface makes his move and scratches Viney's armor, Viney looks at it and gets annoyed and continues her attack, both face off with their martial arts styles, Viney using the different styles of Kung Fu, and Sharkface using Krav Maga]
[Both exchange blows one after the other. Viney spin kicks, Shark face counters with his own creating a shockwave]
[Both use push each other off, until Jerbo jumps in and taps Sharkface on the back]
Jerbo: HAH HAH! GOT 'EM!
Sharkface: And what was that supposed to do?!
Jerbo: THIS! EAT BUNGEE GEL!
[Jerbo closes his fist and swings his arms inward]
[Sharkface is confused until dozens of Rocks and logs smash into him, burying him in debris]
Jerbo: Alright Hyde you're up!
Hyde: FINALLY!
[Jerbo's Red eye begins to glow as Hyde begins to take over]
Hyde: Prepare to meet the true bad boy! MWAHAHAHA!
[Hyde tugs hard on the bungee gels and pulls Sharkface from the pile]
Hyde: MY TURN!
[Jerbo's aura begins to intensify as his muscles begin to bulge]
Sharkface: Huh?
[Hyde gives Sharkface a left hook and forces him to fly back, but then get pulled into Jerbo and Hyde to repeats the process multiple times, to the point where Sharkface becomes a paddle ball]
Jerbo: I think he's had enough!
[Jerbo releases Sharkface as he is flung further towards the distance]
Jerbo: But just this once!
[Jerbo does a pushing gesture and the debris Sharkface was buried in begins to follow him]
Sharkface: SCREW THIS!
[Sharkface begin to use his traps to send all the objects into his Abyss]
Sharkface: Let's see how you feel! When I trap you within my pet's playpen!
[Sharkface throws the trap at Jerbo, The trap continues to grow without leaving any room for Jerbo to dodge]
Jerbo: OH CRAP!
[Barcus jumps in front of him and releases a huge howl, creating sound waves that forces the Trap to dissolve]
Jerbo: Thanks Barcus!
[Barcus growls]
Jerbo: Now kick his ass!
[Barcus runs towards Sharkface, Sharkface notices and mimics his action]
Sharkface: A giant wolf?! This should be interesting!
[Sharkface and Barcus jump at each other striking with their own claws]
[Both gain slashes from each other, but are unaffected by the pain]
[Both then turn back and attack each other once more]
[Sharkface wildly attacks the wolf, but to Barcus he had the advantage, his eyes continue to glow meaning his Oracle Potion was helping him predict every move that Sharkface would throw at him, and possible futures for a counter.]
[With the next foresight being a backhand from Sharkface. With that in mind, the Foresight was about to begin, as Sharkface began to attack, Barcus went for his waist and sunk his teeth in his flesh and shook him around like a chew toy.]
Sharkface: GAGH!
[Barcus smashes him on the ground continuously, and tosses him to the side]
Sharkface: YOU BASTARD!
[Barcus's breaths in deep, and exhales a large Howl of Death!]
Barcus: *HOWL!*
[Sharkface covers his ears but the noise is so loud they begin to bleed]
Sharkface: GAGH!
[Viney and Jerbo make their move, Viney Shapeshifts into a Minotaur and rams herself into Sharkface, pushing him back]
[She changes back, Jerbo jumps behind him and both continuously attack their opponent]
Viney: Ruyi Jingu Bang!
[The sticks on Viney's gauntlets unite into one whole staff]
Viney: EXTEND!
[The staff extends and strikes the stomach, Viney swings him around and tosses him]
Jerbo: Bungee Gel!
[Jerbo sticks his Bungee gel onto Viney's staff and Sharkface]
Jerbo: Pull!
[Viney swings the staff back and pulls Sharkface into it]
[Viney pivots with it facing him]
Viney: Now EXPAND!
[The Staff becomes enlarged and pushes Sharkface once more, Sharkface attempts to escape but is stuck to it from Jerbo's weapon]
Sharkface: NO!
[The beast is then crushed between the large tip of the staff and the ground itself ending the battle]
Viney: Return!
[The weapon returns to its original form and latches onto Viney's gauntlets.]
Hyde: HAHAHA!
Jerbo: THIS GUY'S NOT SO TOUGH NOW IS HE!?
[Barcus howls to the moon]
[As the duo celebrates, Viney looks where Sharkface was killed]
[Emira cheers for them]
Emira: HELL YEAH! I KNEW THEY COULD DO IT! WHAT D'YA THINK A.X.E.L.!?
[Emira is then confused by the serious look on his face]
Emira: A.X.E.L.?
[Viney still senses Sharkface's presence]
Viney: Guys!
[she managed to gain their attention]
Viney: He's still alive!
Jerbo: Wait what?!
[A.X.E.L. notices the same thing]
A.X.E.L.: It's not over yet.
Emira: Hold on, he's still?
[A sudden explosion came onto the field, and crawling out of the crater, Sharkface comes out covered in bruises]
Emira: That should have killed him! How is he alive?!
A.X.E.L.: Taking him down is not as easy as you think, especially if he's not taking you seriously.
[Emira was shocked and realized!]
Emira: He was holding back?!
[The multitrack kids prepare themselves for round 2]
Sharkface: You insects! You've really ticked me off to the point where my blood boils! It makes me sick watching my prey being able to fight back! But the way you all fight makes my tongue and fangs feel ecstasy! The excitement only makes it better!
[Barcus growls, while Viney and Jerbo ready their weapons]
Sharkface: You three have entered the point of no return! The point where I'll have to go all out!
[Sharkface's eyes glow a bright red as he releases all his blood lust]
Sharkface: ETA SPIRIT! UNLOCK!
[The Aura begins to cover itself with red sparks! Sharkface begins to laugh maniacally once more, but this time he's even crazier than before]
Jerbo: Guys be careful, we don't know what's he do-
[Jerbo is then stabbed in the stomach by Sharkface's claws]
Jerbo: *gags*
[Viney yells out Jerbo's name as they see their friend get attacked]
[Sharkface then spins and throws Jerbo into Viney]
[Barcus uses his foresight but is too late to notice Sharkface flurry of Claw Strikes]
Sharkface: STAY DOWN DOG!
[Sharkface then drop kicks him into a rock wall, forming a crater]
Sharkface: NOW IT'S MY TURN!
[Viney tries to fight back, but is too slow to react to his fighting style, she manages to block 20% of the attacks but the other 80% either leave cuts on her body or punches and kicks to the gut, back and face.]
[Emira watches as Viney gets beaten to a pulp]
Emira: What's going on?! He's more crazy now!
A.X.E.L.: It's the power of the Eta fragment.
Emira: The what?!
A.X.E.L.: The Eta Fragment, which is the Alpha's Happiness. It grants the holder an ability called Crazy Excite, which forces you to be in an excited frenzy.
Emira: SO?
A.X.E.L.: It's like when a child eats a lot of sugar and becomes hyper, except for him, he won't even think while fighting and just rampages until there is nothing left!
Emira: I have to get in there!
A.X.E.L.: NO!
Emira: NO?! But A.X.E.L.?!
A.X.E.L.: I mean you can't, cause there is something I need you to do.
[Emira is once again confused]
[Sharkface's beat down on Viney only gets worse]
Sharkface: Do you really think you can beat me little girl?!
[Viney tackles him but is then thrown to the floor]
[Viney struggles to breathe]
Sharkface: You couldn't even beat me before! But then you think you can beat me now?! Did you honestly think I was that weak?!
[Sharkface kicks her in the stomach while she lays down]
Sharkface: You and your friends are just pathetic! You and every other Demon and Witch on this shit hole of a dimension all serve on purpose! With the purpose to surrender your magic to my master! And yet you all just fight back and never give in!
[Viney aims to escape but is grabbed by the neck and lifted face to face with Sharkface]
Sharkface: All you witches ever do is live under this madman of an emperor! Who wastes your magic potential to one Type only! And yet you never even think about rebelling and only live a lazy life! Then you fight back against those who are just like you?! Those you can also call freaks of nature! Troublemakers?! People that deserve to be in Detention! You could have been way more Viney! But now I see that you're nothing! You're nothing but a bore! A Witch who wastes her life following the rules of a Tyrant! And you know what I do to people like you?!
[Jerbo looks at Barcus and notices he's struggling to get up, he then turns his attention to Viney and tries to reach for her hand]
Jerbo: *struggling* Viney! NO!
[Sharkface Summons his Spirit Power]
Sharkface: Megalodon, lend me your power! NOW!
[The Megalodon opens his mouth revealing the same material that Sharkface's traps are made of]
Sharkface: I throw people like you into the Abyss, and make sure that no one will ever remember them! Oh and btw the way? I'll be sure Puddles and your family send their condolences!
[Sharkface harshly throws Viney into the Giant Shark's mouth]
Sharkface: Megalodon! Great Devourer!
[Viney is thrown into the black abyss within the Megalodon's mouth]
[She then floats around in what looks like a never ending limbo, unconscious, alone, with no one around, Viney only dreams of being with her friends doing their normal shenanigans, but is then shook by someone calling for her]
A.X.E.L.: Viney! Viney!
[Viney wakes up and sees A.X.E.L.]
Viney: A.X.E.L.? Where are we? What are you doing here?
A.X.E.L.: We're in the Megalodon's stomach! And right now You're the only one that can get us out of here!
Viney: I can't!
A.X.E.L.: What?
[Viney then raises her voice]
Viney: I SAID I CAN'T! OKAY, CAUSE EVEN IF WE ESCAPE! WE'RE ALL GOING TO GET OUR ASSES KICKED BY SHARKFACE! WE'LL GO THROUGH THIS NEVER ENDING CYCLE OF LOSING AND THEN WHAT'S NEXT?! IS HE GOING TO GO AFTER MY FRIENDS?! MY FAMILY?! WHAT IF THINGS GET WORSE?! WE THOUGHT WE COULD HANDLE THIS?! BUT I GOT TOSSED IN HERE AND YOU FOLLOWED ME! SO MAYBE IT'S BEST THAT I STAY HERE?!
[Viney curls up into a ball]
Viney: Sharkface was right. Troublemakers deserve to live in solitude anyway.
[A.X.E.L. sighs]
[A.X.E.L. floats towards her]
A.X.E.L.: Did I ever tell you that my name is actually an acronym?
[Viney ignores him]
A.X.E.L.: It means Animal's Xany Enhancement Luminary. In short I was a science experiment like Sharkface. All they ever told me was that I was never meant for greatness. They said I was too soft, too imaginative, I was a child which I was at the time. Our only purpose was to kill. Thought if I just followed the rules I could be safe and not embarrass anyone. But I didn't.
[Viney pretends to ignore him but decides to listen]
A.X.E.L.: Then I was founded by Roundtable, adopted by my Mom Bonnie, and forever had a home where I could be who I want to be. I still broke some rules and fell behind, but with the right people, I was able to make up for it.
[Viney responds]
Viney: But how did you do it? You were in Solitude for years with that monster?! Weren't you told that everyone was better than you or to get with the program?
[A.X.E.L. chuckles at that comment]
Viney: What?
A.X.E.L.: Of course I was, everyone who is different was. But you are doing dual tracks, you want to do the things you need to do to beat Sharkface. You never had to fall in line. I trained all my life, learned how to cook, and even had a wife and kids of my own and I never had to fall in line with the rest of them. I just did what I thought was the right thing to do. Sharkface is different because he let himself be weaponized. But you shouldn't.
[Viney turns to him]
A.X.E.L.: I came down here to save you because I saw myself. But seeing how you grew for the past few days you managed to fight and become better at magic on your own terms. And right now you need to use that to get us out of here! Can you do that?
[Viney wipes her tears]
Viney: I can try!
A.X.E.L.: Now focus on you and your Spirit! And do what needs to be done, Viney's way! And do it fast, because I don't think Jerbo can keep the Megalodon's mouth open for too long!
Viney: Got it!
[Viney closes her eyes and remembers everything she has done to get this far in life, to learn magic, to make the friends she has, to get into Hexside, to get into two tracks, all the training she was put through to make it to this point in the battle]
Viney: Sun Wukong? Mind lending me a hand?
Sun Wukong: I guess I could! Remember when using my Power! You will have strength more powerful than Gods, instincts that can match demons, the friends you have made, and light that will guide you on your journey, that is the power of Wukong!
[Viney bashes her fists together to form Yin and Yang]
Viney: Then let's get out of here!
[Viney forms a spell circle]
[From afar Puddles senses Viney's magic and knows that she needs help, she zooms across the sky as fast as she can and rockets into the Megalodon's mouth, Sharkface is distracted by Barcus fighting back]
Sharkface: WHAT?!
[Jerbo is also shocked]
Jerbo: Was that Puddles?
[Puddles arrives in front of the both of them]
Viney: You better hold on!
A.X.E.L.: Way ahead of you!
Viney: Sun Wukong! Lend me your power!
[Viney's glows as bright as the sun]
Viney: Nimbus Puddles! Wukong! SUN OVERDRIVE!
[the three begin to fly light speed towards the exit of the abyss]
[The light begins to get closer and Jerbo knows what to do]
Jerbo: Time to go!
[Jerbo leaps out of the way before the Shark closes its jaws]
[Before it could do just that, a flaming comet bursts out of the Mouth]
Sharkface: WHAT?! YOU BITCH!
[The glows begins to dim making Viney land hard across the gravel]
Jerbo: *relieved* VINEY!
[Jerbo and Barcus run to their friends side only to see that she was relinquished too much energy into that move]
Jerbo: Are you okay?
[Viney has a hard time breathing and barely speaks]
Viney: Never better.
[A.X.E.L. bends down to check on Viney]
A.X.E.L.: Viney, Jerbo, Barcus, you three have done well to hold your own. But for now, take this time to rest.
[Viney chuckles]
Viney: You got it!
[Barcus and Jerbo are confused]
Jerbo: But what are you going to do?
[A.X.E.L. stands on his feet]
A.X.E.L.: Give a demonstration of how far you'll all have to go. So leave everything to me from this point on.
[A.X.E.L. slowly walks toward his old acquaintance]
Sharkface: YOU! I would have guessed that you were the one to train them!
[A.X.E.L. continues to walk]
Sharkface: All this time, I was really hoping to drive you out! And here you are. Strong as ever! Just as those people expected from you.
[A.X.E.L. stops in his tracks]
A.X.E.L.: I still see that you love to run your mouth and kill people. Is that all One teaches you these days?
[Sharkface is angered]
