Chapter 14: Miz vs Mercer III

Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 - Survivor Series: 26 Days Away - Green Bay, Wisconsin

The Intercontinental Champion had walked into Resch Center with a huge smile on his face. It seemed to be a smile that he couldn't lose. And it was all because of the fact that tonight would be a monumental title defense and possibly would catapult his title reign into a top reign and possibly catapult his career to the next level. He walked in dressed in his black skinny jeans with black suede boots with a black dress shirt with a red velvet suit jacket. He also had a silver bracelet on his right wrist with a watch on the same wrist. He had the title on his shoulder and sunglasses on his face in case the WWE decided to pull one of their infamous spur of the moment interviews like they always do. And speak of the devil here they go.

They had the camera man standing in front of James with Dasha Fuentes walking towards him with the mic in her hand getting ready to speak with him. The camera man started to count down from 3 to 1.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am standing here with the WWE Intercontinental Champion who will be defending his Championship later on tonight against The Miz inside the confines of a steel cage. And Zack, I have to say. Tonight is your first ever match inside a Steel Cage and is that getting inside of your head at all tonight?" Dasha asked as she then put the mic up to the mouth of Zack Mercer.

"Tonight, I have to defend my Intercontinental Championship against The Miz. Now I asked specifically for this match and I wouldn't ask for it, if I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Now is it smart knowing that in 26 days, I will defend this title at Survivor Series. Probably not but I'm a man of the people and the people have told me that they want this match. And Miz, as much as I am a man of the people, the ass kicking that I give you will not be for the people it's gonna be for "The Ace of Spades" Zack Mercer. By the way, tell Maryse, I had a fun-time last Friday." Zack said with a wink as he then continued to walk on to the locker room.

Hours Later - Smackdown Live

"Bully" Hits

Zack Mercer walked out onto the stage with a smile on his face as the titantron was the only thing showing while the lights were going back and forth with flashing lights. He looked at the cage that was set up from the ceiling and looked down at the Championship that was around his waist.

"Green Bay, How ya doin?" Zack said as he stood on the right side of the stage and pointed into the crowd as the fans cheered louder. He then walked over to the left side of the stage and pointed into the crowd then before walking back to the center of the stage. He raised his index and middle fingers up in the air as the graphics started to turn back on.

"The Following contest is a Steel Cage match and it is for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. From Las Vegas, Nevada. Weighing in at 225 Pounds. "He is the Intercontinental Champion" Zack Mercer!"

"Let's go it's Mercer Time baby!" Zack Mercer yelled as he walked down the ramp slapping the hands of the fans in the front row. Zack Mercer saw a woman standing in the front row with a Mercermania crop-top making him smile. He took a selfie with the girl then allowed her to give him a kiss on the cheek before he continued to walk on. Once he reached the ringside area he looked around at the crowd once more with a smile. He walked around the ringside area to the ring and got up onto the ring apron similar to the Miz's style. He held onto the middle rope while he raised up his index finger and middle finger with his other hand. He got up to his feet and entered the ring before went over to the turnbuckle and did his pose over again while the fans cheered loudly.

"Bully" Stops

He then jumped down from the turnbuckle and took off his shirt. He then walked over to the ropes and held his hand out for a sharpie and signed his number into the t-shirt with a smile before he threw it to the girl in the front row with the Mercermania crop top. She caught and then looked at the shirt closely before jumping up and down with excitement while Zack sent her a wink as he then turned his attention back to the stage.

"I Came To Play" Hits

The Miz came out onto the stage with an arrogant smirk on his face while he wore his ring gear with his robe over it. He stood on the stage and pointed into the crowd before he spun around and pointed to the crowd while they booed him. Zack stood in the center of the ring chewing his gum and looking on at Miz with a look of disdain. As the Miz started to walk down the ramp, he looked at the fans with a smirk that is until Zack Mercer came from out of nowhere jumping over the top rope to collide with The Miz.

"I Came To Play" Stops

Zack Mercer then jumped onto Miz and started to hit him with shots to the head until he got tired and quickly got up to his feet. Mercer looked at the crowd while they cheered before he turned back around to a Miz who was just starting to get up to his feet. He ran towards him and hit him with a boot to the face making him drop back down to the ground. Zack grabbed The Miz by the head and neck and drove him face-first into the barricade on the outside causing The Miz to drop down to a knee. Mercer looked around at the screaming fans. He then walked towards Miz and grabbed him by the head and neck and this time threw him into the steel steps. He walked towards Miz and started to stomp him out. He walked towards the barricade and looked at Miz with a smile as he then ran towards him looking to hit him with a knee to the face but The Miz used his opportunity and moved out of the way allowing Zack's knee to collide with the steel steps.

The fans booed at The Miz while he leaned up against the barricade looking on at Zack. He walked towards Zack and started to stomp him down as he leaned up against the steel steps. The Miz then grabbed Zack's leg and pulled him away from the steps and dropped an elbow on the knee that collided with the steel steps. He got back up and continued the same offense on the knee of the Champion. The fans booed as The Miz then started to gloat before he grabbed Mercer and threw him into the ring and slid under the bottom rope himself. The cage then started to come down from the ceiling while the fans cheered. Miz stared up at the cage as it finally locked down onto the ring.

Ding...Ding...Ding…

The Miz then ran to the cage and started to climb quickly looking to end the match before it even started. The Intercontinental Champion had got up to his feet groaning in agony because of his knee. As The Miz started to climb up the side of the cage, Mercer ran towards the challenger. He grabbed his leg and pulled him down from the cage side. Zack with a series of forearms to the challenger backing him up into the ropes. Zack then tried to whip the Miz into the cage but the Miz had countered it. Zack jumped up onto the ropes and jumped off flipping with a Springboard Moonsault Press putting Miz flat on his got up to his feet and started to slap his knee trying to get a little bit of feeling back into that hurt knee. The Miz had rolled onto the ring apron sitting between the apron and cage. Miz had used the ropes to get up to his feet while Mercer walked towards The Miz and hit him with a forearm. He then grabbed The Miz's head and threw him back into the cage wall making him hit the ground after the collision. Zack started to stomp down on The Miz's ribs as he laid on the ring apron. Zack then grabbed him by his legs and pulled him out from the ring apron but kept his head under the ropes, so he could do a fall-back and allow Miz's throat to collide with the ropes. Zack pulled him out from the apron to cover him.

2, Kick out at 2 by The Miz. Zack sighed as he then got up to his feet and grabbed Miz by his head and tried to make his head collide with the turnbuckle but The Miz had caught himself and elbowed Zack in the gut before he instead smashed his face into the turnbuckle pad. Zack backed up, stumbling as The Miz took his chance and hit him with a chop to the chest that sent him backing up into the ropes. The Miz with a few forearm shots to the face before he whipped Zack across the ring into the ropes. Miz went for a clothesline but Zack ducked it and waited for The Miz to spin around before he jumped up and hit him with a Pele Kick to the top of the head. Zack got up to his feet and looked back and forth between the cage and The Miz. Zack walked towards the Cage and started to climb. Just as he started to climb, The Miz got his consciousness back and got up to his feet and ran towards the cage and started to climb till he was next to the Intercontinental Champion. The Miz grabbed onto Zack and tried to hit him a few shots to the head but all it was to loosen his grip on the cage as The Miz grabbed Zack and Back Suplexed him onto the ring mat. The fans booed as Zack had collided back-first with the mat.

The Miz crawled over to Zack and covered him.

2, Kick out 2 by Zack Mercer. Miz had silently cursed himself as he looked at Mercer who's resilience was getting on his nerves. The Miz had gotten onto Zack and started to pile on shots to the forehead of the Champion until he got up off of Zack. He backed up into ropes before he came back and dropped a fist onto the head of Zack Mercer. Mercer got up to his feet as Miz had followed him up to his feet. The Miz tried to get Mercer up into a Full Nelson Hold looking for the Skull Crushing Finale but Mercer had somehow broken the hold and elbowed The Miz in the face. The Miz had stumbled away fro a minute before he ran towards Zack looking for some offense but Zack caught him and hit him with a Side Effect, made popular by Matt Hardy. Zack had kipped up to his feet and looked around in the crowd at the cheering fans. He backed up in the corner and started to stomp on the mat getting the fans tuned into the match.

"Mercer Time!" Zack yelled at the top of his lungs as The Miz had gotten up to his feet. Zack walked towards him looking to hit him with The Ace of Spades but The Miz had ducked it and got behind Zack and dropped him the Skull Crushing Finale. The Miz with the cover on Zack Mercer looking to take back his Intercontinental Championship.

2….

Thr-No, Zack Mercer kicked out right before the 3. The Miz looked around in shock and disbelief and got up to his feet. He walked towards the referee talking trash to his face talking about his skills as a referee. The referee had gotten tired of The Miz's trash talk as Zack had groggily gotten up to his feet, flipping his hair back. The referee pushed The Miz, making him stumble as he started to talk to the referee again before he spun around and was dropped with The Ace of Spades.

Mercer dropped into the cover and hooked the leg. The referee dropped down and covered him with a quick count.

"Bully" Plays

"Here is your winner and still the WWE Intercontinental Champion: Zack Mercer!" Greg Hamilton announced as Zack rolled off of the Miz and landed on his back. Zack looked up at the ceiling with a smile as he then got up to his feet and walked to the cage doors and exited the ring panting for his breath as the referee came around and gave Zack his title. Zack raised the title up in the air getting cheers from the fans.

Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 - Survivor Series: 19 Days Away - Newark, New Jersey

"Bully" Hits

The fans in Prudential Center cheered as they heard the music of none-other-than Mercermania, the 2-time Intercontinental Champion, Zack Mercer. Zack Mercer walked out onto the stage with a smile on his face as the titantron was the only thing showing while the lights were going back and forth with flashing lights. He patted the Championship title around his waist.

"We live baby!" Zack said as he stood on the right side of the stage and pointed into the crowd as the fans cheered louder. He then walked over to the left side of the stage and pointed into the crowd then before walking back to the center of the stage. He raised his index and middle fingers up in the air as the graphics started to turn back on.

"Please welcome your WWE Intercontinental Champion Zack Mercer!"

"Let's go, it's Mercer Time baby!" Zack Mercer yelled as he walked down the ramp slapping the hands of the fans in the front row. Once he reached the ringside area he looked around at the crowd once more with a smile. He walked around the ringside area to the ring and got up onto the ring apron similar to the Miz's style. He then jumped down from the turnbuckle and walked over to the ropes taking a mic from the ring crew. Zack looked around at the WWE Universe smiling as he saw several fans sporting his gear with signs in their hands supporting him.

"Newark, you know I gotta ask. Newark, How you doin?" Zack said as the fans cheered louder hearing him use his signature line.

"We are just 19 Days Away from Survivor Series where I will challenge Sami Zayn for the first time ever in a WWE ring with the title on the line." He stated as he unhooked the championship from around his waist and raised the title.

"Sami, I know you're watching this and I want you to know that at Survivor Series this ain't gonna be a storybook ending for you. This title has become my life. Because of this title, my little Mercermaniacs around the world look at me as a hero. Sami, me and you are a lot alike. We're both indy guys that made it to the big leagues. We're underdogs. We weren't supposed to be here. We traveled up and down the road together. We faced each other in other companies. You won some, I won some. But this time it's different. My title is on the line. My life is on the line."

"Sami, you know what I'm capable of, we've faced each other several times in our careers. But you don't know what I'm capable of when my life is on the line. At Survivor Series, you will find-" Zack was cut off by a certain music that had annoyed him since the beginning of his career in the WWE.

"More Than One Man" Hits

Heath Slater, one half of the Inaugural Smackdown Tag Team Champions walked down the ramp testing his luck as he interrupted the WWE Intercontinental Champion. Slater was given a mic as he walked up into the steel steps and entered the ring.

"More Than One Man" Stops

Heath put the mic up to his mouth and before he could even answer Mercer dropped him with the Ace of Spades putting him flat on his back. The WWE Universe cheered on their feets as Zack looked down at Heath and looked on as the Tag Team Champion starred up and fazed out.

"Sami, consider this a declaration of war from yours truly. And just how he got knocked out for interrupting me, you will do the same at Survivor Series." Zack said as he then dropped the mic and raised the title up in the air.

A/N: Alright so I hoped you guys enjoyed this one. Not the best but hopefully the next one will make up for it.
