Hey guys, I apologize for taking much longer than it should've, so what happened was I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with this chapter, I read the original one before making this one and the other was extremely short, so I wanted to change things up with this one and it took nearly 2 weeks for me to finish it, even now this feels half bummed
Well I hope this won't hinder your experience.
Everything was pitched black, until the sounds of voices broke the silence, someone's eyes were opening slowly with his or her vision blurry, the person made a groaning noise with the person sounding like a male kid.
"Sir, I think you should come see this" said a female voice
This person wakes up finding himself inside a tank that is surrounded by unknown liquids, his reflection was showing on the glass tank, as it turns out it was Isaiah with a breathing mask on him as he was breathing steadily. He appeared to be confused as he was looking at a female scientist in front of him.
"What is this place? Who are you?!" Isaiah asks with his voice projecting through the mask
The female scientist replies, "it's okay now, your safe, we're not gonna hurt you"
Behind her was a man standing near a desk, he was wearing a business coat, slacks, and shoes on him, he then turns around and began walking towards the tank, he appeared to in his early 40s, he has shortly trimmed brown hair, his skin was wrinkly and his eyes were light brown, he appeared happy to see Isaiah.
The business man says, "Good morning kid, glad to see that you're finally awake, you may not know me but I'm-"
"Norman, Norman Osborn, How can I forget" Isaiah interrupts with a slight hint of anger in his tone
The man known as Norman Osborn was really surprised by what Isaiah just said.
"Interesting, despite being in contact with a substance that erases memories, you seem to be intact with all of yours, quite fascinating really" said Norman Osborn
Isaiah seemed to get irritated from what the reflection was showing.
"What's that supposed to mean?! Is this what that old metahuman meant by experiment?" Isaiah asks with some hostility in his voice
Both Norman Osborn and the female scientist seemed to be confused as to what Isaiah was saying.
"Kid, I haven't gotten the slightest clue as to what your referring to" said Norman Osborn
Isaiah says, "don't play dumb with me! You sent that metahuman after me and my friends! The one who can manipulate glass!"
The female scientist turns towards her boss
"perhaps he doesn't remember quite as well as we hoped" said the female scientist
Norman Osborn says, "or it could be that he just has an overactive imagination, he is still a kid after all"
Isaiah was getting angry to the point where he slams his hand against the tank.
"Don't toy with me!..." Isaiah shouts
The female scientist was a bit worried while Norman Osborn kept his cool, Isaiah then stops himself, he closes his eyes and took a deep breath while letting out a big sigh.
"...just tell me where my friends are okay? I can be your test subject all you like, just please let them go"
Norman Osborn replies, "Are you referring to your friend Ethan right? He's in another room safe and sound, but we don't know about your other friends"
Isaiah asks, "What?"
"You may not remember this, but you and him were the only ones we could find within the endless sea of dark matter, I'm sorry"
Isaiah looked with much confusion and shock to this news, suddenly the building began shaking and rumbling, Norman Osborn and the female scientist looked frightened by this.
"Containment breach! Containment breach! Evacuate the building! This is not a drill!" said the PA
The female scientist says, "we better get going, those things are gonna destroy this building any minute"
Norman Osborn says, "deploy the security, let them deal with it"
"But sir-"
"JUST DO IT!" Norman Osborn shouts
The Female scientist looked at him like he was insane, but she feared for her life as to what was about to happen if she didn't get out of there.
"Yes sir, I'll get on it sir" said the female scientist
The female scientist then flees from the lab that she was in, Norman Osborn pulls out a syringe as he knows gives off a more apathetic look on his face.
"Well kid, I guess I'll be going now, but before I do, I'm gonna need some of your blood for research purposes, we won't be needing you anymore, it's nothing personal but I'm afraid there won't be enough room for you and your friend to where we're going" said Norman Osborn
Isaiah says, "So you're finally showing your true colors, well then…"
Lightning began emitting out of Isaiah's body, his eyes began to glow blue with Norman Osborn looking surprised.
"...allow me to show you mine!"
The Lightning began to project more violently inside the tank, Norman Osborn dropped the syringe as he was about to make a run for it towards the door, until the tank itself erupted with multiple glass shards flying everywhere and the fluid getting all over the lab, the shockwave from the blast knocks Norman Osborn back as he hits the wall, knocking him out cold, Isaiah walks out carefully of from the tank as he was barefooted, he was wearing a suit around him that would produce oxygen into the mask, he then takes off the mask and throws back on the ground, he then kneels down towards the unconscious Norman Osborn with his eyes still glowing.
"Sorry , but you really can't use my blood to cure your sickness, trust me it'll make you a very angry monster, not that your already one to begin with" said Isaiah
As Isaiah was about to leave, he noticed that the phone vibrated for a moment. In a sense of curiosity, he picks up the phone to see what it was about, turns out it was a text message from Harry Osborn saying "Dad, Where are you?!".
"Harry Osborn? Why is his son texting him? Wasn't he mad at him for doing human experiments behind his back?" Isaiah thought
But when Isaiah looked up at the date.
June 15th 2016, 10:00PM
Isaiah looked so bewildered by the time on the phone.
"Wait a minute, this exact date, it can't be-"
Suddenly there was even more rumbling outside, Isaiah watches to where he was stepping as more as there was glass everywhere, he approaches the door and the door opens with it showing absolute chaos with people running around in panic, outside the building was a giant human like monster that was made out of an energy that was dark purple and it was walking towards the building, Isaiah couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Impossible" said Isaiah to himself
Chapter 5: Distant Memory ( part 1 )
In that moment of chaos, Isaiah stood there, baffled beyond belief to what seemed like a familiar setting was taking place.
"What the heck is going on here?! Why are the Rippers attacking New York City? Why are the Rippers back?! Wait, why am I in New York?! Why am I back to this exact date?! What is even going on anymore?! Does anything make sense anymore?!" Isaiah thought of these overwhelming questions
Isaiah kept overthinking things, to where the point he started having flashbacks of the very same monsters that were before him, thinking on how they infected nearly everyone within the city, how they ripped innocent people from the inside out, their screams and cries kept repeating in his head, he felt overwhelmed by them, he couldn't find the strength to move from where he was standing, everything was slowing down, it felt like all of time had suddenly stopped and it was just him and him alone.
"Isaiah"
Isaiah gasps a bit as the voice scared him a bit, he looked around the area but wasn't able to see anyone around him.
"Be at peace Isaiah, there is nothing to fear"
Isaiah was still feeling shaky from all that was around him, but was even more terrified from the mysterious voice calling out his name.
"W-who are you? Where are you?" Isaiah asks
"I am that I am, you may not see me but I am here with you"
Although Isaiah was puzzled by this mysterious voice he never heard off, but something about this voice was soothing, he started to feel a lot calmer now.
"Okay, so why is it that you're here with me? What is it that you want from me?" Isaiah asks
"What I want is to set you free from the prison that which you are in"
At first Isaiah didn't know what the voice meant, but then he thought of something that might mean something.
"So this place, is it some sort of prison?" Isaiah asks in a curious tone
"What you are seeing now is an illusion, a projection created by your memories, I will help you escape from it"
Isaiah asks, "but how? How can I escape from my own memories"
"Look behind you, what do you see?"
Isaiah turns around to see Norman Osborn lying on the ground unconscious.
"Norman Osborn, he's the father of Harry Osborn and Owner of Oscorp, he's also a super villain known as the Green Goblin" said Isaiah
"What do you remember about this event taking place?"
Isaiah began remembering, when Norman Osborn was out cold, fearing that he would wake up and attack him, he ran out of the lab as quickly as possible.
"I want you to heal his injuries, although he is nothing more than a projection, this will help you break free, but by doing this will alter your memories and you will feel extreme amounts of pain, so be prepared for when it comes"
Isaiah was feeling a bit reluctant to do that, but he knew that he wouldn't be getting anywhere unless he did it, so he walked towards Norman Osborn and placed his hand on him.
"Well no guts no glory, here goes nothing" said Isaiah in a less confident tone
Isaiah's eyes began to glow blue, the lightning coming from his hand began fill Norman's body and repair his broken bones, this worked out smoothly so far, suddenly Isaiah felt his head was splitting, he screams in agony from the top of his lungs, he began to roll around on the floor, his memories started to change, soon after the pain slowly faded away, suddenly felt a hand on his right shoulder.
"Once you leave this place, your original memories will return to you, go and search for your brother Ethan, he will need your help"
Suddenly time returns back to normal, Norman Osborn immediately wakes up from the unconscious state that he was in, he turns towards Isaiah who was on the floor as well, but Isaiah didn't have time to waste with Norman Osborn, who got up from the floor and began running out in the hallway were dozens of people were also running for their lives.
"Okay, so none of this is real, all I have to do is find Ethan and break free from this place, sounds simple enough" said Isaiah
Suddenly he began to remember something, he remembers how a giant Ripper came at the building with it swinging it's arm and smashing everyone within the area, the memory ends.
"INCOMING!" one of the scientists shouts
The Ripper swung it's arm into the building trying to take out of the people inside just like what happened in the memory, but thanks to Isaiah fast reaction, he manages to create a protective electro field from the palm of his hands, the lightning scorches the Ripper's hand off before it can get in contact with the people inside, the giant monster screeches, as soon as Isaiah stops creating the field, everyone began to run in panic and he goes through another memory alteration, though not as painful as before but it was still extremely painful, even so he grit his teeth and kept on running.
"Dang it! I freaking hate this!" Isaiah shouts in frustration
The pain soon subsided, the Ripper still in pain began to regenerate its arm, Isaiah looked at it with an annoyed expression.
"As problematic as the Ripper is, I can't spend all my energy fighting that thing or I won't survive the other horrors that are up ahead, besides none of this is real, so I really don't have to worry about the people getting hurt here" Isaiah thought
The Ripper screeches once more, wanting to kill Isaiah more than ever, it then strikes the building once more with it's left hand but this time vertically, the hand was about to come down on Isaiah, but then his body felt a surge rushing through him, being able to sense the danger above him, he then takes a big leap back to dodge the giant hand coming down on the building, he fell on his back due to the weight of the suit, Isaiah seemed ticked off by the Ripper coming at him.
"No! stop it! Bad Ripper!" Isaiah shouts
As he blasts Lightning at the Ripper, scorching half of its face off the Ripper screeches in pain once more, Isaiah is struggling to get up.
"Gonna have to ditch the suit" said Isaiah
While feeling the surge going throughout the body, he focuses the electricity through his fingertips from his right hand, he uses it to cut through the hard material of the suit, he soon was free which fortunately he was wearing a gray suit that was a lot more lighter than the other one, now more free, he then runs towards the big gap while running near the wall, he then jumps near the left side wall and began wall running across the big gap, he then leaps off the wall and somersaults onto the other side and keeps on running.
"I gotta find Ethan, maybe the memories can help me find out where he is" Isaiah thought
Suddenly he spots Ethan up ahead, but he was unconscious, Isaiah's expression was without a doubt in shock.
"Ethan!" Isaiah shouts
Isaiah runs towards him as fast as he can, But then he began to sense hostility from down below, he then stops for the moment and leaps back once more, this time it was a metallic tentacle that breaks through the floor beneath him, 3 more tentacles came out from underneath, these tentacles were attached to what seemed a middle aged man in a lab coat as the tentacles help rise him up to the current floor, this man was wearing a lab coat with long rubber black gloves, a green suit underneath it and black rubber boats underneath, this man had a bowl cut with him looking chubby but with half of his face and body being infected with dark matter, this scientist gives out an unsettling screech while Isaiah stands his ground.
"Doc Ock? I get it this building is where all the spidey villains hang out, but gimme a break!" Isaiah asks
Isaiah tries to summon his sword, but for some reason he wasn't able to, he kept trying but it didn't work.
"Seriously?!" said Isaiah in frustration
( Doctor Octopus extends his first tentacle at him, he dodges the attack at lightning speed, Doctor Octopus then swings the same tentacle at him, but he jumps over it, Doctor Octopus extends his 2nd tentacle at him and pins him down, Isaiah felt his back hurting as he struggles to break free from the tentacle, Doctor Octopus gets closer to him while screeching, Isaiah continues to struggle, but then his eyes glow blue once more as he puts his hands on the tentacle, sending an electric current to Doctor Octopus and electrocuting him, Doctor Octopus screams in agony as the dark matter scorches off his body, Doctor Octopus loosens his grip on Isaiah and he was able to break free, Doctor Octopus was stunned in mid air with the tentacles supporting him, Isaiah began to focus his lightning 50% into both of his legs, he then lunges at Doctor Octopus and gives him a right hook across his face, Doctor octopus falls unconscious but with his tentacles still supporting him, Isaiah then lands on the ground, but he starts to feel his legs stiffen up, but even so he limps over to Ethan )
"Ethan? Are you okay? ETHAN!" Isaiah shouts
( But without even a moment of hesitation, Ethan gets up from the ground facing the other way, Isaiah looked so happy and relieved to see his best friend alive and well, but then Ethan grabs him by the throat and slams him against the wall and begins choking him, Isaiah shocked at the moment wasn't able to breathe or think properly )
"Ethan...What are you-" Said Isaiah in a strained voice
( Ethan turns around to see half of his face being infected by the dark matter, Isaiah's eyes had widen in disbelief, Ethan then winds back his fist with wind enveloping around it, suddenly spider webs began to entrap his fist, behind him it was Spider man who did it )
"Heyo! Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman is here to save the day!" said Spiderman in a heroic voice
( Ethan got enraged by his sight as he creates a power gust of wind and blows Spider Man away from the building, Ethan let's go of Isaiah was he was grasping for air )
"Ethan...stop" said Isaiah with his throat being coarse
( Ethan turns towards him and side kicks him in the stomach and sends him flying back towards the wall, Isaiah then collides with the wall and it shatters into several glass shards, the environment around them breaks up into multiple glass shards and began to transform into a different area, this one was at the center of Oscorp with the power generator at the center being unstable, Isaiah stumbles down on the ground and kept rolling, he groans in pain as Ethan walks towards him in a menacing manner, Isaiah gets up from the floor being badly hurt, he couldn't believe what he was seeing )
"Now this is a first…" said an older voice
( Isaiah looks in shock, he recognizes that voice, it was the same voice as the old man that attacked him and his friends )
"...In all of my years of having this power, there has never been a single person who is able to breakaway from 'Memory Lane', how very intriguing"
Isaiah shouts, "Where are you?! What have you done to Ethan?!"
The old man replies, "ease your anger, I merely altered the memories of the state of his body, he's not actually infected but rather he remembers being infected and attacking you"
Isaiah shouts, "But that's impossible, nobody remembers being a Ripper, and even if that were the case his powers should keep him from turning into one! And he wasn't even infected during this time!"
"As I mentioned before I altered his memories, which lead to the current state he is now, I don't want to do this, but I can't let you go, not until I fully searched through your memories"
( Isaiah gets aggravated by this )
"Hey! Get out of my head! My memories won't be part of your lab experiment!" said Isaiah
( but he wasn't responding, Isaiah looked very confused by this )
"Uhh...hello?" Isaiah asks
( suddenly Ethan comes forward and punches him across the face, making him step back with his nose bleeding, Isaiah then wipes the blood off his face and looks directly at Ethan with a fierce look in his eyes )
"Sorry Ethan, but I'm gonna have to give you a few bruises, I'll heal you later on" said Isaiah
( electricity flows through Isaiah's nose and heals the minor injury which stops the blood from coming out, these two combatants stare at each other in the eye, they began walking towards each other with Isaiah struggling to walk, but since Isaiah was filled with adrenaline in that moment the pain he felt was numbed )
"Although I faced Ethan many times before in training, this time it'll be different, when it comes down to unarmed combat he has the upper hand, but still, despite my lack in physical strength..." Isaiah thought to himself
( the two cross paths towards each other, Ethan was the first to throw his left fist, but he was able to dodge it )
"...I am still faster than him, get ready Ethan, you're in for a world of hurt!"
( Isaiah throws out his left hook at lightning speed, but before he could even make contact with his face, suddenly...)
Flashback
Isaiah and Ethan were walking out in the school hallway getting ready to go home, as they were talking and were about to head down the stairs, suddenly a kid pushes Ethan down, this filled Isaiah with a lot of anger as he faces the kid who pushed, he felt the urge to hit him really hard, only to slightly hit him with his binder, the kid and the others were surprised by this.
"That was a warning! The next time you do that I will hit you!" said Isaiah
The kid then backs off and runs away, soon after Isaiah turns towards his best friend and helps him up
Flashback ended
( ...Isaiah looked extremely confused as to why he was remembering that, before he could process it he received a hard punch to the gut, Isaiah exhales so hard with saliva coming out as he felt a burning sensation in his breathing )
"What...the heck?" Isaiah thought to himself
( Isaiah backs off from him at the moment, but then Ethan delivers another right hook, Isaiah manages to block the attack )
"Did I just space out in a time like this? Come on focus! I need to do this!" Isaiah thought to himself
( Isaiah manages to push away his arm and throws another lightning fast punch with his right fist, but then…)
Flashback
Isaiah, Ethan, and Mia were in a small garden with bibles right beside them with clipboards, papers, and pencils beside them.
"Well boys, out of all these people in this big book, which do you think we should do an essay on?" Mia asks in a curious manner
Ethan replies, "well maybe we could do something simple, like Adam or Eve"
Isaiah says, "well I was thinking of King David, or maybe Samson"
Ethan looked a bit irritated.
"Isaiah, you do know that those guys are gonna be hard to find in this thing" said Ethan
Isaiah says, "but Adam and Eve are way too obvious, I bet the others already claimed Adam and Eve"
Mia asks, "then why don't we do the Book of Job? It's not as obvious and I know a lot about him"
The two boys seemed interested in what Mia suggested, both of them nodding their heads in agreement.
"You know that's not a bad idea, I'm down" said Ethan
Isaiah says, "Heck yeah! Let's do this thing!"
Isaiah puts his fist near them as he gives an innocent smile and laughs, Ethan then smiles back at him and gives him a fist bump.
Flashback ended
( Isaiah was yet again caught off guard by this, Ethan then grabs his head and then knees him in the face which reopens his wound, Isaiah falls to the ground dazed, Ethan just stands there over him while not moving )
"I get it now, you're creating these vivid images in my mind to throw me off, trying to make me feel guilty about fighting my best friend, well guess what, I won't let it hold me back!..." said Isaiah
( Isaiah scratches the ground with his nails )
"...Because if I can't do this! Then we'll never be able to escape this place!" Isaiah
( Isaiah gets up from the floor screaming and then proceeds to punch Ethan in the face while receiving a flashback, after the flashback ended Ethan throws another punch as to which Isaiah being focus dodged it and then counter punches him in the face while receiving another flashback, and so the two kept going at it, exchanging blows back and forth while continuing seeing the images that won't stop, they kept on beating each other to no end until they start wearing themselves out both physically and emotionally... )
Flashback
During the Summertime in the year 2013, Isaiah and Ethan who were still 12 and 11 at the time were playing in Ethan's backyard, they were playing with color noodles that they pretended to be lightsabers, they were making lightsaber wooshes.
"You cannot defeat me, young Skywalker!" said Ethan
Isaiah says, "You'll find soon enough that I'm full of surprises"
They continue on playfully fighting, after a while though they rest on the porch.
"Man, that was fun! But next time we should get more of the actual lightsabers? Maybe you can bring your blue lightsaber over here sometime" said Ethan
But Isaiah wasn't paying attention, he appeared to be day dreaming, Ethan tries to get his attention by tapping him which he succeeds.
"Hey man, what are you doing?" Ethan asks
Isaiah replies, "oh sorry, I was just wondering about something"
"Oh, what is it?"
"So you know how adults say that we should be thankful for what we have, and that there are many unfortunate people out there that don't have what we have?"
Ethan seemed a bit confused by Isaiah's thought process.
"Yeah, what about it?" Ethan asks
Isaiah replies, "well, I was just wondering what it's like out there, I'm mean what it would be like if didn't have what we have now"
Ethan was now curious to Isaiah's statement, as he too began to ponder on this.
"Well one thing is obviously certain...things would be unpleasant" said Ethan
Flashback ended
Isaiah was sitting on Ethan with his hands all bruised and bloodied with his body twitching as electricity circuits, he was bleeding from his nose and mouth and had multiple bruises on his face as tears were coming down from his face, Ethan was laying down unconscious with his body beaten badly but with the dark matter gone.
"...more...than you can...imagine" said Isaiah
Without even moving Isaiah falls to the ground and passes out, the two of them laying beside each other as everything around them turns to glass, suddenly two gloved hands hover over their faces.
"Stay strong dear children...stay strong"
Well I hope this was a nice change of pace, I would say something fun but it's 2:40am where I'm at, so at this point I kinda want this to be over.
