Commissioner Gordon growled in frustration as she was in her police cruiser with another officer, as they were in a high-speed chase with a van. The Dogs of War were currently driving that van and they just robbed a bank and made out of thousands of dollars in cash cards.

"This is Commissioner Gordon requesting immediate backup!" Gordon called out on her police radio. "Suspects are the Dogs of War gang, and are armed and dangerous!"

There was a total of four Dogs of War members in the van, two up front and two in the back. The ones in the back of the van were counting all of the cash cards they took in celebration. This was by far the easiest job they accomplished and there was no doubt the boss would be thrilled.

"So, what are you going to do with your cut of the loot?" One of the gang members asked his fellow gang member.

"Maybe help myself to nice lobster dinner." The guy answered.

"I'm thinking maybe I'll buy a nice gift for my girl."

"Didn't she break up with you."

"Why do you think I'm being her a nice gift."

The driver of the van pulled back the viewing window behind him to address his fellow gang members. "Would you clowns shut up and focus! We've got cops on our tails!"

The two gang members nodded and opened up the back while the van was still going. They hanged onto the side as to not fall put and pulled put there guns. They then began to start shooting at the cops.

"Shots fired! Shots fired! We need that backup now!" Gordon called out.

The cop sitting next to her all of a sudden looked up and his eyes widened. "I think backup just arrived."

Barbara looked at him funny, before following his line of sight and saw what he meant.

The robbers continued firing at the cops, thinking that they were going to get away, but their hopes were dashed when Spider-Man came swinging down and kicked them back inside the van with him following.

Spider-Man gave a brief glance at the gang members, before speaking. "Man, you Dogs of War just don't know when to quit, do you? This is like the third time this month I've had to deal with you."

The two gang members got up and raised their fists up for a fight. One tried to throw a punch, but the hero simply caught it and tossed him to the side of the van. The other one came in swinging, but Spider-Man side stepped out of the way and did a flip kick, knocking him down.

The gang member tried getting back up, but Spider-Man shot out a glob of web at him and his partner and pinned them both down. "Why don't you just sit back and relax while I talk to the driver." Spider-Man said before jumping out of the back and continued swinging.

He landed on top of the van and crawled his way to the front. He leapt forward and soon stuck to the front windshield, surprising the two gang members up front.

"Hey, would you mind pulling over, your break lights are out." Spider-Man joked before looking at the driver. "Hey...don't I know you?"

The driver growled in anger before swerving from left to right to try and get the wall-crawler off the van. Spider-Man jumped off and fired several strands of webs in front of the van to create a makeshift web net and ensnared the van. The driver tried to drive forward, but the web was too strong.

"Forget the job! I'm getting out of here!" The gang member in the shotgun seat said fearfully as he exited the van.

The moment he stepped out, a web line attached to his back and he was yanked up in the air. He was then yanked down by Spider-Man, who was now standing on top of the van, and had him crash right on top of the van, then pinned him down with some web.

The driver got out of the drivers seat and pulled out a pair of brass knuckles and put them on. Spider-Man jumped in front of him and still looked at him inquisitively.

"I swear I have seen you before." Spider-Man thought out loud. "No, don't tell me. Henchmen's Weekly, I mostly buy the issues just for the crosswords."

"You seriously don't recognize me? I was there during the operations of buying weapons from the Jokerz." The man said angrily.

Spider-Man looked at him for a few more seconds before spreading his arms joyfully. "The guy with the sledgehammer! Wow, look at you, it's been so long!"

"It was hardly a few weeks ago!" The man growled in anger.

"Has it really been that long? Man, time sure flies when you're kicking bad guy butt." Spider-Man joked. "You know, given that we have such a deep emotional history together, shouldn't we be on a first name basis. I'll start, my name is Man, Spider-Man. And you?"

The Dog of War member growled in anger as he went to punch the hero, but the web head simply dodged each throw sent at him. He delivered a kick to the crook's abdomen and sent him crashing to the side of the van. He got back up and made for another punch, but the hero easily weaved his way around it.

While he was dodging that last punch thrown, Spider-Man attached a web line to the fist. When he was done dodging, he gave a light yank to the web attached to the fist, causing it to collide with the crook's face. The groaned in pain for a bit, before the hero came forward and delivered a nasty uppercut, knocking the guy out.

"Now here's hoping you stay in jail this time." Spider-Man said as he sprayed some web on the guy to make sure he stays down.

The police vehicle then came driving up to them with Gordon being the first to exit. "Spider-Man, stay right there!" She ordered.

"And there's my cue." The hero said as he launched a web line and started swinging away.

Gordon sighed in disappointment as she kind of expected that to happen, but she had to at least try. She hoped that he would at least hear her out in trying to give up this life.

She did slightly smile when he was out of sight. 'Catching bad guys...leaving them for the cops...leaving afterwards...this really does take me back.'

The other police officer came in and handcuffed the driver of the stolen truck and had a smirk on his face. "Well look who it is. Nice to see you again, Alex O'Hirn. Barely made bail and you're already up to no good."

"Yeah, you better watch out. When I get out, cops aren't the only ones who need to watch their backs, cause Spider-Man is going to pray he never met me." The now named O'Hirn said with a growl.

The just laughed at the empty threat. "I'm sure everyone prays that every day."

Powers watched as the machine that young Max designed and waited as they added the finishing touches. A large tank was placed on top of the machine and some workers on the rafters poured water along with the electric eels into it. The eels sparked with electricity and had a mean look on their faces.

"Is it finished?" Powers asked.

Otto, who was sitting by a computer next to his boss, looked up and answered. "In just mere moments, sir."

A hatch opened up from the machine and Max Dillon stepped out with a wrench on hand. "I've finished working out the kinks, and now it is all finished. We can start it up right now, if you want."

Otto showed some concern at that. "I really believe that we should wait to see if the functioning of this machine is full proof."

Powers glared at the doctor. "The representative of Casnia is going to arrive little more than a week. We do not have time to be cautious."

Otto nodded nervously and pressed a few buttons on his keyboard. The lights on the machine turned on and it began humming with power. A mechanical arm appeared out of the wall and it was carrying a canister of the gas they were working on. The arm placed the canister in the tank of eels and it upset them having a strange object in their environment. The eels became agitated and started sparking with electricity and it coursed through the canister.

The mechanical arm came back down and grabbed the canister out of the tank. It lowered it down so that many of the scientists in the lab walked forward and did a scan on of it. Otto did his own scan and gained a surprise look on his face.

"The molecules of the gas are moving at a much more rapid rate than any gas than I have ever seen." Otto informed his boss, which got Max to smile with confidence.

"Begin the phase 2 trails." Powers said.

One scientist nodded his head and walked out of the lab. He came back in with a large glass case that had a baby calf chewing on some grass. Powers smiled as Otto used his mechanical arms to pick up the canister and insert it into the glass container. He turned the knob on the canister and everyone watched as the green gas was filling up the glass tank. Everyone waited with baited breath as the calf began to breathe in the gas.

That's when the effect of the gas took effect.

Some of the scientists turned away and looked for a trash can as the results of the experiment were...not pretty to say the least.

Despite the horrific sight, Powers was smiling with sinister glee in his eyes. "Excellent."

"Y-Yes, indeed i-it is, s-sir." Otto stuttered as he stared at the horrific sight.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen, science never sleeps so neither showed you. Let's continue the testing while I contact the buyer, let him know that we can proceed with the meeting on schedule." Powers said as he left the laboratory.

Everyone followed their instructions and went right back to work, all except for Max Dillon, who had a surprised turned angry look on his face.

Powers continued walking down the hallway until Dillon came up and called out to him. "Hey, Mr. Powers!"

"What do you want Dillon, I'm busy." Powers said without even turning around to face the intern.

"Uh, how about a little recognition?" Max said sarcastically. "That was my machine that made those results possible. Don't you think I deserve a little something?"

"I'll be sure to put your name in the memo the next time I have a meeting with the board." Powers said simply.

Max face showed even more anger. "That was my machine! My work is what helped us make that breakthrough! I demand a place at the table! I deserve at least that much!"

"What you deserve..." Powers said as he turned around and glared at the angry young man. "...is to have that attitude of yours checked out. Listen to me young man, the reason we have interns is because you're cheap. You have the bright ideas and we use them without having to spend a single profit. That's all you're good for, being a footnote." Powers turned back around and continued walking down the hallway. "Now get back to work."

Max was not happy in the slightest as he growled in anger and punched the wall. 'A footnote?! That's all I'm good for after working so hard?!'

Later on, Max walked back into the lab and was told to go up on the rafters to check up on the upper part of the machine. One of the circuit breakers was acting up so he was chosen to check it out. After walking across the rafters, Max took out a screwdriver and removed a metal plate from the machine.

"I work my butt off and this is my reward? Yeah, I'm living the dream here." Max grumbled.

He got to work seeing what was wrong with the machine, when all of a sudden, sparks began to fly and it gave his arm a mild shock. "AH!"

The sudden jolt caused him to lose his balance up on the rafters and he couldn't stop himself from falling.

And he fell right into the tank full of eels.

"AAAAAHHHHH!"

Max screamed in agony as the electricity from the tank as well as the eels biting him. The scientist in the room screamed at the sight while others tried their best to get him out of there. Otto used his mechanical to pull him out of there and placed him down on the ground.

"Maxwell! Maxwell, can you hear me?!" Otto shouted frantically as he tried to help his colleague.

"AAAAAHHHHH!" Max screamed as an electric current coursed throughout his entire body.

"Come on, Nick. There are times where you just have to cut loose." Dana said as she and Terry and walked with Nick out of school.

Nick groaned as he walked out of the school. He was in another attempt by his friends to go out and attend this party at a club downtown. He tried playing it off as he always did though.

"Look you guys, I would love to go, but I'm just too busy. You know, studying and stuff." Nick said.

"It's just one party, just come with us this one time and we won't bother you to come ever again unless you want to." Terry said.

"There's a chance you might meet a cute girl over there." Dana said as she tried to entice her friend to come.

"Yeah, I doubt that." Nick said before Dana ran up ahead of him and started giving him the puppy eyes.

"Uh oh, she's pulling out the big guns." Terry said with a smirk.

"Oh, come on." Nick complained as Dana continued giving him the sad look. "Okay, okay, I'll go. Just please put those away."

Dana's eyes returned to normal and she smirked as she walked away. "I knew that would work."

Nick groaned as he turned towards Terry. "I swear that method of her's should be classified as a WMD."

"Why do you think I can hardly win an argument with her." Terry said with a smirk.

"So guys, have you heard about the recent increase of sightings in that new gang around town?" Dana asked. "It was all over the news this morning."

"Yeah, I heard their called the 'Dogs of War.'" Terry said.

"Seems a little excessive, don't you think? I mean what does that name even mean." Nick said.

"Well, I think we can all sleep peacefully with Spider-Man out there watching out for us." Dana reassured.

"I heard he took out at least twenty guys in a car chase last night." Terry said.

"I think it was just about four guys." Nick corrected.

"How do you know that?" Terry asked.

"Call it a hunch." Nick said with a smirk.

/

Max groaned as he started waking up.

What happened to him? It was all a blur. One moment he was working on the machine, but then there was a tremendous amount of pain.

He slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was in the WaynePowers infirmary. With such a powerful company with the latest of advance technologies there were bound to be some accidents. Luckily, they built this infirmary to help with those accidents.

He got up from the bed and stumbled around the room, knocking down medical equipment. He went over to a sink and turned the faucet on. He stuck his hand in the running water, but instantly pulled his hand back.

"OW!" Max yelled. He looked at his hand and saw electricity coursing through his fingers. Things got stranger when the lights started flickering on and off. "What the..."

"I'm so glad you're alright, Maxwell."

That voice...it seemed to be coming from everywhere, but Max saw that it was coming from the speakers. It sounded like Doctor Octavius who must be watching him through the cameras.

"Doc? What's going on here?" Max yelled.

"It is alright, Maxwell. You were in an accident and-"

"What kind of accident?!" Max yelled out. He didn't notice that the lights were flickering with even more intensity.

"Please remain calm, Maxwell. You fell into the eel tank and suffered fatal electrical shocks to your entire system. It's a miracle that you're still alive."

"Which is why we are trying to figure out why that is the case." A new voice said.

Max's eyes widened when he heard that voice. "Power's?!"

"You see, Mr. Dillon, we're just trying to understand the situation, and to do that we have to understand you."

The door to the infirmary opened up and two armed guards entered. This immediately put Max on edge as he didn't like this one bit.

"What are you doing?" Max demanded.

"Just come with us quietly and this will all be over." One of the guards said as he put his hand on Max's shoulder.

That turned out to be a big mistake as an electric current surged across the armed guard and it sent him crashing into the wall. This shocked the other guard until he reached behind his back and pulled out an electric rod.

"Big mistake!" The guard said as he stuck the rod at Max. This caused the young man to kneel down in pain and the guard just continued to stick him with the rod.

No! Stop it!" Max yelled as electricity started to course throughout his entire body the more he was shocked. "KNOCK IT OFF!"

Max shot his hand forward and shot out an electric blast that hit guard and sent him crashing into the same wall as the other guard. The lights stopped flickering due to them exploding. The only source of light was the electricity coursing through Max's body.

"Mr. Dillon, if you would just remain calm, we can try to help you." Powers said through the speakers.

"If this is your idea of helping, then I'm out of here!" Max said as he blasted the wall with an electric blast and exited the hole he made.

Powers saw all of this through the video monitors and didn't have any reaction to this. Otto on the other hand was shocked by what he saw his young colleague just do.

If he could all of this in one room, then he was scared about what he could do to the city.

Nick groaned in discomfort as he covered his ears from the loud music. His friends took him to teen night club and there was flashing lights, loud music, and dancing teens everywhere. Some of them he recognized from school, but others were just strangers.

"Aren't you happy now that you came along?" Dana asked as she, Terry, and Nick entered the club.

"Yeah, me and my ears are extremely grateful." Nick said sarcastically as he still covered his ears.

"Don't worry, you'll learn to adjust." Terry said as he and Dana went to the dance floor.

Nick decided to let them have their moment and sit down at the bar area of the club. Nick didn't know what to call this part of the club considering they don't sell any alcohol, but he just called it the bar area because it looked like a bar.

Nick ordered a soda and pulled out his phone to look up his latest article that he turned in. It was talking about the increase in Dogs of War activity, but how Spider-Man was always on the scene and making sure the people were safe.

'I may be able to take out the common thugs, but none of this will mean anything if I don't take out the big boss. Problem is every time I try getting info out of them, none of them want to speak up on who it is. Almost like they're afraid of their boss.'

"Not wanting to join the masses."

Nick turned his head to see who spoke and his eyes slightly widened at the person.

It was a girl about his age with pale blonde hair with some strands falling across her face. She wore a long-sleeved black shirt, a pink skirt, and black boots. To finish off her look she had black lipstick across her lips.

Nick mentally shook his head out of his stupor about how pretty she looked. "It's not that really. It's just that I'm not much of a party person."

"Then why even bother coming?" The girl asked.

Nick tilted his head to where Terry and Dana were dancing. "My think I should get out more. I've just been mostly busy because I've got a lot of things on my plate."

"Maybe you should try pacing yourself. Life is short so you gotta make the most of it." The girl advised.

"Yeah, I guess your right about." Nick said as he held out his hand. "I'm Nick by the way. I don't recognize you from my school, you go somewhere else?"

The girl looked at his hand for a second before smiling and shaking it. "I'm Melanie, and I don't really go anywhere. I'm only in town for a couple of weeks cause my family is debating on whether moving here or not."

"Well, this may not be the most pretty city, but it has some atmosphere." Nick said.

"Lived here for a long time?" Melanie asked.

"All my life." Nick said with a smile. "Most people may find this strange, but I just can't see myself anywhere else. Yeah, this city is dark and whatnot, but it has such a rich history that you can't help but admire."

Melanie smiled at his words, but then looked down with a little bit of sadness in her eyes. "Must be nice to have home that makes you feel that way."

Nick raised his eyebrow at that. "What do you mean?"

"My family moves around a lot, so I never really had a place that would make me feel those things." Melanie explained.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Nick said.

"It's alright. I don't really let it bother me that much." Melanie said as she waved hand, telling him it was no big deal. She looked back at him and smiled again. "So, tell me a little bit about yourself."

Nick smiled as they began talking about random topics. This night was not how he would have expected, but he wasn't complaining in the slightest.

Dana and Terry finished dancing and were about to make their way towards Nick, but stopped when they saw him talking to a girl they didn't recognized. Dana smirked as she saw this.

"See, what did I tell ya?" Dana said as she looked her boyfriend.

"I gotta say, I'll never doubt you again." Terry said,

"See, sometimes a boy just needs a little push to get them out there." Dana said as they sat at their table.

Meanwhile outside the club...

Max groaned as he walked down the alley in nothing more than a brown trench coat and pants. He placed his hand on the wall to keep his balance.

'Now what am I going to do?' Max thought as he continued walking.

He walked out of the alleyway and continued down the sidewalk. Some bystanders thought he looked weird so they gave him some space as he walked pass them. A police cruiser was driving by and they spotted him and couldn't help but feel a little suspicious.

"What do you think?" One of the cops asked.

"From the way he's walking, he's probably drunk or he's hurt. Either way, let's just go and talk to him." The other officer said. The parked along the sidewalk, got out and walked up to Max. "Hey buddy, you alright?"

"Leave me alone." Max said as he continued walking.

The officer narrowed his eyes in suspicion as he approached him. "Listen man, if you're in trouble then you better tell us."

"Didn't you hear me, I said leave me alone." Max said, still not turning to face the cops.

That definitely put the police on edge as they placed their hands on their weapons, as just a precaution. "Sir, please turn around and raise your hands above your head." One of the officers demanded.

Max was getting even more annoyed as he finally turned to face them, but not looking at all happy. "I...said...LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Electricity coursed throughout Max's body as he began the flux his powers. A stray bolt managed to hit one of the officers and sent him crashing right into their vehicle. The second officer was shocked by this, but managed to shake it off and pulled out his energy weapon. He began firing energy bolts of energy from his gun, causing Max to flinch and raise his arms in defense.

The energy bolts were about to hit him, but to his surprise they seemed to get absorbed into his body. Max was stunned at first, but then he glared at the other cop. He thrusted his hand forward and sent out another bolt of electricity, knocking back the other officer.

Max continued to glare, but then he saw all the pedestrians on the sidewalk, as well as the ones waiting in line to get into the club, all staring at him. Their most notable reaction to his actions were fear.

Max glared at all of them as his anger began to rise. "What are you looking at!" Max exclaimed.

His shouting caused all of the street lights to explode, and all of the lights around the block to go out. The pedestrians all screamed in terror and began to run away.

/

Back inside the club...

All of the patrons inside the club started to panic as the lights began to go off. Nick looked around in confusion before thinking that a fuse must have blown or something.

His thoughts were immediately on high alert as his spider sense began to go off. All of a sudden, the lights began to flicker intensely and began to explode. Nick's spider sense began to go off again, alerting him of danger from above him and Melanie.

"Look out!" Nick exclaimed as he pulled Melanie out of the way, causing both of them to fall to the ground. This managed to help them avoid glass shards from falling right on top of where they were sitting.

Melanie breathed a sigh of relief as she sent a grateful smile at the boy. "Thanks, that was a close one."

"Yeah, let's get out of here." Nick said as he and Melanie followed after the crowd hastily making their way to the exit.

When they managed to get outside, everyone saw Max as electricity continued to flare throughout his entire body. A car was coming his way, but came to an abrupt stop before hitting him. Max glared at the driver, which caused him to abruptly abandoning the vehicle. A good thing to, as Max sent a bolt right at the car, blowing it up.

The crowd began screaming in fear as they started running away. Nick was about to try and make an excuse to Melanie, but saw that she was gone. He concluded that she must have been swept away by the retreating crowd, along with Terry and Dana.

Seeing an opportunity, Nick managed to go with the flow of the crowd and found an alley to sneak into. Seeing as there were no witnesses, Nick managed to change into his costume.

Max continued walking along the street, hoping to get away from all the noise and the crowd. Pretty soon more police cruisers came by and stopped right in front of him.

The police stepped out of their vehicles and pointed their weapons at Max.

"Hands in the air, now!" One of the cops exclaimed.

Max smirked as he did raise his hands, but bolts of electricity shot out of them and destroyed one of the police cruisers, causing the officers to run back for cover.

"Who else wants some?!" Max challenged.

"Now, now, there's no need for that temper." Spider-Man said as he swung in and landed on one of the police cruisers. "If you have something to get off your chest, you can use your inside voice."

"You?! You're that guy on the news!" Max said as he recognized the hero.

"Yep, that's me." Spider-Man said as he hopped off the cruiser and cautiously walked towards Max. "Now, it's obvious that you're upset about something. Maybe I could help?" The hero offered.

"You want to help? Then how about you buzz off!" Max exclaimed as he shot a bolt at the hero.

Spider-Man reacted right in the knick of time as he bent his back backwards and managed to avoid the blast. Seeing as how talking didn't seem like an option at the moment, the hero decided to leap into action.

Spider-Man jumped forward and launched a web line on the side of a building, and swung around Max. The hero then swung back down and delivered a swinging kick to Max's chest, sending him flying across the street. Max landed on top of the police cruiser, but shook the blow off and got back up.

Max got so frustrated that he flailed his arms down in anger, but that caused something to happen. Electric bolts shot put of his hands onto the ground and sent him flying right towards the hero, ending up tackling him to a wall.

Max and Spider-Man were surprised by this, but Max soon smiled with a cruel kind of glee. Spider-Man made to deliver a punch, but Max managed to avoid it and punched the hero instead; his fist, all the while, coated with electricity. Spider-Man was sent rolling back due to the force of the punch, but managed to get back up on his feet. He fired two strands of webs that attached themselves to Max's chest.

Max smirked as he held onto the strands of webs and sent a current of electricity right through them. They managed to hit Spider-Man, causing him to grunt on pain and sent him flying back, hitting the wall to the club.

Max smile soon widened with sinister glee. "Hahaha! Well look at this, I'm beating the one and only Spider-Man single handedly!"

"That's a bit of stretch." Spider-Man said as he slowly got back up. "Just give me a second there zappy, and I'll be right as rain."

Max growled at that remark. "That's not my name! My name is..." Max paused mid-sentence as he looked at his electric coated hand, "...my name used to be Max Dillon, but he was weak. He never had the guts to stand up for himself and demand respect. But now, with this power, I can."

"What are you talking about?" The hero questioned as the guy started talking to himself.

"Yes...yes, I know who I'm meant to be now. I have the power to take whatever I want, and no one can stop me!" Max yelled as the electricity current around his body began to intensify. "If Max Dillon can't be the new big name in town...then maybe...Electro can!"

Bolts of electricity began to fluctuate around his body and began to destroy everything in their path. Spider-Man leapt out of the way to avoid a blast, and thanks to his spider sense he managed to avoid more of them.

One of the bolts managed to hit a fire hydrant and it exploded, causing water to spray across the street. A few stray droplets managed to hit Electro on the shoulder, causing him to flinch as smoke came out of where they hit.

Spider-Man a managed to see this and an idea started to form. 'With the amount of electricity this is giving out, it makes sense that he and water wouldn't mix. That gives me an idea.'

Spider-Man ripped the door off a car in the street and threw it like a frisbee at Electro. The electric villain saw this coming and fired a bolt, destroying the makeshift weapon being thrown at him. Spider-Man launched a we line and started swinging away.

"Catch me if you can, sparky!" Spider-Man taunted as he swung away.

Electro growled in anger as he threw his arms down and sent another blast of voltage onto the ground, launching him into the air to give chase. "I told you, the name's Electro!"

Spider-Man continued to swing away as he looked back and saw Electro trying to catch up. The villain continued to send bolts to the ground, sending him flying back up every time he lands.

'That's right, just keep following me.' Spider-Man thought to himself as he continued swinging away.

Electro was getting annoyed by this as he launched himself even higher off the ground and fired a massive electrical blast, hitting the hero and sending him crashing onto the roof. Spider-Man groaned as he tried getting back up, just as Electro landed on the ground.

"You know, with all the joking you do, I thought you'd be tougher." Electro taunted as his hands surged with power.

Spider-Man soon got back up and steadied himself. "Yeah, I admit, you're pretty tough, but at least I'm something that you're obviously not."

"And what's that?" Electro asked as he prepared to fire another bolt.

"Smart." Spider-Man said as he launched two web lines that went right past Electro.

"Ha! Missed me!" Electro taunted.

Spider-Man smirked underneath his mask. "Did I?"

Electro was confused by this as he glanced behind him and saw that the webs were attached to a water tower on the building. Spider-Man yanked the webs, causing the tower to tip over and crashed onto the roof. The water exploded from it and was sent flooding across the entire roof.

"AAAAAHHHHH!" Electro wailed in pain as he became soaked in water.

Electricity surged right out of him as his power began to flare up with intensity. Spider-Man had to cover his eyes as all that power was really bright. When the light began to die down and Electro's screaming stopped. He opened his eyes to see the smoking body of Electro still standing before falling forward.

Spider-Man went to check on him, and saw that he was just unconscious. 'Good, he's alive. It's a good thing my plan worked.'

He didn't have time to celebrate as a spotlight began to shine on him. He looked up and spotted three police cruiser flying up in the air, all with their lights on him.

"Spider-Man! Remain where you are now!" One of the officers in one of the cruisers demanded.

Spider-Man sighed in slight frustration. "Alright, this is getting ridiculous." He groaned out as he launched a web line and swung away.

One of the cruiser's meant to give chase, but the hero managed to give them the slip as he made a sharp turn into an alley and managed to hide out.

'This has got to stop. I can't keep protecting people if I constantly have to continue watching my back for the police to come and get me. Maybe I should try a different approach...'

With that thought in mind, Spider-Man swung out of the alley and made his way to his next destination.

He never noticed that a flying drone with a camera was watching him.

/

Powers watched the live video feed from a screen on his desk. He had the drone following Max when he escaped from his facility, but found an even better opportunity when Spider-Man showed up.

He turned off the video and pressed a button on a speaker. "I hope that was to your satisfaction."

"It was. When you told me about the incident with one of your workers, I decided to test out my new theory." A voice said over the speaker.

"And did it go as you planned?" Powers asked.

The screen turned back on as it now showed footage of members of the Dogs of War began robbing a jewelry store and making off with the loot.

"Indeed it was. Like how sharks will easily go for larger prey in the water, the small fish will get away to survive another day." The voice said.

"So, we just need to keep the little spider distracted..." Powers began as a smile formed on his face.

"...then we can reap the benefits of our respective businesses from right under his nose. Which means that we may need to invest more in these...super villains." The voice finished.

"And if they happened to kill our little spider problem, then it's still a win for us." Powers said with smirk.

/

Barbara Gordon sighed in relief as her shift was now over and she was making her way to her car. She just got finished with the paperwork to transfer this young man named Max Dillon to a research facility/prison for super powered individuals.

She heard that he caused some major damage throughout town and was now being worked on to hopefully help his condition. He was given special cuffs that blocked his powers, and good thing to, because the amount of energy he was giving off was off the charts.

Once again witnesses and her fellow officers spotted Spider-Man taking him on, and managed to stop him from causing more damage. While she was thankful that he managed to do that, she was still disappointed that he managed to get away again.

She made her way to her car and pulled out her keys. She paused for a second before inserting her keys.

"You can come out now." Gordon said out loud.

Spider-Man all of a sudden appeared and landed on the street light in the parking lot. "Wow, to be honest, I thought I was pretty stealthy."

"I've seen stealthier." Barbara said as she finished putting her things in her car. "Though I am about surprised that you even tried to sneak to a police station."

"Yeah, but I feel like this was the only place to find you." Spider-Man said.

"And why were you looking for me specifically?" Barbara asked.

"Because I think it's time that we have a talk, Commissioner." Spider-Man said.

Barbara raised her eyebrow at that statement. Seems this night was getting crazier and crazier by the moment.

Hey everybody, hope you like this newest chapter!

I hope you like the surprises I had in this chapter as well as the cliffhanger at the end. Next chapter, we'll see how the talk between Spider-Man and Commissioner Gordon goes.

And we finally get to see the love interest I had planned for Nick. Melanie Walker aka Ten of the Royal Flush Gang. I have big plans for her in this story, and you'll have to wait and see what they are.

And here's a surprise, next chapter will be the start of the Batman Beyond portion of the story! I am so excited for that!

That's all I have to say about this chapter. I'll see you all next time!
